Investment / The Nigerian Big Question: What Is The Way Forward? by agricignite: 5:22am On Sep 06, 2016
Owing to the recent economic melt down of our great country Nigeria, the big question is raised "What is the way forward?"

As at this morning 4:48 am, information from abokifx.com shows that $1 = N 415/425** (buy/sell). this is amazingly terrible. Nevertheless if we critically look into this matter you can see that the Naira is a strong currency despite the fall. With current situations I expected the Naira to have reached a N 500 to $1 point but it has remained standing. The essence of saying this is to let you know that, for those of you who are wealthy enough to make large investments, this is one of the best times to invest in the Agricultural sector of the Nigerian economy.

This is the way forward!

Please Nigerians, let us go back to our farmlands, especially those of us in the south-south region. We have a very good climate to grow amazing cash crops and improve export values which will raise the economy. Imagine the number of Nigerians abroad who hunger for our native meals but cannot get them where they are. Why do we not grow them here, package them to meet international food standards and export them to these regions with the support of the government.

Think Nigerians, Think! Especially those of you that have the resources to carry such things out.

I got here and had no network on my phone- theen I felt it. I knew that ok, this is real. I've come to study and understand the power and values behind agriculture. You can call me the new farmer.

This is where the farmers are, this is where agriculture is key, and then there's no light, there's no GSM, there's no phone there's no technology. These are the individual small-scale farmers that feed us.

Farmers are the foundation of the society. And if your foundation is not strong, no matter the mansion, it's going to collapse. I'm from Nigeria, and I've found out that 40% of our income is spent on food. Here in Ghana it's also such a large percentage and yet we are not awakened to know agriculture is the future.

Business / Diversifying African Economy by agricignite: 6:21pm On Aug 15, 2016
The creative industries in the US contribute over 11% of GDP , employing about 9% of the Tpopulation (over 30 million people). Include Mexico and Canada and it represents an average of 7% of GDP and creates work for about 41 million people across North America.

These are figures presented by Ojoma Ochai, assistant country director of the British Council in Nigeria, who provided her findings for the third annual African Creative Economy Conference which took place in Cape Town during October . She focused on Nollywood as an example of how creative industries can promote growth in Africa while providing employment opportunities and promoting talent. Ochai says the Nigerian movie industry generates about US$ 500m per year in revenue, making up 5% of the country's GDPand 11% of its non-oil exports. [Nigeria's GDP in 2012 was some $270 billion, meaning that, at $500 million, Nollywood represents 0.18% of GDP .

Food / Nutrient Value Of Snail by agricignite: 3:01pm On Aug 15, 2016
Popularly known as “Congo meat” among the people of the southern region of Nigeria, snails have quite an amazing nutritional value. These very slow creatures have about 12 – 16% of protein, 45-50mg/kg of iron and is really low in fat – for those of you who seek easy ways of maintaining their shape. They also contain most of the amino acids required by the human body. These beautiful creatures serve as an excellent replacement for the all adored chicken and beef.

THE BUSINESS IN HELLCULTURE (SNAIL FARMING)

For its very amazing feeding structure (they can stay without food and water for quite a long time), and less stressful care requirements, little space, and small capital requirements, snail farming, I can say is one of the best agribusiness ventures you can attempt this year. Beginning with a start-up quantity of 100 snails, of which when mature enough to lay (takes about 12 months) are capable of laying between 50-300 eggs at a time, can yield - See more at: http://agricignite.com/nutrient-value-of-snail/#sthash.6CplVLh4.dpuf

Agriculture / The Business Opportunities In Corn (maize) by agricignite: 11:46am On Aug 11, 2016
Nigeria produces a wide range of agricultural commodities which could serve as raw materials for industries and food crop for human consumption. The dual nature of these crops makes them high in demand and one of such crop is Maize. Why maize, you may ask? Maize is a cereal crop (grasses grown for consumption) that grows across a wide range of ecological zones in Nigeria. It is not seasonal and also highly adaptive. Nigeria is one of the leading countries in maize production in Africa and presently, the country produces less than the market demand- a perfect opportunity for you to get involved in this highly profitable venture.

It may interest you to know that there is no waste when it comes to maize. In-other-words, the entirety of maize is very
important and can be used for food and non-food products. Present day statistics has shown that sixty percent of Nigeria’s production of maize is consumed by the industrial sector for production of flour, beer, cornflakes, starch, animal feeds and so much more. These grains have a really exciting nutritional value. They arerich in vitamins - A, C and E, carbohydrates, essential minerals and nine percent protein and has a very rich fibre content which aids digestion in both man and animals.

Technology Market / Dark Side Of The Sun by agricignite: 10:14am On Aug 10, 2016
Human beings everywhere share a special relationship with the sun. However, as we crave the sun’s heat and light, this golden star can have a dangerous and deadly effect upon us. We must be aware that there is a dark side to the sun and learn how to protect ourselves from it.

Nigeria is located in the tropics and the tropics is famous for his intense sunlight. Farming is done during day usually under the intense and scorching tropical sun, but too often people tend to overlook the risks of the sun’s damaging rays on their eyes.

The sun’s primary danger is in the form of Ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation is a component of solar radiation, but it can also be given off by artificial sources like welding machines and lasers.

Many people may not realize that exposure to UV radiation can harm the eyes or that other components of solar radiation can also affect vision. There are three types of UV radiation: UV-C is absorbed by the ozone layer and does not present any threat; UV-A and UV-B radiation can have adverse long- and short-term effects on the eyes and vision.

Agriculture / Turn Waste To High Valued Organic Manure by agricignite: 6:26pm On Aug 09, 2016
Most of our household wastes, especially the kitchen wastes, put in trash is organic matter which if composted, can produce a rich top soil for our plants. This, of course, is only possible when we separate our dry wastes from wet wastes. The dry waste include materials such as paper, nylon bags and satchets while the wet waste includes vegetables, fruit peels and generally, food scraps. The precious wet waste- which can become black gold- remain unusable in our landfills. Composting is the best way to handle food waste.

Composting is the process of breaking down organic matter (food waste) in the presence of air and water, harnessing the important roles of micro-organisms and insects found in nature. Micro-organisms require certain conditions to be met before compost is formed; carbon that comes from dried dead leaves, nitrogen that comes from fruits and vegetables, oxygen which comes from air. This invariably means that in making organic manure from food waste, dead leaves, fruit peels or leftover from fruits, vegetables and water, should be made available.

Agriculture / Get A Tractor And Save The Stress by agricignite: 9:05am On Jul 26, 2016
Farming is a very beautiful thing. From the preparation of the soil, to the planting and harvesting periods; these all constitute a very interesting line up of activities. Though very interesting, it can be very tedious and back breaking. However advancement in technology have brought about a beautiful edifice known as a multi-purpose tractor. Yes, for many people, getting a tractor for your farm labour involves a lot of money. But if you take the time to count the cost, weigh the pros and cons and then balance all cheques, you will realize that being a part of the very few that utilize the power of a tractor, is one of the best decisions you will be making this year. Allow me walk you through the very details of the use of a tractor for your farm labour.

There are three categories of tractors; these include, small-sized, intermediate-sized and large-sized tractors. Although the category choice depends mostly on the land size and production size of a farm, the intermediatesized tractors are the most economical to acquire. This is because one intermediatesized tractor can handle numerous farming operations just by attaching the appropriate equipment to the tractor. It is said that this tractor category is a compromise between the small and intermediate sized categories. For the small to large scale farms a single, well operated and maintained tractor will serve its purpose for a good number of years.

Different fruit of importance in winemaking include plantain, banana, oranges, guava, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, passion fruit, watermelon, pawpaw, jackfruit, cashew, and so on. “I have been within the four walls of school and I have been on the street. I can confidently tell you that the street is tougher , challenging, daring, exciting and more rewarding. In school; you play alone. But on the street, you play with the big boys.” – Ajaero T ony Martins

The best way an entrepreneur can learn how to grow a business and build a successful business is to start a small business. Y ou can't learn to build a business by sitting within the four walls of a building; you learn how to build a business by doing it. Do you want to become a successful entrepreneur? Then start a business even if it is a small one.

Y our own business is the best business school you will ever attend because you will learn from your own real life experience, where every business mistake leaves a scar on you. The day I dropped out of college to start a business was the day I signed up at the business school for entrepreneurs; and despite how painful the process was, I have not regretted it.

2. Business Mentorship
Most successful entrepreneurs usually attend this business school unconsciously; while others attend it on purpose. I was born into a family of entrepreneurs and unconsciously; I became an entrepreneur . It wasn't an overnight process; it was a gradual process that I didn't even take notice of.

Am i the only student of this business school? My answer is no. Donald Trump, Warren Buffett, J. Paul Getty , Ingvar Kamprad, Henry Ford, Rachael Ray , Carl Linder and Cornelius V anderbilt all a t t e nde d t hi s f ami l y bus i ne s s s c hool f or entrepreneurs.

a. Ethanol (also known as “Ogogoro”, “Kai-Kai” “Akpeteshi”, “Baba Disu”, “Number 1”, “Push me I push you”, etc..)
Industrial alcohol is an important raw material in many manufacturing industries. It is largely imported into Nigeria owing to its high demand by industries such as pharmaceuticals, distilleries, laboratories, hospitals, cosmetics, and beverage. Its application therefore cut across a wide range of industries. Ethanol from cassava can complement crude oil as a major source of foreign exchange. For example, In Brazil, you seldom see smoke from vehicle exhaust pipes, because they use ethanol produced from cassava as a source of fuel to run automobiles. They have cars that run 100% on cassava ethanol. It is noteworthy that ethanol can be generated, even from cassava peel which constitute about 26% of cassava when peeled manually and 38-55% when peeled mechanically.
