Thank you for that. That was in the olden days but you and I weren't even born then. I don't know the Religion you subscribe to, but marriage of younger women to far older men is a norm in the days of old. An example you may relate to is that of Mary (The mother of Jesus) and Joseph.

According to Christian Scholars, Mary was between the ages of 8 -12 when she was married to Joseph who was between 90-95....... They differ on the exact age, but that's the range.

Salam alekun @all....I think everyone has a point but we are having this argument because of perspective issues, and we are mistaking Arab countries for Islamic countries... Being Arab does not make one a better muslim, what Islam real preaches is not where you are from but what you know and practice, Ironically Rasulilahi (S.A.w) said somethings about the Arabs that many of us know...The Arabs are proud and vain and when it comes to discrimination, the West are learners where the Arabs are. having said that we can not fail to see sense in some of their Laws especially that with women. it is known and accepted even amongst we living in secular state that it's very rare to see true platonic relationship between the opposite sex, and in Saudi Arabia the law on Jobs getting better, In Iran for example. A woman can do almost anything a Man can do, while we all remember the women who serve as guard to late Gaddafi. It is true that the monarchs live above the law and make some Laws that obviously made out of vanity.example is when they say don't send particular prayer on Abu kazeem (S.A.W) but want to be referred to as Jalal. and the issue is the same about pictures..


But we should all know is that HUMANS WILL ALWAYS BE HUMANS and since Allah says he is the Hakim li Hakam. Our society can never be perfect or be as prescribe by Allah or his prophet. So I will live anywhere, where I can worship my lord without interference and within my knowledge of my religion(which increases everyday) without judging others based on their faith or religion. I can preach to them or best of all demonstrate my religion by behaving towards them as taught by my faith but I can not force them to accept....Allah says their is no compulsion in religion. and even told his friend and messenger that he was not appointed as a guard over his people.

I believe women should have places in government, as special advisers or councillors.... because people have always been seeking council of the mothers of believers (the prophet's wives).... and if there was anything wrong with that,the companions would have frowned at it.....

Logic would even tell us that the best person to give counsel to a woman is surely another woman, you know women like themselves nah.....

pls be informed there is no any other religion that protects the right of women and other religions like Islam does.

secondly, Islam helps other category of people you mentioned like the gays and the rest by ensuring they are prevented from engaging in such acts through stipper penalties as ordained by Allah.

Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar... I won't think twice before going to any of the above listed countries but most preferably Saudi Arabia, if I have the opportunity.
Living in Saudi Arabia will give me the opportunity to live in a peaceful country where I will be able to practice my religion as Allah wants it, where life and properties are rightly secured.
Human rights is not abused in Saudi Arabia as long as it does not go against the tenets of Islam
