Can somebody help to suggest the composition and equipments from solar energy that will allow me to have a minimum of 18hrs of electric power in the house enough to power at least two 1.5HP split unit, two fan, 2 televisions, standard fridge/freezer and couple of security lights/bulbs all at a time and bearing in mind the system will be 100% independent of any connections to external power generation systems PHNC or likes. Any help will be appreciated.
Efficiency is a paramount consideration in energy generation and utilisation.
We often worry more about generating energy than we do about efficiently utilising it,
It shouldn’t end with worrying about generating the energy, efficient use is also very important, infact just as important.

If I generate 1000w and utilise it at an efficiency of 60% while Mr B generates 700W but utilizes this at an efficiency of 85%; even though the later has a capacity that is 30% smaller, we will realize about the same amount of productivity or use.
When you finally decide on a setup put the following in mind:

Have an energy efficient consumption habit.

Install energy efficient lighting systems,
LED lamps- 35% more efficient than CFLS(spiral energy saving bulbs) and 85% more efficient than Incandescent lamps. I’m sure Mr Dunka can tesify to the benefit LED utilization, I can attest to his penchant for efficient lighting grin

Buy energy efficient appliances
Air Conditioning systems for instance account for one of the largest energy consumption in domestic setups. So even the slightest amount of efficiency improvement with them will result in reasonable energy conservation. When you buy Appliances generally, check for an Energy Star Label.
For ACs lookout for models with High Energy Efficiency Rating (EER). The EER indicates the relative amount of energy required to produce a specific cooling output, check the energy star site and research ratings on brands and models.
The link below shows the Energy Star 2016 list of the most energy efficient Central AC systems (brands and Models), with information on EER, Annual Energy Use, estimated Lifetime Operation Cost etc.

The comments on this thread are literally rib cracking.
I see people posting ridiculous and unrealistic figures, even people who have no idea how much a bag of cement costs are providing project cost from foundation to finishing. Building standards in Nigeria have deteriorated to the point where just about anybody can raise a structure and be termed a "Building Engineer"
9Million, lol seriouslyhuh
600k for Electrical fittings for a supposedly High taste?
The undertstanding and definition of "High Taste" is obviously relative and open to interpretation. We are limited to what we are exposed to.
Some folks might find it hard to comprehend how a 4 bedroom bungalow can cost over a million Naira for Electrical finishing alone, and I mean just accessories and lighting fixtures.(this is excluding piping, wiring and labour)
An LED chandelier can gulp in excess of 300k and a 13A single socket can cost up to 5000 for a single piece, again it depends on your preference. For an average budget, this is over the top. but for some, this is familiar territory .

I'll give one example: A 13A Legrand Mallia Single Socket (Dark Silver) fitted with a (Gold , Brushed/polished stainless steel or lacquered black) face plate will set you back over 5k per piece . The white of the same costs about half as much. Which is still very high for most budgets. But some will consider anything less to be sub par.

For those who might be quick to shout:

13A Dark Silver socket (gang unit) - LEG283511

Gold, Polished SS, Brushed SS (Cover Plates) - LEG28192, LEG281986, LEG281978

Look them up

Price for LED flood lights. Not part of catalog I think.
Chief, been a while . Yh that's correct.
Our catalogues primarily contain items for finishing and interior decor, because thats where user selection is applicable... taste, choice and style come in. Most other electrical items are simply bought to specification. Hence Alot of items are not on the catalogue.

About the flood lights ...we primarily sell original Torch but it's available in various sizes and designs. For instance the attached are pictures of the same Torch brand, in the same 100w size.... But in three different designs.
I'll hit you up on WhatsApp later.

Very true. It's about to get very real as my humble supplier is not even ready to sell some plumbing items to me today. I had to scream and later beg before he agreed to get me some quantity.

Building cost is about to get higher than we imagined. Everyone should look before they take the plunge of accepting Naira to carry out contracts. The situation is getting frightening.
In P-square's voice.... wahala dey! Wahala dey!!

Lol @ "Scream... and later beg"

But mehn!! If we no accept Naira na cedis we wan accept ?. grin
@ bolded Makes quite alot of sense.
If a quote is tendered at a particular time "x", and the Naira value converted to US $, you're in the safe zone regardless of how the rates go "IF" you'll be payed in US $ or the equivalent Naira value according to prevailing rate at execution time "z"

Just two days ago a member here was telling me how he wanted to make sure he bought all his plumbing materials before the end of this week cos he had fears of a possible inflation next week in light of the new forex regime and the cement price hike.
I was busy reassuring him and emphasizing on the need not to worry that there would hardly be any serious impact in plumbing or electrical. But to my utmost and greatest astonishment prices have escalated in the last 48hrs alone, first it was legrand with 30% on tuesday, and then the calls kept coming. some importers are even putting sale on hold for fear of loosing money in the event of a continued upward trend
half of the calls i got today were price change notifications. Infact I was a victim of the market shock reaction today.
I was on the veeeeerge of canceling all the orders i already got paid for, it took a lot of considerations, renegotiations and loss absorption . Oga chux u talk am oooo cry

I hate to be an Alarmist but Folks The Threat is REAL!!! The Panic is setting In. And BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU , Alot is about to happen in the coming week.

Please folks who deal in other materials, do good to share happenings in your market. I think it would be great if we kept a flow of information.
