The Surge certainly has the same fighting mechanics like DS&Nioh and not 'dark' at all. I've not had the chance to settle into the game, not really buying the story.

Personally, I found DS unbearably sluggish.

Yea, I've got V-sync on so that helps but Unreal Engine 4 isn't difficult to run. I've been enjoying it so far.

To date, Nvidia can boast of the fastest GPU but the AMD have the Navi series coming. We'll have to wait and see how those stack up against its competition. The current Vegas (56 & 64) are still beastly but come short of Nvidia on average.

That said, the Vega 56 does better than the GTX 1070 on average hence Nvidia released the GTX 1070 Ti rather swiftly to edge out the Vega56.

Right now, pricing for these cards are too high because of crypto-mining and the shortage of chips to manufacture RAM but crypto-mining interest is dropping off because of increasing difficulty and drop in the value of the crypto currency so I suspect we'll see used gpus flooding the market in the near future if things don't improve.

lol dat is not good news for a lot of the guys. are the mobile ryzen apus out yet? they shud offer far better performance.

The Ryzen 2200G and 2400G are out and are kicking Intels iGPUs arse. The 2400Gs iGPU have similar performance to the Nvidia GT1030 @ 720/1080p. As of today the best option for gaming on a laptop.

Not much to report here from me. no longer use my laptop for gaming. too weak lol

In my opinion, the gaming experience is what matters and this is where the PC potentially has flaws.

On consoles, the software (game) is built around the console's hardware leading to better optimisation. On the contrary, PC game developers cannot design their games for every possible configuration around the world which means if you have sub-par hardware your gaming experience will be poor.

The points raised in the original post are good but I think it's greatly dependant on having the funds available for a gaming PC and interest.

Personally, I see gaming on a PC as a bonus as my PC is used for several other tasks. I had a console and a laptop in the past but knowing I could have a PC that can do both gaming and productivity workloads meant I can have one device that does it all. I also have a lot of passion for modding (hardware/software) and the PC has much more freedom to do those.

I've found that this topic is usually biased though. If one is into tweaking, modding, productivity workloads etc, they'll usually prefer a PC and if one is a casual gamer with little or no interest in the above, they'll usually stick with a console.

At the end of it all, it's the experience that counts and it varies from person to person.

I've created this thread to see who might be interested in playing Assetto Corsa. It's strictly for the petrol heads.

Why, you may ask?

There is a means now to play together from different locations. YAAASSS you heard right multiplayer online and I'll give you a workaround if you don't have steam.

I have a dedicated server running only 10 racers max (humble beginnings).

So show some love if you are interested and I will drop some more info on how to get online with the rest of the crew.

TVs might be going to the 4K trend, but their prices are certainly not user friendly, at least to the average console player. I honestly don't care for 4K, I'm not even big on the fps* talk sef, but I really like when someone is able to get their point across without being an a$$.

*I never really notice it, until it becomes an issue - when it actually affects my gameplay or my enjoyment of the game.

Frame pacing (time between each frame) on console is always equal(for most of the time)and that makes it smooth. In fact, movies play at 24fps(each frame replayed at exactly 41.6milliseconds every time) but you don't notice stutter. That level of optimisation that exist on console to render each frame at exactly the same interval doesn't exist with PC gaming due to some many different PC configurations that can exist.
