appreciate more thoughts on this Aghatise: I got a medical request - paper route, PhD MUN, no upfront medical. Once I do the medical, do I still need to notify CIC via email that this has been done If no, how long does this take for CIC to update my account after the medical? Otherwise, if I have to notify, what CIC email account can I use? Currently, background check and eligibility is under review. |

Which email ? Appreciate if you send me that. cecechi: From what I have seen so far, If you are given a slip/paper after the medicals, scan and send to their email. I did upfront but they still requested medicals from me, so i have sent over a dozen emails to them with the e medical slip I submitted during the application, still hoping for a response soon. |

if application is submitted via paper route and application is not linked online; will I still receive medical request via email? |

@ Martswoll for those that did the paper route application does medical request come as email to the individual ? Also, once the medical is done, do you still need to notify cic of completion via email to them - otherwise, is it automatic for them to receive the results of medical. Appreciate clarification for paper route applicant without upfront medicals and did not link application online. Martswoll: Nah I got a medical request, 28feb |

With this situation at Lagos VFS, can one submit to Abuja VFS even when all official letters/ documents have been addressed to the Deputy High Commission of Canada in Lagos? Any info about the situation report in VFS Abuja? AKFTK: 8am is too late bro, on Friday, I was there as early as 6:30am, and still couldn't submit. Some people got there as early as 4am.
And already, there's a list of people they will attend to first in Monday. The ones they couldn't attend to on Friday, they wrote their names in a register and they will be following that register on Monday.
I will advice anybody that wants to submit and he's in Lagos or it environs to use the online route. |

Thanks.... jnyuwa02: Yes application can be approved at the same time or simultaneously, in fact that is always the case if you apply both visas together. If applying for SOWP, you will have to wait for your visa to go through before applying for your wife and children to join. SOWP likely to be granted before the fall. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by Aghatise: 12:26pm On Apr 23, 2018 |
Yes I do have the marriage cert - thanks for the info and concern bro. mcobex: SOWP can only be applied for when the main applicant's trv has been approved, so its either you apply alone first then once you get approved you can now apply for your family or you apply for visiting for your family and on getting to Canada it will be converted. NB: Hope you have your marriage certificate? cos it will come handy |

Thank you bro - resumption is in Fall 18' (good news I can still do it) but can't both applications be approved at the same time Just wondering why it has to been done separate - for both pathways, the intention is the same (thinking out loud!!!... )anyway, the advise is noted! jnyuwa02: Yes you can apply for SOWP for your wife right now if you are not in a hurry after your approval. If your resumption is in the fall, I will highly recommend you do that. If your resumption is next month, you are out of time and visiting visa is more expeditious. |

Thanks for taking out time to respond to me and others on this forum - highly appreciate. Your explanation is noted. Just a quick one, with my given situation and knowing she would be there for 4yrs and likely work .... will it not be advisable to apply for an SOWP at this time for my wife - can't an SOWP be approved under my given circumstance (just for clarity bro)? Once again, thank you sooooooooooo much! jnyuwa02: No!! Student permit for you and visiting visa for your family. I recommended SoWp earlier thinking you had no travel history, which would make it extremely difficult for your family to win a visiting visa even though you have the funds to support them. But since you have extensive travel history, go ahead and apply for visiting visa for them and student visa for yourself. |

Thanks . kindly help me clarify this; since I am applying with the family do I have to apply for SOWP for my wife and TRV for the kids (minor)? Slik07: If you have enough fund to take care of your family in Canada, I would advise you apply for them together with yours. Going through SOWP no be small matter.
But if you dont have enough fund, then apply alone first and let your family apply via SOWP.
Best ot luck. |

thank you so much for this. Phocusjosh: What questions to answer in your SOP to the visa officer (not necessarily in this order):
1. Introduce yourself and course of study in Canada 2. Why do you wish to study in Canada in the program for which you have been accepted? 3. What is your overall educational goal and overall career goal? 4. What have you been doing (by way of employment/professional development) since the completion of your undergraduate studies and now? 5. How will this program enhance your employment opportunities in your country of residence/citizenship? (i.e. how will your skill be valuable to the Nigerian market?), i.e. briefly explain the impact of your course on your future career and your home country 6. Why are you not pursuing a similar program in your country of residence?
The key reason why you are writing this letter is to demonstrate to the embassy that your purpose of visiting Canada is genuine, and that you will come back to Nigeria after your studies. It has to be very persuasive. Btw, the embassy knows that you might not come back to Nigeria... they are not idiots... what they need to be convinced about is that you would freely come back to Nigeria if you cannot legally stay in Canada anymore.
To convince the VO (visa officer): 1. you will need to be specific about what it is your Canada education would help you do once you come back to Nigeria. Just saying that you will come back home not convincing 2. you need to be specific about what it is about that program or its curriculum that would help you achieve your stated goals 3. you need to be specific about what it is you have done that makes you a credible applicant
Basically, you need to emphasize on what you have done and exactly what you will do when you return to Nigeria (be very clear and unambiguous about this).

Well, I do have travel history ( studies(MSc), holidays and company training) - UK, USA, Europe, Africa; she also has been to the UK and USA a couple of times. Thank you so much for the swift response. jnyuwa02: Do you or your wife have extensive travel history? Meaning have you travelled to a lot of countries? If not, apply alone. I will advice you apply for an SOWP for your family to join you. Easier for them to win than a visitor’s visa. |

Thank you so much for the addition...truly appreciated. jnyuwa02: Very important part of a good SOP just to emphasize and must not be missed: what you intend to do upon return to Nigeria with the program; it’s lucrativenees and benefit to the Nigerian economy that warrants the difficulty and expenses of undergoing a foreign education. |
