Well,According to a report published on June 19 by the Harvard Business School, daughters of working mothers are more likely to be employed, hold supervisory positions, and earn more money than the daughters of women who don’t work outside the home.

The researchers also found a statistically significant effect on the sons of working women, who are likely to spend more time caring for family members and doing household chores than are the sons of stay-at-home mothers.


Analyzing data from two dozen countries, the researchers concluded that the daughters of employed mothers are 4.5% more likely to be employed themselves than are the daughters of stay-at-home mothers. While this number may seem small, it is statistically significant at the 99% level, meaning there is less than a 1% chance that such a result is due to chance.


Even more surprising, says Kathleen McGinn, a professor at Harvard Business School and the lead author of the study, is the effect that working mothers have on their daughters’ chances of being a supervisor at work. “We did expect that it would effect employment but we didn’t expect that it would effect supervisory responsibility,” she tells Quartz.
Even after controlling for gender attitudes—to take beliefs regarding gender roles out of the equation—the researchers found that 33% of daughters of working mothers held supervisory roles, compared to only 25% of daughters of stay-at-home moms. “What I take away is that employed mothers create an environment in which their children’s attitudes on what is appropriate for girls to do and what is appropriate for boys to do is affected,” McGinn says.
The study was based on national-level data, as well as individual-level survey data collected across 24 countries by the International Social Survey Programme in 2002 and 2012. In particular, the researchers examined results from a survey question that asked respondents whether, during their childhood, their mother had ever spent a year or more working full- or part-time; then they regressed these responses against a host of variables to test the outcomes.
McGinn says that the effects of working mothers were most striking in countries labeled in the study as “stagnating moderates,” a category that included both the US and the UK. These are countries where respondents generally held moderate views about gender issues and egalitarianism in 2002, and where the attitudes remained roughly the same 10 years later.
McGinn says that the income of daughters of working mothers in the US was $5,200 higher than that of daughters of women who stayed at home, when controlling for gender attitudes.

Her message for working mothers is that being employed has long-lasting, positive effects on children. “When you go to work, you are helping your children understand that there are lots of opportunities for them,” McGinn says.


Who am I to argue with the result from their findings and research? I personally believe it all boils down to the orientation of the mothers in question‎, if you don't balance the task of been a Mom and your job equally, you might end up with the most unruly and unsuccessful children when they are grown. 

In as much as you have a demanding job as a mother also find time to attend to issues at your home front such as: assisting your kids in their home work, guiding and teaching them how to be independent and never be too tired to show them adequate love and don't trivialize their complaints.

Few of this blog vistors sent me mails and were quite curious as to how I lost a whopping ‎18kg in 30days(1month) and some dropped comments in my previous post asking me to explain in details how I was able to achieve it. I earlier stated some women shed weight effortlessly while some find it difficult and maybe lazy to achieve it. Some expect an over night change. Since you didn't add the weight over night you can't loose so fast and easily.  

Disclaimer: This post is entirely my weight loss experience and views on weight loss guide. It's always advised you not suffering from any heart or lung ailment Before you embark on a weight loss journey.  ‎




These are few basic recommended items you'll need to purchase Before you begin your exercise: dumb bells(10kg precisely), sit up bench(optional) you can always improvise and  a skipping rope. ‎

Week 1 exercise: I started by skipping, ‎I barely completed 20 skips and was exhausted. It's always good to get an instructor or training partner who is willing to push you beyond your limits. Why I chose Lydia my daughter to do the counts is because she just learned how to count 1-100 and she felt every count must end in 100, imagine the dissapointment if I stop at 20 or 30. Perfect emotional blackmail, it pushed me to at least get close to hundred in every exercise I did. 

I lifted the 10kg dumb bells, one in each hand making it 20kg in total about 20times as well. It helps in firming up the bursts and shedding fats around your arm.‎  The entire training session lasted about an hour each day the  first week.

I didn't do sit-ups the 1st week as my body was experiencing serious muscle pulls due to the skipping and weight lift I did the first couple of days. 
At this point many women back out due to the muscle pull aches but I didn't give up. A deep tissue massage eased the pains.  

Week 1 dieting: First thing , I stopped eating pounded yam and all other forms of fufu‎. No soda, chips/fries, chicken, beef, bacon and I reduced my sugar intake generally which I replaced with honey. No chocolate drink for me too(milo, ovaltine etc) till date. I consumed lots of fresh ginger root and lime tea as my breakfast with a slice of  wheat bread sandwich. I iced up some batches of the ginger and lime tea and consume them when ever i'm thirsty. I took lots of vegetable salad and ate fruits as my dinner which were basically water melon, pineapple, apples and cucumbers. The positive effect was the constant bowel movement. 



Week 2 and 3 exercise ‎: I was ready to impress my kids with my skills this time around and not disappoint Lydia especially, with more determination I I crossed the 30skips I did the previous week, they cheered on as I crossed 50skip...lol. I couldn't go beyond 70skips as I was really tired, next was to attempt sit-ups. I sat on a flat surface on the floor, Josh and Esther held my feet tightly  to the floor while I did the sit-ups. They made me to run round the building several laps, Gosh! Kids are really energetic. Good thing I was allowed to rest at intervals. This time around I saw myself training for more than 3hours at a stretch.


4th and final week: I was making over hundred skips, 50sit-up‎, brisk walking and running too. On this final week I decided I was going to train morning and evening everyday. Even when I see myself loosing hope I think of why I started in the first place, the excitement on my kids face because they think it's play time with Mommy gladdened my heart as well. I worked even harder and rested well too. I didn't compromise my diet for even a split second. I stuck to my strict vegetables and fruits diet and took plenty of water to avoid dehydration.

Though, I got few comments the previous week saying I lost some  weight, trust some Naija people to ask me if all was well with me and my home...Lmao. I was only waiting to climb the weighing scale to reveal the actual amount of weight i lost. On that faithful Sunday morning after taking a dump I decided to check my weight in my birth suit. I doubted my calculation after checking and cross checking, Lo and behold I lost 18kg!!!

Waist trainers did the rest of the magic in my tommy area, I eventually got used to wearing it often, I still waist train till date. ‎Ofcos! I still exercise and watch what I eat strictly.


NO PAIN NO GAIN!!‎

When it comes to the issue of employing  house maids i'm scared stiff, ah! I don tire for dia wahala! The first ever maid I employed prior to my first delivery claimed to be 23years old. Blessing started off quite well  the first few weeks but I started noticing changes after I put to birth, her job description was basically cleaning the house and nothing more. She doesn't cook nor do my laundry, she doesn't even look after my little baby. 

Problem started when she felt her duty was to watch African megic(africa magic), oh yes! That's how she pronounces it, some chores will be half done and some untouched. Even when I send her to get the house chores done, she does them haphazardly so she can watch her beloved African megic. In a bid to take it easy with her not come off too controlling I didn't ban her from watching it but when she started grumbling and talking back at me when I complain of a poorly done job I knew she needed to leave Before she becomes my boss.

Shortly after my first maid left I got a new one. I decided she wasn't going to live with me, she started work few days into the month of October, she was dedicated and never bothered if there was a tv or not in the house. Trouble started when she started bringing her entire community clothes to wash in my house since I have a constant and steady water supply. I'm not against her using my water or clothe line but she took her laundry more serious than her work in my home. 

When I paid her December salary, she announced she wasn't returning after xmas break, upon further inquiry she said she wanted to get married. I was devastated but had no choice than to let her go. 

My husband decided I look for one from my hometown, I quickly sent a word to few relatives to get a matured girl for me  as I am strongly against child labour. A fifteen year old girl named Agi(short for Agnes) was sent to me after the festive season, I got her acquainted with her new home and nature of the job the following day after her arrival. She was so excited she was in the city...lol. she was dedicated to her work and was willing to do anything to further her education. We had an agreement with her parents.  she was going to rewrite her Senior secondary certificate exams which she failed at the first attempt. I enrolled her in extra mural classes which she attends every evening. Problem started when she started coming home late and upon investigations she was getting too comfortable with the street security guards. It didn't end there‎ her folks where bombarding us with heavy financial demands. The dad will call today and ask for money for his leaking roof. How much is it? I'll ask baba. 
N30,000 my daughter.
Haba! Baba do you want to re-roof your entire house? DH(darling husband) and I will send him the money. 
Mama not wanting to be left out will call almost immediately. 
"My daughter, I am the only one without the recommended lace and wrapper for christian mothers meeting, God alone will bless you if you send me N20,000 to purchase it". ‎Oh no! Here we go again....Gosh! we send her the money again to make it even. Agi's  siblings ain't left out as well they practically turned to us as there personal lord and saviour. We just had to bundle Agi back to her villa Before she runs us into debit mode.

While trying to figure out where next to get a maid my close friend came crying to me one faithful day, what happened? Oga gave maid belle. What?!?! This my friend in question has issues conceiving, you can imagine how devastated she was.  I consoled her and that alone got me scared again on a whole new level. I began to‎ hear even more scarier stories from fellow church members on how maids initiate kids into occultic activities and even sexually defiling kids. An old friend of mine once told me in confidence he was disvirgined by his maid when he was 10yrs and they kept having sex till he was 17yrs. That's utterly disgusting I must say.

I weighed the pros and cons of having a maid, the cons outweighed the pros and that's how I resolved never to have a maid again. I invested more on labor saving machines/equipments  and DH helps when and where he can as well. Not easy though with my multitude of kids...whew! Family planning that has always failed women since the days of Abraham. I'll gist you guys on that in my next post.

It happened a friend of mine lost a 17week old pregnancy and only told me the tragic news today while I was at work. I promised to check on her unfailingly today to console and encourage her been that i've been there and I sure know how painfully it is. I'll narrate my ordeal on my miscarriage on a stand alone post. 

When I got to her home I met her niece and her two kids playing on the patio, I asked for their Mommy and I was told she was in the shower I decided to sit on the lawn chair at the patio and  wait for her. Muna the older of the kids whom is so fund of my older son asked after him and I promised i'll bring Josh over for a play date soon. I'd say Muna is quite an overly active kid that talks a bit too much ‎, before I could even rehearse my first line of consolation I wanted to offer his Mommy he had narrated 10different stories. How his daddy bought him a tablet device, took him to Games, bought him a swatch wrist watch and so on...he went on to say he loves his daddy so much but he beats mummy a lot. My ears  stood as I heard that last story,
" your daddy beats your  Mommy"? I Asked Muna.
He said yes confidently and added his Daddy only beats Mummy at night and quickly started giving sexual movements to show how Daddy beats Mommy. I was too shocked to say a word, I began to wonder what this little dude have been exposed to this early in life. How could his parents be so careless to practice the precious moments in front of their son? Enough of the entertainment I said to myself, I quickly told him to remind his Mommy I was around. 

When she came we exchanged pleasantries and I consoled her sincerely and promised her God will always replace every loss in her life. She expressed her gratitude and offered me a malt drink. We talked a bit on current affairs and life generally and I announced my intention to leave. She asked to take a walk with me since I wasn't mobile, on our way I decided to tell her of the "special"‎ Mommy and Daddy fight Muna told me about. She obviously was embarrassed but that wasn't my aim, my aim was make her aware it isn't the right thing to do in front of minors even though you think they are asleep. 

She threatened to spank Muna, well, I didn't discourage her from doing that, an 8years old boy should learn what to say and what not to say. ‎
‎

On this note I urge parents to be discrete with there bedroom activities around their kids. ‎ Don't assume they are kids and don't know what you both are doing or they are sleeping. Suspend or take it elsewhere if around minors, you could ignorantly be teaching them something very wrong, you wouldn't want them to practice it on someone else's kid, would you?

But, I would say- keep writing those ORIGINAL articles, and get more post titles like the ones you already have, and Google will keep sending you organic traffic. The more you write, the more traffic google sends your way. And the older your blog gets, the higher you are ranked by google. So, for now, just keep writing.
