In a brief conversation, a man asked a woman he was pursuing the question: "What kind of man are you looking for?"

She sat quietly for a moment before looking him in the eye & asking, "Do you really want to know?"

Reluctantly, he said, "Yes."

She began to expound:
"As a woman in this day & age, I am in a position to ask a man what can you do for me that I can't do for myself?
I pay my own bills. I take care of my household without the help of any man.... or woman for that matter.
I am in the position to ask, "What can you bring to the table?"

The man looked at her. Clearly he thought that she was referring to money.

She quickly corrected his thought & stated, "I am not referring to money. I need something more."
"I need a man who is striving for excellence in every aspect of life."

He sat back in his chair, folded his arms, & asked her to explain.

She said:
"I need someone who is striving for excellence mentally because I need conversation & mental stimulation. I don't need a simple-minded man.

I need someone who is striving for excellence spiritually because I don't need to be unequally yoked...believers mixed with unbelievers is a recipe for disaster.

I need a man who is striving for excellence financially because I don't need a financial burden.

I need someone who is sensitive enough to understand what I go through as a woman, but strong enough to keep me grounded.

I need someone who has integrity in dealing with relationships. Lies and game playing are not my idea of a strong man.

I need a man who is family-oriented. One who can be the leader, priest and provider to the lives entrusted to him by God.

I need someone whom I can respect. In order to be submissive, I must respect him.

I cannot be submissive to a man who isn't taking care of his business.

I have no problem being submissive...he just has to be worthy.

And by the way, I am not looking for him...He will find me. He will recognize himself in me. He may not be able to explain the connection, but he will always be drawn to me. God made woman to be a helpmate for man. I can't help a man if he can't help himself."

When she finished her spill, she looked at him.

He sat there with a puzzled look on his face.
He said, "You are asking a lot."

She replied, "I'm worth a lot."

Wow, I'm impressed with the extent you took it, I believe the little things matter. Pronunciation might seem insignificant and that might be true but it is one of those little things that matter.

I like your zeal bro, we should all measure ourselves like you and consciously work towards improving our pronunciation.

It takes guts to score one's self low in public the way you did. Dissatisfaction comes before improvement. People like you make progress bro!

There is this word I was sure I couldn't pronounce correctly when I read the poem. It is "victual" transcribed as \ˈvi-təl\. It is sounds more like "vital" and that got me scratching my head.

Anyone can read but not everyone can pronunce words correctly.

Education / If You Can Pronounce This Whole Poem, You Speak English Better Than 90% Of Us by alexasomba(m): 10:12pm On Jul 04, 2015
The poem below is a condensed version of 'The Chaos' by Gerard Nolst Trenité , written in 1922.
It features a ridiculous number of words that are difficult to pronounce, so don't feel bad if you have to refer to a dictionary. I certainly did!

If you fancy yourself something of a professional linguist, then this challenge is for you. English is notoriously difficult to learn, as the language has so many exceptions to the rules. Even for a native English speaker, this poem presents quite a few challenges! Check it out and see how you fare. If you can pronounce all of the words, you speak English better than 90% of the population.

Here we go!

Dearest creature in creation,
Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.
I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I! Oh hear my prayer.

Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written.)
Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.
But be careful how you speak:
Say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe.

Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
Exiles, similes, and reviles;
Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
Solar, mica, war and far;
One, anemone, Balmoral,
Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
Scene, Melpomene, mankind.

Billet does not rhyme with ballet,
Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.
Viscous, viscount, load and broad,
Toward, to forward, to reward.
And your pronunciation's OK
When you correctly say croquet,
Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive and live.

Ivy, privy, famous; clamour
And enamour rhyme with hammer.
River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and roll and some and home.
Stranger does not rhyme with anger,
Neither does devour with clangour.
Souls but foul, haunt but aunt,
Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,
And then singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,
Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.

Query does not rhyme with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth.
Job, nob, bosom, transom, oath.
Though the differences seem little,
We say actual but victual.
Refer does not rhyme with deafer.
Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer.
Mint, pint, senate and sedate;
Dull, bull, and George ate late.
Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
Science, conscience, scientific.

Liberty, library, heave and heaven,
Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven.
We say hallowed, but allowed,
People, leopard, towed, but vowed.
Mark the differences, moreover,
Between mover, cover, clover;
Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
Chalice, but police and lice;
Camel, constable, unstable,
Principle, disciple, label.

Petal, panel, and canal,
Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal.
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair,
Senator, spectator, mayor.
Tour, but our and succour, four.
Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
Sea, idea, Korea, area,
Psalm, Maria, but malaria.
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean.
Doctrine, turpentine, marine.

Compare alien with Italian,
Dandelion and battalion.
Sally with ally, yea, ye,
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.
Say aver, but ever, fever,
Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.
Heron, granary, canary.
Crevice and device and aerie.

Face, but preface, not efface.
Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging,
Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging.
Ear, but earn and wear and tear
Do not rhyme with here but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen,
Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk,
Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.

Pronunciation -- think of Psyche!
Is a paling stout and spikey?
Won't it make you lose your wits,
Writing groats and saying grits?
It's a dark abyss or tunnel:
Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,
Islington and Isle of Wight,
Housewife, verdict and indict.

Finally, which rhymes with enough --
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advice is to give up!!!

But jesus said more than 80 times in Bible that he's a servant.. And people should not worship him

Besides, if jesus is God, he won't have leave town for the Jews that want to harm him, and also jesus said he can't do anything without his father...

....

If you could please help me with references to the passages in scripture you are referring to it will be of great help to me.

I found this though, an example of Jesus being worshipped and He was asked by the teachers and scholars to tell the people to stop their blasphemy, His response is not as you described:

Luke 19
37 When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
38 "Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
39 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!"
40 "I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."

That was Jesus saying if they stopped worshipping God (Him) the inanimate things will worship God in their place. (Read Psalm 19 for clarification)

The lesson Jesus thought us here is that God will not force anyone to worship him... that other works of His hands even worship Him, He is okay with us making the decision to do so on our own.

alexasomba:

Let's take for example Jesus’ words in John 10:30 , “I and the Father are one.” We need only to look at the Jews’ reaction to His statement to know He was claiming to be God. They tried to stone Him for this very reason: “You, a mere man, claim to be God” (John 10:33). The Jews understood exactly what Jesus was claiming—deity. When Jesus declared, “I and the Father are one,” He was saying that He and the Father are of one nature and essence.

John 8:58 is another example. Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth … before Abraham was born, I am!” Jews who heard this statement responded by taking up stones to kill Him for blasphemy, as the Mosaic Law commanded (Leviticus 24:16).

John reiterates the concept of Jesus’ deity: “The Word [Jesus] was God” and “the Word became flesh” (John 1:1 , 14). These verses clearly indicate that Jesus is God in the flesh...

That is true, Jesus can not do anything without the Father because they are one. Apparently it is impossible to do something without yourself.

So you accept jesus is not God abi

If he's not God, what is he?

Bro I actually believe the opposite: "Jesus is God!"

Jesus Christ ‘though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.’ (Philippians 2:6-8 )

All this He did so whosoever believes will not perish but have everlasting life.

shahydbinaliyu:
Your point number 1... Contradicts 2. If the word is God, how come he existed in the beginning with God?

And besides, jesus didn't claim he is God, he always claim there is one God in the heaven+(father)

Thanks in advance

The Bible never records Jesus saying the precise words, “I am God.” That does not mean, however, that He did not proclaim that He is God.

These verses clearly indicate that Jesus is God in the flesh.
Acts 20:28 tells us, “Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.” Who bought the church with His own blood? Jesus Christ. And this same verse declares that God purchased His church with His own blood. Therefore, Jesus is God!

Thomas the disciple declared concerning Jesus, “My Lord and my God” (John 20:28). Jesus does not correct him.

Titus 2:13 encourages us to wait for the coming of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ (see also 2 Peter 1:1).

In Hebrews 1:8 , the Father declares of Jesus, “But about the Son he says, ‘Your throne, O God, will last forever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom.’” The Father refers to Jesus as “O God,” indicating that Jesus is indeed God.

In Revelation, an angel instructed the apostle John to only worship God (Revelation 19:10). Several times in Scripture Jesus receives worship (Matthew 2:11 ; 14:33 ; 28:9 , 17; Luke 24:52 ; John 9:38). He never rebukes people for worshiping Him.

If Jesus were not God, He would have told people to not worship Him, just as the angel in Revelation did. There are many other passages of Scripture that argue for Jesus’ deity.

The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that, if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2). A created being, which Jesus would be if He were not God, could not pay the infinite penalty required for sin against an infinite God. Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21 ), die, and be resurrected, proving His victory over sin and death.
Religion / Re: Open Matured Discussion Among Religions by alexasomba(m): 7:33am On Mar 29, 2015
Jesus: He lived to teach us how to live and He died so we might have everlasting life.

On His origin, you can find information in John. I have pasted the first four verses of the first chapter bellow:

1 In the beginning, the Word existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 He existed in the beginning with God.

3 Through him all things were made, and apart from him nothing was made that has been made.

4 In him was life, and that life brought light to humanity.

I don't mind helping out if you have further inquiries.

Cheers bro.

I agree that working online takes a lot of devotion to get it done right but it doesn't mean you shouldn't create time to spend with your loved ones.

Being addicted to the internet can make one less available to experience real life interraction. And as much as hard work is essential, face to face interraction solidifies trust, friendship, networks.

I personally have a policy of turning off my internet after working hours and earlier weekends so I can be all there with the people in my life whether at home with family or during network meetings. This break tactics helps me live a happy and meaningful life, releave stress, improve productivity and be more productive.

I'll choose working rmart over working hard anyday.

I believe success is not all about what you know but also about who you know. So please give the important people in your life some of your time.

Have this at the back of your mind; Whatever you do to loose fat, you have to make up your mind to continue else you return to being fat again.

If staying slim matters to you so much, you must be willing to adopt a new lifestyle.

Finally, irrespective of your size; always exhume confidence and self love, nothing can replace that.

It's widely held that ignorance rises to the executive level, with a concurrent rise in pay; but, until now, we've had only anecdotal evidence of such.

Well, finally, a formal proof is to be had.

1) Axiom - Knowledge is Power
2) Axiom - Time is Money
3) Power = Work / Time (Classical Physics)
4) Knowledge = Work / Money (substitution)

Therefore, Money = Work / Knowledge.

Thus, for any given amount of Work, Money approaches Infinity as Knowledge approaches Zero!

Which means rich people do little or no work.

Business / What You Need To Start A Business by alexasomba(m): 7:38am On Sep 08, 2014
I have found out that starting a business is similar to starting a relationship; much is involved;

The most important thing I'll advice you to have/create is time.

The best time to start a business is whenever you decide to devote your attention to it. I'm not implying that you cannot start a part-time business and still keep your job or still go to school, but rather what I'm saying you'd have to understand your energy level, which of course varies for each of us.

Knowing where you put your time daily matters a lot. This will help you save time where you can so as to increase your productivity.

You must be willing to commit your time because in order to give yourself the best shot at starting a business you have to be able to focus on it.

The best time to starting a business has nothing to do with how old you are; it’s a matter of where you are in your life and whether you’re ready and able to face new challenges.

People will readily reward you with their money only in exchange for some sought of value that you provide them. So when you are ready to sit down, focus your time to generating value only then should you start a business.

Use your time wisely. Thanks! and please add other requirements you believe from experience entrepreneurs should consider having.

beeevan: None that I can remember.

I've got a friend, we were in Secondary School when he lost his mom, being the only son she really did a lot to make him happy. He told me then that one phrase his mom used after shouting his name to call his attention especially when he is "busy" with his video games was "shey I'm calling you now and you're there playing your video game, okay o. Carry on." and those were the first set of words that got to him, when she passed on. He regretted not giving her enough of his time and attention, back then he told me "Alex, if my mom was alive now and called my name once I will answer and run to her a thousand times."

He asked me to pay attention to mine. I'm asking you to pay attention to yours.

I blogged about it here

Family / What Are The Most Important Words Of Advice Given You By Your Parent? by alexasomba(m): 10:18pm On Aug 31, 2014
Before I left for the University my Mom said to me "always remember where you are coming from." sounded ordinary at first until it started influencing my decisions, till this very day based on those words I still think about family especially before making my long term decisions. It's almost as though she programmed my mind.

My Dad used parables a lot and one of them was "you can blame your parents for who you are but you cannot blame them for who you become" His own words rings like a bell in my head, telling me I'm to take responsibility for my own life.

They don't know how much their words impacted me though I'm (secretely) grateful.

Have you been given any good advice by your parent, grandparent, relative or anyone that mattered to you? Kindly share with us.
