The viral News that a Liberian couple based in Minnesota ate poisoned food served by the mans brother because he was sent monies to build properties he did not want to hand over is NOT TRUE... FrontPageAfrica has authoritatively gathered from family and investigative sources that the death of the couple whose remains were found on December 25, 2016, their wedding anniversary day, at their Chocolate City residence in Monrovia, was a result from asphyxiation, secondary to carbon monoxide.A family source informed FrontPageAfrica that they were informed by the Dr. Christopher Chinedu Obiorah, an Anatomical Pathologist from Nigeria, who conducted autopsy on the remains of Lawrence and Shelly Gross that he discovered that their remains had swollen brains which is consistent with carbon monoxide inhalation. . Corroborating the preliminary autopsy report, FrontPage Africa also gathered from Police sources that a 1.5 KVA Ruina gasoline generator was placed in the garage of house to provide electricity for an air condition that was being installed in the guest room of the house where the Gross stayed. According to a Police source, the garage in which the generator was placed did not have an opening for the smoke to exit; as a result the smoke circulated in the house. “The poisonous gas was concentrated in the deceased room which faced directly across the hallway where the inner door to the garage is located. The house’s windows too are air tight so ventilation was very poor in the house. You see, the thing about carbon monoxide is that it is odorless, tasteless and colorless. It is very difficult to detect and it’s very dangerous. The sad thing was that there was no exhaust pipe connected to the generator for the smoke to exit the building,” the Police source said. Also writing on Gofundme, their son, said: "On December 23rd, Lawrenece and Shelly Gross Left Minneasota for Liberia to go celebrate their wedding anniversary, which fell on December 25th. Unfortunately instead of this day being a day of celebration it became a day of tragedy. It was announced on Xmas Day they were found dead in their room from the suffocation of generator smoke." Nigeria has approved that the Aviation Security personnel should bear arms to enhance security of passengers and installations at the airports. The Minister of State for Aviation, Mr. Hadi Sirika, unveiled on Wednesday at the end of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting which was presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari. He said his ministry would partner with the Ministry of Interior and other stakeholders in the training of the affected Aviation Security personnel in arms’ handling. “We are very serious about aviation security, just last week the President approved that aviation security should bear arms, so we are trying to make them take the form and shape. “The Minister of Interior is helping us in that regard from the directive of Mr President, to partner with them and other stakeholders to ensure we keep our airports secure. “So, very soon you will them with uniform, doing different functions and securing our airports.’’ He explained that detail would be provided at the at the next stakeholders meeting. The minister also disclosed that the council approved N1.1 billion for the completion of the Kaduna International Airport Terminal building. He said the contract for the rehabilitation of the building was initially awarded in 2011 at the cost of about N500 million. He said the contractor noticed some structural damages to the building which necessitated the variation of the contract sum to the N1.1 billion. “FEC has approved the completion of Kaduna terminal building. It was awarded in 2011 and commenced in 2012. “During the rehabilitation of the terminal building a contractor noticed some structural damages to the building itself and then increased the scope of what to be done to put it to use and that necessitated the variation of contract sum. “The cost of variation is in excess of 15 per cent, it had to go to the then President Goodluck Jonathan for approval anticipation, that was approved and they went to BPP. “So we brought it to council today to ratify and of course taking into cognisance the exchange rate and inflation that has increased the cost of completion of the terminal building. “Council has approved the completion of that terminal building and it will be completed in six months.’’ On how to manage the closure of Abuja airport and construction of Kaduna airport terminal building, Sirika stated the rehabilitation work would not hinder flight operations. You are barred not to upload such information. “It is prohibited to upload any picture with your uniforms while in operation, because it will become a pragmatic problem for the Nigerian Army.” Source: http://www.ajayiwrites.com/2017/01/nigerian-army-places-ban-on-activities.html

utgoing U.S. President Barack Obama has announced that he would deliver his farewell address on Jan. 10 “to say thank you” to Americans “and to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here”. Obama, in a message: “My farewell address” obtained by the Correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, said he would deliver his farewell address in his hometown, Chicago.“In 1796, as George Washington set the precedent for a peaceful, democratic transfer of power. “He also set a precedent by penning a farewell address to the American people. And over the 220 years since, many American presidents have followed his lead. “On Tuesday, January 10, I’ll go home to Chicago to say my grateful farewell to you, even if you can’t be there in person. “I’m just beginning to write my remarks. “But I’m thinking about them as a chance to say thank you for this amazing journey, to celebrate the ways you’ve changed this country for the better these past eight years. “And to offer some thoughts on where we all go from here. “Since 2009, we’ve faced our fair share of challenges, and come through them stronger. “That’s because we have never let go of a belief that has guided us ever since our founding — our conviction that, together, we can change this country for the better. “So I hope you’ll join me one last time. “Because, for me, it’s always been about you,” the outgoing two-term president said in his invitation. Since George Washington, U.S. presidents have often delivered a final address to the American people as a way to share both their reflections on their time in office and their outlook on the future of the country. The White House said the outgoing president took the country out of one of the worst economic recessions. “President Obama inherited an economy careening toward a second Great Depression, and he acted aggressively to arrest the crisis, restart growth and job creation, rebuild our economy on a stronger long-term foundation, and expand opportunity for all Americans. “Since 2009, the unemployment rate has been cut by more than half from its peak. “‘Yes, we can’. President Obama spoke these three words for the first time as a candidate in January 2008 in New Hampshire. “After eight years, this remains a guiding principal that continues to inspire Americans across the country to come together and find their own ways to move our country forward. “Whether it’s a teacher who sparks a student’s love of learning, an organiser who’s working to make the neighbourhood a little safer for our children or a returning soldier who is taking action to end veteran homelessness. “We all have the power to create progress on behalf of future generations,” the White House said. The Oval Office added: “America is not the project of any one person”. “Because the single most powerful word in our democracy is the word ‘We.’ ‘We The People.’ ‘We Shall Overcome.’ ‘Yes, We Can.’” “These last eight years have been marked by historic moments which have reminded us again and again that “yes, we can,” the White House said. Obama was inaugurated as the 44th U.S. President on Jan. 20, 2008, the only Black man in the history of U.S. to be elected president. The former Illinois senator, who still receives high popularity ratings among Americans, won re-election for the second and last term in 2012, will be out of office on Jan. 20, 2017. Welcome to change era... Lalasticlala |
Commercial drivers in Enugu have recorded low patronage in their businesses during the New Year festivities. A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who visited motor parks in the coal city on Monday, observed that few passengers were seen patronising the parks. At the Garki Motor Park, some drivers were found resting and sleeping due to lack of activities at the park. Some commercial drivers, who spoke with NAN, said that the yuletide break was the cause of the low turnout of the passengers. A taxi driver, Mr Larry Ugwu, said that he was resting in his car and at the same time waiting for passengers to come around. Ugwu said that many, who travelled for the yuletide, were yet to return, adding that most drivers find it difficult get their bus or cars filled up with passengers. “As you can see, I am resting in my bus, praying and waiting for passengers to come so that I will have something to go home with or even buy food for my family,’’ he said. At Peace Park, Mr Ifesinachi Ude, a driver, said that in previous years, people were still travelling by this time of the year either to attend one function or the other. “It is a different case this year as very few people come to the park,’’ Ude said. At the Old Park, Enugu, Mr Okwudili Ejeh, a transporter, attributed the low patronage to the recession as well as the increase in the prices of goods. “It is unfortunate that people cannot afford to travel in spite of the fact that we did not increase transport fares,’’ Ejeh said. However, on the passengers’ side, Miss Joy Imah, said that she was travelling due to family issues, adding that she would not have travelled if not for the issue at stake. Mr Jimoh Balogun, an artisan, said that he was travelling to visit his family in Lagos. “I am only travelling because I want to see my children and my wife, if not I do not think it’s necessary to travel,’’ Balogun, who is a tailor, said.
