Hi frds,

I just resumed this Fall at MUN (PhD) and my daughter is American (US passport); does she need any form of doc to enter Canada? Considering that I will be here for 4yrs will she be giving same duration on my visa? Anyone with similar experience or info? Appreciate your update as my family will be joining me soon.

Student visa received on 23 July 2018

Wife and 4yr old daughter applied on Aug 1, 2018 (Paper Route)

Actual approval: 23 August 2018 (Nairobi- Kenya)

Note: my wife is not working at the moment - homemaker

WIFE and DAUGHTER'S Documents:

1. Wife's SOP
2. Marriage Certificate with newspaper doc for change of name
3. Age declaration
4. BSc Certificate
5. NYSC Certificate
6. Catering Diploma - Part Time
7. Birth Certificate of my two daughters (second daughter is American so we did not apply for her) and my birth certificate too
8. 15 pictures of the family including our wedding on A4 paper
9. Travel history of wife to UK and USA
10. CIC forms for both (SOWP and TRV)
11. Copy of my admission letter / funding by University
12. Copy of my approved visa page
13. Letter from me stating clearly that I will take full responsibility as well as granting my consent for them to accompany me
14. Letter of identification from my bank ( have saving and current account with them)
15. 6 months bank statement - current and savings account (mine)
16. Letter from Stanbic IBTC pension that I hold a pension account with them
17 My pension account statement
18 3 landed proper including house plan
19 Letter of Explanation from me concerning some transactions in my account which were not part of my monthly pay
20. Offer of employment letter (me)
21. 8 months pay slip (me)
22. Letter of promotion (me) and yearly performance increment.
23. Letter of termination of employment
24. Letter from my office in Belgium SVP that the doors are open to me on completion of my studies
25. My travel history (USA, UK, African Countries, Norway, Sweden. Etc..) it was a big book cos of my constant travels..loooool
26. A budget plan for my family covering the 4yrs of my stay including return airfares for all of us.
27 Wife's professional certification

Above all, we just trusted God for it. My wife & daughter's visa was approved in Nairobi - Kenya and noticed that visa was even issued on August 23, 2018 prior to my travel. When I arrived Canada, I sent them a copy of my study permit (September 6, 2018) and Letter of enrolment- SOWP and TRV was already approved before I sent it; guess somebody forgot to send out the passport - only to see an email from VFS for the collection of their passport same day.

It is always good to check with them. My study was approved in less than 3weeks but I got it after 6weeks - when I wrote Nairobi, they replied same day that my case was finalized weeks back(same day, I got an email from VFS)...

For those waiting.. trust him and I am sure it will end in praise.

Wishing everyone waiting here for study visa divine speed. Please don't give up - stay positive, trust God; It will end in praise. If refused, do not give up and also keep your options open ( nor do God work) and if approved thank God for favour and do not forget your purpose (which is to study) and we should always rep our country anywhere we go both in our words , actions and deeds - it is our home.

that was so fast anyways, most times its very fast especially when the host or the student is going for PHD program, Its a good sign that eligibility review has started in less than a month, so you should be expecting a reply from them soon if your application is good. Wife SOWP was submitted Aug 1 via paper route with upfront medical. Medical passed yesterday and eligibility is being reviewed; is this a good sign that we will hear from cic soon.... anyone with experience on this?

Was having same problem but found a solution. Since it's an open work permit the sub category to select is 'international experience Canada ' if you choose this you should be able to link your application.

I received my study visa 2 weeks ago and due to resume in September. My wife and daughter applied for SOWP and trv last week (paper route) . Please do I link both account separately or just my wife to see both status? Appreciate your guidance . Also, how feasible is it being granted prior to leaving Nigeria - I have not arrived Canada yet but have got study visa approved for studies .

Thank you so much. Also, I just received my study visa and looking at applying for SOWP for my wife before departure to Canada - will this pose a problem in getting approved?

That field is optional. Simply leave both boxes (Canada/US and Other) 'unchecked' then leave that subsection blank. I hope that helps.

Check your Mycic account messages, you will find the correspondence letter! If there is none, you can email the lagos visa office: lagos.immigration@international.gc.ca and it will be updated in your account.

God has done it! Received my passport today via Courier with the visa on it. My profile still shows background check and eligibility processing..... PhD MUN.

However, I did not receive any other letter as noted on this site except my passport (paper route) .

Altogether , God is faithful...................

Did you do upfront medical? If yes, the outcome may be approval or refusal I.e 50-50 but If you did your medical on request then the possibility of receiving approval is 90% sure. Just keep your fingers crossed. It is well.

Greeting my people. Application in week 9 ; wrote the consulate on Monday and got a direct feedback from Nairobi yesterday that my application has been finalized and should be hearing from VFS in the coming days. (Paper Route, Medical Passed - June 16) but there is no update on my portal when I linked my application ( still: eligibility review as well as background check processing since June cool

. Any idea on what this could mean?
