Jodera: I think you're getting me wrong. I did not say xhaka is what we need to become competitive again, but as a squad player. Both xhaka and guen are good as sub players, and in terms of who's better between the two, then it's clearly xhaka. Guen seeing first team shirt is due to sentiment not because he's good. Most people here acknowledged that Let this midfield of a thing slide what about our attackers. What's your view? |

kokaneprodigy: Reason is we sold a lot during Emery and bought less in terms of numbers and quality.
As it stands we are lean on player hence we need to do some retention. I don’t think we can afford to buy better quality in replacement of all those we want out. To accomplish such is to budget like 200M which I doubt this club will fork out. I dont care Lacazette, Mohammed E, Xhaka, Kola and Ozil leaving just to get a Good DM and a great 10. |

kokaneprodigy: Reason I said squad player and this choice is not about my love for Xhaka I’ve once advocated for his sale here but we just have to be realistic. I don’t know why Akinbahm is trying to make it a Guen argument which I’m done with.
If we are to go by the players y’all want out how many would be left and how much can we spend to replace them with better players in one window. You want Mustafi,Ozil,Laca,Xhaka,Guen,Luiz, Torreira all out in one window? I'm not of the opinion of letting mustafi go cause currently our defence is not as poor as media painted it. Our midfield need overhaul nd we can't let go of all of them at once cause it will affect the rhythm of the team... Lacazette in exchange of Partey is a nice deal. Grealish is an Epl experienced (it might be another) if Chelsea can't tie Willian down with a new contract I wouldn't mind we utilizing it to get him with a year contract to compete with Pepe cause Nelson is not ready to me... Saka also need someone to groom him at his position cause I hate seeing Auba operating from the flank. In summary, we need 2 good signing; a good DM nd a mobile 10 to displace Ozil and probably a Winger who could play both right nd left to compete with Saka nd Pepe... |

kokaneprodigy: Look if u have better ideas state it, don’t stop at just antagonising. My inputs are based on situation on ground which include funds and how I’ve seen some of these guys play. I’m being realistic here knowing how limited we are when it comes to spending and how inflated the market is today.
Realistically how many ‘A’ class midfielders can we get in one window. What I’m saying is we should go all out to get a 10 and a solid DM that can both walk into our starting line up which won’t come cheap. Ceb has the potential to rotate a number 10 position with the new guy if need be and the DM too. Torreira can partner the new DM while we retain Xhaka as a squad player.
There are lots of games to play, EFL, EPL, FA cup and the possibility of Europe, fatigue and injury will happen. Xhaka is not the best out there but times have shown that with right partnership he pulls his weight.
Just take a look at city’s bench. Pep was ruthless with the players he met nd shipped them out nd get the ones that suit his playing style. Klopp wasn't afraid to let go of his star players but make sure another potential signings was made with the funds realised from the sales... My point is why cant we do d same by letting not good enough out nd bring 2/3 in nd manage till next window. There are better players out there with cheap amount it's not necessary we go for media hype that would end up with side ways pass, cut & cut, dancing nd many more... |

Jodera: lol... I guess you're talking about pashun("passion" as they call it).
With all the attributes you mentioned, we saw how our team was getting decimated wen he was a regular 11 unlike now. With all his pashun, he hardly gives key passes, he slows down attack and draws fouls unnecessarily, thereby allowing opposition team to regroup, he's always out of position which mostly affects the team structure.
He's best as squad player presently, and arsenal ought not to have such a player as first team, wen he's not fabregas Guendozi starting ahead of Xhaka back then shows ow he's not good enough for Arsenal standard and even comparing him to Xhaka shows sth is seriously wrong in that midfield... Bro, sentiments apart is Xhaka a player we can rely on in that midfield to achieve our aim of competing for the league? In all honesty Xhaka seems to be the one who does this most slowing the attack he's only good with his long range pass and shot nd latter has been minimal for a while so tell me aside those two I listed what's he good at? Slow in making decision, cannot beat his nearest man, cant move ball except side ways pass in this modern day football... I watched Madrid match tonight Kross at age 30 did sth tonight if it was Xhaka in that position I'm sure he will drop a panick pass to Martinez which could lead to a goal. Xhaka will be good as a squad player, we can’t sell everybody as we also need a robust bench unlike what we have under Emery. Players will get injured from time to time.
Robust bench is one of the strengths of Manchester City. So, Xhaka is tantamount to be included among Robust bench. In all honesty our Midfield start to regress when Ozil and Xhaka set in unless you want to hide away from the truth. |

Play to his strength for God sake.
The entire attack from the left is damn dull and far from what a team looking for UCL football to look like.A proper LW threatening from that flank could have pinned them backm
Again take Saka out and there'll be Zero creativity in this team, and we'll have to rely on cut backs and cross from full backs like in the Emery days. Good point... |

BlueRayDick: We started well, but got undone with Nketiah's reckless challenge. I know the boy was just being passionate so he won't be getting knocks fron me for that.
1. I don't know if this is possible at age 31 for a professional footballer, but Auba needs to work on his ball control abilities. He has the speed, skill and drive to go toe-to-toe with most world class strikers, he just needs to work on that ball control. While we were under pressure and the ball was getting ballooned in the air, there were few instances Auba just needed to contest and win the ball in midfield and pass it on to oncoming players so we can either recycle possession or start an attack, but he just can't win any of those balls. I know he is heads and heels above Giroud when it comes to goal scoring ability, but Giroud would win those balls and have the game settled.
2. Arteta should learn to make the right substitutions. Willock was a wrong sub that shouldn't have happened. He posed little attacking threats and was practically a defensive liability towards the end of the match. Pepe coming in at that time would've been a better option because he will prevent the Leicester left back busy and prevent him from joining attack.
3. Nketiah needs to learn how to keep his head high. He shouldn't allow his spirit to dampen with the red card. Just keep.his head up when going into a challenge.
4. Martinez is really showing he can display Leno any day Leno decides to turn out woeful performance. I think this is good for the team.
5. No current Arsenal player brings what Saka brings to the team. The young talent is a gem that needs to be treasured and not over-used. I fear for Martinelli with the way Saka is owning both sides of the wings any day he's called upon. I hope the young Brazilian's development will not be restricted to cup games alone.
All in all, it was a nice game which we didn't win because we were unlucky. I hope Arteta can fully get it right next season having more quality additions to the team. Nice one from you especially that analysis on top Aubameyang case and Saka...

kokaneprodigy: I was never against transitioning him into the team. Afterall he featured in some games and even started some in his first season and I never complained.
Emery had scores to settle with some senior players for reasons best known to him in his second season and did that at the detriment of results which was highly unprofessional reason I started shouting. Yes they are scrappy but Willlock and Guen ain’t putting better performance at that moment neither were we getting good results with them yet Emery kept starting him. I had same ish with Wenger and Giroud relationship.
All I asked was for Emery give other partnerships a chance which he didn’t until he got sacked then things changed.
If Emery had stayed, forcing his methods and lineup we could be battling relegation today, after all we didn’t sign new midfielders in January Arteta still uses same squad Emery had at his disposal. Truly, Emere bleeped us up big time with his useless tactics of squad rotation and/or changing of tactics here and there and being a coach without a plan I'm still confused ow on earth he got those squad who could had 3 European titles nd came out to beat liverpool for 3-1 in 2015/2016 final nd still came out again to draw same Klopp in 2017/2018 season from 3 nil to 3-3 in Champions league shows how competent he's well, probably he came into Arsenal at the wrong time. To cut this argument short Emery has helped us share more light that we had a lot of dead woods in that squad who we needed to let go by all means and dont forget this Emere we are accusing left a squad being used by Arteta to execute his plan correctly... |

kokaneprodigy: This talent argument is generic at best, Wilshere had talents, Walcott had talent, Giroud had talent. The fact remains every footballer has talent whether such potential will turn up in future is speculative at best unless you are God u don’t know how he would peak, at 21 Elneny also had talents.
That’s how we endured with em Wilshere and Ramsey at the detriment of results. Wilshere even showed better signs at 21 las las what happened? Even the Ramsey that managed to blow hot at certain point then went to Juve is already a bench warmer there. When last did he start a game at Juve?
Guen from his countenance and what I read he said to Maupay sees himself as the finished product. Someone that will be pointing to his team mates while he is out of position and adding nothing significant is who will be humble to learn? Bro, if not for the mess we found ourselves nd those scrappy players on Galacticos wages players like Saka, Guendozi, Nketia and co shouldn't be starting Epl but Carling cups they are to be groomed into Epl to help their career better but reverse seems to be the case due to situation we are...
