Crime10 Feared Dead In Ile-ife As Yoruba, Hausa Clash-True Casualty Figures by AgentOrange(op):
By Gbenga Olarinoye Osogbo—Not fewer than 10 people were reportedly killed in a clash at the Sabo area of Ile-Ife when the ancient city was yesterday engulfed in a bloody clash between the indigenes of the town and the Hausa community. Though no tangible reason was given for the crisis but a source said, trouble started when an Hausa man living in Sabo area of the town was allegedly accused of having love affair with the wife of an Ife man who reportedly went over-boards when he discovered what happened.

The incident said to have happened on Tuesday night degenerated into a bloody clash between the two communities yesterday leading to the killing and destruction of property from both sides. Aregbesola imposes curfew on Ife Meantime, the Osun state government has declared a two day curfew in the entire Ile-Ife City. According to a statement from the Director of Bureau of Communication, Media and Strategy to governor Rauf Aregbesola, Mr Semiu Okanlawon; “The curfew has been compelled by the breach of the peace in the area which led to avoidable destruction of lives and properties.

‘’The curfew, which will be between 6pm to 7am, will be in force till Friday.” CHAOS: One of the scenes of the crisis in Ile-Ife, yesterday. The crisis While the crises lasted, dangerous weapons such as daggers, guns, clubs, arrows, cutlasses and swords were freely used in a free for all between the two warring tribes. Eyewitness told Vanguard that, the people organised themselves into two formidable groups to match themselves strength for strength in the frightening battle.

At the battle ground around Sabo area of the town, the Hausas were said to have used freely daggers, arrow and bow to confront the Yoruba who were said to be armed with dane guns, cutlasses and other traditional weapons. Also, several shops were reportedly looted by miscreants who took advantage of the violence that engulfed the ancient city to perpetrate the act. Shop owners around the place briskly locked up their shops while the environment was completely deserted by both commercial and private vehicles. Residents of the area had relocated to another part of the town to escape the bloodbath.

Some of the persons killed in the mayhem were said to have been burnt while bonfire was also made by both sides. A combined team of anti riot, regular and mobile policemen were on ground to maintain peace as they were seen at strategic positions, milling around the scene of the incident. Speaking on the development, Imam Muhammed Basir, the Senior Special Assistant to Osun state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Arewa matters, said; ‘’The situation has taken a very dangerous dimension because as I am talking to you, one person had been shot dead. ‘’I have notified the state governor and the police commissioner, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye and the State Director of the Department of State Security Services on the development.’’ In his own comment, the acting Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar Koji while speaking through the command Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Folasade Odoro, said that, the security men were in control of the situation.

However, soldiers from Engineering Construction Regiment, Ede were drafted to the scene of the crisis to quell further killings and destruction of property. Govt orders immediate quelling of crisis Osun state government said it has caused deployment of heavy security forces to the scene of the crisis in Ile Ife in Ife Central West Local Council Development Area of the state. A statement from the Office of the Governor, signed by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon, assured of the readiness of the security forces to quell the face-off which has led to the destruction of properties in affected areas of the ancient city. “This is to assure all and sundry that the breach of the peace in Ile Ife is not beyond the control of our highly mobilized security forces. “To this end, the governor of the state of Osun, upon receiving reports of the fracas, the exact cause of which is still under investigation, has ordered deployment of adequate security forces and is getting minute-by-minute situation reports. “The Government therefore warns those involved in this act of criminal breach of public peace to end it immediately as the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on anyone arrested.”

Ooni Ogunwusi appeals to warring parties The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, Ojaja11, also appealed to the warring Yoruba and Hausa factions to give peace a chance. Speaking through his media aide, Comrade Moses Olafare, the monarch said that, he had instructed some palace officials to see to the rescue of the Hausas who were arrested by the Ifes in the mayhem. The monarch was quoted as telling the people of Ife to ensure that no more live or property is lost while the law enforcement agencies are allowed to restore peace to the community. He told his subjects to ensure that they allow peace to reign in their domain so that his efforts since ascending the throne to ensure peace in his domain, Yorubaland and Nigeria as a whole would not be in vain.

He stated that, peace would soon be fully restored between the two warring factions in the town. He appealed to the two factions to tolerate one another and live as one without segregation, sectionalism, tribalism and nepotism saying all tribes are one in the country. Vanguard gathered that casualties are from both the Hausa and Yoruba communities including children from both sides. Some of the victims that received varied degrees of injuries are receiving treatment at the Obafemi Awolowo University Hospital Teaching Hospital Complex, Ile-Ife. Meanwhile, normalcy is gradually returning to the ancient town as the security agencies combined to ensure no more damage is done on both sides.

Something is happening.
CrimeHausa Trader Kills Yoruba Driver Over N30 In Lagos by AgentOrange(op): 12:04pm On Jan 31, 2017
There was chaos on Monday on Mojeed Sanni Street, in the Igando area of Lagos State, after a 40-year-old Hausa trader, Ibrahim Adamu, allegedly killed a bus driver, Lekan Adeleke.

Some residents and friends of the victim made a bonfire on the road as they chased away Hausa traders in the community, threatening to avenge the killing.

The men were on the rampage when policemen from the Igando division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, Olatunji Ajimuda, stormed the area.

The police team reportedly took Adeleke’s corpse to a mortuary, while the suspect, who was saved from being mobbed to death, was taken to the Area M command.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the deceased had bought noodles worth N230 from the suspect’s son on Sunday around 10.30pm.

He was reported to have paid N200 and promised to pay the balance of N30 the following day, which didn’t go down well with the suspect’s son.

The son allegedly reported to his father, Adamu, who became angry and attacked 30-year-old Adeleke with a spiked plank.

The victim reportedly slumped and hit his head against the concrete edge of a gutter in the area.

A friend of the victim, Kehinde Akinduro, said Adamu had a kiosk where he sold confectioneries, while the son sold noodles beside the kiosk.

He explained that Adeleke had actually paid the balance of N30 to the suspect’s son.

He said, “He was joking with the boy that despite being a customer, he went and reported him to his father. They started abusing each other. At this time, the son was already preparing noodles for me on the instruction of Adeleke.

“The next thing I saw was that Adamu, who was eavesdropping, brought out a spiked plank and hit Adeleke with it. I cautioned him, but he faced me and hit me in the leg. I sustained some injuries.

“When Adeleke saw that he could no longer handle the situation, he took to his heels. But the man followed him and hit him in the head as he tried to jump the gutter. He fell and hit his head against the edge of the gutter.

“When Adamu saw that he had become unconscious, he took him into his kiosk and poured water on his head. He was doing this when a large number of residents stormed the place. When he sighted them, he abandoned the man and took to his heels.”

He said the suspect, speaking in Hausa, asked his son to flee in another direction.

“The boy escaped, but we were able to get Adamu. We called the police and handed him over to them,” he added.

The mob was said to have destroyed Adamu’s kiosk and set it on fire after Adeleke died around 12am on Monday.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the victim and the suspect had a close relationship.

One of Adeleke’s close friends, Tunde, said the victim once protected Adamu from a robbery attack.

“But Adamu is ill-tempered,” he added.

Tunde appealed for support for Adeleke’s family members, whom he said depended solely on him.

Our correspondent was told that the victim had recently bought a piece of land in Ogun State where he planned to build a house for his wife and nine-year-old daughter.

A bus driver, who did not want to be identified, said the policemen from the Igando division handled the situation maturely.

“The DPO spoke with the protesters. He released N15,000 for the corpse to be deposited in a morgue,” he added.

A source said a mob invaded the Igando Police Station in a bid to lynch the suspect.

He said the DPO quickly transferred the suspect to the Area M Command.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, said investigations were ongoing.

She said, “It was a case of murder. One Adamu used a plank to hit a bus driver, Adeleke, in the head which led to his death. The corpse was deposited in the Mainland General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

“Meanwhile, we have intensified patrol in the area as normalcy has been restored.”

Lagos – A 24-year-old unemployed man, Blessing Agboola, was on Wednesday remanded in Kirikiri Prisons by an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for defiling a 3-year-old girl. The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded Agboola in prison after he had pleaded guilty for defiling the minor.

Elias adjourned the case to Dec. 5 for sentencing.

The accused, who resides at Odutola St., Alimosho, a suburb of Lagos, was charged for defilement. The Prosecutor, Sgt. Rafael Donny, told the court that the offence was committed on Oct. 28 at the accused residence.

Donny said that the accused defiled a 3-year-old daughter of his neighbour in his room. “It was the cry of the baby that alerted her mother and caught the accused in the act,” he said. He said that the offence contravenes Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

There will be no Southern unity.

Yoruba existed alone before Nigeria was conceived.. We exist and survive alone now independent of any external surrogate. We will exist and do better by ourselves into the future, and exclusive of any and all race of people that do not share root in Oduduwa legacy.

Those wanting Yoruba in a Southern alliance are cowards that are afraid of North. Yoruba has never been afraid of North or anyone else, not now, not in future.
Here they come again beating their rusty and hollow chest.

You never needed alliance yet your own afonja went and called the fulani to help him exhibiting the usual treacherous nature of yorubas and after that, they executed him and took over your land till tomorrow an emir is there.

You cowards were being dealt with for months by ordinary minority ijaw militants yet you could not help yourselves until after the military came to your rescue then yorubas came out hitting their shests and threatening to change into snakes and lions to fight ordinary ijaw militants. grin grin grin
