AC chieftain faults Oyo graduate taxi drivers' scheme By Olalekan Okusan ACTION Congress (AC) stalwart in Oyo State, Chief Femi Lanlehin, has berated the state government over the use of graduates for its taxi drivers' scheme, arguing that the initiative was "inappropriate" for the targeted group. In a statement yesterday, Lanlehin also described the initiative as "pathetic" and "debasing." His words: "It is a pathetic admission by the Oyo State government that it cannot provide relevant jobs in the various disciplines like Civil Engineering, Geology, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Social Sciences and the Liberal Arts for professionals like lawyers, pharmacists, doctors and accounting graduates. "We ask whether these people need such specialised training on which huge state and family resources have been expended in the universities, to be taxi drivers. Will these well-trained young men and women find fulfillment in their new occupation as taxi drivers?" The AC chieftain argued that it was obvious that the government has no answer or a policy to address the serious crisis of unemployment in the state. http://odili.net/news/source/2009/oct/8/28.html He said: "The state governor is busy gallivanting all over the world with state funds and throwing frivolous parties without developing the infrastructural base upon which employment generation can be anchored in Oyo State." Quoting the Director-General of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), Lanlehin said Oyo State has the highest number of unemployed graduates in the country. He added: "These university graduates are not only denied gainful employment, they are also fleeced of their meagre sustenance money by asking them to purchase employment forms for N1,500 in 2007, 2008 and 2009 which the said employment were not given. "This ludicrous and thoughtless measure exposes the state government for what it is - a government with no vision whatsoever, floundering, wobbling and shuffling as the wind blows it and as it approaches the end of its disastrous tenure." |

tpia.:Believe what you wish but religion has never been a deciding factor in procreation apart from abortions in igboland. Cultural influences dominates religious influences. I am not sure religion has similar impact among other ethnic groups. Do catholic yoruba monogamous families have more children than non catholic monogamous yoruba families? |
tpia.:Agbani does not have a dark skin. |

That's what he is working on. It's like Angola is not 100% capitalistic. Business ownership there is a little bit complicated but his anger is why they refused him visa after all he is a citizen of Africa's super power. Will they do the same to an American? |
ezeagu:That's what you will be saying until they fix their country and close their boarders from you. |

Sisi_Kill:It doesn't mean the few educated in the north are not functional. As a matter of fact, they will be more functional there because majority of their citizens are illiterates and will take whatever they say hook, line and sinker. |
Fhemmmy:Don't mind olanaJI that has turned this into a weapon of yabbing the south. What good comes out from sharia? |
KunleOshob:God will be the judge and not you. It is the prayer of these saints that still kept Nigeria together. If their prayers cease, Nigeria will turn into Darfur. |

My friend is planning to expand his business to Angola. He lives and supplies electrical equipments to companies in Douala after being retrenched from schlumberger 8 years ago, He has branches in Libreville, Cote d' Ivoire, Accra, PH, Liberia and Durban. He recently opened another business in Takoradi and tried to enter Angola only for their chamber of commerce to reject his application leading to visa rejection. |

If this is one benefit of Sharia law, I would careless about it. We don't need sharia law in the south to tell us how to take care of our offspring. |
