Hi everyone!

Ok so while waiting for our visas or admission letters as the case may be.
Let's maximise this period of waiting.
There are many options especially if you're not working or if you are on a job that is not demanding. I have some suggestions:
1) Learn french. Yes you heard me right. I know you might not be going to Quebec but the world is so much on languages now. I know most of us have some basic grasp of french. Thanks to our yeye secondary school french classes . Leverage on that and build on it. I believe ultimately, we are going somewhere and our future masters, diplomas and doctorates are means to an end , not just an end. Plus, you never can know what door that extra language skill will open for you.

2) Start practising the IELTS. Trust me you'll need it. Even if you've taken the TOEFL. You'll still need it. It's logical to try to apply for PR when we get to Canada so...go figure!

3) For the academia inclined ones. Work on getting published. Go back to your thesis and try to make manuscript from it..., also try to get collaboration with you future supervisors ( trust me they have unpublished works of previous students). You can offer to be the editor and get your name in that paper. It will be stressful but ultimately rewarding. Remember the academic slogan publish or perish! Don't wait till the end of your program. Make publishing a priority.
My desire is that African youths also take over everywhere like the Asians and maybe the Jews

Nice post. Please, i have a published paper in an international journal and two works in progress... Do i need to include a copy (10 pages) of this paper in my TRV application or should i just cite it?
Am going for thesis based MSc.

Paper route would be advised given to the same processing location whether online or paper route
which is presently Kenya. Why go through all the stress for online??

BTW my opinion but the preference is yours!

But i was thinking the online route would be less stressful. Being an online thing which doesn't really require physical transmission of documents. Please confusion is setting in again o !!!

Hi,

I don't know if this would work tho. One of my applications was w/out proof of financial support, even though I included my funding letter, i was still denied. I'm not trying to discourage or scare him, but I'll advise you to tell him to have at least 1m in his personal account if he won't be including a sponsor. And in his SOP/LOE he should properly explain that the scholarship will be more than enough to cover the 2 years of his study.

My two cents.

Based on your advice and that of GboyegaD, I have resolved to either getting a sponsor with minimum of 5M in his account, or having minimum of 1M in my own account.

I do not think you need a sponsor. My roommate came in last session on full funding without any additional sponsor except for personal savings. I never attached any additional sponsor during my time either. That is the reason I suggest you use online as it doesn't complicate things. Your own personal savings to cover the cost of flights coupled with your funding letter (provided it covers tuition + $10k cost of living) is sufficient.

Yes it does cover my tuition ($6536) + the $10k. Thanks so much. I will take note.

Get the most recent version of adobe reader, Foxit reader should do the trick. Download the forms even if they don’t open while you’re on the site. Go back to your desktop and open with the latest version of adobe reader you downloaded. This should resolve that issue.

when did you apply and when did you get your admission letter and Offer of scholarship?

Someone who applied for same Sept 2019 hasn't received admission decision he was told it will be March Ending.

I applied Nov end, 2018 and i got admission letter and Scholarship offer, February End, 2019. I think it depends on the Program and maybe the College you have applied to. In addition, many factors are involved. Your CGPA, getting a Supervisor, and need for funding.

But seriously, everything takes the Grace of God.

Congratulations on your crowning achievement (admission with funding). Please be properly guided that all the necessary lay down procedures and relevant informations with respect to how you can package a good application is available free of charge on this window. As a consequence, You don't need the assistance of any third party (agent) before you can secure a TRV for yourself. More importantly, I would further suggest that you get a sponsor regardless of the funding which you've already obtained from your proposed university in Canada. The sponsor should be responsible for your flight itinerary and other miscellaneous expenses that might arise during the course of your studies in Canada. A sponsor's bank of statement of 5M and above would be adequate enough for your study permit application. Feel free to always reach out here should you require further guidance on what path to take.

I NEED HELP ON TRV APPLICATION

I have my letter of offer, admission letter and Full funding Award ($23,400 per year for minimum of two years) for a Research Masters Program at University of Sask. I have no travel history and no sponsor on sight. I thought TRV is something i could do on my own just like i found supervisor and got admitted on my own (All Glory to God). However, navigating the www.cic.gc.ca site with the failed effort of downloading necessary IMM forms, and other confusing procedures, it doesn't seem like something one can attempt on his own. Also, I have studied the thread word for word, still confused about the practical procedures.

Please i need help on complete and successful TRV application as I am self-hustling die-hard scholar and researcher not rich enough to afford agent fees because i am currently a serving Corps member. My program begins September, 2019 (Fall term) and i don't have a clue up till now. Please help me out as this is my life, a golden opportunity i may not forgive my self for if i miss. This is a dream i have nursed for years.

10) TOEFL report (I did this when I was applying to the US. It isn't required, I just added it for show off)

12) A page from Vanguard newspaper, showing that diploma programs were cancelled for universities by the National University Commission in October 2016.
13) My personal bank account statement showing inflow of money for the few months I have worked independently (100k+).

1) Letter of sponsorship and declaration of sponsorship, stating the money in one of my dad's account is set apart for the first year of my tuition and living expenses.
2) Data page of my dad's international passport
3) My dad's statement of Account showing he has over
15 million Naira set aside fir tuition and living expenses for the first year.
4) Letter of reference from my dad's employer. This is attached with his salary account’s statement showing the inflow of his salary every month end.
5)My dad's work complementary card
6) Receipt of 500 CAD tuition deposit, required by the university.
7) Declaration of asset, stating some of my dad's assets.
Affidavit of ownership of one of his landed properties
9) Affidavit as to sold land (This is to justify a huge lump in my dad's account statement)
10) My dad's business registration document.
11) Deed of conveyance, agreement papers and receipts of some of my dad's landed properties.
12) Survey plan of one of my dad's landed properties.
13) Government approved building plans of some of my dad's landed properties.

I was a student of one of the Nigerian universities doing a diploma program. Almost two years into the program, the NUC scrapped diploma programs for universities. I was broken! So I decided to study abroad.

I applied for a visa to study in the US five times within a period of one year!
I couldn't get past the interviews cos I couldn't explain myself to the VO (kind of an introvert).
So I decided to try Canada once and if I didn't get the visa, I would give up any hope left of studying abroad. Fortunately my first application has just been approved.

I have never crossed Nigerian borders. That is, I have no travel history.

Observation:
I'm not a guru, but from my observation spending a lot of time on the US student visa thread and this Canada student visa thread;
The VOs know there is a 70% chance of we not returning to Nigeria after graduation, but they can't deny all applications based on this fact. So they want someone who shows potential of adding something positive to Canada, incase the person doesn't return to his/her country.
They key is just "self-hype". In my SOP, the way I hyped myself, you'ld think I thought Zuckerberg how to code.
(Hype yourself with sense sha)

Note: The above doesn't mean you should neglect saying you will come back to Nigeria. In my SOP, I stated some career opportunities for computer science graduates in Nigeria.

I fasted and prayed too. God did his part and I did mine. Thanks to God.
