Politics › Re: Over 80,000 Women, Youths Resolve To Support Jonathan In Adamawa by agabaI23(m): 10:03pm On Mar 18, 2015 |
ellechrystal: Daji Sani in Yola
Over 80 000 women and youths drawn from various political pressure groups, civil societies and Non-governmental organisations across the 21 local government area of Adamawa State have resolved to identify with the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan. The Adamawa State Coordinator, Goodluck Support Group, GSG, Gimbiya Vivian Nashan, who disclosed this to newsmen on Friday, said that the over 120 organisations have registered under the aegis of the GSG, amounting to over 80,000 persons mostly youths and women.
The state coordinator explained that the groups have out of their own volition decided to identify with the re-election bid of Jonathan because of his transformation agenda of the president which youths and women are major beneficiaries.
Nashan further explained that the ,Goodluck Support Group, had earlier centralised propagation of the re-election bid of Jonathan, but its leadership have now decided to decentralise campaigns at the grassroots and to justify the genuine intentions of the associations in the promotional bid of Jonathan's re-election.
She said the requirement for registration was that all members of the group must have their Permanent Voters Cards PVCs adding that those that registered for Goodluck Support Group included women associations as well as faith based organisations ,political pressure groups and civil societies who have met the requirements for registration under GSG.
Nashan disclosed that over 8,000 associations had so far registered with GSG at the National level ,who have on their own printed campaign materials including T Shirts, vents, Fez caps ,while more are still anxious to get registered with the GSG, which is the umbrella body for those supporting re-election bid of Jonathan.
According to her, Jonathan had overwhelming support of Nigerians because of his transformation agenda, in railway transportation system, network of roads across the country, SURE- P ,Graduate Internship Scheme and a host of other programmes initiated by President Jonathan.
"While other presidential candidates are charting what they would do for the nation, President Goodluck Jonathan, had already been tested and trusted as reflected by his performance. Hence, the agitation by Nigerians that he should be re-elected to do more for the country." Nashan said
She however used the forum, to advise Nigerians buying PVCs to desist because the purchase of PVCs were at variance with the law of the land and a would deny such Nigerians the freedom to choose credible and God fearing leaders through electoral process. Madam Mary Emmanuel a member of Adamawa Women for Change, who disclosed that the reasons why Adamawa women were rushing to identify with the Jonathan group is connected to current successes the Nigerian troops are gaining over the Boko Haram insurgents.
Emmanuel said they were deceived initially that the President was behind Boko Haram that was why he didn't want the insurgency to end adding that "it is now cleared to us that some desperate people initiated the sect to give the president a bad name" " Thank God for aiding the President and Nigerians troops to have upper hand over the Boko Haram insurgents bedevilling the north east.
" Therefore we want to reward President Jonathan for his efforts to liberates our homes despite the conspiracies heap against him and to deny him a second chance" she said.
She said many women and youths are beneficiaries of the transformation agenda of President Jonathan especially the Sure P and You Win programs and she see no reason why they will campaign for this president that has better the life of Nigerians. She said they have promised to intensify campaign for Jonathan in that cause across the 21 local government areas of the state.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/over-80-000-women-youths-resolve-to-support-jonathan-in-adamawa/204040/ Way to go, yesterday it 120 Atiku support group, today it is 80 thousand Adamawa women. Tomorrow, it will be farmers union in the North. I am watching in 3D |

hush15: Look, a wise man once told me that you can't fight criminals by being one of them. Its like trying to play smart with the devil who is referred to as king of lies and deciet! Who do you even win! The only is solution the bible recommend is to resist him and he will flee. So why not buhari resist and maintain his belief and maybe light will shine one him should nemesis pardon him than reach such a compromise. The presidency is not a one man show and like I shared somedays back that Buhari can't be president, special adviser, special aide, minister, minister of state, director general, perm secretary, and ordinary civil servant all together. He will work with people to drive his policies and if those one are either overzealous or are those who don't give a damn and corrupted ones who ends up abusing power and the worst part, he cannot sack anyhow cos he needs to discuss with his party people on matters like this largely cos its a democratic system now.
And trust me, they will only fustrate his effort should he pester them too much. If as a military head, his autocratic rule and discpline enforcement could only last 2yrs and he was chased out by his own counterparts, I really don't see him doing much or lasting that long to get him out. Its really easy to fustrate him since he can't switch to his autocratic system as back then. All that's is needed is the majority of the national assembly and more easily should the opposition carry the majority of the national assembly. Protest won't change anything then but to throw the economy into chaos and anarchy again.
Let's think this tu before making the thumb print.
As hard as it isto accept, Jo is the only stabilizin force nigerian needs for that next four years these are times where we need to think deep and make the right choices so we don't keep making the same mistakes and starting our journey all over again.
God bless nigeria and nigerians Your head is correct. |
