Hi guys.

Thank God for the all medical calls.

my eye just caught some posts about bringing nanny and kids and all wat not from a 9ja mummy or so.

let me just type in what i know. Child care in Canada is a serious matter. There are extra visa requirements if you are entering canada as a care giver or nanny so if you are contemplating bringing a "9ja style nanny" here as a nanny just forget it. nanny here have special training in CPR etc. Maybe you can apply for her under another status. If your mum is retired ehen, you can include her and she will help you.

US and Canada work closely together share info etc but dem no be the same at all. Americans still require work permit and study permit. So be prepared to pay health insurance etc if you are american or for your kids if they are american.

what else what else. Yes my neighbor from France was asked was asked to pay 18months child care for her child. her programme is 18months in addition to school fees. her child care is about 58 bucks a day.

I do not know much but from my small interaction with an immigration lawyer, doing medical initially helps a lot. I do not know how it helps though. she wouldnt say but she told me she always insists on medical being a part of the initial application. Maybe its a way for her Dr. friends to make money. But it wont hurt to do it. its valid for a year. worst case you reapply scenario during its validity.

Oh and when looking for admission look for towns that have cheap housing with free buses. when looking for job after school you can always move. Bigger towns equals more expenses. Vancouver for example is very expensive.

Gotta run. These books wont read themselves.

I do not know it all. So do not come for me.....

Hello everyone.

Please i have a question. Does anyone know how long on average VFS/CIC will hold your passport when you receive a message to drop off your passport?

Thanks.

It seems Ph.D applicant seeking visa are very few in the house. How do Visa Officer see Ph.D students? I'm Planning to apply using the online route tommorrow with first 2 years of full scholarship. Any general advice on my application? I'm a graduate assistant in a federal university with 2 years working experience but i have little money in my bank account to show as proof of fund. I was advised by some pple to add SOA even though i am on scholarship. Pls Advise?
Hello.

You will need your employment letter, payslips, bank statement, approval of study leave from the registrar's office. Most federal universities (well the old ones) insist on the lecturers signing a bond to return and teach for duration they spent studying- this is very helpful as it is a very strong hometie and a letter from the scholarship awarding body.

if your scholarship was full you would require only the above.

Since you say you have little money in your account please get a sponsor with a good SOA. this is for the 2 years not accounted for by the scholarship. the sponsor should write a supporting affidavit or letter to the effect that he/she will handle whatever the scholarship doesn't cover. He/she can add docs of properties owned.

A letter from your current HOD or Dean to the fact that the area of your proposed study is lacking in the department though not essential will help. If your supervisor in Canada can write a letter of support on your behalf it will help as well.

Prayer. very essential and will help a great deal because the race is not to the swift....

all the best.

thanks Chrigo for the sharp response.
Just to clarify he should apply for a visiting visa for less than 6months and when she enters she can apply for a work permit. Right?

Not trying to join issues with anyone.

I just want to say that whether online or paper, take your application seriously. Include as many documents as you can. I have seen online denials for what can be considered very good applications same way I have seen approvals for some 'one kind' applications. There are so many variables considered by the VOs.

Example- My colleague's sponsor had 2.8 and he had 800k. No landed property. He applied via paper in june 13 and he is in canada as I speak. Apparently his supervisors included a letter for the application and emailed the cic in addition. A friend with a higher SOA, landed property plus job and family was recently denied online route. He said he spoke to an immigration lawyer in canada who advised him to take the paper route and write a details letter almost like an appeal and include documents and pictures.
No one can truly say what the VOs are looking for.

So far the main and clear advantage of online is that you know where you stand early and can plan your life accordingly instead of waiting 4 months.

Hi everyone. I see that online application is faster but I still have some issues I need to clarify before I go that route. The medical request comes fast but from what I' ve read here, there are no follow up instructions. So after medical is done what are the online applicants meant to do? Pay fees? Send hard copies of docs submitted online? Submit passport? And where will they submit to if the answers are yes?

please does anyone know the possibility of getting a Canadian visa while pregnant. if pregnancy shows in the medical test is that a reason to deny the visa?

@fhemmmy. Thanks bro. I was thinking that since my office has given me leave with pay its a sign that i am coming home. I want to return anyway. Also, I assumed that since I have funding for rent, feeding, misc etc my account balance will be soley for her upkeep.

@fhemmmy thanks for your response. Its a phd and I don't want to leave my wife behind though she isn't keen on going. I don't want to hear stories. So how much should be the minimum in my account as I am fully sponsored.? Thank u.
