Police on Monday night shot dead two suspected robbers in Kilimani area after they robbed a Nigerian national. The victim, Taiwo Gbenga, reported to Kileleshwa Police Station that he had been robbed by four armed men who sped off in a white saloon car registration number KCE 567 B.

He told the officers that he was walking along Makueni road, within Kileleshwa area, when he was accosted before being robbed of two mobile phones, iPhone X max, Samsung Galaxy S8, a wallet containing his bank cards, driving license, alien card, special pass clearance, a wedding ring valued at Sh25,000 and a wrist watch.

Police managed to recover the motor vehicle, a Toyota Axio registration number KCE 567 B, whose number plates did not match those on the windows and insurance sticker.

Also recovered were a shot gun, an imitation of a pistol, two mobile phones, a claw bar, four master keys and seven bunches of keys, a gunny bag and a wrist watch. The two bodies were taken to City morgue for identification.

A Nigerian woman named Linda Bello-Monerville lamented after her son David Bello-Monerville was stabbed to death in Barnet, London, last month - he was the fifth person killed in just six consecutive days.

But Linda's grief did not just start last month; the Nigerian mother earlier lost two other sons to gang violence. Six years ago, his 19-year-old brother Joseph Burke-Monerville was shot in a case of mistaken identity and no one was ever convicted for the killing. In 1994, the eldest brother Trevor Monerville was 26 when he was stabbed to death in London. Again, no one has ever been convicted for his death.

Linda who sobbed so much beside her husband had to be given a box of tissues by the presenter Kate Garraway. Her husband who spoke for the most part told Good Morning Britian this: "I have to hold onto what is left of my family."

When Linda found her voice, she had this to say: "We don't want them to be counted in the statistics of gun culture, we just want them to have a good education. I just want justice. Justice has not been done for Joseph, justice has not been done for Trevor."

Runi Khatun, 22, was rushed to hospital ‘weak and emaciated’ on July 16 after she had started to vomit following every meal.

Baffled doctors in West Bengal, India, discovered the young woman had a hoard of items inside here after a scan – including 69 chains, 80 earrings, 46 coins, eight lockets, 11 nose rings, five anklets and one watch dial.

According to Runi’s mother, gold items and ornaments had recently started to vanish from the family home.

The mum said she had no idea her daughter had been swallowing the items. She also said the coins consumed were likely to have come from her brother’s shop. She said when Khatun was confronted about the missing items, she would cry – but never revealed they had been swallowed. Her family said: “We noticed that the ornaments were disappearing. But whenever we questioned her, she started crying and revealed nothing.”

The woman’s mother added: “Despite keeping an eye on her, she somehow managed to swallow all these objects. She was not well for the past two months.

The Nigerian flag was recently hoisted by an American multinational company, Stericycle Inc., in honour of a hardworking new employee, Mrs Omolanke Shelle. NAN reports that 38-year-old Shelle, an indigene of Ekiti State, works at the company’s facility in Aurora, Illinois. .

This came barely a month after Stericycle gave the mother of three a full-time job, following the expiration of her temporary employment that lasted for about five months. Her supervisor, Mr John Katchka, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that Shelle was honoured on account of her “attitude, work ethic, ability to learn and team spirit’’.

Shelle said that she started working with Stericycle through a temporary employment agency when she moved to the U.S. with her family in 2015. “When we came to the U.S., I had to work to assist my husband with the bills; besides I want to return to school, so I need money.

As a temporary staff, I was supposed to work for eight and half hours from 7 a.m. to 3.30 p.m., but I begged them for overtime, which they granted. Saw me working for 12 hours (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) on week days and six hours most Saturdays, and I was being paid about $11 per hour,’’ she said. Men of the Edo State Police Command have killed four teenage armed robbers who stole a Toyota Venza at gunpoint. The robbers were killed after engaging the police in a shootout.

Police sources said the robbers had snatched the Venza car along Etete road GRA. Owner of the car was said to have quickly informed the police and the robbers were tracked to Country Home Hotel Road. After the shootout, two of the robbers were shot dead while others who sustained injuries later died.Residents in the area who had earlier scampered for safety rushed out to see bodies of the robbers.

One of the robbers, who stated he was 18 years old, said they were taking the car to Lagos State for sale. Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Abubakar, who confirmed the incident said it showed the police in Edo are top of it game.

He said kidnappers along the Benin-Lagos highway would soon be apprehended.
