Parents of kidnapped students of an Islamic school in Nigeria's Niger state are again pleading with authorities to step up efforts to save tens of students abducted by gunmen.

In the latest school kidnapping to hit northern Nigeria, at least 136 students were seized on Sunday from Salihu Tanko Islamic School in the town of Tegina.

One of the parents of the student Hadiza Hashim who
had five children in the school told ARISE News on
Friday when the parents featured on The Morning Show that she witnessed the kidnap of the children
as her house is also situated in the school.
According to her, five of her children were initially kidnapped, but two of them aged 2 and 4 were among the 11 that were released because they could
not walk.

She also expressed displeasure at how the Niger state government has handled the incident noting that the released children are still being terrified.

Presently, the Niger state governor just a few hours after the kidnap has travelled out of Nigeria. He says he's on a mission to seek solutions to the security challenges in his state.

Lagos-based makeup artist, Peace Eichie (@peenfaces) has shared her 'unusual' encounter with a bride whose church does not permit use of makeup for weddings.

According to the Ms Eichie, she made the bride up for her engagement ceremony and had to take off the makeup for her church wedding held at the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries (MFM)

Instead of the usual touch ups for the reception, she had to make the bride up all over, a situation she described as frustrating.

"I had an unusual encounter with my bride on Saturday. After her engagement in the morning I had to take off her make up for church service. Her church doesn’t permit make up. I was frustrated and angry cos i would have to start the make up from scratch for Her reception and we know the rush is usually epic when they come back from church for reception programme," she narrated.

Niger state where 136 pupils were abducted weeps as he accuses the state govt of neglect.

Parents of the abducted 136 pupils of the Salihu Tanko Islamiyya school in Tegina town, Rafi LGA, in Niger state have accused the state government of abandoning them just as they say the bandits have raised the ransom for their release from N120 million to N200 million.

Armed bandits stormed the school riding in motorcycles and abducted the pupils, some of them who were under four years, on Sunday, May 27. Three teachers were also abducted.

In an emotional-laden interview on AriseTV today, June 4, the headteacher of the school, Abubakar Alhassan, whose child was also abducted alongside his sister, broke down in tears as he accused the state government officials of not contacting the state government of neglecting them or even showing sympathy to them.

“My own children. They took them to an unknown place. They took them to bushes where they are to sleep on the ground. No leaf, no mat. How do you expect them to live like that? 

All eyes are on me as the head teacher. I have witnessed the funeral prayers of one of the parents very close to the school. She had just one child in the school.

She wasn't around when the incident happened. When she came back, they told her that this is what is happening. Before you know, within 10-15 minutes, she fainted and that was the end of her, she died. That was the day before yesterday.

One day after the incident happened, another parent, a woman, died from heart attack. 

The government, are we not Nigerians? Are we not Nigerlites?  That the government cannot intervene in this issue? This money they are sending to them from the Federal government, is it their money? No sympathy at all. None of the government officials didn't say hi or sorry to us. Are we animals? We are not. We are Nigerians. I am too sad''

The state government on Wednesday said it was doing everything possible to ensure the safe return of the students.

A man named Angel Hernandez Grado livstreamed his last moments before he shot himself in the head.

In the video shared to his Instagram Stories,  Angel is seen in his car, holding a gun while preparing to take his life.

His cousin called him but he refused to pick up. Another loved one called and began singing to him and he broke down in tears.

Police surrounded his car and tried to talk him out of making any rash decisions but Angel, who has a love for cars and writes about cars, wouldn't listen.

Friends also left comments, begging him not to kill himself, all to no avail.

A helicopter was sent to the scene and police cars were also at the scene. A female police officer kept trying to get him to step out of his car but the father-of-one wouldn't budge.

His last post on his Stories was a photo of his son.

He shot himself in the head and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition on Wednesday morning,  May 26. He didn't make it.

Friends took to Instagram to mourn him.

But not everyone was sympathetic.

Turns out he had led police on a car chase and hours-long standoff on the 5 Freeway in San Clemente after they tried to track him down for allegedly abusing his child's mother.

According to the San Diego Police Department, a female victim contacted authorities about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, and said her boyfriend had tried to strangle her.

The nude woman flagged down officers on Central Avenue, near Landis Street, and told them her boyfriend had attacked her and tried to strangle her at a nearby home.

An ambulance crew took the victim to a hospital for an evaluation.

By the time officers got to the residence where the alleged assault had occurred, Angel, 28, had already fled.

About two hours later, authorities found the suspect driving on the 15 Freeway, near the 8 Freeway interchange in San Diego County and he led them on a chase before killing himself.

Kano varsity apprehends 17 male students over harassment of female colleague for wearing Abaya

The management of Kano University of Science and Technology ( KUST) has apprehended 17 students for harassing a female student for wearing Abaya.

In the video which has since gone viral, the students were seen dragging the cloth of the female student, shouting “mai Abaya” at her.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Shehu Alhaji in a statement said following reports of harassment by the gang of male students, the institution’s management acted and identified some of them.

The statement said the university had constituted a powerful committee headed by the DVC ACAD to identify the unscrupulous students involved and recommend immediate disciplinary action to be taken against them without delay to serve as deterrent to others.

"The committee will this evening present its interim report and recommendations to the university management for further disciplinary action," says a statement signed by the DSA for the committee.

"We wish to appreciate the support of the entire KUST students in maintaining discipline, calmness and confidence in the management in pursuance of student's right. I will update you soon on the next management action."
