The team has been struggling for form lately, but it will be naive to judge Ole based on just that. Until Ole has a transfer window to bring in some additional players of his own choosing and a full preseason with the players i am not going to judge him. This is a team that was built by a defensive coach and that has played reactive football for several seasons now, so expecting Ole to change everything in 3 months is naive. |
Lana1:It is all about the goal difference. Conceding cheap goals might prove costly esp in this top 4 race in which 4 teams are trying to squeeze into 2 positions. |
Lana1:Elampiro is busy. He is a bank manager ffs. ![]() |
No excuses. Poor game overall though Jones, Shaw, and Smalling were good. It does not take extra energy to make accurate passes so that energy conservation theory no work. However we take the 3 points and move on to the next one. If Matic and Herrera are starters next season we will struggle to make much progress. |

raumdeuter:Surgery ke? Shey no be bad market be this one? |
Excallibur:Sounds like good advice. As a general rule othopaedic specialists prefer to delay joint replacement until later in life I.e 60s and 70s in 1st world countries, possibly 50s in Nigeria (due to the difference in life expectancy). This is because the replacements have a life span and they would not want to have to replace the replacements down the line. So for moderate arthritis or for arthritis not involving the whole joint they initially go for minimally invasive procedures like arthroscopic washouts and your resurfacing ( which is partial joint replacement). So depending on the level and type of arthritis the resurfacing might give good benefits without being as stressful a procedure as a total joint replacement. But finally your uncle should sit down and discuss all aspects with the surgeon before agreeing to it. And if he is still in doubt he can seek a second opinion from another specialist. The final choice should be made by him (your uncle). |
Excallibur:Not in detail as i am not an orthopedic surgeon. Who is it for? Hopefully not you? |
Oasis007:He be like say you guys think this DoF matter na simple matter. Man Utd situation and the rebuilding needed is more complicated than the Barca situation where Abidal met a decent squad and Lionel Messi who can paper over any cracks. Eric Cantona is the no 1 reason i started supporting Manchester United almost 30 yrs ago, but i don't want him to be DoF. He is an ACTOR not a football administrator with links all over Europe and with an understanding of the nature of specific agents and how the transfer market works. If we want a legend so desperately we can get Van Der Sar from Ajax. Let the Ole story not make us believe all you need to do is pack legends in the club and everything will be fine. OK. |
weedtaker:It was when the guy said he wanted to show a different similar scenario that i knew he was confused. |
The signing helps us negotiate transfers with more confidence. I can only imagine the kind of JAMB questions that potential transfer targets will be asking if we negotiate with an interim manager. I am not even overly concerned with this season as long as the team moves in the right direction. Next season we stabilize and the season after the next we make a challenge. Trying to skip stages of development and aiming to win big titles at once is what led us to Sanchez, Schweinsteiger, Zlatan etc. |
Lana1:Woodward needs a director of football to save him from himself. The salary he gave Sanchez is what is causing all the rumors with Pogba, Herrera and De Gea. |
obainojazz:No. Not with the flat yansh wey all of them carry. |
This should be our number 1 transfer target. Solves the RW problem and can solve any LW issues if Martial continues to blow hot and cold. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kaA2ofWNS_A |

raumdeuter:Tried to count. But i am not sure it is even that relevant to my original point, which was to introduce defensive excellence to indomie generation. There is a time and place for tackling in the game, so i am not as down on it as you are. Having said that, there is no doubt in my mind that interception is a superior skill set to tackling. If you don't read the game properly and anticipate well you won't be great at making interceptions. If you make an interception you stand a minor chance of committing a foul, and you also keep the ball and can initiate a counter. When you make a tackle you are at a higher risk of committing a foul, you may not keep the ball and therefore might not totally avert danger apart from not being able to initiate offence. If you watch the clip you can see Baresi initiating counter attacks with his interceptions, but his tackles mainly led to his team conceding corner kicks and throw ins etc. |

Ibime:Apart from debilitating injuries a great CB should continue at a high level past 30. But that rule applies because Boateng and Luis are not great CBs. |
HanksAnuku:The tackle issue is not black and white. You might be making a tackle to atone for your own mistake, but the tackle might also to be to atone for your team mates mistake. Or to send a message as Vinnie Jones and Chopper Harris dem used to do back in the day. However tackles are definitely inferior to interceptions. With interceptions you have lower risk and greater reward and it suggests greater mental aptitude ( reading the game, anticipation). In that World Cup Final clip Don Franco had like 7 tackles, 7 interceptions, 5 clearances, 4 blocked shots. On one leg, unfit and not training for weeks, at 34yrs of age. |

kingBolton:He could do everything as a defender and was as good as a midfielder on the ball. He had unbelievable anticipation and acceleration, and was rarely beaten in the air because of his timing and leaping ability. Apart from the league title winning defences he played 4 major finals ( 3 champs league and 1 world cup) with his team conceding a total of 1 goal. More from the God of defending. Even Maradona had to pay tribute. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr2xKLsKAMs?t=686 |

raumdeuter:Yeah Baggio's thigh was wrapped up. A fit Baggio and Italy might have stolen it, cos with the way Baresi played Italy was not going to concede even if they played 5 hours. Arrigo Sacchi went defensive and Signori suffered for it. Also generally his international career suffered from him playing in the same era as Baggio. Del Piero and Totti in a later period caused a similar problem for managers. |
kingBolton:He was very, very good with the ball. Used to start lots of counters for Milan charging down the middle of the field sharing the ball right and left. He was essentially a DM playing last man. |
raumdeuter:The belief in him was too strong. He and Baggio who was also injured were penalty specialists, probably the best along with Signori in the whole squad. I remember an article where an opponent said that it looked like there was an invisible rope connecting Baresi's hand to the linesman's flag, cos whenever Baresi raised his hand and walked forward the flag would go up for offside. |
Unlimited22:In terms of CBs Baresi was the best i ever saw, better than Maldini who was great himself. Beckenbauer was before my time but he is the acclaimed no 1 amongst all defenders. From tapes i would suggest Baresi just edges it in terms of just pure defending while Beckenbauer who was a wonderful man marker himself was also better in terms of his vision, ability on the ball, and elegance. They were both complete so you can't go wrong with either. My personal favourite was Baresi because he was the Michael Jordan of defenders when i was a kid. |
The God of defending. 34yrs old, one leg hampered by hamstring issues and the other leg hampered by knee issues, suffering from cramps all day, World Cup Final.............easy work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boPQNpPvJq0?t=203 |
