22yrs Old Young Nigerian becomes youngest Councillor in the UK

Princess Elizabeth Bright, a 22yrs old student has been elected as one of the youngest councillors in UK, representing Eastbrook ward in Dagenham, during the UK Election which took place on Thursday, May 3rd.

Her mother, Councillor Afolasade Bright from the Borough of Barking and Dagenham Council was also re-elected. She is also a former speaker/civic mayor London borough of Hackney.

Princess Elizabeth after the election results wrote:

officially been elected as the youngest Labour Councillor in my borough representing the fantastic Eastbrook Ward at the tender age of 22 alongside 2 amazing people Mick McCarthy and Tony Ramsay. We have worked so hard in this election, with one of the most target wards, but All the hard work, commitment and tears have finally paid off.

Would like to say Massive thank you to All who have supported Eastbrook in this campaign. From the CLP, to the borough-wide councillors, my Amazing MP Jon Cruddas who canvassed with me till the last hour, volunteers, friends and of course to the most supportive parents Afolasade Bright & PastorGbolahan Bright. She added.

There are now Four Councillors all ladies from the same Parish, RCCG The Master’s Sanctuary and they include; 22 years old Cllr Princess Bright, her mum; Cllr Afolasade Bright, Cllr Donna Lumsden and Cllr Dorothy Akwaboah.

The Foreign Office has appointed NneNne Iwuji-Eme as its first black female high commissioner to the Republic of Mozambique as it steps up efforts to change the overwhelmingly white, male face of the diplomatic service.

Ms Iwuji-Eme becomes the first British black female career diplomat to be appointed High Commissioner. She will take up her new role in July 2018
NneNne Iwuji-Eme originally from Nigeria spent 16 years in the Foreign Office, will take up her role as British high commissioner to Mozambique in July in succession to Ms Joanna Kuenssberg. Her previous roles ranging from Economic Adviser for Africa to Chief Press Officer to the Africa Minister, she has also worked as an Economist in Defra and for Royal Dutch Shell. The University of Nottingham Trent student Rufaro Chisango shared a video online of people chanting “We hate the blacks” outside her uni door and hid in her room. She reported the incident to the school authorities but nothing was done for few days

These weren’t strangers, they were people to saw every day around the area. After hearing the chant, she spoke to her mum on the phone and she advised her to report the incident which she did, but nothing was done. She wrote a statement to her school and posted the incident on social media and this was when she was eventually heard.

Tanzanian Police have confirmed to British media outlets that they arreste[b]d 20 people[/b] over the weekend, who are accused of being homosexual; a crime that has the potential to carry the punishment of life imprisonment in the east African country of Tanzania.

Those detained were in a hotel, in the middle of a training programme about how to educate on HIV and AIDS when they were arrested. Eight men and 12 women went into police custody.

The Tanzanian Government have already laid down laws which prevent the majority of private health clinics in the region from offering advice and treatment related to HIV and AIDS because of the belief that they promoted gay sexual activity.

Commenting on this weekend's arrest, Hassan Ali Nasri, the police commander, said on local Tanzanian television:

"They are implicated in homosexuality. We arrested them and are busy interrogating them. The police cannot turn a blind eye to this practice."
