Onlytruth: So being the leader of Eastern Nigeria (which by the way included Western Cameroons then) was no big deal, or he was just a figure head?
That is YOUR OWN interpretation and has NOTHING to do with facts. He WAS the LEADER of EASTERN NIGERIA - a huge region with a majority tribe in it. The majority chose him to lead them, just like we are choosing Jonathan today to lead Nigeria.
Did any of the minority in Western region lead it, even for one day? Answer NO.
Look, my point is that it doesn't take much to see where all the noise about "south south" is coming from these days.
We have people from Cross river, Rivers and Akwa Ibom on this nairaland forum. You SELDOM see them write incendiary things against the Igbo. Those are Easterners. They know that Ndigbo may not have being angels, but we certainly bettered other regions in terms of how we treated our minorities.
My point is that Midwestern minorities had a tougher life with Western Nigeria before they obtained the Midwest, hence their unwarranted militancy against majority rule. Edwin Clarke can never reason like Eyo Ita.
A wolf and a dog may be of the same specie, but one has been treated better by nature. One dines with man, the other hunts in the wild. There is nothing condescending about that. wrong onlytruth,,,,, mid west just like south-south people to the igbos have been treated well by the yorubas being a leader of a majority does not mean anything,,,so long has they provide your people with the basic amenities the itsekiri just like jason12345 have realised that and i also think sapeleguy too have seen that making a minority rule over majority does not mean anything when abacha (kanuri so called northern minority) was ruling nigeria did he make borno state better or did we like him more the answer is no |
Politics › Re: How Igbo Created South-south (onlytruth, Dede1, Etc., Sorry To Spoil Your Day) by aljharem(m): 12:42am On Dec 06, 2010 |
SapeleGuy: I will make this quick, Ita was of course leader but didn't really control the power base there was to be no breakaway region. Mid West never led the Western house but were always working towards actualising their very own region. From a strategic perspective it all depends on whether or not being an 'eligible bride' without real power is your cup of tea.
The thread is about the south south so whats the problem? and we only came in this direction after Obiagu 1's incendiary posts after Beaf's well meaning responses fell on deaf ears. I noticed you were conspicuous by your absence in terms of admonishing obiagu because his message suited your purpose.
So these eastern minorities are such simpletons and so gullible and can't think for themselves, just imagine they will now be corrupted by those wicked mid westerners - Geezer, you're better than this, this is one of the most condescending things I have read on this thread
Abracadabra, Whilst you didn't get your state, the difference is that your request was backed by either Ohaneze or the South East Senate Caucus Group. Anioma wasn't. sapeleguy,, i like your points and u sound very intelligent i just want u to know that sapele (i think is your city) is in delta state and was regarded as part of mid-west with the edo state and delta state,,,,,so i do not think u should classify urself with either SE or SW but as a mid westerner thanks for your time |

igbobuigbo: Where did yo get that from
That is the FAKE perception the once SW-dominated press made eediots like you believe. The reality is different. guy i know what i am talking about i have been to lagos, ibadan and i know what i am saying even i a small village in sw u find doctors, engineers etc believe me lagos is does not represent the sw also i believe that we northerners need to step up in our education but all i am just saying is that u can nt use jamb result or emegualli to say se is the most educated part in nigeria pls do not hit on me with insult because i do not want to insult u or ur ethnic group just act mature |

Faeb: Ask those who pull down the likes of Emeagwali, while Western countries find use for previously criminal hackers and any citizen with brains. Ask why we pull each other down and still go to church on Sundays and mosques on Fridays.
There is nothing genetic about jealousy and low self esteem; those are the illnesses we suffer. i dislike stu-pid people so because we do not support fraud we are bad people that bring our brother down what a dumb statement |
Politics › Re: Lagos Attains 92% Literacy Rate by aljharem(m): 10:35pm On Dec 05, 2010 |
igbobuigbo: The source is UNDP via NBS. You can google that, I am sure
I have already in my first post acknowledged that Lagos should have the highest literacy level for obvious reason: admixture of people from different ethnicities. I am only insisting that the 92 % claim is wrong, just like your own FAKE 70 % claim as of 1960 So quit ranting like an ant.
Check the data for other Yoruba and Igbo states and you get stung in the head seriously i do not know were u get this facts from but i have to be honest here ever nigerian know that the yorubas are the most educated both at home or abroad the jamb u claim is a fake exam because we know they cheat in the exam |

Politics › Re: Lagos Attains 92% Literacy Rate by aljharem(m): 8:37pm On Dec 05, 2010 |
DapoBear: Yeah, literacy is not only defined as English-speaking, reading and writing. If you can read and write Yoruba instead, you are literate.
Still, I doubt that 92% figure. excanny: Why all the mention of literacy in Yoruba? Lagos is also largely Igbo-speaking. And dont be surprised if the Igbo-speaking population make up this high literacy in Lagos with either literacy in English or Igbo.
Igbos currently lead in education in Nigeria( source, JAMB stats), and a large bulk of them are based in Lagos. pls forget this yoruba and igbo thing and face the matter |

No matter what is being discussed here, it will definitely boil down to ethnic bashing. Yet some of these same unscrupulus nonentities will at the same time lay claim to civilisation.

Not after 8 years of their being in power in a multi-ethnic country. wrong whether he is from sw or north does it really matter wat we have to looking at is who would move this country forward by the way what is your problem with sw are they the ones that stopped igbo presidency or wat u being jealous of sw is not going to make u grow in life u know everytime sw yoruba u need medical check up on your brain brother |

Faeb: That all sounds so nice and clever, but I have a simple question; why would an army painted in such lovely colours stoop so low as to burn peoples houses and a transformer? They haven't denied that, they simply maintain that the only houses they burnt were the ones underneath powerlines. How that would have trapped John Togo is best known to them or maybe they thought he was hiding inside the transformer? Nothing surprises one these days. Why would such procedure following troops do such, except they are the usual bastar'ds that murder civilians for sport and ra'pe the young and old?
Onlytruth, I think you are sick person , who should be in the hospital. And those who talk of about 6 zone are sick people. Look let get our fact right like Ekwueme-led Igbo team who out of thier imagination created a 6 zones. Chief Antony enahoro team also created 18 zones. Why are the igbos not talking of 18 zones. If also remember another group talking about 8 zones. I think middle belt group. So like Ekwueme-led Igbo team 6 zones, should the Igbo dominated media not be talking about Enahoro 18 zones or the middle belt 8 zone. The igbo media like nairaland only talk and push 6 zone. Why as Orji Kalu newspaper The Sun an Igbo newspaper or Champion and Igbo newspaper etc, have nothing to talk about. Even some of the newspapers. Have colum on some of this Imagine Ekwueme-led Igbo team 6 zones. The fact still hold that Nigerian are people with blood like you. And for fairness and treating other human being the same. The 6 zones is an insult to majority of Nigeria. And the Igbos can not force 6 zones on the rest of Nigeria. You dont push 6 zone on the rest of nigerian because Jonathan is an ijaw man. Look if that happen, that would be the day they would impreach him. The real truth is , you can not label people based on zone in an election. It is not the best for anyone. If you have a thief in power are you going to support him. Now imagine if the Igbo now present author Nzeribe or the north demand that IBB become president. dont you know what would happen. If the zone have population, then we would be talking about zones. but when one zone has 3 times the population of another. Like Ekwueme-led Igbo team draw up it 6 zone. any ethnics group can draw up its zone and have its newspaper talk about it. Ok Ok, onlytruth, since you are so concern about ethnics minority. What about if we have all the ijaw in one zone. So we have 7 zones. you people are selfish. and we start 100% derivation. dont laugh, I want to show you , you people are selfish .
u get problem wit that map u posted |
