Samson1851: The Tecno Pova is surely a power packed smartphone thanks to its powerful Helio G80 Processor and large 6000mah battery size with the 18W Dual IC Flash Charging… But the Tecno Pova still has some deal breakers like its lower 720p HD+ resolution, its lower 13 or 16 MP rear camera and its micro USB charging port. The Tecno Pova 2 will be a lot better than the Pova. Kindly watch to find out why...
IamDavid: I'm planning to get a phone for my mum soon but I'm on a very tight budget. (60k). As much as I don't like transsions, it's my mum's familiar brand and more so they have affordable options.
I had an offer to buy spark 5 pro 4gb 128gb for 62k but I was discouraged by the processor(helio a25 or so), especially when I saw that spark 6 will come with helio g70.
Does anyone know if and when the phone will be available in the Nigerian market? Or I should just go with the 5 pro?
If you love the Mediatek Helio G70 or 80 processor, you can go for Infinix Note 7 or Infinix Note 8 etc. Tecno Camon 16 Pro is also a good option and even Tecno Pova is good enough.
Oppo A93 is amazing and has really good performance. With its Helio P95 processor, even the camera and the battery section are quite good. Great appearance as well.
3zaza3: The Nokia 3.4 was recently announced alongside the Nokia 2.4 and 8.3. It is a reasonably priced device currently retailing for around N65,000. It runs on Snapdragon 460 processor with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It has a similar design pattern to the Nokia 8.3 and 5.3 but uses a left hole punch cutout for the selfie camera. Marvel6233: Let's end this debate once and for all. TECNO POVA vs Xiaomi Redmi 9 Speed Test & RAM Management Comparison.
Both smartphones are powered by mediaTek Helio G80 Chip. However, the Tecno POVA has 6GB RAM while Redmi 9 has 4GB RAM. But I guess that shouldn't be an issue. After all, they compare iPhone 12 4GB RAM vs Samsung Galaxy with 8/12GB RAM. Watch below
Are you #TeamTecno or #TeamXiaomi? Represent your brand below and tell me what other comparison you want me to bring
Mediatek Helio G80 chipset might be same in both the devices but while Tecno has an edge in battery, Redmi has a better display. So it all depends on the users.
grandee4u: Mine is Infinix Note 8i, it was officially launched recently. The Phone is dope anyways.
Oh yeah, this is awesome. The MediaTek Helio gaming processor works so well and even the smart camera section is one of the best features in the smartphone.
atheistandproud: Qualcomm and Mediatek are cut throat competitors in the midrange market. When the Helio G90T was released to great fanfare in 2019, Snapdragon soon replied with the SD720G in Jan 2020 which became an instant hit. Mediatek fired back the next month with the Helio P95.
The SD720G can be found on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S and 9Pro while the Helio P95 powers the all new Oppo A93. Intending buyers may be wondering, which phone is the better phone in terms of performance, gaming, heating, app switching/multitasking, battery conservation, network and connectivity etc. A lot of the aforementioned are dependent on the SoCs used. So without wasting further time, lets look at SD720G vs Helio P95.
Note: This is an SoC comparison alone.
Microarchitecture
The SD720G is an octacore SoC with a 2+6 big.LITTLE arrangement of 2 Kryo 465 Gold (A76) cores running at 2.3GHz and 6 Kryo 465 Silver (A55) cores clocked at 1.8GHz. The Helio P95 is also an octacore SoC with the same 2+6 big.LITTLE of 2 cortex A75 (2.2GHz) and 6 cortex A55 (2.0GHz). The SD720G has the better “big” cores and would handle heavy tasks and apps better. The P95 on the other hand may seem faster because it has faster “small” cores for normal light tasks such as watching movies slightly better. Point goes to the SD720G.
Instruction Set Architecture
They are both built on the ARMv8.2-A ISA so this is a tie.
Size
The transistors on the SD720G are 8nm while those on the Helio P95 are 12nm. This means that the SD720G will be cooler, heat less, be more efficient and conserve battery better than the Helio P95.
GPU
The SD720G comes with the Adreno 618 GPU which is much better than the PowerVR GM9446 on the Helio P95. The Adreno 618 together with the CPU cores on the SD720G will handle games better and faster than the Helio P95.
RAM
Both the SD720G and the Helio P95 come with LPDDR4X RAM modules but the SD720G has the faster RAM which is clocked at 2133MHz as compare to the 1866MHz on the P95. This means that multitasking and app switching as well as loading times will be faster on the SD720G.
Storage
The SD720G and the P95 both use UFS 2.1 storage option. In addition, the P95 supports eMMC 5.1. So point goes to the P95 for having more storage options.
ISP
SD720G come with Spectra 350L on board as well as Hexagon DSP 692 for AI and machine learning. Mediatek on the other hand did not name their ISP but they did say that there is APU 2.0 on board. APU stands for AI Processing Unit. This means that SD720G supports maximum camera resolutions of up to 192MP. The P95 on the other hand maxes out at 64MP. They both record 4K video at 30fps but while SD720G can play 4K video back at 30fps, the P95 can do it at 60fps. SD720G may not be able to playback 4K video at 30fps but it has the better ISP so it takes this point.
Maximum Display Resolution
Both can display video at a resolution of 2520 x 1080p. It is a tie here.
Modem and connectivity
The SD720G has onboard an X15 modem which has uplink speeds of 150Mbps and downlink speeds of 800Mbps. The P95 has a generic cat.12 modem with uplink speeds of 150Mbps and downlink speeds of 600Mbps. Both SoCs have WiFi 5 but the SD720G steps ahead with a Bluetooth 5.1 while the P95 uses the version 5.0.
Benchmarks
On GeekBench, the SD720G has scores of 574 (single core) and 1719 (multi core). The P95 stays behind with scores of 399 (single core) and 1507 (multi core). With the addition of GPU test scores on Antutu, the gap between both SoCS is widened further to 281040 (SD720G) and 211053 (P95). SD720G is the clear winner in terms of performance.
Age
Both SoCs were released this year with the SD720G being announced in January and the P95 showing up in February.
Final say
SD720G is better. No contest.
Redmi Note 9S is sold for around 95k for the 6/64GB model while the Redmi Note 9Pro is sold for 112k for the 6/128GB model.
atheistandproud: Mediatek’s Helio G90T made it’s debut in the Redmi Note 8 Pro and it has been a revelation. Other companies such as Realme and Infinix have also adopted it. Today I would like to compare it to Apple’s A10 Fusion which can be found on iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 plus.
Microarchitecture
The Helio G90T is an octacore SoC with 2 A76 cores running at 2.05GHz and 6 A55 cores running at 2.0GHz. The A10 on the other hand is a quad core SoC with 2 Hurricane and 2 Zephyr cores with clockspeeds of 2.34Ghz and 2.0GHz respectively. The A10 has the better CPU cores.
Instruction Set Architecture
The G90T is built on the newer ARMv8.2-A while the A10 was built on the older ARMv8-A.
Size
The G90T is built on a 12nm die while the A10 is built on the bigger and older 16nm. The G90T would be cooler and more efficient.
GPU
The G90T uses the Mali G76 MC4 GPU which is better than the PowerVR GT7600 on the A10.
RAM
The G90T uses the newer LPDDR4x which runs at a blazing 2133MHz while the A10 uses the older LPDDR4.
Storage
The G90T uses eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1 while the A10 uses the NVMe. The A10 has the better and faster storage option.
ISP
The ISPs used on both the G90T and the A10 are not specifically named. The A10 can only handle 32MP of camera resolution while the G90T can deal with 64MP easily. For video recording, the A10 records 4K video at 60fps while the G90T can also record 4K video but at a slower 30fps. The A10 plays back 4K video at a smooth 60fps while the G90T does it at a slower 30fps. Point goes to the A10.
Connectivity
The A10 uses a Qualcomm MDM9645M cat.12 modem. The G90T also uses a generic cat.12 modem as well. Both of them have uplink speeds of 150Mbps and downlink speeds of 600Mbps. They both have Wi-Fi 5 but the G90T has a better Bluetooth 5.0 while the A10 uses Bluetooth 4.2. Point goes to the G90T.
Benchmarks
On Geekbench, the G90T posts scores of 495 (single core) and 1608 (multicore). The A10 has a better single core score (773) but falls short in multicore scores (1406). On Antutu, the G90T beats the A10 with scores of 278,803 to 248,639.
Date
The A10 Fusion is four years old (Sept, 2016), while the G90T is just a year old (July, 2019).
Final say
It speaks a lot about the longevity of the A10 that it can still go toe to toe with a current giant of the midrange market in 2020. If you are a video enthusiast, you should pick the A10 over the G90T. 4K video at 60fps is no joke at all. At the end of the day however, the G90T is the better SoC all round with the exception of video recording of course. What SoCs would you like us to compare next? All contributions are welcome.
