On the vw i can tell u a thing or 2, i need below information:

Engine type - 2.0 lor 1.8l or 2.5l
Area - wolfburg or american( u can get this from the headlight when ignition is on)
Trim- Normal or CC

Its very reliable, but if u listen to our supposed car professors here who are rigged to only hype toyota brand, then sorry for u, Jetta observe in Nigeria market mainly come 2 engine type, 1.6l inline 4- very fuel efficient for day to day movement, 2.5l VR5 5cyclinder- 1 of the most reliable VW engine till date, its pratically indestructible. Spares wise, VW builds cars over generation, so parts are interchangable, the coil pack for audi a3, passat, jetta are the same for years 2005 to 2009. That also means the parts are cheap compared to an average toyota, which are 1 off
Mechanic wise, they are almost everywhere now, not like 2014, when they are few,
And if the cars are not cheap and reliable to maintain, y are almost 70% of transport vehicle in lagos vw vanagon and LT?,

I thought this car saves fuel with their 2.0 engine..

I m planning on switching to VW based on their that's usually below 2.0
Any insight?

Go for the vw jetta 1.6l engine, polo 1.4 tsi( very expensive) na u go beg ur fuel to finish],or a touran with 1.4l engine.
This cars a more fuel efficient than ur average Toyota, but are misunderstood by many because of lack of technical knowledge by our mechanics

What is your take on the golf 4 sir? Is it good for bolt?

Golf 4 is good for uber especially if the engine is 1.6l or 1.4l. It's a durable car and parts a cheap 2.
Most guys get there car maintenance advice from quacks. For example before starting my car every morning I check my oil level, d reason I do this is if I have a damage sump during my journey the previous day, I will be aware of the issue before starting the engine. Once I noticed a low level I instantly know something is wrong. This advice alone has save 3 of my guy engine. The advice look simple but how many car owners follow it.

2005-2008, all Jetta from 2005 to 2010 use parts interchangeably, they look almost alike, the difference are in the infotainment, climate control, and engine configuration.

Get a Jetta, 1.6l has fuel efficiency than a Corolla, but in term of ruggedness, the jetta 2.5l engine is ur best bet. Maintenance wise part are relatively cheap, and no need to change suspension parts now and then, talking from experience

If other technician are a truthful as u are, then those given vw a bad name will have a rethink.

To every prospective vw buyer out there, go ahead and don't let any kazeem convince otherwise cos vw is one of d best I ever driven.
