99% of players will balloon that ball.
Strikers valued all over the world at 70m, are not up to 0.5%. So you are right about that 99%. 0.5% would do better than that.

I am sure this guy below too has that weakness for him to to score a chance even easier than Moratas
At least he hit the pole. At morata's age no sensible person questioned ronaldo's goal scoring ability.

I cant be generating gifs for everything. If you want to see more difficult goals scored by a sharp striker that is good in anticipating, go and check some of belotti's goals last season. You will know why zola preferred him to morata.

The Arsenal defender intervention probably messed up his timing
That's a weakness. All strikers are trained to anticipate whenever they are in the box, not forgetting that he called for the ball. Most sharp strikers would deal with that chance well. Cahill and ivanovic might have done better self.

You are the one who is being rigid in your analysis. You are trying to criticise the alternate viewpoint without full grasp of the underlying principles.

This is it. Because the whole concept of this is that in a fluid system, no one gets marked out. And that's where your analysis falls down.

Marking-out only happens when you play a system that is heavily reliant on a single outlet. In a fluid system, marking-out becomes redundant upon initiation because everyone utilises everyone else's attributes to be equally dangerous.

That's the whole point.
There is nothing like fluid system when you are playing against 11 players defending deeply against your team, to grind out result. Costa had to bully martins indi to score, against a stubborn stoke. When chelsea played against barca in 2012, fluid system got them to nowhere against a defensive chelsea. Their striker was nowhere to be found.

Hazard was successfully marked out by herrera and the team went to sleep. Do you think morata would have freed hazard from herrera's shackles with his weak ball protection? So, saying no one can be marked out in conte's system is invalid.

Teams dont even need to double up on morata, he is there for the taking.

[s]And the Benzema that benched him, how many league goals did Benzema score?

This is not logical, Marking out one striker and marking out 2 others plus striker which one is easier to do?. If you have one arrow head who shoulders the bulk of the goal, then opponents will injure him or double team him, But if you have 3 potent players who can score when one is marked the others will score.[/s] Morata will score but he will never score 30 20 goals a season

and the 2014/15 season you mentioned Costa. Costa missed 6 games in that time and Hazard delivered 2 goals in 6 games. 1 of those goals was from a penalty situation. Is that what you call deliver?
To you hazard stepping up, is about scoring alone as if he was the striker that replaced costa, later you will be adding goals and assists together to rate players. In the absence of costa in that season, hazard was instrumental to a point shared at city, with an assist. A goal in a 2-1 victory away to villa, assist for that lone goal victory at qpr, the winning goal against manchester utd, the lone goal against crystal palace. Take away his influence as a winger in those matches, city would have won the league before costa returned.

However, hazard cant guarantee higher numbers of goals when he returns from injury, the striker we bought for 70m should.

In case you missed it, raumdeuter trolled Lukaku that his first touch was so bad that he landed in Man United instead of Chelsea. When we signed Morata, I made that comment to troll Man United.

And when I made that comment, 'first touch' have been flying around.

You have been clamouring for morata since God-knows-when. You confirmed that morata's first touch is top notch, unlike lukaku's. That line had nothing to do with trolling. Just accept you hailed morata for his superb first touch which emaprince didnt know of.

We will see if morata is better than lukaku in scoring goals too this season, which is the primary duty of a striker.

Then Hazard and co have to up their scoring game or be replaced. Depending on one star striker to do the bulk of the scoring is risky like when Zlatan came down with injuries? Or when your main striker is marked out.

Chelsea have deployed a method where the 3 guys have less defensive worries then they should pay back with goals across board or get sold

Thats why I keep hammering that every attacking player like Hazard have to be delivering high numbers of goals and assists not just forming activity all over the field
Nobody said other players should not score. Hazard did last season and we benefited. Now shifting the burden to other players is the bigger gamble. Like you said if the striker is marked out, hazard and co can step in. What happens if hazard and co are marked out? Hazard delivered when costa had injuries in 2014/15 season. What we re saying is, strikers should be able to score more goals, cos the competition is tougher than before. If an injured hazard returns and is expected to up his goal tally, morata a 70m man should drop his, right?

We dont need a midfielder as striker, we are not real madrid with ronaldo. Even zidane benched him for benzema. To strike, means to hit, not to pamper.

“If I had to buy one striker I would go to Kane. He is a complete striker. He is strong physically, with the ball, without the ball, he fights and he’s strong in the air and acrobatic on the right and the left. He’s a complete player. He’s one of the top strikers in the world

Conte - ‘You know very well the dynamic of the market: it seemed that Morata would finish at Manchester United and Lukaku at Chelsea. Instead it happened the other way around.’

Conte - ‘Morata is having training with us and for sure he has to improve a lot his physical condition to go quickly to the idea of our football,’ said Conte.

Most, if not all morata's goals last season can be scored by costa in real madrid. Can you say the same for morata in a chelsea team? There are times pedro and hazard will switch off on the pitch or get injured, your striker should have that nerve to score out of nothing like you stated.

Good. Now you're talking.

So we should be discussing about how our entire strike force should improve their goal scoring output not just Morata.

Hazard - Morata - Pedro can be a devastating attack line if they all improve in their goal stat. We have one of the best (if not the best) in the assist chart, Fabregas.

If we can play that attack and somehow fit Fabregas in our midfield, I don't see why that trio won't give us 45 50 goals.

Drogba didn't score much but he has players to share the goal scoring job with. The same way we should be looking at other players in the current squad to score more and not depend only on Morata's goals for trophies.
I have been talking since, you are the one not reasoning with me. Hazard is injured, even when fit, he cant guarantee high number of goals. The competition is stronger now, with man city and man utd looking set to devour. Any slip up, dropping points against top teams earlier in the season, may see our season over when it's just starting.

Drogba, despite not scoring high number of goals earlier at chelsea, was a fighter. He was stronger than morata, fighting every balls, drawing the likes of damien duff, lampard, gudjohnsen and co to wreck havoc. That era is gone.

I wasn't surprised when conte said morata wasn't ready. Every real madrid follower, who understands epl's demands, wouldn't be surprised. I watched most of his matches last season and i am not criticising his style for fun. It doesn't suit ours based on what we have on ground.

The question is, did Drogba our target man score 20+ goals for us to win titles? Why must Airmark continue his 20+ goals line everytime?

Yes Costa's goals won us titles, so does Morata's goals in Madrid. It must not be 20+ goals.

Stop misunderstanding me bros. I said Costa's goals won us titles and I still stand by that. Morata's goals won Madrid a title last season too. So yes, goals win titles. BUT IT MUST NOT BE 20+ GOALS.

Wetin hard to understand there?
Nihilist had answered you, yet you won't reason stuffs out. The mou's squad then, boasted of great attackers who could score goals on their own. The era of accommodating long goal drought for strikers in big teams is over now, as competition has become rife. Goals win matches, we cant rely on hazard who we know is not an high-scoring attacker and out injured. That is a big gamble, that no sensible coach will rely on.

Morata's goals won real madrid titles, just as cahill's goals won us epl. Did ronaldo score the same number of goals hazard scored last season? Was morata the one responsible for ronaldo's 25 goals last term or high number of goals he had been scoring all these years? You are not making any point at all.

Airmark abeg which Zola are you shouting up and down here? Is it the Zola I know? The Zola that literally resigned from Birmingham job after just 24 matches as coach? The Zola that inherited Birmingham in 7th position but left after just 2 wins in 24 matches and in 21st position? Is it the Zola that have coached 5 teams but couldn't stay beyond 2 years in a team?

Is this the Zola that we should listen to instead of Conte?

Bros it is one thing to be a legend as a player but yet an all together different thing to make it in the tactical world of coaches. Ask Maradona.

You keep shouting 20+ goals everywhere, mentioning Drogba along the line. Have you forgotten how Drogba's Chelsea career started? Chelsea won the league in his first season but how many league goals did he score? Just 10 goals! His second season, Chelsea retained the title. How many league goals did Drogba score? Just 12 goals! It was only in Drogba's third season did he hit the ground running, scoring 20 league goals (which by the way is one of only 2 times Drogba score 20 or more league goals in his Chelsea career.)

Drogba is our legend no doubt about that. But looking at the numbers, you will find out that criticising Morata at this point is just plain hating.

Free the guy. We didn't need Drogba's 20+ goals to win EPL titles because we play as a team. The same way, we don't need Morata to score 20+ goals to win EPL titles.

Drogba got his first 20 league goal in a season in his 3rd year is like Morata getting his in the year 2020. So calm down.

Thank you.
Zola said morata would not fit into our style, that we should buy a striker that will hit the ground running. Fast forward, before morata played his first game, conte was already saying kane was his ideal striker, that morata needed time to adapt. If you cant see sense in what zola said and the reality on ground now, it's not my problem.

That pep has always been struggling with his defensive setups, doesn't make him dumb in other aspect of coaching a team. So if zola failed as an all-round coach in average teams, that doesn't mean he won't have a good knowledge of the type of attackers that will gel in a big team. Di matteo won us ucl, but last year he was hired and fired by aston villa within 4 months. So if matteo airs his views now, you will ask him to shut it.

Meanwhile, Zola was a chelsea attacker and a great one at that. So from experience, what he had said for now, is spot on. We are not even sure if morata was conte's first choice. If he was and he is telling us he needs time to adapt, then i have overrated him as a coach. Then the board may be right dragging foot to rush and sign more spineless players suggested by him. Let's be more intelligent in our convo.
Thank you.

The Manifestation of Uncontrollable Desperation to prove a weak point.

How dare we go against advice of the all-knowing Zola and Desailly when it comes to Chelsea transfer matters? There and then, we should have known it was the wrong move, once the Oracle spoke.

I would love to know what yourself, Zola and Desailly thought about Alonso when he transferred to Chelsea. Or about Moses at RWB, before anyone thought that was even remotely possible. I really would have loved to see your candid opinion (and Zola's and Desailly's) if you all knew David Luiz would play at the heart of any back-line and lead his team to a title-winning season.

We all love Airmark, Zola and Desaiily for what they did at Chelsea. But when it comes to tactical football, harnessing a team's inconspicuous collective talent, player development and winning titles, I know who I will choose. I will choose the foolish Conte.
Nobody is above mistakes in life and no one is perfect. Conte is not perfect and we don't need a fortune teller to tell us the type of strikers that mostly succeeded in epl in general and chelsea in particular. We aren't even sure if he was responsible for morata's coming.

Conte's system that worked for us requires a striker, who is strong and ready to fight for all balls and bring other attackers to play. Some of us watched morata in madrid and could give a brilliant submission to that regards. Hence, we didnt back his deal.

There were matches costa won for us because he was a fighter. Drogba also was and we saw how he fared. If we need hazard or another striker for morata to function, then we should forget about defending the title. That's a numerical deficit in order to replicate costa's feat. It means pedro must sit out or one midfielder, based on formation we adjust to. No matter how you view it, there will be a hole created to accommodate a non-scoring striker.

Zola and desailly are not all-knowing, no one is. They may have better ideas that conte might not have thought of, as regards our attacking third. They might have watched morata more recently than conte. That doesn't mean they are better than conte as an all-round coach.

Based on what we have seen and what conte had said, zola and desailly were right. The problem now is, by the time we wait for morata to be ready, how far would we be from the apex of the table. Knowing that hazard would not hit the peak immediately he returns and batshuayi is not looking ready to carry the team.

As regards my view on alonso and moses playing wing backs, that was not shocking. We had seen eboue, from being a right winger to a full back. Alex sandro wasn't a wing back before, so it was something we could welcome. Their cases were different from the morata we knew as a weak striker in madrid last season. He was bought to play as a striker, not to change position.

As regards david luiz, the emboldened below, should clear your doubts.

pkasso:
Luiz is definitely on another level. People are now drawing comparisms between him and Beckenbauer. I am so happy for him. He has always been unfairly criticized. The scapegoat when things go wrong. You should have seen the negative comments here when Chelsea signed him on deadline day. No one gave him a chance. Only airmark was optimistic enough. Credit must also go to Conte for bringing out the best in him. Ramuzaki should be placed on suicide watch. Luiz keeps proving him wrong with each passing game. If this continues, Apari might just 'pokunso' grin.
