Readers are leaders, unfortunately the average Nigerian graduate only read to pass exams. In fact they stop reading after earning their degrees, teachers are gradually becoming of this. Most of us who read do not read wide. I have a library of about 2000 books which I started accumulating in 1995, the books cover various disciplines and areas of human interest eg Politics, Econimics, Marketing, Strategy, Education, Philosophy, Science, Theology, Psychology, Biology, Ecology, Business, Management, History, Culture, Finance, Investment, Enterpreneurship, Personal Development etc. I also have an e-library that consists of over 500 titles. ............................ Currently reading a great book titled "How come THAT idiot's rich and I'm Not" by Robert Shemin. I shall endeavour to share the titles of Personal Development books on this thread once in a month. Someone defined Knowledge as "what we know that gives us an edge". Anybody who is a functional practitioner in the Knowledge industry ought to have an edge over other citizens.

which good bookstores in Lagos can one get these books you have mentioned?

HIGHER PROOF COLLEGE SHALOM STR, BEHIND BARRACKS CAR WASH B/S IDIMU ROAD. Please anybody with direction from ayobo?

From Ayobo, take a bus to Egbeda. If there is no straight bus to Egbeda from Ayobo, take a bus to Iyana-Ipaja, alight at Mosholashi Bus Stop and take a bus to Ikotun/Idimu. Tell the conductor/driver the bus stop u would be alighting and keep on reminding them ooo. You can locate the school from the address you have given. I hope this helps. Goodluck!

So no school needs Yorùbá Tisa?

Aren't you good at any other subject? Try including another subject and yoruba into your cv. Nobody will want to employ someone who can do only thing. And also try taking your cv to schools. Dont wait till there is an advert. Especially for the subject yoruba. Goodluck

In my own case, I am HND holder. Is there any hope of getting a teaching job since I didn't go through education while in school. About going for PGD

Who said there isnt?? I have been working in the educational system for about 4yrs now and im not an education graduate. About going for PGDE though. Be an educationist because you are passionate about imparting knowledge.

Why does everybody call me ma? This is sewious cheesy

The route from Iyana Dopemu isn't straightforward enough for possibly a first timer.

By quoting you, I sought to guide her to a better and surer route, not necessarily to correct you.

I know these routes and the school itself like the back of my hand so I know the best way to get there.

If she's coming for an interview, she'll need the surest route -- a bus, a bus, and a bike.

Ok ma. No probs

Not a very good description I'm afraid embarassed

pls read her post very well ma. She said from ketu or oshodi. Ketu to ikeja is better than ketu to Oshodi. I dont know the exact place the school is but i know she can connect from iyana dopemu. We have so many routes to particular places in Lagos. You should have corrected me by saying that from ikeja she can get a bus going to Egbeda.

But i thought akowonjo was before egbeda from your route.
Why the stop at egbeda and taking a bike back to the school?

Thanks

Hello fellow Nairalanders, pls I nid an advice on an issue dat is botherin me so badly.I went 4 an interview in an international skul som days bak n I was askd 2 prepared a lesson note n 2 also do a micro teachin wic I did respectively but d issue nw is dat my broda dat helpd me apply submitted a differnt cv from d one I tuk dere in persn n d interviewers were puttin up an xpressn on deir faces dat did nt augur well 2 me.pls can dat cv issue b an hindrance 2 me gettin d job

When you noticed the change in expression of their faces, you should have quickly explained to them that the cv you submitted that day was an updated cv. It is better you explained to them than they assuming things in their mind. They would have understood. Maybe they were thinking you weren't consistent thus the expressions in their faces. But all in all lets hope for the best.
What are the differences between the two CVs if i may ask?

Goodluck.

From Ayobo, take a bus going to Lafenwa. Call the number I just gave to get to the school.

Do you work there? How did you get the info?

So u mean when i get to Lafenwa, i now start calling someone for directions?

For this Lagos?

I should know where i am going to before embarking on that journey. Why not post the address or email here and save someone from calling someone who doesnt know there is an advert being placed on behalf of the school. Na Lagos we dey ooo. Sorry for the numerous questions

And the Proprietress does not anything about it.

i wonder ooo. I called the number given this morning to speak to the proprietress and she was like how did i get the number. I said i got it online and she asked me if it was because of a vacancy that i wanted to speak with the proprietress: i said i got the info online that there was a vacancy in the schl and that the number was attached to it. She said she wasnt the proprietress and that she was a staff there.

Hi .....happie new month to y'all....
Jus signed a deal with a sixth form college as I earlier posted here...though d pay is not d@ much but not bad with d fact d@ I'll have to be going to island from mainland....d skuul is jus starting...I jus grab d offer cuz I'll also be teaching A'level with IGCSE and also enrol 4 d exam....seems to me like a double offer @ one goal....I don't mind d pay n stress cuz I see it as a sacrifice and steppingstone to greater heights n opportunities....diz will invariably build up my c.v in multiple folds....gotta leave my present skuul n move on to sacrifice diz next session for upgrading......
N to all doze d@ have signed gud deals ,thank God...n to dose d@ are yet to ,kip searching cuz it's not ova until God says so......
In all, I thank God.

congrats. Is there still vacancy there?

My feedback.....
I applied to a teaching job under cleverland schools, despite all d response from people towards applying for ds job, I couldn't believe I was d only one who came 4 d interview..Firstly, d school structure put me off at d sight of it. Secondly, d aptitude test was like 'my book of bible stories', which I was given 45mins to complete. Thirdly, d oral interview was quite okay, was told by d principal that d school has accommodation with amenities..(wash)... with transport fare within d school environment...(weird)....I was asked d salary I intend to receive, told them 40-50k..only 4 me 2 b told I would be offered 10k...(gasps)..my reply was...'I would get back to d school'...d principal was bemused, she said, we are to get back to you..In conclusion,am dropping d offer, no environment to grow or develop, with d school setting I would work like a clock, and earn like a slave...Better days ahead...2 dose lucky in d transfer window, do all u can 2 kip ur jobs...as 4 others still trying to find their feet lyk me...our testimony ll b full soonest...hustle continues!....

na wah oooo.......... I was actually thinking of applying tomorrow. This is a no-go area for me. Thanks for the feedback. It has helped people like me

ok: if you can go there tomorrow, the better. Follow Evathyst's advice. And when you get there, try as much as possible to get an appointment letter even if its handwritten and signed by the proprietress or principal whichever is applicable. Goodluck
