Nairaland GeneralSee The Creativity Of The Human Mind by akunsk(op): 6:32pm On Sep 20, 2021
I discovered already as a child that through patience and exact observation I could learn to draw whatever I saw. And since I always had a very strong sense about what I found beautiful or interesting I also learned to distinguish quit quickly between my successful or unsuccessful artworks.

Later on I, unfortunately, lost this ingenuous attitude towards my own creations and became very critical, not only of my ideas, but also of their execution. It came to the point where I even stopped making art for long periods of time because I could not handle the disappointment that I felt if something didn’t meet my self-proclaimed standards.

I assume that most artists know these phases of doubt and creative block. It is important to remember that they will pass. No need to force anything, the creative flow will come again on its own terms and in the right time. At least that is my experience.

BusinessThe Best Business Advice From The Movie Wonder Wonman by akunsk(op): 9:22am On Feb 08, 2021
Business lessons can be insightful. They trigger your creativity and enhance your financial expertise. today on Business spotlight, we would be considering business lessons from Diana in DC’ Wonder Woman. If you’re a Marvel or Detective Comics fan or you’re not into movies/comics at all, you may have heard of Wonder Woman. However, you’ve not seen or heard of her, I’ll do a brief introduction.

Wonder Woman is a fictional superheroine popularly seen in American comics published by DC. She started her journey as an Amazon princess by the name, Diana, who was in training to become a warrior. This life she knew was cut short when a pilot crashed into their world and told them of the conflict in the outside world. She leaves home without completing her training to fight a war where she discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Here are business lessons from Diana in the movie, “Wonder Woman”

Reinvent yourself when necessary
I’ve almost never seen anyone reinvent themselves as much as Wonder Woman. When she lost her superpowers, she became an entrepreneur, astronaut, babysitter, spy, and model until she got her powers back. She found what worked for her and birthed a new version of herself not minding her current situation. The importance of reinventing your business cannot be over-emphasized. The best way to ensure long-term survival and success is to continuously work on reinventing your business. Now more than ever, businesses need to be reinvented, thanks or no thanks to the global pandemic.

Turn weaknesses into strengths
Wonder Woman wears indestructible bracelets on both wrists. These bracelets were however designed initially by Hercules to keep the Amazon women in captivity and reign in the powers they possessed. The women still wore their bracelets after they gained freedom. If these were removed, the legend reveals that they would go wild with fury. There’s no point denying that your weaknesses exist. The first to the success of any form is identifying your weaknesses and turning them into strengths. Being an entrepreneur is hard. However, not every weakness needs to be a threat.

I know the headline might shock some of my conservative readers but let's be honest, we all have sex or we all want to have sex. There is a reason that the porn industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. Sex sells.

Now that we have gotten that out of the way let me start by saying New Year’s resolutions suck. To be honest you are setting yourself for failure — it takes more than a resolution or a new calendar to have a complete lifestyle change-up. (Save for the small number of motivated individuals out there like ”Emmanuel”, who are probably overachievers anyway.) He is by the way.

For as long as I became an adult, my resolutions have been the same: eat okpa and coke and watch movies, watch every Match that Chelsea loses and work out. I’m the one you see in the gym on January 1, going hard on the treadmill, protein milkshake in hand.

Just don’t count on spotting me within 100 feet of any gaming center after the first two weeks. I’ll start the year strong with homemade smoothies and an expensive meal plan service, but by Valentine’s Day, I’m back to Mamaput (takeout).

These resolutions are well-intentioned, but the issue is that the practice isn’t really enjoyable — and the ultimate goal ( summer body) is so far in the future that you won’t get that positive feedback immediately.

In other words, it takes the strength of Thanos and Hulk combined to stick to whatever goal you gave yourself as a resolution. Given that, wouldn’t we be better off focusing on something that will improve our lives instantly, is fun and you can also make money off( Only Fans).
So let’s make New Year’s resolutions sexy in 2021.

The way we approached sex during this pandemic took me back to our earliest fumbling attempts to make magic happen. I remember my first time though for you guys to hear that story, you have to beat it out of me.

One of my biggest dilemmas then was if this was the right time or moment? Is this safe? Am I too exhausted? Does my partner want to? (It was a one-night stand).

Change is coming in 2021, but even before we start opening up the world again, we’ve got plenty of time to overhaul our shutdown sex lives or the mediocre sex we have been subjecting our partners to.

You must talk about sex!
This is better done on the day or night you know that coitus won't happen

Christianity EtcThe Real Reason Marriage In Nigeria Fails by akunsk(op): 8:10am On Dec 29, 2020
I daresay that there are almost no more controversial topic and dreaded institution under the sun than the marriage institution. Yet, it is the most wistfully desired and loved milestone that everyone wishes they could achieve. Well, maybe almost everyone. Personal experience and witnessed experience have rendered many people cautious, leery of, and bitter about the marriage institution.

They have nothing to say about it but evil. And if they eventually get married, the person who marries them will suffer badly from their prejudice against the institution. Some of them keep on procrastinating anything that pertains to marriage for as long as they feel they can, while others swear off the marriage institution completely.

From having carefully studied so many marriages over the years, I observed that for every marriage that weathered the storms that every marriage must pass through, we have situations where both parties TRULY WANT to be together! I found that it is easier then, to forgive, mend fences, swallow offenses, persevere, and hold on tight to the person you are married to, despite any real or imagined offense.

Marriage can never work out when its success is left to the woman or the man alone. Then there is no relationship or marriage at all! In most marriages that fail, either one person is being inconsiderate, selfish, wicked, or narcissistic while the other party is making all the sacrifices, or both parties are not willing to be together again for whatever reason.

LiteratureMy Journey With Being An Introvert In Nigeria by akunsk(op): 8:03am On Dec 29, 2020
I started working at my first-ever office job in March 2019. In my first week, I would go into the office for three days and work from home for two.

I loved the thrill of working in an office in Abuja, mostly because it was the Nigerian definition of success and of being a true adult after college. My co workers, before my arrival, were very close friends with one another, and I enjoyed the freedom and civility that hung in the air.

Unfortunately, I don't think I ever truly made my way into that group of friends (I'm talking best-friends-outside-of-work level friends) for some reasons. I believe that the most prominent reason is that they all shared common interests that I could not have cared less about.

For example, one of my co-workers, Ben's favourite topics to talk about were marriage and religion. This isn't necessarily a friendship-ender for me, but I wasn't about to pretend that God or marriage isn't scary just to fit in. I also wasn't about to ruin the mood by going off on a tirade about how our generation's notion of marriage is naive, or the way God is being misconstrued by pastors.

So, for most conversations, I would just sit quietly (or put in headphones to drown out the insanity).

At the same time, I felt that I still liked and enjoyed the vibe with these people and didn't want to pass up the opportunity to make friends. But how do I do that? For most of their conversations about Religion, marriage, and beauty, I didn't have anything to add. And when I did, I didn't want to seem over-eager to insert myself into a conversation that I was not invited to. (This was most of them.) I ended up attending a handful of happy hours and lunches, but it was mostly because I felt that I couldn't complain about not making friends if I didn't at least try.

Then in March 2020-actually, on the exact day that I was hired as a full-time employee after being a freelancer-we all switched to working from home.

Our jobs have all been fully remote since, and I haven't seen any of the aforementioned people. Outside of work-related conversations, I haven't seen or talked to any of them. When my boss asked me if I'm glad I'm working from home, I've mostly wanted to say that I'm just happy to not have to listen to my colleague's inane conversations anymore but I said it's fine.

CelebritiesRe: Marlians Cult: The Mother Should Be Blamed For Poor Upbringing, Not Naira Marley by akunsk(m): 2:59pm On Jan 14, 2020
Marlians, Are They Cultist?

Marlians! I guess you must have heard of the movement, but what I can assure you is that you haven’t heard of the Marlian cult.

Who is a Marlian?
This is recent youthful movement gaining ground across Nigeria. According to the urban dictionary, A Marlian is any real follower of the controversial Nigerian singer, Naira Marley. On the surface, this definition seems to cover what it is to be a Marlian but doesn’t cut it for true Marlians. A Marlian is a Naira Marley Stan — It is often said that a true Marlian follow and obey the lifestyle and tenets of Naira Marley.

So who is this Marley? Well we know who Bob Marley is…He is the Original Marley. He was a Jamaican raised singer and songwriter born on (6 February 1945-11 May 1981). Bob Marley was a fighter and a lover of freedom. He joined the Rastafarian movement which emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s. Rastafari, also known as Rastafarianism, is an Abrahamic religion that developed in Jamaica during the 1930s. It is classified as both a new religious movement and a social movement by scholars of religion. Bob Marley joined the movement in regards to using “wisdom...

kiyosaki1:
I read: My Daughter Is In Marlians Cult And She Doesn't Wear Pant To School - Mother Cries Out https://www.nairaland.com/5627708/marlians-cult-daughter-doesnt-wear with dismay various comments and solidarity given to the fail mother, who failed in her parenting duty, ascribing the failure in her duty as a mother to the influence of Naira Marely. The same way our politicians ascribe the failure in the governance to past administration. We can all see where she picked up her bulk passing behaviour.

There are many ills in our society that are going on, and which the children can easily pick up from the social media, the various cable TV, the peer group and so forth, brimming with ills.

These teenagers have access to them and can influence them when making choices, but it's the duty of parents to teach their wards what norms and values expected of them.

In the western world that's even worse, we had kids that are well behave and are not influenced by the ill of the society. So for a mother to come out to ascribe her child's negative behaviour to a person or celebrity is exposing to the whole world her failure in her duty. I expected her to be reprimanded and not the icon.

The last time I checked, Nigeria is still a free society, and not a sharia governed society, and for those reprimanding the Marlians, may be we should call for a full blown sharia in all state in the country, so our kids can be well behaved so much for the moral police bunch of hypocrites.
