alexleo: I dont know why you people see wrong in what Fashola did. Why cant those 14 people or 72 people go to their villages and farm? Must everybody live in Lagos? it is not in our culture in Igbo land to beg so why should sending 72 beggars home to go and try some other means of living be a problem since they have not been able to succeed in Lagos? Na wa for una o. Unu kwusi ime nkpotu biko. FASHOLA, I AM AN IGBO MAN AND I WISH TO SAY THAT YOU DID NOT COMMIT ANY CRIME OR OFFENCE IN WHAT YOU DID. I SUPPORT YOUR ACTION. Thanks.
. Hmmmm, I think I see one reasonable Igbo here. Kudos bro
ballabriggs: Worry about your people, worry that they are becoming more and more ignorant by the day while irresponsible women like Adaobi leave Onitsha to rot and take advantage of their ignorance. These are the things that should bother you and not Fashola.
Fashola has made his mark and Lagos will never forget him. What legacies have your leaders left for you if not increased cases of kidnapping and baby factories.
. Good question that must be answer from all the Igbo people.
Pukkah: Some Nigerians can speak from both sides of their mouths.
On one hand, they want Nigeria to break up, on the other hand, they run away from acts that can quicken the break-up.
On one hand, they say Yorubas are cowards, on the other hand, when Yoruba take bold and uncommon actions like Fasola has done, they start whining.
If you're really serious about the disintegration of Nigeria and you're not cowards, why not respond in kind?
On one hand, they refuse to support the call for a special status for Lagos (as recommended by the Murtala administration when Abuja was created), on the other hand, they expect Lagos to cater for destitutes and unemployed people from its meagre allocation and IGR. Right now, Lagos is bursting at the seams.
On one hand, they jubilate when Fasola sends back Yorubas to Osogbo or Ibadan, or Hausas to the North, but wail when he does the same to them.
Should all roads lead to Lagos when it comes to freebies?
On one hand, they lampoon Fasola for not being a good administrator of a mega and unsupported city of Lagos, but they shed tears when Fasola tries to shed weight of redundant people from the state.
Honestly, what Fasola is doing is the best to ignite debates on the structure of this country. If you're bold, address the fundamentals and don't whine.
How much of VAT and Port revenues come to Lagos? How much goes to Kano? How much goes to Ebonyi or Ekiti?
Orji Kalu should please hasten the court action. This may well be the beginning of true fiscal federalism or the end of the faulty contraption by Lugard and his mistress.

soldierAnt: =============================================================================== IMPORTANT UPDATE ===============================================================================
I've failed to monitor this post for sometime now and I was unaware of the amount of attention it was getting and that's the reason why I am only just replying.
Konga.com, to their credit, have actually rectified the whole laptop situation. They shipped a replacement out to me this week (after a two week struggle) and funded my Konga.com wallet with the balance.
I'm sorry to have raised so much alarm in the heat of the moment. I've actually continued to use them for many other purchases since then (including two pairs of shoes which always get me compliments.). I think they are a good service used with caution, something we really need in this country and should be encouraged.
Those are my honest two cents.
===================================================================== ORIGINAL POST =====================================================================
First off a bit of advice. Don't buy anything important from Konga.com. Or don't buy anything without calling them first to confirm every single detail. Or at the very least don't pay by card for anything on Konga.com.
I ordered a HP Envy Ultrabook from Konga and paid by card. One thing that decided me in favour of this ultrabook in place of the myriad other options is the fact that it was stated to have a DVD drive.
However, on receiving it a few days later and opening the package I discovered to my infinite ire that, actually, like many ultrabooks, this one doesn't come with an in-built DVD drive.I called Konga to complain several times.
The representatives kept promising to get back to me. I called again the next day and the rep promised to get back to me once again.
The Day after that I got a call from Konga and the rep informed me that the HP Envy Ultrabook I ordered doesn't have an in-built DVD drive (Duhh! What have I been saying all along?!) Of course I protested that at the time I ordered the product page said it had a DVD drive.
At which point, the CS rep said that their 'uploaders' had informed her that there was no mention of an optical drive for that particular model.
She then suggested I go and review the web page and confirm the specs again. Lo and behold, when I went back to the webpage, all mention of a DVD drive had disappeared as if by magic.
Remember, this was two days after I had taken delivery of the laptop. So basically, whoever made the mistake of writing an optical drive for that laptop has gone and covered their tracks making me look like a fool at this point.
This was hardly the first mistake I've seen by the 'uploaders' of Konga but it's clear that whatever mistakes they make, it's the customers who pay for it.
Isn't that just cozy? As it stands, I've been informed that since I've broken the seal for this laptop, I cannot have it replaced or refunded.
So thanks to some meathead of an uploader, I'm stuck with a fairly expensive ultrabook that isn't an ultrabook at all, is too heavy and doesn't even have a DVD drive to account for all that extra weight. So in brief, I've paid all that extra money just for a brushed metal look. Nice!
Be warned.
pls what is the full meaning of DVD? Just a question dnt abuse me ooo

Kaymisola: Prolific movie director and actor, Kunle Afolayan was recently dropped as a Glo ambassador (for the likes of Waje, Omawumi, MI and co) and even though the reason wasn't revealed, new findings claim that he was dropped because of SAKA - Saka the actor and new MTN ambassador (Afiz Ayetoro).
Prior to him being dropped as an ambassador, Kunle had a smooth relationship with the company and did not go against any terms in his contract and was really shocked at his termination. According to Linda Ikeji, Kunle Afolayan was booted out when Globacom found out that one of the main characters in his Phone Swap movie (which was sponsored by Globacom) was Saka, an Etisalat face for many of their brands, at the time. (Before he ported to MTN ). Globacom sponsored the movie and when it eventually came out and they saw Saka in it, that was it! Yet Saka is presently soaring after his big hit with the MTN Port advert, lol...

[quote author=Maxymilliano]The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) Wednesday called off its plans to attack mosques and assassinate Islamic clerics to avenge the attack on Christians and churches by Boko Haram militants.
The group, in a statement yesterday by its spokesman, Gbomo Jomo, said despite several provocative statements credited to some Muslim leaders, it had decided to call off the planned attack.
"Our planned attacks on mosques and other related agencies of religious intolerance have been called off due to the intervention of well-meaning Nigerians, religious bodies and the Nigerian government’s recent show of sincerity with the order to release from detention women, children, relatives and suspected Boko Haram members giving room for genuine dialogue.
"We have also heeded the appeal from Mr Henry Okah and Mr. Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs. To these effects, the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (M.E.N.D) hereby announces the suspension of “Operation Barbarossa” which was to have commenced from Friday, May 31, 2013, with immediate effect. We use this opportunity to call for the release of Henry Okah and others in detention over the October 01, 2010, twin car bomb blast," the statement said.
Boko Haram wants Gov to release from detention women, children, relatives and suspected Boko Haram members giving room for genuine dialogue. Now "MEND" wants appeal from Mr Henry Okah and Mr. Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs....50/50 no cheating oooo
frosbel: Move comes amid major offensive in three northeastern states against group seeking to create Islamic state.
Nigerian soldiers have blocked roads out of a key northeastern city to deprive Boko Haram fighters of supplies in remote towns they control, the army has said.
The military said on Sunday that its offensive against the group, which followed a declaration of a state of emergency in three northeastern states, was aimed at re-establishing Nigeria's "territorial integrity".
The assault on Boko Haram, which has said it wants to create an Islamic state, included air strikes on strongholds in remote parts of northeastern Borno state, and has spread to the state capital Maiduguri, the fighters' traditional home base.
Residents said on Sunday the base had been blockaded.
"There is a huge build-up of trucks loaded with essential commodities... along the Baga road on the way out of Maiduguri to the northern part of the state," said Ibrahim Yahaya.
"The drivers said they have been prevented by the military from going northward," he told the AFP news agency by email.
'Run out of supplies'
The phone network in Borno has all but collapsed since president Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday declared a state of emergency there and in two neighbouring states, Adamawa and Yobe.
Chris Olukolade, a defence spokesman, said in a statement on Saturday that fighters on the run were scrambling for key supplies like fuel. He urged residents to report anyone trying to buy large quantities of fuel.
The supply shortage has begun to bite in the town of Gomboru Ngala, on the border with Cameroon, where some Borno residents have fled to escape the air raids.
"Trucks bringing in goods from Maiduguri have ceased since last week," said resident Grema Babagoni. He said the supply shortage has pushed prices up by as much as 25 percent.
"If the blockade continues for some time we may completely run out of supplies," he told AFP.
On Saturday the army declared a 24-hour curfew in a dozen neighbourhoods of Maiduguri, Boko Haram's stronghold.
The curfew in the main city in Borno state came as soldiers continued the government's emergency campaign against fighters in the region on Saturday.
A defence spokesman also said the military had seized stockpiles of weapons including rocket-propelled grenades, guns and ammunition from areas around Maiduguri.
Boko Haram has carried out scores of attacks in recent years, and has become emboldened and better armed in recent months.
mikeansy: what some people do not realise is that rigging is like coup-de-tat, you need a level of public support to succeed.
Jonathan did well in 2011 because of strong support from the whole South. If Jonathan looses South West in 2015 he will definitely loose because he has no leg in NW and NE for obvious reasons.
The battleground will be Middle belt . . . with a half hearted or lesser support from Igbos in 2015 compared to 2011 Jonathan is headed for defeat.
If APC select their candidate wisely and lets say Fashola emerge. Fashola is a Yoruba Muslim and will have both ethno-religious advantage and a moral advantage because of his Governance records in Lagos.
before the 2011 election, some of us predicted the outcome of the electoral map as it happened.
The only way Jonathan wins in 2015 is if APC defeat themselves in their own primary and field a Buhari or that sort of figure.
Fashola/VP candidate from Benue, Plateau, Taraba or Adamawa who is a Christain will defeat Jonathan in a landslide.
Jerry-jat: The Central Bank of Nigeria on Thursday announced the cancellation of the N100 monthly Automatic Teller Machine card maintenance fee introduced by some banks recently and which generated public condemnation. The CBN in a circular titled, ‘Revised guide to bank charges,’ posted on its website, however, pegged the maintenance fee at N100 annually.
Also affected is the mandatory cost of Short Message Service alert which has been pegged at N4 subject to the Nigerian Communication Commission’s directives.
The circular, which takes effect from April 1, read, “In order to reflect current developments in the market and provide clarity on banking terms, the CBN recently conducted a review of the guide in consultation with all the banks and discount houses, Bankers’ Committee, financial experts and also considered inputs received from other stakeholders to produce the revised guide to bank charges.”
On electronic transfer, the bank said N70 would be charged on transactions below N500,000 while N100 should be charged on transactions between N500,000 and N1m. Transactions above N1m will attract a charge of N500.
It said issuing fee of a debit card should exceed N1,000, while international withdrawals per transaction on debit cards should be charged at N240 rather than N1,000 being currently charged by almost all the banks.
The CBN pegged the interest on savings deposit accounts at a minimum of 30 per cent of the Monetary Policy Rate per annum.
It would be recalled that following the Bankers’ Committee meeting in November 2012 which scrapped the N100 interbank charge on the use of ATM cards, some banks went ahead to introduce the N100 monthly maintenance fee on ATM cards...
