Zelensky seems to be refusing to accept the reality that this charade is over. With President Trump, he won’t get a cent. He’d better get on board with negotiations. Europe can’t even save itself because, without the U.S.A, it’s nothing. It’s over!

Ukraine faces increasing pressure as Western support dwindles. With shifting political dynamics in the U.S. and Europe, negotiations becomes the only viable path forward

Foreign AffairsDonald Trump Says Zelensky 'dictator' Without Elections by AImiron(op): 5:52pm On Feb 19, 2025
In a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator" due to the lack of elections in the war-torn country.

In a Truth Social post on Wednesday morning, President Donald Trump called Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky a "dictator" due to the lack of elections in the war-torn country.

Zelensky was elected as Ukraine's president in 2019. Ukraine's next presidential election was originally set for 2024, but it was not conducted due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, which began on February 24, 2022. The imposition of martial law, which legally prohibits elections, has prevented the vote from taking place.

Trump posted Wednesday, "Think of it, a modestly successful comedian, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, talked the United States of America into spending $350 Billion Dollars, to go into a War that couldn't be won, that never had to start, but a War that he, without the U.S. and "TRUMP," will never be able to settle. The United States has spent $200 Billion Dollars more than Europe, and Europe's money is guaranteed, while the United States will get nothing back. Why didn't Sleepy Joe Biden demand Equalization, in that this War is far more important to Europe than it is to us — We have a big, beautiful Ocean as separation. On top of this, Zelenskyy admits that half of the money we sent him is "MISSING." He refuses to have Elections, is very low in Ukrainian Polls, and the only thing he was good at was playing Biden "like a fiddle." A Dictator without Elections, Zelenskyy better move fast or he is not going to have a Country left. In the meantime, we are successfully negotiating an end to the War with Russia, something all admit only "TRUMP," and the Trump Administration, can do. Biden never tried, Europe has failed to bring Peace, and Zelenskyy probably wants to keep the "gravy train" going. I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered, and MILLIONS have unnecessarily died – And so it continues...

Foreign AffairsNFL 'regrets' Super Bowl Halftime Choice After Kendrick Lamar Backlash by AImiron(op): 7:16pm On Feb 17, 2025
The NFL regrets picking Kendrick Lamar over Lil Wayne for this year's Super Bowl halftime show in New Orleans, a league employee has reportedly admitted.

Kendrick's performance at Caesars Superdome sparked controversy last weekend, with some fans branding it 'the worst Super Bowl halftime show ever' during the Philadelphia Eagles' 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs

To add to the controversy, the 'Not Like Us' rapper was chosen for the gig ahead of New Orleans native Lil Wayne, who reportedly received a letter of apology from the NFL when the choice was announced last year.

Sports commentator Skip Bayless said the league 'immediately' got in touch with Lil Wayne to apologize over the snub, while revealing that his good friend was devastated to have been overlooked in his home city.

Bayless said on his YouTube show: 'The NFL immediately sent Wayne a letter of apology. From nobody in particular, just from the league on NFL letterhead.

'A letter that thanked him for his years of supporting the league, not just the Packers, his favorite team, but supporting and promoting the NFL, in general, which he has.

A mistake was made and we regret the choice that was made,' an NFL employee is quoted as saying.

'Lil Wayne should have been the first option, as he is from New Orleans and we know that there was a clear motivation for him and his side to do a unique show in his town.'

NFL chiefs are now keen for future halftime choices to have a closer connection to either the place, city or state where the Super Bowl is held.

Lil Wayne, who was born and raised in New Orleans, was said to have taken the snub badly after not being picked for the show in his beloved city.

'Lil Wayne was the obvious choice, and the choice made wasn't the best one at all,' the insider added.

Another NFL employee was quoted as saying that the decision to have Kendrick perform at halftime was the 'wrong one' while vowing to not make the same mistake again going forward.

Ahead of Super Bowl LIX, Bayless revealed that Lil Wayne was struggling to deal with being snubbed for the halftime show after the NFL chose Kendrick to headline in the Big Easy.

Foreign AffairsZelensky Warns The Days Of America’s Guaranteed Support For Europe Are Over by AImiron(op): 4:04pm On Feb 15, 2025
(CNN)-- Ukraine’s president has warned the days of guaranteed US support for Europe are over, as he urged the continent to band together to create a united army and foreign policy.

Volodymyr Zelensky spoke in a week when a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US counterpart Donald Trump raised fears in Kyiv that it was being frozen out of negotiations, with the White House also downplaying the prospects of Ukraine joining NATO.

“A few days ago, President Trump told me about his conversation with Putin. Not once did he mention that America needs Europe at that table. That says a lot,” Zelensky said in a robust speech at the Munich Security Conference on Saturday.

“The old days are over – when America supported Europe just because it always had,” he added.

Speaking to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on stage at the security conference, Zelensky conceded that he was “not happy” that Trump’s first call was with Putin. The Ukrainian leader warned that it would be even “more dangerous” however if Trump meets with the Russian president before him.

Trump hasn’t provided any commitment to meeting Zelensky first, the Ukrainian president told CNN. The US president did however understand the need to “meet urgently” to discuss “concrete plans” to end the war, Zelensky added.

He spoke the day after US Vice President JD Vance eviscerated America’s European allies at the security conference, in a speech that barely touched on the issue of Ukraine and a potential settlement of Russia.

“Yesterday here in Munich, the US vice president made it clear – decades of the old relationship between Europe and America are ending. From now on, things will be different, and Europe needs to adjust to that,” Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president called for a united European army, as he acknowledged that the United States may not continue to provide military support as it once did.

“Let’s be honest – now we can’t rule out the possibility that America might say ‘No’ to Europe on issues that threaten it. Many leaders have talked about Europe that needs its own military – an Army of Europe,” he said.

Later in his speech, Zelensky accused Putin of aiming to “carve up the world” through one-on-one talks with Trump.

“Next Putin will try to get the US president standing on Red Square on May 9 this year, not as a respected leader, but as a prop in his own performance, we don’t need that,” he said.

in an exchange which prompted laughter from the crowd, Zelensky also admitted to having told Trump that Putin is afraid of him.

“I told Trump that Putin is afraid of him and he heard me. And now Putin knows,” Zelensky said wryly.

The Ukrainian president added that Putin appears to be the biggest influence on NATO and reiterated that peace talks on ending the conflict could not go ahead without Kyiv’s involvement.

“Right now, the most influential member of NATO seems to be Putin – because his whims have the power to block NATO decisions,” Zelensky said.

“Ukraine will never accept deals made behind our backs without our involvement. And the same rule should apply to all of Europe,” he added.

“No decisions about Ukraine without Ukraine. No decisions about Europe without Europe. Europe must have a seat at the table when decisions about Europe are being made,” Zelensky continued.

Following Zelensky’s speech, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Europe “urgently needs a plan of action” concerning Ukraine, or risk other global players deciding its future.

“This plan must be prepared now. There’s no time to lose,” Tusk said in a post on X.

"We have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskiy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now," Trump said in a post on his social media platform.

Foreign AffairsUSA Rules Out NATO Membership For Ukraine And Says Europe Must Be Responsible by AImiron(op): 5:44pm On Feb 12, 2025
US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth said on Wednesday that the war between Ukraine and Russia “must end,” that Kyiv joining NATO is unrealistic and that the US will no longer prioritize European and Ukrainian security as the Trump administration shifts its attention to securing the US’ own borders and deterring war with China.

In remarks before a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, Hegseth also said that European troops should be the primary force securing a post-war Ukraine—something US troops will not be involved in, he added.

The United States does not believe that NATO membership for Ukraine is a realistic outcome of a negotiated settlement,” Hegseth said. And he added that any security guarantees offered to Ukraine “must be backed by capable European and non-European troops.”

To be clear, as part of any security guarantee, there will not be US troops deployed to Ukraine,” he said

Hegseth also said that a return to Ukraine’s pre-2014 borders, before Russia invaded Crimea and eastern Ukraine, “is an unrealistic objective.”

Many NATO allies would actually agree with Hegseth that getting Crimea back from Russia is not realistic, and not even Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has insisted on that as a precursor to peace talks. One NATO official said it would have been more concerning if Hegseth had said that returning to Ukraine’s pre-2022 borders was unrealistic.

But the comments about security guarantees are sure to concern Zelensky, who said this week that Europe alone cannot provide meaningful security guarantees to Ukraine without American leadership. Zelensky has also continued to insist that his country joining NATO is the only way to deter Russia from launching new attacks in the future.

Hegseth also did not announce any new US aid to Ukraine. “We’re also here today to directly and unambiguously express that stark strategic realities prevent the United States of America from being primarily focused on the security of Europe,” he said.

Hegseth’s comments did not necessarily come as a surprise to the US’ allies. NATO and the European Union had been bracing for the US to step back significantly from the leading role it had been playing since 2022 in providing and coordinating military aid to Ukraine. That is why NATO set up its own security mechanism to help coordinate military assistance to the country

Foreign AffairsTrump’s Recent Actions Show His Revenge Tour Isn’t Slowing Down by AImiron(op): 2:57pm On Feb 09, 2025
West Palm Beach, Florida CNN — Nearly three weeks into Donald Trump’s second term in office, the president is continuing to dramatically reimagine and expand his use of executive authority — and to use that authority to carry out retribution against his perceived political enemies.

The president spent his first days in office pushing the levers of government — and his unique powers as commander in chief — to target his perceived enemies both inside and outside the government. But it didn’t stop there. His actions in recent days — including revoking former President Joe Biden’s security clearance, announcing plans to gut the Kennedy Center board, and dismissing the national archivist — have only expanded on those themes.

Trump’s actions over the past few days underscore a president who remains intent on settling scores new and old — and his implicit confidence in his administration’s ability to fight and win subsequent legal challenges.

Trump claimed during a January 2024 Fox News town hall that he would not “have time for retribution” because he would be too busy making the country successful, but revenge was still a common theme during his campaign for reelection.

Over the summer months, it became clear that Trump and his top allies were bracing for an opportunity to exact revenge, escalating calls for retribution after a Manhattan jury convicted the former president on 34 felony counts in a hush-money trial. Trump repeatedly suggested that his perceived enemies should be jailed, from the prosecutors in the Biden administration Justice Department who indicted him to members of the House select committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol.

Emboldened by a sweeping November victory, the president is now using his mandate to air grievances and retaliate — and installing loyalists in key agencies such as the Department of Justice and the FBI.

Retribution agenda continues
These efforts began in earnest during the first week of Trump’s second term as he pulled security details for top officials from his first term; reassigned and dismissed career DOJ officials; issued executive orders weakening protections for federal workers; and directed his Justice Department and Office of the Director of National Intelligence to open broad investigations into Biden administration “weaponization” of law enforcement and intelligence agencies.

The president also issued an order pardoning more than 1,000 people charged in the Capitol attack, and his Justice Department fired officials who worked on the federal criminal investigations into Trump.

While the initial fast and furious pace of his Week 1 actions has slowed somewhat, a new batch of actions over recent days has only intensified Trump’s grievance tour.

Trump announced Friday that he was removing Biden’s access to classified information by revoking his security clearance and stopping his daily intelligence briefings, a move that Biden took against Trump after January 6. In the social media post announcing the move, Trump recalled a tagline from his reality television era, saying, “Joe, you’re fired.”

In an interview with the New York Post published Saturday, the president said he intended to target other political rivals with the same measures, restricting New York Attorney General Letitia James and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a symbolic move that Trump warned would “take away every right they have.”

Trump initiated a number of dismissals Friday night that also appeared to focus on revenge.

He announced aggressive plans to gut the board of trustees of the Kennedy Center, removing multiple members who he said “do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” as well as ousting its chairman, the billionaire philanthropist David Rubenstein, an ally of Biden.

And the administration announced it had dismissed the archivist of the United States, Colleen Shogan, at Trump’s direction. While Trump had said he wanted to replace the archivist, it still amounted to a shocking move targeting Shogan, who had largely been loyal to Trump.

The role of the National Archives took on new prominence in recent years, coming under scrutiny from Republicans in the wake of the search of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort as part of an investigation into his handling of classified documents. Shogan, who has enjoyed a personal relationship with first lady Melania Trump, was not at the National Archives when FBI agents searched Trump’s home in 2022.

Trump stripped more former officials of their security details, even those who are facing credible threats. Last week, Trump revoked the security detail assigned to his former Defense Secretary Mark Esper, adding to the growing list of officials who have faced retribution from their onetime boss. Esper is one of several top aides who continued to have security after leaving office because of threats from Iran for actions they took while serving in Trump’s administration. Gen. Mark Milley, former national security adviser John Bolton and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have all had their details pulled in the first few weeks since Trump took office.

Also last week, the FBI provided the Justice Department with names of employees who worked on January 6-related cases after a demand from the acting deputy attorney general, capping a weeklong back-and-forth between bureau leadership and the department. Acting Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove said the information was not gathered to retaliate against agents, but FBI employees feared it was meant to amass a list of personnel for possible termination by the Trump administration.

DOGE takes center stage
Many of the recent actions have been expedited and executed by the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, headed by tech billionaire Elon Musk.

DOGE has moved quickly to dismantle the US Agency for International Development. Trump issued a Day 1 executive order freezing most foreign aid, and many of USAID’s programs were subject to stop orders in the weeks that followed. The agency’s acting leadership announced all direct hires would be placed on leave just before midnight on Friday, gutting the 10,000-person workforce to about 300 essential personnel. But a federal judge issued an order temporarily blocking more than 2,000 USAID officials from being placed on administrative leave. Still, the agency, which Trump has said is run by “radical lunatics,” faces much uncertainty.

A similar effort appeared to be taking effect this weekend at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, or CFPB, where Trump loyalist Russell Vought took over as acting director on Friday night. The bureau has long been a target of conservatives.

“CFPB RIP,” Musk said in a social media post, adding a tombstone emoji.

DOGE is also moving to cancel a $168,000 contract through the Department of Health and Human Services to build a museum exhibit honoring Dr. Anthony Fauci, a frequent target of Trump’s ire. Fauci, the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, confirmed the cancellation of the project, which would have been housed at the National Institutes of Health. News of the cancellation was first reported by SAN.

Foreign Affairs"He’s Got Enough Problems With His Wife" - Trump On Deporting Prince Harry by AImiron(op): 4:35pm On Feb 08, 2025
Prince Harry can breathe freely in Montecito, because President Donald Trump has ruled out deporting the self-exiled British royal.

Harry’s immigration status is the subject of litigation in Washington DC, with the Heritage Foundation alleging that he may have concealed past illegal drug use that should have disqualified him from obtaining a US visa.

But the president told The New York Post Friday that he isn’t interested in throwing Harry out of the country.

I don’t want to do that,” he said. “I’ll leave him alone. He’s got enough problems with his wife. She’s terrible.”

Trump took the opportunity to praise Harry’s estranged older brother William, with whom he met privately in Paris in December during the reopening ceremony of Notre-Dame Cathedral.

“I think William is a great young man,” he said.

The Duke of Sussex and his liberal American wife Meghan Markle have voiced disapproval of Trump over the years, including one outburst in which the Duchess called the president “divisive” and “misogynistic”.

Trump in turn has described Harry as “whipped” by Markle. “I think poor Harry is being led around by the nose.”

Heritage cited Harry’s autobiography “Spare” — in which he admitted to using cocaine, cannabis and psychedelics — when it sued the Department of Homeland Security last year to force the release of his US visa records.

Anyone who applies to the United States has to be truthful on their application, and it is not clear that is the case with Prince Harry,” Heritage’s Nile Gardiner told the London Daily Telegraph.

The conservative think tank suggests Harry was given preferential treatment by the Biden administration after he and Meghan moved to California in 2020 following their acrimonious “Megxit” split from the royal family.

Foreign Affairs'Treated Like Criminals’: Shackling Of Indians Aboard 40-hour Migrant Flight by AImiron(op): 2:15pm On Feb 07, 2025
New Delhi, CNN — US officials kept around 100 deported Indian migrants in shackles for their 40-hour flight home, including during bathroom breaks, in the latest incident to spark anger overseas at President Donald Trump’s migration crackdown.

Indian lawmakers demonstrated outside parliament on Thursday, some wearing shackles and others mocking the much-touted friendship between Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Elsewhere in New Delhi, members of the youth wing of India’s main opposition party burned an effigy of Trump.

Last month, the spectacle of Colombian deportees being shackled as they boarded a US deportation flight sparked a bitter dispute between the two countries, with Colombian president Gustavo Petro initially refusing the military plane permission to land.

The anger in India comes days ahead of an expected visit by Modi to meet Trump – whom he has called a “true friend” – at the White House.

S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, a government minister in the western state of Punjab, where the deportation flight landed, urged Modi to “now use his friendship to resolve the issue.”

Dhaliwal also questioned “the usefulness of this friendship if it cannot help Indian citizens in need,” his office said in a statement.

The flight to India was the longest in distance since the Trump administration began deploying military aircraft for migrant deportations, according to a US official.

“Our hands were cuffed and ankles tied with chains before we took the flight,” said 23-year-old Akashdeep Singh, who arrived in Punjab on Wednesday with 103 other deportees.

“We requested the military officials to take it off to eat or go to the bathroom but they treated us horribly and without any regard whatsoever,” Singh added.

“The way they looked at us, I’ll never forget it… We went to the bathroom with the shackles on. Right before landing, they removed (the shackles) for the women. We saw it. For us, they were removed after we landed by the local police officials.”

US Border Patrol Chief Michael W. Banks posted a video of the Indian deportees being put onto a plane on X. In the video, shackles are seen on the wrists and ankles of several men who shuffle slowly up the ramp.

CNN has reached out to the Pentagon and US Customs and Border Protection for comment on whether the deportees were held in shackles for the duration of the flight.

‘Better life, better future’
Deportee Sukhpal Singh, 35, also said the shackles were kept on throughout the flight, including during a refueling stopover on the Pacific island of Guam.

“They treated us like criminals,” he said. “If we would try to stand because our legs were swelling due to the handcuffs they would yell at us to sit down.”

Young Indians looking for work opportunities have made up a sizeable portion of undocumented migrants in the US, many after making the dangerous trek through Latin America to reach the US southern border.

Many say they see no future at home where a jobs crisis is stifling young hopes in the world’s most populous country.

In just four years, the number of Indian citizens entering the US illegally has surged dramatically — from 8,027 in the 2018-19 fiscal year to 96,917 during 2022-23, government data showed.

Families have previously told CNN how they sold off land to raise the tens of thousands of dollars charged by “travel agents” to take migrants on the risky journey to the US.

“I had gone for work, for better life, for a better future,” said Sukhpal Singh, who has a son and daughter and hoped to better provide for them by getting a job in the US.

“You see it in movies and you hear from people around you that there’s work there and people are successful there so that’s why I also wanted to go.”

Foreign AffairsElon Musk Dunks On Top Democrat Over 'hysterical Reactions' To DOGE by AImiron(op): 7:31pm On Feb 04, 2025
Elon Musk, who President Donald Trump tasked with spearheading the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) effort, declared in a social media post that "Hysterical reactions" demonstrate the importance of DOGE's work.

He made the comment in response to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y.

"An unelected shadow government is conducting a hostile takeover of the federal government," a post on Sen. Schumer's @SenSchumer X account reads, echoing remarks the lawmaker made during a press conference.

"DOGE is not a real government agency. DOGE has no authority to make spending decisions. DOGE has no authority to shut programs down or to ignore federal law. DOGE’s conduct cannot be allowed to stand. Congress must take action to restore the rule of law," Schumer's post continued.

Musk described the effort to slash government waste and bureaucracy as a one-time opportunity.

"Hysterical reactions like this is how you know that @DOGE is doing work that really matters," he wrote in response to Schumer.

"This is the one shot the American people have to defeat BUREAUcracy, rule of the bureaucrats, and restore DEMOcracy, rule of the people. We’re never going to get another chance like this. It’s now or never. Your support is crucial to the success of the revolution of the people," he asserted.

"If the Treasury Secretary does not remove DOGE’s access to the Treasury payment systems at once: Congress must immediately act," another post echoing the sentiments Schumer conveyed during the press conference reads. "That is why @RepJeffries and I will work together on legislation to stop unlawful meddling in the Treasury Department’s payment systems. We must protect people’s Social Security payments, Medicare payments, and tax refunds from any possible tampering by DOGE or other unauthorized entities."

Musk declared in a post, "Doge has not looked at, nor is there any interest in, private financial data. What would we even do with it? The outgoing payment review process just looks at potential fraud and wasteful spending to organizations. Corrupt politicians are the ones complaining. I wonder why?"
