BusinessRe: Do People Still Go To Banks??? by akuneme(m): 10:01am On Jul 21, 2025
These days people mostly visit banks only to lay complaints.

Also, Fintech apps like Opay are teaching traditional banks that complaints can be handled online, more banks will adapt; Sterling Bank now has an AI that customers can ask questions and get answers immediately.

When more banks perfect how they handle customers issues online, the number of people going to Banks will reduce again.
BusinessRe: Which Business Can I Do In ABA With 200k by akuneme(m): 9:50am On Jul 21, 2025
There are many factors to consider.

How long can you wait before you see returns?

Do you already have skills in a particular niche?

What's your risk tolerance?

========

According to the GrowthPal blog (a business blog in Nigeria), you can start the following businesses in Abia State with ₦200,000

School Bag making
Belt making
Male underwear brand
Cloth making
Production of Male shoes

Note: There are people already skilled in the production of these items, all you need to do is to show them the design you want and they will produce it.

With 200k, you can produce a small quantity and start selling online.

If you want to get your hands dirty, check out the following businesses;

Beekeeping (for honey production)
Goat farming
Palm oil storage (requires more capital)
BusinessRe: Man Asks, Why Do Chinese Prosper In Africa Faster Than Locals by akuneme(m):
It's not just the Chinese. The Asians in general. The Asians are hard workers, they are smart and they have technical skills.

When they come here, they invest in businesses that the locals avoid.

The Asians also have access to funds and support from their home country.

Ganjafama:
She buy and sell fairly used bags (Okrika). I reside in Delta State.
If your wife has a shop/outlet in a busy area, you can get her a POS device to complement her Okrika business.

She needs to make about 15 transactions or less daily to make ₦2,000 profit. That's ₦52,000 Naira extra income to the family if she works 6 days a week.

For her Okrika business, if she's not online already, let her bring her business online. She can take a picture of her bags and post it on Facebook marketplace and Jiji; both platforms are free to use.

Why I'm taking more time talking about your wife's business is because she's already in business.

For you, starting a new business should be on something you are knowledgeable about or have interests in. You can check this article on 12 businesses you can start

BusinessRe: What Is Needed To Take Loans In Nigerian Banks by akuneme(m): 5:46pm On Feb 20, 2025
yungrylex00:
Please, what is needed to be able to take a loan of about 2m to 5m successfully in any Nigerian bank

I'm looking to start a business and the capital has been hard to come by
Valid suggestions will be much appreciated
huh🙏🏽

Thank you all
Banks will not give you a loan to start a new business if you do not have a track record.

Also, taking a loan (usually high interests) to start a new business is not really a good idea.

If you can, think of a way you can start that same business with the most minimal resources available to you.

PhonesRe: The Phone Charging Mistakes That Are Killing Your Battery –And How To Avoid Them by akuneme(m):
Thanks for sharing.

To also make your battery last longer after charging, here's what works for me;

1. Connect only one Email account. Multiple emails make your phone to sync repeatedly. This drains your battery faster.

2. Use a portable WiFi. Instead of using my phone mobile network, connecting to a portable WiFi helps my battery last longer.

3. Use 1 SIM.

Auxtan:
I have been planning on starting cement selling at my rented store since last year but wasn't really ready due to not having the full funds, surprisingly someone else rented the store next to mine and started selling cement this year when I am almost ready, what I am confused now is if to proceed with my plans of selling cement or just look away?
Since you have the experience or knowledge of selling cements, you have gotten a shop already and have the funds to start, I suggest you go ahead with stocking your shop and starting the business.

When you go to Idumota or Oshodi market, you see people selling the same thing side-by-side.

Don't forget to promote your business online to build your customer base faster.
BusinessRe: Help: Verification Of Residence For Bank Account Upgrade by akuneme(m): 4:29pm On Feb 20, 2025
Pay your electricity bill with Buypower .ng

You can pay as small as ₦200 just to get a receipt. The receipt will contain your address.

You can then use that receipt to upgrade your account.

PoliticsRe: ‘Regulate Crypto Trading Platforms’, IMF Urges Nigeria by akuneme(m): 6:59am On May 11, 2024
Crypto is the least of Nigeria's problem.

Start with fixing insecurity. Let farmers go back to their farms.

Stop crude oil theft.

Reduce the so many hurdles it takes to export goods out of Nigeria.

Build more ports in other states in the country.

That's foolishness..what if they are correct... then u go and have a hard time ? You have to consider risks as an adult!!
What if.

That means he could be wrong. I would listen to more people in the UK and then weigh my options.

Also, insecurity in the UK is almost Zero.

As a freelancer who resides in the UK, I get better chances to get hired by businesses in Europe and the US.

Anyhow you want to look at it, there are advantages.

BusinessRe: What Is The Best Virtual Card To Use For Online? by akuneme(m): 8:10pm On May 03, 2024
The best decision I took was to open the Access Bank domiciliary account. I already had GTB, but I think GTB charges users to send $ to other GTBank users while it's free with Access Bank.

If I need $, I send Naira to my BDC guy and he transfers dollar to me. I buy at the exact black market rate.

If you can, it's far better than virtual cards.
BusinessRe: OPay Warns Customers Against Cryptocurrency And Virtual Currency Trading by akuneme(m): 7:21pm On May 03, 2024
Too much heat from the CBN.

It is almost not possible to track which payment is a crypto payment unless it is stated.

Opay is just telling its users to use their sense.
