The President is travelling along with some top government officials to his hometown on a five-day official visit.

He arrived in Katsina at about 4:42 pm and was received by the state governor, Aminu Masari, his deputy, Mannir Yakubu, and other members of the State Executive Council among others.

President Buhari, thereafter, headed to Daura at about 5:04 pm aboard a helicopter.

While in his hometown, the President is expected to attend a ground-breaking ceremony for the take-off of the University of Transportation, Daura, among other functions.

Nadia Buari, one of the most popular Ghanaian actresses is today celebrating her birthday today.

The mother of 4 kids, who was born in Takoradi, Ghana to a musician and a producer called Alhaji Sidiku Buari and mother who is a beautician called Hajia Buari, is now 36 years old. She was born on 21 November 1982.

Taking to her Instagram page, she shared these photos of herself with her fans.

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Board has approved the appointment of One Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, three Assistant Comptroller-Generals of Customs and promoted 2,508 officers to various ranks. In a statement on Wednesday by the NCS spokesman, Joseph Attah, he said the promotion is effective from 1st January, 2018.

According to the breakdown, the newly appointed members of management are DCG David Chikan, ACG Kashim Ajiya, ACG Dinatu Umaru and ACG Yusuf Bashar.

Deputy Comptrollers promoted to the rank of Comptroller are AD Sanusi, US Buhari, and AI Alfa, among others. Thirty Deputy Comptrollers (DC) were promoted to Comptroller of Customs; 115 Assistant Comptrollers (AC) became DC 1; 45 Chief Superintendent of Customs (CSC) were promoted to AC; 43 moved from Superintendent of Customs (SC) to CSC. Customs also promoted 117 Deputy Superintendent of Customs (DSC) to AC; 565 Assistant Superintendent of Customs I (ASCI) became SC; 988 ASCII were promoted to ASCI, while 505 Inspectors of Customs were promoted to ASCII. The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (rtd), while congratulating the new members of management and the promoted officers, charged them to see their elevations as a call to greater responsibilities. He urged them to double their efforts to consolidate on the gains of the on-going Service reforms.

The Anti-smuggling Team of the Ogun I Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has arrested one Samson Odebija who was in possession of fake currency notes worth N2.5 million at its Ihunbo check point, along Sango-Idiroko road, Ogun State.

The command said this in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada and made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

“While being interrogated, the suspect disclosed that he was commissioned by one Alfa to help him transport the fake currency notes to Owode from Idiroko with a promise to reward him with N5,000, but met his waterloo,” Maiwada said.

The NCS also said it had discovered a hideout of petrol smugglers along Idiroko border.

According to Maiwada, the Command Anti-Bunkering Team ‘A’, while on information patrol, discovered the smuggling hideout at Iko-Gateway, along Idiroko road, leading to the seizure of 160 jerry cans (25 litres each) of petrol.

“The daredevil smugglers device a crook method by hiding the tanker and then used other vehicles as shield from public view.

“They further nefariously constructed a pipe with an outlet sited in a cassava farm. The fuel is then siphoned into a tank and then into jerry cans with an intention to export the said items in batches outside the country,” he said.

DAILY POST learnt that the Anti-smuggling Crack Team also intercepted 40 drums of industrial alcohol known as ethanol.

The item, as said, was strictly stamped by NAFDAC for industrial use.

However, the NCS said investigation revealed that some unscrupulous elements engaged in the distribution of the product to Idiroko populace, who ignorantly dilute the item with water and take same as alcoholic drink.

This, Maiwada noted, is evidently harmful to the health of the people.
