Benjanni:
So a man of God in Delta State decided to walk into a shrine and destroy it to prove that the gods were false.
He probably thought nothing would happen.

Well… something happened. The matter landed in court.

According to reports, the Federal High Court sitting in Warri held that his actions violated the constitutional right of the shrine’s worshippers to freedom of religion.

The matter ended up in court.

The court held that the action was unconstitutional and violated the worshippers’ fundamental right to freedom of religion under Section 38 of the 1999 Constitution. The court also found it inconsistent with Section 10, which provides that no government shall adopt any religion as State religion.

As a result, the court ordered the pastor to:

✅ Rebuild the destroyed Egbesu shrine.
✅ Pay ₦100 million as general damages.
✅ Pay ₦100 million as exemplary damages.
✅ Pay ₦5 million as costs.
✅ Publish a public apology in two national newspapers.
✅ Stay at least 10 kilometres away from the worshippers.

Whether you are a Christian, Muslim, traditional worshipper or belong to any other religion, the Constitution protects your freedom to practise your religion.

You are free to preach your faith and try to convince others to join you, but you are not free to destroy another person’s place of worship because you disagree with their beliefs or because you want to prove your God is superior.

PoliticsRe: Trump, Tinubu Meeting Likely - Kayode Are, Nigeria’s US Ambassador by AlphaTaikun: 7:00pm On Jul 04
Islie:
Nigeria’s Ambassador to the United States, Ambassador Kayode Are, has expressed optimism that President Bola Tinubu will undertake an official visit to Washington during his tenure, saying ongoing engagements between Nigeria and the United States provide a strong foundation for such a high-level meeting.

Are said although presidential travel schedules are determined by several strategic considerations, relations between President Bola Tinubu and US President Donald Trump remain cordial, with sustained diplomatic contacts taking place at different levels.

He spoke on Inside Sources with Laolu Akande on Channels Television.

“With the excellent relations between the two [President Donald Trump and President Bola Tinubu], I’m sure we will be able to get that done one way or the other. Of course, you know the itinerary of presidents determines where they go or where they cannot go.”

“Right now, there is a good level of contacts and engagements from top to bottom even if you have not seen them together physically. I will hope finally that during my tenure, that a presidential visit will be possible. It will be the greatest joy to be able to receive my president here,” Are said.

The ambassador said an official presidential visit would further consolidate the strategic partnership between Nigeria and the United States, deepen political and economic cooperation, and create new opportunities for trade, investment and security collaboration.

Are also reflected on the impact of Nigeria’s three-year absence of a substantive ambassador in Washington, describing it as a period that weakened bilateral engagement and disrupted the work of the Nigerian Mission in the United States.

According to him, the diplomatic vacuum affected both external relations with the US government and the internal functioning of the embassy, where many officers had never served under the leadership of a substantive ambassador.

“As we speak, I’m still feeling the impact that for three years we didn’t have an ambassador [to the United States]. In fact, you will find out that even in my mission here, many of the staff who came from home, they’ve never had an ambassador or worked with an ambassador. So, it’s a new learning experience for them. There is a clear impact,” he said.

He explained that rebuilding diplomatic relationships and restoring institutional momentum requires time, stressing that ambassadors play a critical role in maintaining high-level political engagement, promoting investment, advancing trade and representing national interests before the host government.

Nigeria had been without a substantive ambassador in Washington since the recall of its envoys in 2023, leaving career diplomats to manage the mission until Are’s appointment.

The ambassador also addressed concerns over visa restrictions affecting Nigerians, noting that immigration has become a major policy issue across the world, with countries increasingly adopting measures that reflect their national priorities.

He said the United States’ current immigration policies have affected many Nigerians seeking to travel for tourism, business, education and family visits, adding that the embassy receives visa-related enquiries from Nigerians on a daily basis.

“Another issue is the current state of affairs with immigration. All over the world, immigration is generating a lot of attention. Different countries have adopted policies which suit their interests. It has happened that the policies which have been adopted here have restricted the ambitions of some Nigerians, both for their leisure or for business. Every day, I receive enquiries from Nigerians about visas,” he said.

While acknowledging that diplomatic representation alone cannot eliminate visa challenges, Are said sustained engagement with American authorities would help Nigeria better navigate evolving immigration policies and protect the interests of its citizens.

“The visa issues won’t disappear even now that there is an ambassador, but we will create the conditions and engagements with our partners such that those things that are not particularly directed at us, we will learn how to deal with them,” he added.

The ambassador urged Nigerians travelling to the United States to comply strictly with the conditions of their visas, warning that overstaying or violating immigration regulations damages individual cases and could also affect the country’s reputation.

“One of the things is that if you come on a visa for a visit, you cannot expect to stay here beyond your visit and expect people to condone you because you are a Nigerian. It won’t happen,” he said.

Are maintained that responsible conduct by Nigerian travellers, combined with sustained diplomatic engagement and stronger institutional cooperation, would help preserve and deepen the long-standing relationship between Nigeria and the United States.

He expressed confidence that with continued high-level contacts between both governments and renewed diplomatic momentum, Nigeria-US relations would continue to strengthen, while reiterating his hope of welcoming President Tinubu to Washington during his tenure as ambassador.

Emmanuel Addeh in Abuja

The United States has disclosed that the cache of seized materials from terrorists during its recent raid in Nigeria was the largest haul of enemy electronic equipment recovered since the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

According to the US government, it had to deploy an additional aircraft to evacuate electronic devices and other intelligence materials seized during the counter-terrorism operation, due to the sheer size of the equipment.

Besides, Washington revealed that US intelligence agencies had begun to examine the devices confiscated to gain deeper insight into the communications, networks and operational methods of the Islamic State (ISIS).

The disclosure was made by the United States Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council, Dr. Sebastian Gorka, during an interview with Marissa Streit, the CEO of PragerU, a US conservative media organisation.

Gorka described the Nigerian mission as one of the most significant counter-terrorism successes recorded by the administration, likening the operation to scenes from a Hollywood action thriller.

He said that particular operation resulted in the killing of 199 jihadists in a single raid, which he described as the largest enemy neutralisation in a single counter-terrorism operation since the September 11 attacks.

“I can talk about this because it has been declassified. The President is not…going around the world like some lunatic neocon saying, ‘we will turn the world into America’.

“But if you’re threatening Americans, or if you’re targeting Christians, he has a very strong message to send to you, whether it was his Christmas Day strike, or three weeks ago, what we did in Nigeria.

“Three weeks ago in Nigeria, I watched it live from the Situation Room. It was like being in a Tom Clancy movie, but it’s better because it’s real. I watched our operatives kill 199 jihadists in one operation.

“Now, why is this important? That is the biggest neutralisation enemy killed in action since September the 11th. 199 jihadists who will not harm Americans again.

“Not only that, from that raid we brought home, we needed an extra plane to bring home all the electronic material that we captured in those camps. The haul was three times bigger than any enemy electronics haul since 9-11.

“That is priceless, because now our experts are taking apart all of that information, looking at how ISIS is communicating with each other. We are so back in the game of counterterrorism. It is just superlative to watch our professionals,” he explained.

Since late 2025, the United States has significantly expanded security cooperation with Nigeria, shifting from largely advisory engagement to a more structured partnership centred on intelligence sharing, counterterrorism operations, institutional reform and military capacity building.

THISDAY recalled that the renewed engagement gathered pace after National Security Adviser (NSA) Nuhu Ribadu led a high-level delegation to Washington in November 2025, where both countries agreed to establish a Nigeria-US Joint Working Group on security.

Apart from the Christmas day bombing of terrorists’ enclaves in the north, one of the most significant achievements was a joint Nigerian-U.S. operation in Borno State that eliminated several Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) militants, including the group’s Deputy Leader, Abu Bakr al-Mainuki.

But the US counter-terrorism chief added that beyond the casualties inflicted on the terrorist group, the intelligence recovered from the operation could prove even more consequential.

The White House official ieclosed further that the electronic devices were currently being analysed by American intelligence agencies as part of efforts to dismantle ISIS networks and prevent future attacks against the United States and its allies.

Gorka argued that the operation reflected a more aggressive counter-terrorism posture under President Trump, insisting that the administration had abandoned what he described as the policy of “watching and waiting.”

He said that in the administration’s first 15 months, American forces killed about 1,031 jihadists globally while also securing the freedom of 106 American hostages without paying ransom. “We are not watching and waiting. We are dealing death to bad people,” he said.

Gorka said the threat posed by extremist groups remained real and pointed to attacks carried out by ISIS and other jihadist organisations across the world, including against Christian communities in Nigeria.

“If you’re threatening Americans, or if you’re targeting Christians because they’re Christians, he has a very strong message to send to you,” Gorka said in reference to President Trump.

Speaking specifically about Africa, Gorka argued that the continent has increasingly become a target for ISIS because of the existence of vast ungoverned territories where extremist groups can regroup after suffering defeats elsewhere.

He stated that many ISIS fighters displaced from Iraq and Syria during Trump’s first administration relocated to Africa after the organisation’s so-called caliphate collapsed.

“Terrorists need ungoverned space. They need somewhere where they can hang out and rebuild. Africa has a lot of ungoverned space. That’s why I focus a lot of my attention on that region of the world where ISIS is trying to reconstitute a caliphate,” he said.

While acknowledging that many African conflicts have local roots involving resources, ethnicity and communal disputes, Gorka argued that ISIS and similar organisations attempt to exploit those grievances by imposing extremist ideologies on existing conflicts.

He said the United States was working with African governments to prevent that strategy from succeeding.

Gorka submitted that the relations between Washington and several African countries had improved significantly under the current administration after what he described as ideological disagreements during the previous U.S. administration.

“We’ve been working intelligently. I sent a team of mine out to Africa to some key states and said, look, we’re not here to tell you what to believe in. But if you’ve got a terrorist threat, that is a threat to us. Let’s work together,” he stated.

Gorka also defended Trump’s decision to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation, describing the group as the ideological foundation of several modern jihadist movements, including ISIS, Al Qaeda and Hamas.

He argued that the designation represented one of the administration’s most consequential counter-terrorism decisions and should have been implemented decades earlier.

The official further expressed concern over what he described as the continued threat posed by radical Islamist organisations to both Africa and the United States, warning that extremist groups could exploit migration routes and weak border controls to expand their reach.

He nevertheless praised ongoing efforts by senior U.S. homeland security officials to tighten border security and disrupt terrorist and cartel activities.

Detailing how the plan to move into Nigeria was arrived at, Gorka stated that Trump never wasted time before approving the exercise immediately it was brought to his attention.

“We told the President, this man has killed Americans and is planning to kill Americans. And we’ve been watching him for a year and a half under the Biden administration.

“The President (Trump) looked up from the resident desk, he looked at us and said, What do you mean we’re watching him? Kill him.

“And as a result, he took out his iconic sharpie pen. He ticked the ‘go box’ on the operational orders we had in front of him. Less than 30 hours later, I’m in the situation room under the West Wing with the National Security Advisor with my colleague from my counterterrorism team.

“And we watched like clockwork at exactly 8.45 in the morning on Saturday, this ISIS leader being permanently removed from the battlefield. The President then declassified the video of that strike. He posted it on Truth Social, it went 120 million likes in like eight hours,” he added.

Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger Republic are the epicenters of jihadist activities in the Sahelian region of West Africa and those are the countries where the United States security forces will get the BIGGEST haul of weapons and they know that. This is why the United States raised concerns in mass media reports 3 years ago that the West African Sahel has become the BIGGEST base and magnet in the whole world for terror jihadist groups from Al-Qaeda, to ISIS, to the deadly Mali-based Tuareg-led Al-Qaeda affiliate called JNIM which is far more dangerous that BH or the breakaway faction called ISWAP.

The debate over the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu’s comments on akara and kulikuli businesses has found its way into a university examination, as a question in a Second Semester 2025/2026 paper at the Prince Abubakar Audu University, Kogi State, tasked students with producing an advocacy advertisement copy around the theme.

The examination question, sighted by our correspondent after it was shared on Facebook by a page identified as Northern Nigeria on Saturday, was set for students of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Communication and Media Studies, sitting the Advertising Copy Writing (MCM 214) paper.

Question one of the paper read in part, “The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has asked you to do an advocacy ad copy with the title, Beyond Akara and Kulikuli Empowerment, with the sole aim of encouraging Nigerian women and youths to embrace small-scale businesses.”

Students were then required to identify four factors to consider in writing the copy, mention three body copy styles, justify the most suitable style for the ad, and sketch the copy with images and text, altogether worth 30 marks out of the total obtainable in the section.

PoliticsRe: "I'll Lead A Revolution Against Fulanis If Attacks Continue" – Prince Erena by AlphaTaikun: 6:22pm On Jul 04
Glimpsetv:
A video posted by popular Niger State-based content creator and activist Prince Erena (@officialprinceerena) has gone viral on X, sparking widespread debate over rising ethnic tensions following recent deadly clashes in parts of Niger State.

In the nearly three-minute video, Prince Erena reacts passionately to the violence, describing it as a serious situation and issuing what he called a "serious warning" to Fulanis in Niger State.

> "If the Fulanis continue to clash with any tribe in Niger State, I, Prince Erena, will lead a revolution movement to chase away Fulanis in Niger State," he says in the video.

He also expressed frustration over what he described as years of peaceful coexistence between local communities and Fulanis, saying many had regarded them as brothers and fellow Muslims before accusing some of attempting to take over their ancestral lands through violent attacks.

His comments come just days after a wave of deadly attacks in Rafi Local Government Area, particularly around Tegina, Tashan Bako, and Kuwan Kasa. According to multiple reports, the violence began after the killing of a Fulani man, triggering retaliatory attacks by suspected armed herders on Kamuku farming communities. Homes were reportedly set ablaze, residents attacked with machetes, and hundreds of people displaced.

While the Nigerian police confirmed at least 18 deaths, local residents and other reports have suggested the death toll could be significantly higher, with reprisal attacks recorded on both sides.

Farmer-herder conflicts have remained a recurring challenge across Nigeria's Middle Belt and parts of the North, often driven by disputes over farmland, grazing routes, and access to natural resources.

Prince Erena has built a large following for his outspoken commentary on insecurity, banditry, and communal violence in Niger State. His latest remarks have resonated with many residents expressing anger over the killings, while also drawing concern from others who fear such rhetoric could further inflame already fragile ethnic tensions.

The video has continued to generate reactions online, highlighting the deep frustration among many residents over the recurring violence while underscoring the urgent need for authorities to address the root causes of the crisis before it escalates further.

My pleasure... I like your deep CLARITY of thought while looking out for the BEST conditions for your younger sister. However, she has to take the final decisions.

Just to add, if you, your younger sister and her potential spouse can listen every Saturday online from anywhere in the world via the mobile app or offline to the fantastic program "Relationship 360" on the Victoria Island, Lagos-based NigeriaInfo 99.3 fm every Saturday from 7 am to 9am with the popular legal practitioner and relationship expert, Olumide Omosebi, they'll both learn a lot about compatibility and even stay away from those who ALWAYS claim in the Churches that "God spoke to them to marry a specific brother or sister in the Church regardless of compatibility." That's pure hocus pocus that has led to a lot of failed marriages among the Christians who have over 70% divorce rates based off of statistics from the Nigerian marriage ecosystem as related by Olumide (who just turned 50 last month). I wish your sister the best as she navigates her way through this turning point in her life as a 31-year-old... NEVER settling for LESS in life.

Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has come a long way. Many people dont know he was once a Bricklayer.

Here he is with 'leveling stick', chilling with his fellow Bricklayers on a building site.

How did he go from being a Bricklayer to becoming a Governor? The story goes that Nwifuru became a loyal aid to an up and coming businessman and aspiring politician called Dave Umahi

Dave Umahi would go on to become deputy Governor and Governor, and took Nwifuru along. Nwifuru became Dave Umahi's annointed political son and handed over to him when his tenure ended

Nwifuru is now Governor of Ebonyi State while Dave Umahi is Minister of works.

And what was gbaja thinking making a disclaimer on a fake govt agency that his own office approved it's budgetary allocation. Shows he not detailed or thorough enough as a person. That office is too big for him, he's running it as if he's the governor of one of those backward states in Nigeria, where the action of the governor must never be questioned.

Except this fraud comes from BAT himself, gbaja should be sacked, he's becoming as embarrassment to this govt.
Succinctly stated.

I stated on this discussion forum too about 3 months ago that 'Femi Gbaja should be removed as President 'Bola Tinubu's COS and replaced with Babatunde Raji-Fashola who was the then Governor 'Bola Tinubu's COS. Subsequently the brilliant Raji-Fashola became the Governor of Lagos State after Tinubu's term ended as the Governor of Lagos State.

'Femi Gbajabiamila seems to be experiencing some mental lethargy in that very important position of the Chief-of-Staff to the President even though I was initially impressed that being a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, he would give President 'Bola Tinubu top-notch day-to-day advice. Gbaja should NEVER allow himself get mentioned in these kinds of situations (including the overt way 'Femi Gbaja handled the Desmond Olusola Elliot reelection episode in the public domain) even if the allegations are FALSE. You can see how that fake love facade quickly faded away after Anioma people rejected them and Ned's useless capitulation deal with Ohaneze and SE political figures.

Now they will insult Anioma people more than they do Ikwere who have since rejected them.

But the most disturbing is how they never ever respect other people's rights to self determination but want to control the destiny of others by swallowing them up using cultural genocide.
They have already started insulting the Dein of Agbor and the Asagba of Asaba among other prominent folks from the Anioma area for simply rejecting any inclusion in the South East.

Those secessionist trolls and irredentists have no regard for the kingship system in Anioma which is highly revered in specific Anioma communities and you can imagine what the secessionist gangs would do to those Anioma kings if Anioma State is grouped with the South East.
FamilyRe: Relationship Dilemma by AlphaTaikun: 5:02pm On Jul 04
Gentlesoul2021:
Good day N'Lander

I need genuine opinions on a relationship dilemma.

My younger sister is 31 years old. She's highly educated with a master's degree, works with an NGO as a Programme Coordinator and Mental Health Counselor, and is also a skilled fashion designer with equipment worth over ₦2 million. She's hardworking, focused, and has consistently supported our family. Her job has taken her across different states, exposing her to diverse experiences and opportunities. Above all, she's deeply committed to her Christian faith.

She recently met a fellow church brother who has expressed serious interest in marrying her. However, he left school after Primary Six and works as a traditional window louvre fabricator. While there's absolutely nothing wrong with learning a trade, he has had opportunities to upgrade his skills to modern aluminium fabrication but hasn't pursued them. Instead, he seems more interested in becoming a pastor or working in a church, though he currently has no clear or realistic path to achieving that.

Another concern is the family dynamic. My mother and the young man's mother serve in the same church unit. On several occasions, whenever he goes out for a job, his mother would call him back or redirect him for other errands, and she would even mention these things to my mother. This has given us the impression that she relies heavily on him, raising concerns about the level of responsibility he already carries within his family and how that might affect his future marriage.

My mother strongly opposes the relationship, believing the gap in education, career progression, ambition, life direction, and even family expectations is too significant. I understand her concerns and tend to agree, but it also raises an important question.

Can love alone sustain a marriage when there's such a wide difference in education, ambition, exposure, career growth, and family responsibilities? Or should long-term compatibility, shared vision, emotional maturity, and the ability to build a stable future together carry more weight than love?

I'd genuinely appreciate respectful and honest opinions from both married and unmarried people. Please keep the discussion civil and objective—this isn't about looking down on anyone because of their educational background or occupation, but about understanding what truly makes a marriage work in the long run.
Both of them have to be on the same page in terms of intellect regardless of the fact that your younger sister is 31. He has to be an ambitious guy by upgrading himself to the aluminum fabrication business since that's a very profitable business model. Failure to upgrade his skills is a serious red flag for me as a man.

Your sister can assist him to upgrade his career path by having one-on-one discussions with him but the plan to gravitate to full pastoring is another concern. He needs to get his career going to bring in sustainable income and NOT depend on pastoring which can be demanding. Period.

Caskets displayed in Tehran

Khamenei's flag-draped coffin sat at Tehran's Grand Mosalla alongside family members killed in the Israeli airstrike that came in the first moments of the war on Feb. 28.

The dead being honored include a son-in-law, his eldest daughter, a 14-month-old granddaughter and the wife of Iran's new Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the previous leader who remains in hiding after reportedly being wounded in the attack.

Religious leaders and foreign dignitaries walked up to Khamenei’s casket as a military band played or a man sang prayers. Iran's Parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and President Masoud Pezeshkian, key leaders in the country's civilian government, all paid their respects.

Video published by Iranian state media showed an earlier mourning ceremony Thursday night for Khamenei. The black-clad mourners, whom state media identified as coming from families of those who lost loved ones in the 12-day war in 2025 and the recent Iran war, threw scarves and other items for attendants to brush against the coffin, a common practice in Iran seen as a blessing.

Later, state media showed images of Khamenei’s casket draped by a red flag with white calligraphy reading “Ya Hussein,” a Shiite expression in remembrance of the 7th-century martyrdom of the Prophet Muhammad’s grandson. It had been flying over the Imam Hussein golden-domed shrine in Karbala, Iraq. The flag also traditionally symbolizes both the spilled blood of someone unjustly killed and a call for vengeance.

The SE is too small to have equal numbers of states with the SW and NW. also, Bayelsa is currently the smallest state in Nigeria, you can’t further create another West Ijaw state out of it for the Ijaw people.

By Odo Oya, I’m sure you’re trying to put Kwara and Okun together into a state. If that is your intention, then it should remain a state in the North Central and not south west. We will create Ibadan state out of the south west to get to 7. What you’ve proposed is simply an attempt to shortchanged the south west.
NO!

The entire Yorubaland (including those in Kwara and Kogi States in the North Central of Nigeria) MUST be merged together with the South Western States of Nigeria from here on out. From Jebba in Kwara North down to Lagos State must be in the same region. Enough of the British Colonial balkanization of Yorubaland and the lands of other ethnic groups. The Yorubas have 12 LGAs in Kwara State and 4 LGAs belong to the Nupes and Baribas of Kwara North out of the total 16 LGAs in Kwara State and they can be merged with Niger State. Period.

States should be granted on demand as the Midwest was granted in 1963 but a state with 2 million dollars in revenue should not by any means expect to have the same number of senators as another state with 20 million dollars in revenue

Western Nigeria messed up in 1960 by agreeing to join Nigeria when it was far more advanced than the rest of Nigeria

Western Nigeria had a budget of 55 million pounds in 1960, the North had 7 million pounds and the East had 12 million pounds. Yet our people in the west agreed to go into such a union and we and Nigeria at large are yet to recover from that decision

I alway say it, the south dey suffer when it comes to food.

The quality of food a very rich man in the south eat, is almost the same or even of less quality than that of a poor/average earner in the middle belt.

South no get food normally, to eat varieties and eat well, you need to be wealthy. I was in Jos with my fiance in December, she went to buy bell pepper and asked the woman to give her 1k bell pepper, the woman asked her what she is using that much pepper for? She says she wants to cook, normally one small bell pepper in Lagos is #500, so she thought she was probably getting maybe 5 for 1k in Jos, but when the woman started putting, my girlfriend had to remind her again that it's 1k own she asked for o.

She came back with a full black nylon of bell pepper and it got spoilt at the end of the day, and this is in the street o, not even the market.

Before we left, she went to the market to buy 1k bell pepper, she came back with 2 big nylon of bell pepper, i gave her 15k to buy foodstuffs, na big Ghana must go and plenty nylons we use come back, she had to chatter a marwa to bring it back home, and my friends wife still said they cheated her.

I had to giveaway some of the foodstuff cos I no dey for extraordinary charge at the airport.
Very profound FACTS.

I am basing my population estimate on the assumption that everyone that needs NIN has done it which includes all children sitting for WAEC upwards and everyone with a bank account. For voters registration, the system will knock your registration out if it is duplicated. Active sim cards too are used by real people who recharge the sim cards. All the data are biometric backed and they tell approximately the same story. They are as valid as any population census.

You should understand that you can't focus on Yoruba land and say it is full of immigrant. If you stop a taxi in Onitsha or hire a bricklayer, aluminium worker and etc the person is most likely Yoruba. The market in Onitsha have sections dominated by the Yoruba. So don't come with the notion that only Yoruba land has non indigenes. The Yoruba in other places outnumber the non natives in Yoruba land by far and Lagos is hugely populated but it isn't the most cosmopolitan city in Nigeria.

My point is that the population of the SW is less than the population of Yoruba in Nigeria. The Yoruba are traditionally city dwellers and they are in cities all over the country

The people that are cheated by population census are the Yoruba. Do you accept that before Igbos were known to the Yoruba, the population of the SE would not have exceeded by much if at all the population of Oyo state? Nigerian abracadabra gave five states to the SE and one to Oyo state that contained the two largest cities in west Africa in the nineteenth century ie Ogbomosho and Ibadan. We are not talking of Oyo and the other numerous towns yet o! then the villages. There is no doubt which group is being cheated in Nigeria. Use even any output you can think of to judge from number of lawyers to number of Profs to number of schools and etc. There is no debate unless you don't want to be honest. It is the Yoruba that is the casualty of the fraudulent census in Nigeria
Very brilliant submissions.

Indeed, millions of Yoruba folks have lived for centuries in Ghana and Cote D'Ivoire and for decades in Port Harcourt, Jos, Old Gongola State now Taraba and Adamawa, Niger State, Kano State, Kaduna State, Katsina State, etc, aside from the indigenous Yorubas of Kogi, Kwara, Edo (Usen folks in Ovia South West have an Oba who is a direct descent of Afelogiyan (Oranmiyan's OLDER biological brother. It was from Usen that Oranmiyan left to become the FIRST EVER Oba of Benin as affirmed in his 2016 coronation speech by the current Oba of Benin BUT Oranmiyan did NOT stay long as Oba) and the Usen people strongly affirm their Ile Ife ancestry and they speak the Ikale dialect of Yoruba language in Ondo State. Ogbese and Utese are the other Yoruba communities in Ovia South West of Edo State).

AhmedPeacemaker:
As of October 1 2026, Nigeria’s six geo-political zones will become official and constitutional organs of government.
This means that there will be four tiers of administration in Nigeria - Federal, Zonal, State, and Local governments

[2] Nigeria will have six geo-political zones, with each being made up of seven states. Our constitution will prohibit the creation of any more states after these 42

[3] As part of this restructure, we will abolish the federal allocation regime and replace it with resource control under which states will remain the federating units. Revenue distribution will be as follows - States: 50%; Federation account: 20%; Geo-political zones: 15%; National trust fund: 15%. We shall gradually migrate towards this to achieve our targeted goal by 2040

[4] Geopolitical zones will be responsible for maintaining regional police forces to augment the activities of the Nigerian Police Force

[5] Each geopolitical zone will be constitutionally obliged to generate, distribute, and transmit electricity within its domain

[6] Every year, the chairman of the geopolitical zone will rotate among the six governors within it. A chief executive will be appointed to manage what will be a civil service structure

[7] Ultimate authority for the governing of each geo-political zone rests with the committee of governors.
There will also be committees of commissioners to deal with matters such as education, health, housing, transport, security, etc

[8] Each geopolitical zone authority will be responsible for secondary specialist healthcare. They will build specialist hospitals in areas such as oncology, HIV/Aids, renal failure, dementia, reproductive health, dermatology, etc

[9] These will be the 42 states that make up the six geopolitical zones:

South-South
[1] Bayelsa State - Yenagoa
[2] West Izon State - Patani
[3] Rivers State - Port Harcourt
[4] Cross River State - Calabar
[5] Akwa Ibom State - Uyo
[6] Edo State - Benin
[7] Delta State - Warri

Northeast
[1] Mambilla State - Gashaka
[2] Taraba State - Jalingo
[3] Adamawa State - Yola
[4] Borno State - Maiduguri
[5] Yobe State - Damaturu
[6] Bauchi State - Bauchi
[7] Gombe State - Gombe

Southeast
[1] Anioma State - Asaba
[2] Orashi State - Omoku
[3] Anambra State - Awka
[4] Imo State - Owerri
[5] Enugu State - Enugu
[6] Abia State - Umuahia
[7] Ebonyi State - Abakaliki

North-Central
[1] Abuja State - Abuja
[2] Gurara State - Kafanchan
[3] Benue State - Makurdi
[4] Plateau State - Jos
[5] Nasarawa State - Lafia
[6] Kogi State - Lokoja
[7] Niger State - Minna

Southwest
[1] Odo Oya State - Ilorin
[2] Oyo State - Ibadan
[3] Ogun State - Abeokuta
[4] Lagos State - Ikeja
[5] Ondo - Akure
[6] Ekiti - Ado-Ekiti
[7] Osun - Oshogbo

Northwest
[1] Sokoto State - Sokoto
[2] Kebbi State - Birnin Kebbi
[3] Kaduna State - Kaduna
[4] Katsina State - Katsina
[5] Kano State - Kano
[6] Jigawa State - Dutse
[7] Zamfara State - Gusua

[10] If any state is unable to meet its running costs, its geopolitical zone is constitutionally obliged to step in and bail it out. If not, the federal government will declare a state of emergency in that state"
Southwest
[1] Odo Oya State - Ilorin
[2] Oyo State - Ibadan
[3] Ogun State - Abeokuta
[4] Lagos State - Ikeja
[5] Ondo - Akure
[6] Ekiti - Ado-Ekiti
[7] Osun - Oshogbo

Is the list above with Ilorin as the capital of Oda Oya State TRUE?

It BETTER be so.

However, Anioma State CANNOT be in the South East region because of the multiethnic origins of the Anioma people from Benin-Edo, Esan-Edo, Yoruba (Olukumis of Aniocha North who settled on their land first in Delta State located near the border with Esanland in Edo State), Igalas of Ebu and other Igala-associated towns such as Asaba where the current Asagba of Asaba has affirmed Asaba's IGALA ethnic paternal ancestry from Kogi State,

The vast majority of Anioma folks agree with Anioma State creation BUT have long rejected being located in the South East of Nigeria. The Federal Government of Nigeria MUST take note of these FACTS and not rush things here. Period.

PoliticsRe: The Kwankwaso Illusion: Kano Is Not The North. by AlphaTaikun: 1:20am On Jul 04
CharlesCNG:
This is deflection, not rebuttal.

“Lagos was not the South-West in 2023” does not answer the argument that Kano is not the North.

In fact, you have simply repeated my point in another form: one state is not the same thing as an entire region.

The discussion is not about whether Lagos represents the South-West. It does not. The discussion is about the claim that Kwankwaso will “deliver the North” for Obi.

That claim collapses under arithmetic.

Kwankwaso got almost one million votes in Kano, but outside Kano his northern numbers were very thin. So the burden is on you to explain how a man who could not deliver most of the North for himself as presidential candidate will suddenly deliver the same North for Peter Obi as running mate.

Bringing Lagos into it is like being asked why your roof is leaking and replying that your neighbour’s fence is short.

If your point is that Obi won Lagos in 2023 ( by less than 10,000 votes) but did not win the South-West, then thank you — you have just strengthened my argument. A big performance in one strategic state does not mean control of a whole geopolitical zone.

Exactly.

Kano is important. Lagos is important. But Kano is not the North, just as Lagos is not the South-West.

So please, address the actual point: where are the northern votes Kwankwaso delivered outside Kano?
