SerPounce: Aircom bro, thanks a lot for this. The place where I got the request letter is in a Local Government Area different from the one I filled in my NYSC documents. Hope this does not pose a problem? Also, they gave me a letter of employment to take to the NYSC. Would that suffice? Or should I go back to them and ask for a letter ADDRESSED to the NYSC that specifically requests my services?

Nah it won't pose a problem..ppl actually got jobs outside their local govt especially in ikeja..The letter of employment would be considered but just make sure it has ur call up no. and your state code in the body of the letter caz that how NYSC mostly identify us..Better still if its not goin to be a difficult task u can go back to ur firm, give them your code no details and tell them to address it to

SerPounce: That's bad man. Is it that NYSC just posts corpers randomly without finding out if an organisation needs their services or not. Tales of rejection at PPAs everywhere. Saw a thread here on nairaland about corpers that were posted to a playhouse. These are graduates for Christ's sake! From the post the playhouse even rejected some of them. Wishing you a better PPA bro.

P. S: Since you guys were rejected where they posted you, hope they would accept a request letter if you come with one? Cos I got one from a private organisation. It makes no sense to put us through getting a rejection letter and having to come back to them again. This one that they are rejecting Stream 1 corpers in some places, what hope for we the stream two guys. I hear some schools are even rejecting corpers if they already have the teachers that take the subjects you can handle. And they are saying they only accept request letters from organisations in certain areas. Any info on this?

Actually what I suggest wat we all do right now is get request/acceptance letters from where we wish to get posted to shud we get rejected. All the corpers I know that applied for reposting with a request letter (from d firm they wish to get assigned to) attached to the reposting letter 2weeks ago got posted to where they wanted. Every Ppa NYSC actually have in mind to post us right now is really choked ..My local govt inspector made it clear to me..Today I and a friend that got rejected at our initial ppa failed to get new ppa letters for reposting(which made me sorta happy) caz when we wrote our reposting letter, we did not attach any request letter..yeah we had non then ..and a lady at the secretariat told us she's gonna give us till thursday to provide a request letter else na primary..school tinz...hehehehe Just the tot of teachin a primary schl kid alone sent shivers down my friend's spine..So we decided to storm all d electrical organizations(private or public) in ikeja..we could set eyes on..Eventually we were in front of ikeja distribution board..We went in, explained to the admin manager our predicament, she told us to come back 2mao.that the company's slot for corpers are almost exhausted but hopefully she may pull off something..
Just 3 corpers out of the twelve from my initial ppa got reposted without a request letter to schls so all am saying right now is AFTER REJECTION a request letter(regardless if it's for a private or public firm) is a safe bet if u don't want to find yourself in a classroom..

Hey guys sowie 4 d long leave of absence..NYSC ripped my heart 2 shreds last week after every corper at my ppa received letter of rejection from d organisation..reasons bin dey don't need our services 4 now.. still in shock hehehehe we were told to come to the secretariat today 4 reposting...make sure u guys re all on ur khaki trousers n white t-shirt yeah including d white shoes or jungle boots else..u won't be attended to..lookin forward to seein u guys

Yeah d normal registration where you would be given state code no.tags..Make sure u dnt lose d d code tags..caz u would return dem may be d next time u go back 4 ur ppa letter to get ur NYSC I D card..

well dear..d criteria on how NYSC carry out their posting still sorta freaks me out..tho every corper in my ppa studied electricity related fields..I av dis homie..We go way back, we graduated 4rm d same university, were in the same platoon, studied Mech Engineering only 4 him to get posted to a private primary schl..An Engineering Graduate. So prixxy d odds re unexplainable buh some corpers dat read something related 2 ur field got posted to NAFDAC, Ministry of health and Medical agencies..But what I suggest u do is be among d first 500 or 600 to register come Sept 1st or 3rd as ur case may be..yeah my guy registered late am guessin dats why he found himself in d classroom caz all d slots in the ministries or firms related 2 his course were already taken..dats d only reasonable explanation I can deduce...May d Lord continue 2 favor us all..

Bro honestly d chances re slim 2 nothing..d camp co-ordinator made it clear dat dey were given explicit orders 4rm their oga at d top hehehehe the DG..nt to assign corpers to multinational companies n banks..maybe.. only if u got rejected at ur ppa..n d company/corporation u want to get assigned to send d NYSC zonal officer a letter of request..(Believe u me dat letter cud take like 4rever b4 it gets 2 d zonal officer given d recent turn of events)..I av a frnd actually in a similar situation..he was posted 2 a schl..but he tld me he got a rejection letter n plans to be reassigned 2 a ministry or private firm with d help of his uncle..will try n keep u posted it works out.

SerPounce: Please keep updating us if there is any info we should be aware of. Like the one you posted about keeping a copy of our PPA letters. Once again, happy service year guy.

Which means seeing Ministry of Special Duties on one's PPA letter doesn't necessarily mean that one will serve at the secretariat, but it makes one eligible for the extra pay. Thanks a lot. All that remains is for us to see how ours is going to be, if some of us will get the pay and where we are going to serve.

My nigga ..na ur platoon inspector go give u d khaki outfit, take ur details..n even issue u a NYSC I D card..So even if u no meet some one I wan believe say dis wan suppose sure pass caz dis camp official go finally collect ur call up letter n other forms..

And what would you say is the % of Corpers posted to schools in your stream from the ones you've seen. I have not heard of any so far. You're the experienced one now, no vex for our plenty questions. Well 4rm d info I gathered, I think the state alawee varies with respect to ministries n local government honestly, like those in d medical field cud earn close 2 70k-80k if dey re posted to ministry of health..B4 I went 2 my ppA I went 2 alausa secretariat to see if I also stood a chance only to be told dat the 15k state alawee re 4 dose assigned to ministry of special duties..Ministry of Education..n some of my peeps dat whr sent 2 STATE schls had "ministry of special duties" on their ppa letters..so dey went 2 alausa secretariat..4 registration, they were given number tags n told 2 come back on friday..Even if 600 corpers re goin 2 be given d alawee I fink its goin to be jus 300 4 d first stream and 300(let's say 50 slots were saved 4 preferred corpers in each stream) 4 d 2nd stream. D least dey cud do is play fair after denyin stream 2 guys orientation..4 d %. They re many o. It was jus I n a guy in my room dat didn't find ourselves in classrooms(out of 28 guys in a room)I'd say 60%..At my PPA, I didn't want 2 ask d woman who attended to I n my guy abt d alawee so as nt 2 create a bad impression buh when we left a batch A corper goin in asked us if we got assigned dere(lseb) I said yeah..I asked her if d place was fun..she replied " d pay is okay " n den walked into 2 building..I jus smiled n said in my head.." y didnt she jus give us a number..?" Hehehehe God dey

Mannylex: Guy one more question, the guy that got same ppa wiv u, do u have an idea on the location he put? Was it same wiv urs? Really would love Ikeja (could be lucky to get ministry of information technology *wink*) getting ppa on the Island is cool, but the traffic on third mainland bridge can make u cry.

Exactly dear, dats d way it works now in lagos state dey post u to a local government close 2 d location u put as ur Lagos residential address jus 2 reduce d cost of transportation n stress..Dnt worry ur Platoon inspector will give u more details.

They re IT centres in almost every developed local governments take 4 instance, New Horizonz (An ICT body) have branches in Festac ,Ikeja n Abule-egba..I think they are even more on the island (v-island,marina,lekki,ajah,Epe,lagos island) buh on d island, hehehehehe accommodation is ridiculously expensive n d traffic can be more hectic..
Yesterday I n a non lagosian(funny enuf he was 4rm futminna buh didn't knw until he tld me he knew me in schl) happened 2 be posted 2 d same ppa(lagos state electricity board). After d PR0 stamped our ppa letters..d non lagosian asked if he cud be granted 2wks 2 sort his accommodation ish..she granted it without hesitation n told him she's sorry dat most ppa don't give accomodation in lag. So after we exited d building, I asked d security guy..Aw much wud it take to get a small apartment in ikeja 4 a year, he tld us it wud cost us..dat give or take we re lookin at arnd 150k-180k tops. He then tld us It wud be relatively cheaper to get a place within iyana ipaja,shasha...d non lagosian made a call 2 his mum n den told me he cud manage dat in ikeja. All am tryin 2 say is houses in d mainland especially dose along d oshodi axis re safe bets 4 guys wiv no relative in lag IMO.. B4 I 4get abeg make whona photocopy ur ppa letter 4 future references..u may be asked 2 provide a copy.as u knw proof by NYSc official..I 4got 2 photocopy mine caz I was movin up n down with luggages yday n I was in a haste 2 get home. 2mao I will try n see wether she go gree me photocopy since she has stamped it.

I put aguda,ogba as my location in the forms I was given, dats whr my aunt is based actually. NYSC tend to post you to d local government within d area u stated as ur Lagos residence in the forms u submitted 4 registration..
Okay dis goes to non-lagosians..When u re filling the home residential box, in the forms u re advice nt to repeat d address u wrote as ur residential address for lagos state residence, even if u don't have a lagos state residence don't leave it blank..just put down a location whr u think its less traffic free, and well developed with industries around 2 create opportunities 4 us..Caz I av a frnd from KD who left d lagos state residence box blank in d form n got posted 2 epe to teach a private primary schl..Apparently she just realized her uncle stays in Bariga...So u can imagine her cost of transportation.. @Mannylex I read Physics Electronics.
