Koscielny - It has been a crazy two years
By Chris Harris
Laurent Koscielny has come a long way in a very short space of time.
The centre back was something of an unknown quantity when he arrived at Emirates Stadium last summer but he has been a revelation this season, establishing himself at the heart of Arsenal's defence with a series of fine performances. And yet it's only two years since he was plying his trade in the second tier of French football.
Koscielny was Ligue 2 Player of the Year in 2009 and earned a move to Lorient, for whom he scored his first goal in the French top-flight in a 1-1 draw at Marseille in March 2010. With L'OM back in his sights in the Champions League tonight, Koscielny cannot quite believe his meteoric rise.
"Two years ago I scored with Lorient in Marseille. Since then, so many things have happened to me," he said.
"If someone had told me that I would now be playing for Arsenal, that I would have beaten Lionel Messi's Barcelona team and had been called up for France, I would not have believed it. It has been two crazy years.
"I often think of my unusual journey to the top level. I had some difficult moments which made me who I am now. I know where I'm coming from and what I had to do to get where I'm now.
"I had three great managers in Daniel Sanchez in Tours, Christian Gourcuff and now Arsène Wenger. They are very similar and share the same philosophy of football. Everything went so fast and I know that it could go as fast in the other way so I'm staying very humble. I respect football. If you get carried away, things will get back at you.
"We are approaching the Marseille game with a real momentum. We are starting to hate losing. We know they have some good players and we will have to be serious and play like we did at Chelsea. Its a very important game as if we win, we will have 10 points and be almost throug I love that sentence written in BOLD!!! GRIT!! COYG!!! |

Calling a Spade, a spade. . .Diaby is Class!! Injury has never given him the opportunity to play 10 straight games on a stretch! i just don't know where he's going to play when everybody is fit. . .
Rozzi, Benayoun, Wilshere, Asrhavin, Arteta, Frimpong, Coq, Song, Rvp, Theo, OX, Gervinho, Park, Chamakh, Ryo. . . . 15 players there and there's only a place for 6 players!!
Only Song and RvP are sure to start any day and ofcourse Arteta! |

Jencejyde: Well assuming other results go in our favor then definitely our odds of finishing impressively will shoot up. Don't wanna get too over excited yet cos its still a long season ahead. Yeah! Esp. for City. . . .They just need to take a break say - Double draws or dropping 3 points over their next 2 games in the EPL. . . |

Jencejyde: As per depth, i have never been more happy to see us have such in a long while, I mean the depth we are talking about here is experince, To rest Arshavin,Benayoun,Verm,Rosicky(with jack, sagna, gibbs, diaby still to come), on a day when we are playing chelsea is quite impressive.
Unto the next game, but hopefully we could still add quality in the summer to just to shore things up. Can't ask for more aside CONSISTENCY now. . . We have. . . . Masseille - H WBA - H Norwich Dortmund - A Fulham - H Man City Carling Cup - H If we win all this games. . . .Then we are def. BACK!!! |

chamotex: Arsenal host Sunderland in their Premier League fixture at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday. Both sides are floundering just above the relegation zone, and are in desperate need of three points. Arsenal are one point ahead of of Sunderland, but have had a far worse start to the season relative to their own high expectations. Arsene Wenger's side are used to mounting a serious challenge for the title, and will be desperate to turn things around with a win against Sunderland on Sunday.
Arsenal sold a number of their top players over the summer, losing captain Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, and both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy to Premier League rivals to Manchester City. Wenger tried to plug the gaps left by these departures with Mikel Arteta and Gervinho, but the side has not gelled convincingly so far this season. Arsenal were humiliatingly drubbed by Manchester United 8-2 in September, and lost 2-1 to Tottenham in the North London derby two weeks ago. The North London club will be desperate to salvage some pride with a win against Sunderland in their upcoming match.
Sunderland are only one point clear of the relegation zone, and fans will want reassurance that their side will not be struggling to stay in the top flight for next season. Sunderland will start with ex-Arsenal forward Nicklas Bendtner up front, and the Danish player will doubtless want to get one over his old club on Sunday, proving that they were wrong to offload him over the summer. The stage is set for a compelling encounter.
Match Bendtner won't play this game!!! - its in the contract. . .he's not going to play against Arsenal in any competition as long as he's on loan! well that said. . .i think we should nick this one in. 4 - 1 victory!! PARK / Theo RvP Arteta / Gervinho PER Larsson |
