Huh! Both presidents got what they wanted. Protecting their citizens and territory. This is a normal thing, don't think the usa can just bully any country anyhow. The Mexican have responded by deploying soldiers to the border for proper working💯
The bottom line is that she wouldn't have sent 10K troops to the border if tariffs weren't on the table. They thought Trump was bluffing, she was about to FAFO, but she eventually folded.

It's flat-out frustrating that these folks know what's right, but instead they stir up unnecessary drama and controversy before taking action.

If tariffs weren't on the table, they'd still be dragging their feet. How about step up and do the right thing without needing a push.
They are doing it for the cameras. He's going to talk to Trudeau today at 3 PM. The Panama leader has already folded. The EU should brace for impact tariffs are coming their way soon.

Foreign AffairsRe: Mexico Agrees To Deploy 10,000 Troops To US Border In Exchange For Tariff Pause by AImiron(op):
I just laugh whenever I read ignorant comments from wannabe liberals and CNN-watching wannksters. The people who truly understand the impact of the tariffs are already calling to make a deal. Trump is the greatest dealmaker.

Tariffs are like a cautionary tool; a common-sense strategy that forces your opponent to bend the knee or kiss the ring. When you know your value, you brag differently.

Most of you haven't even eaten today but claim to know America better than its own president and his team. Y'all really think he just woke up and imposed sanctions? The plans and counterplans have been in place for years.

World leaders are slowly realizing that Biden is no longer in power America was practically leaderless for four years. Now that Don is back, when he speaks, the whole world shakes, and markets crash.

Y'all are quick to forget that he's on his last term there’s no holding back. You don’t want to mess with a man on a mission. He’s simply fulfilling his campaign promises. Y’all leftist loonatics just started crying you’ll cry even more.

Foreign AffairsMexico Agrees To Deploy 10,000 Troops To US Border In Exchange For Tariff Pause by AImiron(op): 7:42pm On Feb 03, 2025
Mexico has agreed to deploy 10,000 troops to the U.S.-Mexico border in exchange for a one-month delay on President Donald Trump's threatened tariffs, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Monday.

Sheinbaum made the announcement on social media Monday morning, roughly 12 hours before the tariffs were set to take effect. Trump and Sheinbaum spoke on Monday and agreed that Mexico will do more to combat drug trafficking into the U.S., and that the U.S. will step up efforts to block the flow of firearms into Mexico.

Sheinbaum also said officials with the U.S. and Mexico were beginning talks on wider trade and security issues.

Trump confirmed the deal in his own post on Truth Social, describing the call with Sheinbaum as a "very friendly conversation."

"I just spoke with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico. It was a very friendly conversation wherein she agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican Soldiers on the Border separating Mexico and the United States. These soldiers will be specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl, and illegal migrants into our Country," Trump wrote

"We further agreed to immediately pause the anticipated tariffs for a one month period during which we will have negotiations headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and high-level Representatives of Mexico. I look forward to participating in those negotiations, with President Sheinbaum, as we attempt to achieve a 'deal' between our two Countries," he added.

The deal comes just days after Trump announced 25% tariffs on both Mexico and Canada, as well as 10% tariffs on China. Trump says he spoke with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Monday, but the pair did not reach an agreement. He says they will speak again later Monday.

The tariffs are set to take effect at midnight on Tuesday.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau slighted the U.S. by encouraging Canadians to "buy Canada" in response to the tariffs.

Foreign AffairsTrump Says He Ordered Airstrikes On ISIS Leaders In Somalia by AImiron(op): 8:29pm On Feb 01, 2025
President Donald Trump said on Saturday that he ordered military airstrikes in Somalia, taking out a senior ISIS attack planner and other terrorists the planner had recruited.

The strikes come just weeks after an ISIS-inspired terrorist killed 14 people and injured dozens more after he plowed a truck into New Year's Eve revelers in New Orleans.

"These killers, who we found hiding in caves, threatened the United States and our Allies," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Trump said that the strikes destroyed the caves the terrorists were living in and did not "in any way" harm civilians.

Our Military has targeted this ISIS attack planner for years, but Biden and his cronies wouldn’t act quickly enough to get the job done. I did!" Trump wrote.

"The message to ISIS and all others who would attack Americans is that ‘WE WILL FIND YOU, AND WE WILL KILL YOU!’" Trump wrote.

It is unclear how many people in total were killed.

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth provided further details on the strikes, saying they were carried out by U.S. Africa Command in coordination with the Somali government.

"I authorized U.S. Africa Command to conduct coordinated airstrikes today targeting ISIS-Somalia operatives in the Golis mountains," Hegseth said in a statement.

Hegseth said the strikes "send a clear signal" that the U.S. always stands ready to find and eliminate terrorists who threaten the country and its allies even as it carries out robust border protections at home.

An official in the Somali president's office, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the strikes to Reuters and said Somalia's government welcomed the move.

"Somalia cannot be a safe haven for terrorists," said the official, adding that the impact of the strikes was still being assessed.

Former USDA IG Phyllis Fong told government officials that that she didn’t recognize President Trump’s authority to fire her. She then refused to leave her office. Federal security agents were forced to physically remove her proving her firing was justified.

Foreign AffairsUSDA Inspector General Escorted Out Of Her Office After Defying White House by AImiron(op): 11:24pm On Jan 29, 2025
Security agents escorted the inspector general of the U.S. Department of Agriculture out of her office on Monday after she refused to comply with her firing by the Trump administration, sources familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Phyllis Fong, a 22-year veteran of the department, had earlier told colleagues that she intended to stay after the White House terminated her Friday, saying that she didn’t believe the administration had followed proper protocols, the sources said

In an email to colleagues on Saturday, reviewed by Reuters, she said the independent Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency “has taken the position that these termination notices do not comply with the requirements set out in law and therefore are not effective at this time.”
Fong declined to comment.

The White House defended the firing of Fong and the other inspectors general, saying "these rogue, partisan bureaucrats... have been relieved of their duties in order to make room for qualified individuals who will uphold the rule of law and protect Democracy."

The USDA inspector general has a broad mandate, pursuing consumer food safety, audits and investigations of the Agriculture Department as well as violations of animal welfare laws. The USDA has been at the heart of concerns about bird flu, which has spread among cattle and chickens and killed a person in Louisiana.

In 2022, the inspector general’s office launched an investigation of Elon Musk’s brain implant startup Neuralink, which remains ongoing, sources said. In recent years, the office has also taken on animal abuse at dog breeders for research labs and the listeria outbreak at Boar’s Head, among other issues.

Musk spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars to help President Donald Trump get elected in November and has emerged as a key player in the president’s orbit.

Fong was among the 17 federal watchdogs fired by Trump on Friday in what critics described as a Friday-night purge. Speaking to reporters afterwards aboard Air Force One, Trump defended the move saying "it’s a very common thing to do." He did not say who would be installed in the vacant posts.

Foreign AffairsGuffey Sextortion Case: Nigerian Man Is Extradited To The US To Face Charges by AImiron(op): 7:14pm On Jan 29, 2025
CNN — South Carolina Rep. Brandon Guffey was overwhelmed with rage when he first saw the man he believes caused his son’s suicide.

The suspect was extradited from Nigeria to the US over the weekend on charges that he targeted 17-year-old Gavin Guffey in a sexual extortion, or “sextortion” scheme, that led to the teen’s death.

The Nigerian appeared in court in Columbia, South Carolina, on Monday, where Brandon Guffey laid eyes on him after more than two years of fighting for justice for his son.

South Carolina Rep. Brandon Guffey was overwhelmed with rage when he first saw the man he believes caused his son’s suicide.

Rage is the best way to describe how I felt,” Guffey told CNN. “I think I cracked molars just gritting my teeth so hard.”

The man, Hassanbunhussein Abolore Lawal, 24, did not make eye contact with him, Guffey said. Lawal kept his head bowed and appeared to avoid looking in his family’s direction, he said.

As part of a sextortion scheme, Lawal allegedly masqueraded as a young woman on social media and sent Gavin nude photos. He asked for similar images of himself, and once Gavin shared the photos, the suspect threatened to publicize them if he didn’t pay, the Justice Department said.

He’s pleaded not guilty to charges of child exploitation resulting in death, distribution of child sexual abuse material, coercion and enticement of a minor, cyberstalking, interstate threats with intent to extort and aiding/abetting, according to court records.

At Monday’s hearing Guffey wore a black T-shirt with the love symbol <3. It represents the last text message Gavin sent loved ones on July 27, 2022, minutes before he shot himself in a bathroom at the family home in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

The FBI arrested Lawal in Lagos last week following an extradition hearing. CNN has reached out to his court-appointed attorney for comment.

Guffey had to sign paperwork confirming he would not push for the death penalty to ensure that the Nigerian government approved the extradition, he said.

Last week, he was shocked to get a call from federal investigators notifying him that the extradition had been approved and they were on their way to pick up Lawal. Investigators confirmed his arrival in Columbia on Saturday.

“It was a surprise. I knew that they had been working on the process, but extradition was not something that commonly happens with Nigeria,” Guffey said. “There was still that anticipation and fear until his feet were actually on US soil.”

At a press conference, investigators declined to provide details on how they tracked the suspect to Nigeria or whether there were other suspects involved. Some of the court documents in the case are sealed.

Lawal faces up to life in prison, while the charge of child exploitation resulting in death alone carries a mandatory 30-year sentence. A court may also order he pay restitution for losses incurred by the Guffey family because of the scheme.

Guffey said the scammer’s extortion attempts continued even after his son’s death. Anyone with the last name Guffey among Gavin’s Instagram followers started getting messages demanding money, he said. About two weeks after his son’s funeral, Guffey said he received a private Instagram message with a laughing emoji. Guffey and his younger son also got messages demanding money in exchange for not releasing Gavin’s nude photos.

Guffey shared the messages with federal investigators, and they took control of the social media accounts and began communicating with the scammer — which eventually helped them learn his identity, he said.

“They were able to pick up the conversation as agents to where he thought that he was talking to my 16-year-old. They were able to track him down, I think through that conversation and his continued efforts of trying to extort me as well,” he said.

Foreign AffairsGoogle Maps Will Change The Gulf Of Mexico To The Gulf Of America by AImiron(op): 5:16pm On Jan 28, 2025
New York, CNN — Google is complying with President Donald Trump’s executive action that renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America. Soon, the name change will appear on Google Maps.

In a post on X, Google explained that it has a “longstanding practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources.” The name will be tweaked when the Geographic Names Information System, a government database of names and location data, is updated.

Google will also change the name of Mount McKinley, the nation’s highest peak, from Denali. Former President Barack Obama renamed the Alaska landmark to Denali in 2015 as a nod to the region’s native population.

Both changes stem from an executive action that Trump signed shortly after taking office last week, saying the changes “honor American greatness.”

It is in the national interest to promote the extraordinary heritage of our Nation and ensure future generations of American citizens celebrate the legacy of our American heroes,” the executive order said.

The order criticized Obama’s decision to rename McKinley as “an affront to President McKinley’s life, his achievements, and his sacrifice.” Drawing parallels to Trump, the order notes that McKinley “championed tariffs” and was assassinated “in an attack on our Nation’s values and our success.

And in a nod to the Gulf of Mexico’s contributions to the US economy, Trump is “directing that it officially be renamed the Gulf of America.” The executive order calls for all federal government maps and documents to “reflect its renaming.”

Google notes that only users in the United States will see both changes because when “official names vary between countries, Maps users see their official local name. Everyone in the rest of the world sees both names. That applies here too.”

Foreign AffairsMexico Now Accepting Non-Mexican Deportees From US by AImiron(op): 7:06pm On Jan 27, 2025
MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexico has received non-Mexican deportees from the United States over the past week, President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Monday, reversing her previous opposition to doing so.

Sheinbaum said that Mexico had accepted over 4,000 deportees, of which a "large majority" were Mexican.

U.S. President Donald Trump took office last week, promising massive deportations of migrants who were in the U.S. illegally.

But in the days since, there has not yet been a "substantial" increase in deportees received by Mexico, Sheinbaum said.

The leftist leader had previously said that her administration had not agreed to the restart of the "Remain in Mexico" program by the Trump administration, which would send non-Mexican migrants back to Mexico while they awaited processing by the United States.

Sheinbaum said that deportations received from the U.S. had included people sent on four flights using civil aircraft. Reuters reported on Friday, citing a U.S. and Mexican official, that Mexico had refused a deportation flight operated by the U.S. military.

Such deportation flights have also caused an outcry from Brazil and Colombia in recent days.

Brazil accused the U.S. of "blatant disrespect" of deportees who were handcuffed on a flight, while Colombian President Gustavo Petro and Trump tussled on Sunday, nearly bringing the countries to the brink of a trade war over Petro's refusal to accept U.S. military deportation flights. Petro later agreed to accept the flights.

According to Sheinbaum, who called the agreement between Trump and Petro "good," the Mexican government and U.S. government were constantly in talks on immigration issues and other deals could be reached in coming days.

She said there was a precedent for Mexico receiving non-Mexican migrants from the U.S. Her predecessor, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, had agreed to the "Remain in Mexico" program during Trump's first term.

Foreign AffairsTrump Could Do Incredible Damage To Mexico And Canada With A Single Signature by AImiron(op): 3:29pm On Jan 24, 2025
New York, CNN — President Donald Trump, with the stroke of a pen, could plunge America’s closest neighbors into recession.

Trump, on his first day in office, suggested he may do just that. Trump has threatened to impose 25% tariffs on all goods from Canada and Mexico on February 1 in response to what he views as inadequate border security failing to stop drugs and migrants from coming into the United States.

Spiking tariffs on Canada and Mexico would risk starting a full-blown trade war inside the deeply interconnected North American economy, where delicate supply chains have built close ties over the past several decades.

It would be a risky gamble for Trump, one with massive implications for the entire continent – and a test for the three neighboring nations, all of which have new or transitioning leadership.

Economists say that the tariffs, should they materialize, would swiftly send the Canadian and Mexican economies into recession and likely lift consumer prices for Americans on cars, gasoline and other imported items.

This would be a real trade war, not a trade skirmish. This is serious. You would see job loss and people lose their homes,” said Joe Brusuelas, chief economist at RSM.

That’s why some on Wall Street believe Trump is bluffing. Investors are not dumping stocks. CEOs are not panicking. Economists have not dimmed their growth forecasts.

After all, starting a North American trade war would undermine Trump’s promises to turbocharge the US economy and attack the cost of living.

It would risk unraveling the massive gains in the stock market, which Trump views as a real-time report card of sorts. And the Federal Reserve could feel compelled to keep interest rates high for longer, preventing the mortgage rate relief that Trump seeks.

Foreign AffairsClassified Docs Case Dismissal Means ‘Greatest' Legal 'Threat’ To Trump Is ‘gone by AImiron(op): 6:59pm On Jul 15, 2024
A Florida judge dismissed the case against former President Trump for the handling of classified documents, and some legal experts are calling it a "strongly reasoned" opinion that eliminates the "greatest legal threat" to the presumptive 2024 GOP just ahead of the Republican National Convention

On Monday, Florida District Judge Aileen Cannon issued a 93-page opinion dismissing the case on the grounds that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith to oversee the case was unconstitutional.

"Upon careful study of the foundational challenges raised in the motion, the Court is convinced that Special Counsel’s Smith’s prosecution of this action breaches two structural cornerstones of our constitutional scheme – the role of Congress in the appointment of constitutional officers, and the role of Congress in authorizing expenditures by law," Cannon wrote.

Jonathan Turley, a defense attorney and law professor at George Washington University, told Fox News Monday that "of all of the cases that could be dismissed, this would be at the top of the list. This was the greatest threat. And for now, at least, it's gone."

Trump had faced charges stemming from Smith's investigation into his possession of classified materials at Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. He pleaded not guilty to all 37 felony counts from Smith’s probe, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and false statements.

John Malcolm, a former federal prosecutor and director of the Ed Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, said that the case brought by Smith was the "most serious of the four criminal cases that were filed against him.

John Yoo, a constitutional attorney, told Fox News Digital that the question of the constitutionality of special counsel has been debated for over 20 years. "We've been thinking and talking about this, these people who specialize in the Appointments Clause. The courts have generally been deferential to the Justice Department and how they want to appoint different lawyers."

"But I think because of how aggressive Jack Smith has been, he prompted close scrutiny from the courts," said Yoo.

Yoo said Cannon's decision is "a very thorough, strongly reasoned, persuasive opinion [that] goes through the history of special counsels and all the statutes that are involved."

"This decision is very well-reasoned and very well-written," said John Shu, a constitutional attorney who served in both Bush administrations. "It’s not surprising because Congress intentionally allowed the independent counsel statute, which the Supreme Court found constitutional, to lapse, and they never replaced or amended it."

"And thus Congress, through its inaction, just allowed the regulatory agency, in this case the DOJ, to go ahead and promulgate its own regulations in place of an actual enabling statute," he explained.

Monday's decision is the latest in a string of legal victories for the former president. Earlier this month, the Supreme Court ruled that he and future presidents are granted limited immunity from prosecution for official acts in office. That decision directly impacted Smith's separate case against Trump related to the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

"All of these cases seem to be collapsing of their own weight, and it's because of lawfare," said Jim Trusty, a former federal prosector and former lawyer for Trump.

"This is the price of lawfare when you create different crimes and different investigative approaches, and you do it all in the name of self-righteousness that Donald Trump needs to be stopped, which is really the philosophy behind all these prosecutions."

I wonder how he's going to stage this shooting, being a man hunted by the incumbent government.

Foreign AffairsTrump Breaks Silence On Assassination Attempt: 'i'm Not Supposed To Be Here" by AImiron(op): 4:46pm On Jul 15, 2024
Former President Trump is now breaking his silence on the assassination attempt against him during a rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.

I’m not supposed to be here, I’m supposed to be dead," Trump told the New York Post. "I’m supposed to be dead."

"The doctor at the hospital said he never saw anything like this, he called it a miracle," Trump also told the newspaper onboard his private plane while heading to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for this week’s Republican National Convention. "By luck or by God, many people are saying it’s by God I’m still here."

Trump told the Post that had he not turned his head slightly to the right to read a chart on illegal immigration, the bullet that grazed him would have been fatal.

He described the Secret Service agents that rushed at him like "linebackers," mentioning another one eliminated the gunman with "one shot right between the eyes."

"They did a fantastic job," he told the Post. "It’s surreal for all of us.

As Secret Service agents rushed Trump off the stage, he was heard saying he wanted to get his shoes.

"The agents hit me so hard that my shoes fell off, and my shoes are tight," he explained to the Post.

Trump, reacting to images of him raising his fist and being surrounded by Secret Service agents in the seconds following the shooting, said, "A lot of people say it’s the most iconic photo they’ve ever seen."

They’re right and I didn’t die. Usually you have to die to have an iconic picture," he added. "I just wanted to keep speaking, but I just got shot."

Trump also told the New York Post that he appreciated the "fine" and "very nice" call he received from President Biden in the aftermath of the event, noting – without specifics – that the race between them could be more civil going forward.

He praised his rally audience for staying calm during the entire incident.

A lot of places … you hear a single shot, everybody runs. Here there were many shots and they stayed," Trump said. "I love them. They are such great people."
