After graduation you don't just work, you go do your internship (though getting in is like war) but the money she makes there can set her up in life (independent) before she goes for service. B.MLS is a path to different places as you are covered and not restricted to hospital and lab if you want to venture.

You can go into equipments / instrumentation / reagents supply, you can work at the Presidency, Governors or NASS clinics (if you get mouth), SON, NAFDAC, NDLEA, Primary / secondary / tertiary health institutions, Medical research institutions and if she decides she wants to lecture she goes straight as an Assistant lecturer cos of her years of study while others will be struggling to get graduate assistants.

The truth is many are called but only a few graduates as there's constant screening at any and every level but it's worth every bit of it (in the long run). And please don't choose for her let her make the decision herself be it Medicine, Pharmacy, MLS, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Nursing etc just support her.
Ok. Thanks

I strongly suggest you write another UME instead of wasting your time with those 2 courses. It is even worse if you are a guy studying Biochemistry or microbiology with the hope of using those degrees to make ends meet.

Medical laboratory science killed those 2 courses a long time ago. All their associations executives of those 2 courses were busy chasing albino rats somewhere in laboratory while laboratory scientist were busy creating departments (units) such as medical microbiology and clinical Biochemistry/chemical pathology which renders the Bsc microbiology and Biochemistry like someone suggested as useless as 'P' in the psychology.

My advice, if you can't exercise some patience till next year ; go for Bsc mathematics (science dept) or Bsc English (art dept). Make sure it's pure mathematics or English. All those cut-and-join courses like industrial mathematics, economics and mathematics, statistics and mathematics, computer and mathematics, and lately mathematics and brewery. Same applies to English. AVOID THEM!! You will be like a bat after graduation : you don't belong to birds nor mammals.

I am a practicing medical laboratory scientist.
I was suggesting to my mum to allow my sister to study nursing instead of MLS. I didn't know MLS is such a good course. Please can you tell me where MLS students can work after graduation?

I'm about to attempt to persuade our men to subscribe to the feminist ideology. Sorry it's kinda lengthy

Assumptions: An already thriving economy

1. Reduced Malnutrition and Child-Hunger: When more mothers become salary earners, it is no surprise that kids tend to eat better. As a man, seeing your kids healthy and agile, especially when it causes less strain to your pocket should be a welcomed relief. You were once a kid, think of all the things your mother bought in periods she had more than enough. Unless your mum was deadbeat or abusive, the gain was shared by her and her kids and usually the gain was better food or cooking equipment.
You have a point. A family with a diversified source of income stands a better change at facing any economic emergency. But such shouldn't be actualized at the expense of very young children who still need their mother's care. There are very few career paths that doesn't compromise motherhood and render young children exposed to all kinds of vices. Mothers with very young children are adviced to choose self-employed generating income where they can control their time and manage their young children effectively. Stocks, part-time writer/ editors, online networking etc are some of the very few career paths that spare mothers the agony of abandoning their children. Mothers who abandoned their children in daycares and nannies are steadily on the rise. This has nothing to do with women empowerment. It is simply greed.
2. More Productivity: The idea that "women are worth less" begins from childhood but it begins to resonate with us as teenager( which by the way is one of the worst periods we face due to hormonal changes and insecurities attached) and as young adults we already believe that so, we act accordingly. In secondary school, a lot of us can attest to the fact that more often than not that more girls were top of the class. In the university however, we lose trail. If women are taught to be more confident in their abilities, we create a more productive economy.
Pointless!!! Learn to separate academic intelligence from real life application. They are two different ball games. You sound like a feminist already.
3. Shared responsibility: Believe it or not a lot of Nigerian women are not comfortable asking their significant order for money EVERY little thing. Some of you guys actually love and crave being the SOLE provider because of the power and control ( it gives) over someone else's life especially when they get a good enough pay. With equality, abusive partners lose that power as well...The power that keeps the woman silent in pain. Slowly but surely, men may never have to pay for wives because it sorta cheapens our worth especially when men literally take bride-prices to mean ownership.
Young lady, what's your creed? Are you Muslim or Christian? What is the custom of your people? Are you married? Do you hope to get married, traditionally and according to your faith? What then do your tradition and your faith teach you? To be loyal and submissive!!! So your seeking financial independence is but a leverage to do as you please even after taking matrimonial oaths to be loyal to your husband? A man's headship over you is spiritual and physical. You can be a billionaires, but your husband still has authority over you. Except he has lost touch with his GOD, he will bring you the most bitter misery any bloody feminist will live to regret!

My view that your are a feminist is getting stronger
4. Freedom of Expression: Some men would love to be as you are... Wear whatever (pink jeans), talk however (loud talkers who smack their lips) even in adult hood without being looked down on or referred to as a "woman" as though it is derogatory. Some men are natural CAREGIVERS who would be satisfied being a nurse, a cook or a stay-at-home parent but society would not let them be great. When women are equal, gender lines are blurred a bit and people are more likely to come around to accepting you for who you are.
I don't mind repeating myself. The same demon that is responsible for feminism is the same one responsible for homosexuality. "A sit-at-home-dad". While you be the MAN who be the breadwinner. Hahahaha!!! Gender identity crisis alert!!!!!!!!!!
5. Your daughters: As at now, it may be convenient for you to say "Men are superior" until your daughter pick up the equality struggle from where older women (and men alike) left off. It's time we make progress with this and that's if we want to eventually be a highly functional society that makes the best out of majority of her citizens both men and women.
No doubt your number 5 is a sick ideology you borrowed from the West. But let me remind you that all that the West enjoys today was the labour of a strong Patriarchal society where women knew their place. But today the West is in decline even though all the women are at work. Just as your mother's generation was happier and more fulfilled than your generation, when the coming generation picks up the feminist baton, a terrible fall awaits them.
6. End of Hypermasculinity: Most men would rather just be masculine rather than going through the trouble of proving that they are "MEN" over and over again. I know it can be exhaustive, trying to hold back tears when what you really feel like it is to cry and feel better afterwards. I know it is harder for some men to ask for help because of the EGO and hyper-masculinity urges. Some of our men would grow up thinking it is manly to frown and play less so your kids can respect you. Yeah..(:|) try FEAR! When they grow old, they tend to resent he father more often for the scars he caused them.

When I heard about the gender equality bill that was declined, my heart sunk but I needed to get the word across so we can know.

Oya add your two cents...or even add to the list.
Cheap blackmail. Save those tears of ignorance for you and your feminist folks. Men show affections differently from women. He is a symbol of authority and must act accordingly.

Men and women are two different and unique being with different gender roles. The idea to narrow or erase this difference is satanic in all its intention.
Feminism is the chief tool of satan, the prince of rebellion. And like him, they share the same fate.

What we want is for women to be given a chance to achieve their dreams esp. In the nation politics, the dominance of the menfolk is strong.
A women should be Nigeria vice president come 2019.
All the same, men are first in creation and woman was created from a man ribs, so submission is okay but submission should not be turned into slavery.
yeah. you are right. i agree on this one.
but some parts of the bill needa to be modified because of it will be unfair to the male folks

There are exceptions no doubt, hence I employed the use of the superlative adjective "more" indicating that there are lesser other factors.

"But my opinion on polygamy is simple: polygamy is simply more about satisfying an uncivilised sexual cravings than anything else. It is more of lust than any other thing."
so what is the solution to uncivilised sexual cravings and lust.

In the Western world, a working class single man IS allowed to adopt a child, as long as he can demonstrate satisfactorily that he has reasonable childcare in place for the child, whilst he is working. The childcare can come from a male or female.
