My fiancee and I are just about to embark on this K1 journey. We just filled the I-129 form and currently gathering the other required items for filing. But we're wondering if it's okay if I send a scanned signed copy of the letter of intent to marry, or if I have to dhl an original signed copy?

Secondly, there's no reference to beneficiary's passport in the form, my fiancee is wondering whether we also need to send a copy of my passport's data page.

(letter of intent)scan and send it ur passport is not a requirement ‘’but’’ if u like u can also scan and send it and save ur money … good luck on ur journey

@justwanjapa, did you present a divorce certificate for the previous guy? In the eye of the US consulate, you were married to your boyfriend without divorcing him.

I had a child out of wed luck in 2016.
In 2019 I applied for a students visa. Scared that I will be denied for being single, I chose "Common Law Marriage" and added my boyfriend's name as a spouse (I know, Big Mistake). The visa got denied, we broke up, I forgot all about it. The child was not added on this application.

Fast forward 2020, I got married to an American Citizen here in Nigeria and he filed an I-130 for me. We went through the NVC process for myself as the wife of a USC and my child as the stepchild of a USC. Everything was approved and we were scheduled for an interview this month. When we got there, the officer was nice and friendly and I gave all my documents. She looked at it and then all of a sudden, sent me to another officer.

The new person I was sent to started asking me questions about my former spouse and that was when I remembered. (I know, so stupid) I said we were engaged to be married but it didn't work out. So he went inside and came out with the white paper stating that my application has been refused under 221g. The agent then told me to tell my husband to call Immigration in the US to get this resolved. My husband has called immigration but they said they haven't received any communication from Lagos regarding our case.

My question now is.

Is it possible to get this resolved?
How long is this process of resolving this going to take?
Should I just forget about this and relocate to another country and try to get to the US from there?

I'm just so confused, sad and depressed.

2.. i will say u get married and file for CR1 visa…

Please I need a clear advice on this. I’m on a student visa in the UK and my fiancé is about to file for me. Should she put UK embassy or Nigeria embassy? I will be here for the next 2yrs. Hi guys, I had my interview today and all glory to God, it went well, it was a success. These are the things that were required:

*Contact Sheet
*Photocopy of passport biodata page with your original passport.
*Birth Certificate / Attestation of birth (original)
*Ds160 confirmation page
*2 passports photographs
*form i-34
*IRS tax transcript
*Evidence of relationship (pictures, chat logs, flight itinerary.... etc)
*Police Certificate.(Original or Coloured print)

The following questions were asked. Mind you it's different strokes for different folks. But the most important thing is for you to know your spouse well.

*Who filed for you?
*How did you meet?
*How many times has she visited you?
*How many siblings does she have?
*Where does she work and what does she do?
*where does she stay?

Yours might be different, be confident and relate like you're just having a normal conversation with boldness.

Hello everyone, pls I have a concern and will appreciate any response. I have met my fiance we spent 5 weeks together in Nigeria. He is looking to submit the K1 petition but my divorce proceedings is still ongoing and may require 3-4 months to be completed. My question is does my fiance need my divorce papers to file the K1 petition or he can proceed without it? I know my divorce will be over and docs ready before the K1 approval.

From the look of things you are most likely to have your F1 interview before the K1 yeah?

1. If you’re approved you can abandon or end the K1 petition and go to the US for studies and adjust your status in the process. There are few ways you can do this, of which getting married to a USC is one them and you already have a fiancé you guys are planning to get married yeah. But this is practically a red flag for F1 visa because students are expected to return to their home country after studies.

2. You can go to US for studies on F1 then come back to have your K1 visa interview in your home country when you’re are at that stage, if approved or not you can still go back to continue your studies but you will be open to seamless adjustment of status and other opportunities if approved for K1.

On the contrary, if the consular finds out that you have a pending K1 petition while you apply for F1 he/she may believe you are desperate and and you will not return, it could establish mixed feelings on your purpose of going to the US, though you have the chance to prove them wrong but those guys sometimes just wanna believe whatever impressions they wanna believe.

NB: make sure whatever information you have on your F1 application do not contradict the ones you inputted in your K1, weigh your options well and consider how close you are to a successful K1 process.

Good morning beloved brethren, please is consent letter from fiancee parents and relative part of the requirements needed for the US citizen to file for the K1 visa. If yes, can the letter be written by the concerned parties and just mailed directly to the spouse in US?

Yw, for sometime now k1 and spousal petitions have been taking almost the same processing time but spousal has a lot more benefits, look up more information on uscis page, they have average processing time there and some petition could take less than the processing time while some could be more.
