From onset Igbos had a strong political structure and negotiation than any other part of southern part of Nigeria that was why Igbos produce Nnamdi Azikwe as President in 1963. Igbos have lost the structure that is why they are in dilemma of secession and Presidency clamouring. The official date of democracy was 1960 the same time as indepence (Nigeria was globally recognized as a democratic country) after which Nigeria became a republic in 1963 when Nigeria produced Nnamdi Azikwe (Zik) as the first democratic President after election being conducted up until 1966 (the first coup by Yakubu Gowon).
After the first coup lasted for years another restoration of democracy came in play in 1978 which produced Shegu Shagari (2nd) after which another coup was formed by Muhammadu Buhari.
After several years of military rule again another restoration of democracy came up in 1993 (3rd) which produced MKO Abiola as a winner after which Ibrahim Babangida annulled it (which was contrary to his promise to enshrined democracy) and he was later overthroned by Sani Abacha.
After few years again of military rule another democracy restoration came up which produced Olusegun Obasanjo came in 1999 (4th democracy) which is still the democracy we have up till date in Nigeria.

Afenifere didn't form AD as a political party, Obafemi Awolowo did form the party in 1988 and was promoted by Chief Bola Ige, Chief Abraham Adesanya, Chief Olu Falae, Alhaji Mamman Yusuf (1st chairman of the party), Alhaji Ahmed Abdulkadir (2nd chairman), Alhaji Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Chief Bisi Akande. So having members of Afenifere involved there doesn't suggest that Afenifere is represented in the party. Today some of these guys in the aforementioned have chatted different political parties for their personal interests (eg the ones supporting Peter Obi, the ones supporting Tinubu etc)

Obi was in a creek politically nobody knew except for the so called bank he was working for as you named it. Peter Obi is a political refugee who has to structure within his regional corridor. If he does he should convince one quarter of Governors from his region to support his 2023 ambition. It's a bitter truth! Because he failed to build on his founding father and benefactor political legacy but hobnobbing around political greener pastures! A man who has no political voice in his state want to Preside over Nigeria! Wonders shall never end! No wonder Atiku Abubakar dropped him for Gov. Okowa! He must have realized his (Atiku) childish mistake!

Obasanjo wasn't the one that formed PDP. Atiku Abubakar, Lar Solomon, Alex Ekwueme and some northerners are the one that formed PDP while Obasanjo was still in prison. It was after the formation that he was released by Abdulsalami Abubakar. Know your history before you start disgracing yourself on a public forum.
Flip side, today the same OBJ is also on the side of Peter Obi, so no love lost between them. You're the one taking paracetamol for another man's headache.
I made reference to Sowore because you people want to make it look at if Tinubu really did what no man has done while in essence the people that really faced the military have not benefited pint of what Tinubu has enjoyed in democracy. So, I purposely brought his name and others to put in perspective those that really faced the military to enthrone our present democratic setting and not someone that ran away from theater of agitation that you people want to use wool to cover our eyes.
If by what you people are spreading about, Sowore and Kola Abiola are more qualify than Tinubu because they were at the heart of the agitation for the enthronement of democracy in 1999.
It is you people that are bringing irrational thing, thinking it will fly but in essence, you people only use it to disgrace Tinubu the more because we know and identify those that received bullets, beaten, battered and imprisoned for democratic sake and Tinubu not among them.
As I have rightly said, Nigeria is not looking for who has fought for the enthronement of democracy because the problems of Nigeria is bigger than that but Nigeria is looking for people with capacity, capability, competence, courage and character and not kleptomaniac politicians or political jobbers. If we are looking for one, a person like Wole Soyinka will be hired because he is brainy and cerebral and also fought for the enthronement of democracy with his full chest without running away to anywhere and if Wole Soyinka is not ready Femi Falana is also capable and well able because he also did what Wole Soyinka did but you will never see him claiming right to democracy enthronement.
Mr. Peter Obi betrayed Ojukwu but he still handed over the reign of leadership of Anambra to APGA and till date Ojukwu's party is still reigning. How did he betray him? If you just hear people saying something and start flying it about for political reason, it belittles your integrity. What happened between Ojukwu and Obi was what happened between Tinubu and Afenifere but people are saying Obi betrayed Ojukwu but many of you doesn't want people to say Tinubu betrayed Afenifere.
Tinubu left AD because of Afenifere, same way Obi left APGA because of high-handedness of APGA. If you want more clarity on this I will give it to you but let me just stop now.

There is a lot of names to mention on Nationalism not even the ones you are chanting herein the likes of Obafemi Awolowo, Herbert Macaulay, Zik, Aminu Kano, Sir. Ahmadu Bello and others were the pioneers. All these ones you mentioned are just newbies who joined the Nationalism trend, ok.

It's a fallacy to link civil society with like Afenifere with a political party like AD. There are two different things, systems and goal. A civil society is committed to the society while a political party is committed to the interest of people involved, ok.
Your position may host through in South East in this regards I can't can tell because Southeast are still playing nzogbu-nzogbu life according to Prof. Soludo.

Peter obi never handed Anambra state to APGA he had no structure in APGA, he was never a key stakeholder in APGA. Ojukwu formed the party and from his benevolence only picked Peter obi from the creek and promoted him into limelight just like Tinubu who glaringly promoted Osinbajo into political limelight. Peter Obi has no political structure in Anambra state. His party is not even represented at Anambra state Assembly not as a LGA councilor. This is just an ugly revelation honestly.
