Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Saturday urged voters in Epe Divison to vote en masse for candidates of the All Progressives Congress across the board to ensure the continuation of the good works of the party both in the State and in the country at large.

Ambode spoke in Epe during a meeting with leaders of APC in the division, which was called at his instance.

He said it was time for the people to put events before and after the APC governorship primaries in the state which produced Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governorship candidate of the party behind them and truly unite for the party’s victory.

Ambode said it became imperative for him to meet with the leaders to let them know that all members must submit to the decision of the party.

“All of us are brothers and sisters because this is a close-knit community. It is now time for us to work together for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari and election of Mr Sanwo-Olu because Epe cannot be left behind.

“I know that in view of what happened, some people are still aggrieved but what I want you to know is that there is no way PDP will work for the development of our division like APC.

“We are also all aware that for the past 16 years of PDP, they did not do anything in Epe division and it is only the APC that has been doing something for Lagos and for the country.

“I want to assure you that Epe will benefit more if we vote for APC.

“All my achievements in the last three and half years will be improved upon if Sanwo-Olu wins and so I want to urge you all to come out and vote for APC because that is how we can secure the future of our children and this division.’’

Also speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Governorship Candidate of APC in the state, Dr Obafemi Hamzat thanked Ambode and all the leaders in the division.

Hamzat said the governor displayed unusual maturity and character which eloquently confirmed that he was a man with a large heart.

“I want to thank Gov. Ambode for being a man with a large and great heart.

“What you are doing is unusual and I want to assure you that you have a future and that future will be very soon. We will do everything to protect your interest and that of Epe division.

“Gov. Ambode has done his best and we will do our best to continue his legacies and build on what he has done to further develop our dear state, ‘’ Hamzat said.

Those that attended the meeting were: Senator representing Lagos East, Gbenga Ashafa; and a member of the House of Representatives representing Epe, Wale Raji.

Others were: Chief Lanre Razaq, former House of Assembly Speakers, Adeyemi Ikuforiji and Jokotola Pelumi; Alhaji Akanni Bamu, among others.

An audio recording of Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi, deriding the national leadership of the party has gone viral on social media, indicating that the persistent crisis trailing the controversial gubernatorial primaries of the APC has become intractable.





Adebiyi, who spoke to a select group of political appointees and officials of APC across Ogun State, was until he became the state chairman the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Ibikunle Amosun on Political Affairs.

A petrol tanker has exploded at Forte Oil filling station located very close to the local airport in Lagos State.

Sources from the airport confirmed this to Channels Television on Friday shortly after the incident occurred.

The tanker, according to them, exploded while discharging its content in the reservoir.

It is yet to be ascertained if there are casualties as a result of the incident.

Mr Adeyanju, a former political operative of the Peoples Democratic Party, had led several protests against public institutions and persons since resigning as social media director of the opposition party in early 2017.


The Wuse Zone 2 Chief Magistrate’s Court in Abuja on Tuesday remanded Deji Adeyanju in prison, moments after the Ex-PDP Youth Leader was arraigned on a petition filed by Chief of Army Staff Tukur Buratai.

Magistrate Idayat Akanni said Mr Adeyanju should be returned to Keffi Prison, about 40 minutes drive from Abuja, until November 6 when his application for bail would be heard.

The police arraigned Mr Adeyanju on Mr Buratai’s grievances, which included cyberstalking, defamation and incitement. Details of how the top military chief was affected by the allegations were not immediately learnt when the matter was first heard at about 4:38 p.m. on Tuesday.

First arrested on November 28 for leading a protest against partisan conduct of security chiefs, Mr Adeyanju will be spending his seventh night in custody after being whisked away to the federal prisons in Keffi on Ms Akanni’s order late Tuesday afternoon.

The police urgently arraigned Mr Adeyanju after arresting him on November 8 on allegations raging from public disturbance to criminal defamation. Police spokesperson Jimoh Moshood said Mr Adeyanju’s activities on social media, which portrayed the institution and its leaders in bad light, have been documented and would be used as exhibit in his trial.

Mr Adeyanju was granted bail after the arraignment last Wednesday, but he was unable to meet the conditions until December 3.

After being freed from Keffi Prison upon posting his bail against the police charges on Monday night, the Ex PDP youth Leader in Ondo state was immediately rearrested on the spot by a separate police team which his associates said had laid siege to the prison in anticipation of his release.

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has returned to Abuja after failing to secure assurances from the US Department of Justice that he will not be arrested in the United States



Atiku who was reported to have been granted a US visa to travel to the United States was in London on Thursday prior to his departure to the United States.

A group, Initiative To Save Democracy said that it has credible information that the PDP presidential candidate returned to Nigeria after failing to secure assurances from the US Department of Justice that he will not be arrested if he sets his foot on the soil of the United States.

TheCable had reported exclusively that the Waziri Adamawa secured a US visa and had travelled to the United Kingdom from where he will fly into the United states where he had not been able to step foot for more than 13 years.

But the group in a statement signed by its president, Akinloye James said Atiku had on Thursday travelled to the United Kingdom after securing a United States Visa from where he hopes to travel to the United States.

“His mission in the United Kingdom is to get the British Government to help him secure the assurances of the United States Department of Justice that he will not be arrested upon setting foot in US soil. But the British government is reported to have informed Abubakar that the US Department of Justice has made it clear that it cannot guarantee he will not be arrested.”

Atiku has refused to travel to the United States since the case of money laundering allegation involving him and a US congressman, Williams Jefferson came to limelight.

His counterpart in the United States, Williams Jefferson has already served jail term and made to refund part of the money traced to him for money laundering, but Atiku has since been walking free even though he has been unable to set foot in the US.

Having failed to secure the assurances of the British government and fearing that he may be arrested by the International Police (InterPol), Atiku quickly returned to Nigeria to forestall any possible arrest.

Paul Ibe, Head of the Atiku Media Office who has been speaking on behalf of the PDP presidential candidate prior to appointing a spokesman for his campaign tweeted a while ago that Atiku has since returned to Abuja.

An Awori woman from Ado Odo Ota local Government of Ogun state, Noimot is the daughter of late Professor Lateef A. Less than a week to commencement of Gubernatorial campaign for 2019 election, All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has adjusted campaign structure, appointing Governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s aide, Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef and Lagos House of Assembly, Deputy Speaker, Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni as Directors.

The adjustment was embarked upon to ensure that candidates of other political parties vying for the seat were kept on their toes till after the election.

Besides, the campaign team also adopted Independent Campaign Group (ICG) platform to run an inclusive campaign house that would accommodate aggrieved members and form a joint front ahead of 2019 election.

Under the new structure, 43 members of the party were appointed based on their expertise as directors and coordinators who were to serve across the three senatorial districts in the state.

After the adjustment, Tayo Ayinde was appointed as Director-General of Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group (BOSICG), haven previously served in same position before the merger of Ambode and Sanwo-Olu campaign teams.

Aside him, Sanwo-Olu also appointed former APC Vice Chairman, Cardinal James Odunbaku as Deputy Director-General for the group.



At the inauguration yesterday, Ayinde announced the names of directors of the each created directorates, with various tasks tied to the entire positions.

On the list, Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) former chairman, Moshood Salvador, was announced as Assistant Director-General who would oversee the group’s affairs in West Senatorial district of the state; with responsibility of coordinating President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign in Lagos.

To handle other senatorial districts, the gubernatorial candidate appointed former lawmaker, Wahab Alawiye-King, also as Assistant Director-General for Lagos Central Senatorial district while former chairman, Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Yetunde Arobieke as Assistant Director-General for the East senatorial district.



Also on the director list were Eshinlokun-Sanni, who was appointed to oversea Research and Intelligence, Commissioner for Home Affairs and Culture, Abdul-Lateef, was assigned for Conflict Resolution while Lagos State former Solicitor-General, Lawal Pedro, was made to handle the group’s legal affairs.

Also, former Commissioner for Agriculture, Enoch Ajiboso, was appointed as Director, Community Affairs and former Commissioner for Rural Development, Cornelius Ojelabi, as Assistant Director-General, Lagos West (Badagry axis).

As Sanwo-Olu announced his appointment, a source from APC secretariat, disclosed that the party had created nine directorates that would handle 2019 election campaign for the party in the state.

The source said that, though, the party was making efforts to compel Sanwo-Olu’s ICG to collapse 41 directorate structures to nine, but that may not be achievable since the independent campaign group’s aim was to harmonize all aggrieved party members after the recently conducted primary election.

He hinted that the party had invited Ayinde and Odunbaku on the aforementioned but met stiff resistance of directors who were earlier privy to APC plan.

According to him, the party may have no option than to stay away from the group’s structure and accept Sanwo-Olu’s campaign plan.

Meanwhile, as part of the strategy to reach rural dwellers, an arm of Sanwo-Olu’s ICG was also established to engage citizens at grassroots level across the state.

The arm, ICG Grassroots Engagement Committee, as part of its responsibility is saddled with the responsibility of coordinating street canvassers and artisans within the state.

As part of the group’s responsibility, they would mobilise Community Development Association and Community Development Committee and other grassroots based organizations, basically to ensure full participation during electioneering campaign.

The Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said that he will transfer 57 buses belonging to All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State to a new party.

He made this known at a meeting hosted at his residence on Monday, He assured his supporters of his “winning formula” saying he will give each to a Local Government Coordinator in each of the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDA).

Newsacross.com reports that Amosun has bought the 57 buses to be used for the campaign of the APC in anticipation that his preferred Governorship candidate, Hon. Adekunle Akinlade, and others on his Consensus list will clinch the 40 APC elective tickets in the state.

Since the emergence of billionaire oil mogul, Prince Dapo Abiodun, as the APC gubernatorial candidate, alAmosun has made at least eight visitations to President Buhari to turn the tide against the candidate, but the President has refused to be persuaded by Amosun, insisting that “the party is supreme.”

The latest decision by Amosun to transfer the 57 buses, according to an insider, was an indication that the governor has come to the reality that Dapo Abiodun can no longer be replaced as the governorship candidate of APC in Ogun.

Just on Monday, the Chairman of Labour Party in Ogun State, Mr. Abayomi Arabambi, said on a live radio programme monitored in Abeokuta that his party is finalizing talks with Governor Amosun and that the governorship candidate of the Labour Party will be picked from Ipokia Local Government. Amosun’s protégé, Hon Akinlade hails from Ipokia Local Government in Ogun State.

The controversial Arabambi, who spoke on a radio programme tagged ‘Fact Finder’ on Sweet FM 107.1, confirmed ongoing talks between his party and the Amosun-led faction of APC. He explained that the party was still within the constitutional right to substitute the name before the electoral umpire’s deadline.

The Federal Ministry of Education on Wednesday in Abuja honoured Dr Victor Olalusi who scored 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) in Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow (RNRMU) in 2013, arguably the first in the world.

Olalusi, who was the best graduating student in the whole Russian Federation in 2013, studied in RNRMU under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement.

Speaking at the event, Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala, the Permanent Secretary in the ministry said a lot of Nigerian students were brilliant but Olalusi was a genius.

He said Olalusi had become an ambassador not only to the ministry but to Nigeria and Russia.

“We have to search the Guinness Book of Records for anybody who has achieved 5.0 in a university. It is curious and strange that all those that evaluated his performance could not find reason to reduce a point from him.

“You should be the ambassador of the Federal Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, Nigeria and the Russian Federation.

“I look forward to the day you will stand before the President to receive your honour. We have recommendations to that effect, ’’ Nwaobiala said.

Victor OlalusiHe then urged Olalusi to continue to be a role model to young Nigerians and also called on him to explore opportunities in post graduate research.

In her speech, Mrs Ifeoma Agunwa, the Director, Federal Scholarship Board, said Olalusi made 5.0 GPA in all the courses he took in the seven years he studied Medicine in Russia.

She said “Olalusi never had a 4.99 GPA. Even in the Russian language class, he did not fall below 5.0.”

In her citation on Olalusi, Agunwa said he ranked as one of the best students in the faculty which handed him a place in RNRMU’s Hall of fame for academic excellence.

She said that Olalusi had registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria and had the compulsory one-year housemanship training at State Specialist Hospital, Akure, Ondo State.

According to her, he is presently going through the compulsory National Youth Service scheme in Rivers.

Mr Artem Romanov, who represented the Russian Embassy, said that Olalusi’s feat was very significant for everybody in Russia.

Romanov said “Nigeria is blessed with abundant human potential which is officially acknowledged in Russia.

“It has been acknowledged in the Russian Ministry of Education that Nigerians have a lot of exceptional talents. Genetically, Nigerians grasp knowledge easily.

“Olalusi is a hardworking person. It is not easy to achieve such in Russia; it goes with talent and hard work.

“I urge you to engage your knowledge in the development of your father land.”

While showing his appreciation, Olalusi thanked God for his rare feat and also commended the Federal Government and the Scholarship Board for the opportunity given to young Nigerians to distinguish themselves.

Mr Olarewaju Olalusi, the father of Olalusi, said that his son’s achievement was as a result of hard work.

Olalusi said his son did not attend high class schools but normal public schools which spoke volumes of the standard of education in Nigeria.

He then urged parents to monitor their wards closely and make sure they were not distracted from their studies.
