A housewife, Shamsiyya Dikko, on Thursday begged a Sharia court l sitting at Rigasa, Kaduna to dissolve her marriage with Aminu Umar, over his refusal to pray.

The complainant who resides at Rigasa, also prayed for divorce on grounds that Umar was an alleged drug addict who has refused to provide for his family.

”I have been living with my parents for nine months due to my husbands behaviour. He has not visited me even once to apologise for his actions,” she told tghe court.

On his part, Umar denied the allegations against him saying he only smokes cigarette.

Umar told the court that he was still in love with his wife.

He said that he had made efforts to resolve the problems and has met with his in-laws after his wife left his house in order for her to return to her matrimonial home but she refused.

He prayed court to give him more time to try and reconcile with his wife.

After listening to the parties, the Judge, Malam Dahiru Bamalli, ordered the couple to work towards saving their marriage.

Bamalli, however, ordered them to produce their their parents or guardians in court if the reconciliation was not successful.

He adjourned the matter until Dec. 18, for report on reconciliation or for divorce proceedings to begin.

A 33-year-old transporter, Destiny Ehikwe, has been murdered by suspected thieves in Illah, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The deceased, who left behind his wife and seven-month-old baby, was said to be plying the Asaba-Agbor-Benin route with his Sienna space wagon, and was contracted by a man in his 20s to convey some items for him.

A member of the deceased’s family, one Mr Okonta, told PUNCH Metro that Destiny was contracted on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, to convey the items from Issele-Uku to Ubolue.

He said, “On Wednesday, somebody contracted my brother to convey some items for him and Destiny charged him N10,000, but the man paid N1,000 and promised to pay the balance at the end of the trip. But my brother could not meet up with the schedule that day, so the man continued calling him. He eventually made the trip on Thursday, but did not return.

“So, on Friday, his wife alerted us and we tracked his phone and found out that it was in Illah; we reported the case at the Illah Police Division and policemen later called us that his vehicle was recovered and we went there and saw that the vehicle belongs to Destiny.

“The police tracked the number that the man used to call my brother to an old woman and from there, the police laid an ambush where the vehicle was discovered and later arrested some persons, who led the police to where Destiny’s decomposing body was found on Monday, September 16, in an abandoned soakaway pit. Some parts of his body were missing; we suspect foul play.”

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, said four suspects had been arrested in connection with the killing of Destiny.

The PPRO stated, “Destiny was lured to the Illah community in order to steal his vehicle. The assailants shot him and left the vehicle in the bush, while perfecting plans to take the vehicle out of the community. We recovered the deceased’s phone from the killers.
“The body was discovered in a soakaway pit and the suspects are all in their mid 20s. Investigation is ongoing to recover the arms used to shoot the deceased. For now, I cannot say the suspects are ritualists, but we discovered that they had the intention of stealing the vehicle; the deceased’s corpse has been deposited in the mortuary.”

Critic, Daddy Freeze has called out Nigerian pastors and billionaires to emulate the gesture of Apostle Johnson Suleman who pledged to pay for the tickets and airlifting of 20 Nigerians from South Africa back to the country.

President, Omega Fire Ministries Worldwide, Apostle Suleman had on Thursday offered free tickets to evacuate 20 Nigerians from South Africa in the wake of Xenophobic attacks on Nigerians.

Suleman said he just heard that 900 Nigerians wanted to return home from South Africa, saying that he had asked that flight tickets should be bought for 20 Nigerians in South Africa.

He said he would take care of the cost, but noted that such interested Nigerians should register at the church’s branch in Johannesburg.

He wrote on his Twitter page: “Just heard 900 Nigerians want to return home from SA. I asked the flight tickets be bought for 20 Nigerians in South Africa who want to return home..I will take care of the cost..pls register at our church in Johannesburg..we will airlift more by God’s grace. God keep you all alive.”

Reacting to this, Daddy Freeze wrote on his Instagram page: “Good one!‬ ‪If 45 well meaning pastors and billionaires each follow suit and take up the cost of tickets for 20 Nigerians, all our brothers and sisters will be home, safe and sound.‬

“‪We all need to come together to make this happen!”‬

A 22-year-old Ghanaian Slay Queen has shocked many with her disclosure of the number of men she has slept with.

Hoodlums have killed three persons at Iguadolor community in Ovia South-West local government area of Edo state.

The three victims are a mother and two daughters including a six months old baby.

It was gathered that the victims were children and grandchildren of the Odionwere (head) of the village, Pa. Omorogbe Avanrenren.

Some of the community members who spoke said the killings could be related to lingering crisis between the community elders and Okaighele (Youth head) of the community, Perrick Egbon.

Pa Avanreren said he was shocked that his children were killed.

Chairman of Ovia South-West local government, Scot Ogbemudia, who visited the community appealed for calm and promised to unravel the killers.

According to him, “We will make sure we investigate this incident. We will work with security agencies and ensure the law takes its course.”

Perrick Egbon in a phone chat denied being involved in the killings.

He described it as unsubstantiated allegations.

Spokesman for the Edo Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed the killings but said no arrest has been made.

He said, “It actually happened. Three persons were killed. Two female adults and a baby. The police is currently investigating the incident.”

Aviation security officer, Jennifer Luka who works at the Yola International Airport has been suspended indefinitely by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria following a report of theft involving the officer.

The suspension according to FAAN spokesperson, Henrietta Yakubu is pending the completion of investigation into the case. She said the Authority has consequently handed over the erring officer to the appropriate security agency for further questioning and prosecution.

Yakubu said: ”FAAN deeply regrets this unfortunate incident and the conduct of Jennifer, which does not reflect the values of the Authority and its staff. The Authority wishes to re-assure the general public that our airports remain safe and secure for travellers and other airport users.”
