Levels1: Cambodia Orders African Nationals To Leave By May 31 Or Face Jail Term, $8,000 Fine
The Royal Government of Cambodia has issued a stern immigration directive ordering African nationals currently residing in the country to leave before May 31, 2026, warning that anyone found remaining in the country illegally after the deadline would face arrest, imprisonment and heavy financial penalties.
The directive is contained in an “Official Notice” issued by the General Department of Immigration under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.
The notice, addressed to “all African nationals in the Kingdom of Cambodia (Ghana, Kenya, Cameroon, Uganda and others),” stated that an existing waiver granted to affected foreigners would officially expire on May 31, 2026."
The move is expected to affect several African nationals currently residing in Cambodia under temporary immigration waivers or overstayed residency arrangements.
According to the Cambodian authorities in its address to affected Africans, “the waiver granted to you will officially end on 31st of May 2026.”
The government further instructed that “all foreign nationals whose fines have been cleared must leave Cambodia on or before 31st of May 2026.”
The notice warned that any African national who remains in Cambodia beyond the deadline would face severe legal consequences.
It stated, “Any foreign national who enters, remains or is found in Cambodia from 1st of June 2026 will be arrested at the airport or at any location.”
The authorities added that offenders “shall serve a jail term of 2 (two) years; and pay a penalty of $8,000 (Eight Thousand US Dollars) before being allowed to leave Cambodia.”
The Cambodian government also disclosed that nationwide arrests of undocumented foreigners would commence immediately after the expiration of the deadline.
According to the statement, “The Cambodia Police will start arresting any foreigner at any hideout in Cambodia from 1st of June 2026 for overstay and will hand over to the immigration authorities for legal action.”
The government urged all affected persons to comply strictly with the directive, stressing that violations of Cambodia’s immigration laws would not be tolerated.
“All concerned are hereby informed to strictly comply with this notice. The Royal Government of Cambodia will not tolerate any violation of our immigration laws,” the notice added.
The notice was issued by Lt. Gen. Som Sopheak, Director General of the General Department of Immigration, and approved by Gen. Sar Sokha, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior.
DiamondJLove: I have come to realize that tasting shawarma is one of the many things I have never done in my life.
As a young lady in her late 20s, people tend to laugh at me when I say it.They act as if eating shawarma makes us complete as young ladies, somebody ones told me that"don't let people hear it".
Anyway I prefer local dishes, give me better fufu and egusi/achi/afang/ogbono soup with original palm wine, I will pray for you forever.
What's so special about eating shawarma?
The chicken shawarma flavor with the right fillings is tastier that other varieties of shawarma. Go for that to start with as an occasional sandwich takeaway.
3kay945: As a Yoruba Family, we never knew the existence of this lovely stuff.
I was privileged to experience its lovely taste one day while still a teenager, I went to eat in our neighbours house, I dont know their tribe but since many people generalised people from the south as Ibo, so I will assume too.
It was very lovely, still cant forget the taste till now. It is over forty or so years ago.
I think I have ate once or twice after that but can't recall those.
You make it seem in your post that Yoruba folks of the riverine and Atlantic Ocean waters don't eat periwinkles in their cuisines. I'm referencing the riverine Yorubas such as the Ilaje-Yoruba folks for instance (who are traditionally indigenous to Ondo State) but who have a massive spread in fishing communities from Lagos, parts of Benin Republic, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom right into Cameroon.
Pinnup: As a jobless, hungry and frustrated Nigerian job seeker, I travelled for a job related matter to stay with a friend in his one room apartment. I realized this guy does literally everything with periwinkle. He cooks literally everything with periwinkle. Soup, rice, beans and even sometimes, he prepares it eat it alone without combining with anything.
I am a lover of periwinkle but it seems I met someone who love periwinkle more than me.
Who else love periwinkle and how often do you cook with it?
Meanwhile living in this economy without a job is worst than hell. God forbid what I am currently going through. I need a job. I need love. Give me a job and show me love please before I kpai.
"Shelled periwinkle" in afang (and any soup) is the name of the game.
DrMB: New data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows that between April 2025 and April 2026, the price of a 12.5kg cooking gas cylinder spiked across almost every single geopolitical zone in Nigeria, with one surprising exception. While the North-Central and North-East zones saw massive jumps of up to 18%, the South-East actually recorded a 2.17% drop in prices. 👇 LET'S TALK! Which state/zone are you buying from right now, and how much is a 12.5kg refill at your local station? Are these official numbers matching your reality on the ground? “Must everybody be a presidential candidate or governorship candidates? It’s important as opposition to bring a stronger coalition to fight the sitting government. You can’t defeat a status quo by splitting into different groups.”
fergie001: President Bola Tinubu’s ally and elder statesman, Aremo Olusegun Osoba, has alleged a gang-up against the President in Southern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The gang-up, he alleged, is aimed at fielding different presidential candidates from the region with a view to dividing votes and drastically reducing Tinubu’s margin.
Osoba, a veteran journalist and former Governor of Ogun State, spoke at the Presidential Lodge, Abeokuta, during the announcement of the result of the APC presidential primaries.
In the primaries held across the 20 local government areas of Ogun State, Tinubu polled 322,485 votes to emerge winner.
Governor Dapo Abiodun, who served as the state coordinator and collation officer, announced the result in the presence of Osoba; Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziak Salako; the APC governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Adeola; Senator representing Ogun Central, Shuaib Afolabi Salisu; State APC Chairman, Yemi Sanusi; among other APC leaders.
Announcing the results, Abiodun said Tinubu polled 322,485 votes to defeat his rival, Stanley Osifo, who scored zero votes.
Speaking shortly before the announcement, Osoba asked APC members to prepare for the “real election” coming next January.
Osoba described insinuations among APC members that Tinubu has no opponent as a misleading narrative.
“The enemies are many,” Osoba said, warning APC stakeholders against complacency.
The APC leader particularly alleged that the ambitions of former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, and former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom he said has been waiting quietly in the background, are all part of attempts to divide Southern votes against Tinubu.
He said: “I want to appeal to us all ahead of the coming election: let us not be caught off guard. Many people are saying we have no opponents, but that is a misleading narrative. The enemies are many.
“As we approach the next election, there is a strong gang-up against us. They are plotting to field several candidates from our region in the South. Obi has emerged, Jonathan is quietly waiting in the background, and Makinde has been grandstanding. All these appear to be attempts to divide votes from the South.
“So, I want to passionately appeal to everyone to be prepared to vote massively. Do you agree with me? Please, I am sincerely pleading with you.
Eriokanmi: GRV should support uncle Doherty cos that's the indigenous lagosians candidate, our candidate. GRV should also apologise to the yorubas on his comment about us which he made out of carelessness cos we respect culture and our elders. This may be the reason his uncle didn't support him in 2023.
Then after uncle Doherty's tenure he's welcome. He's part of us and we can't deny him his right to govern, unlike someone whose dad was a king in ijebu and from ijebu but wants to govern after doing deputy for 8 good years. That's the height of greed and. Our mumu don do and well stop that.
Point of correction and for historical CLARITY.
Obafemi Hamzat's father [who oversaw the abandoned Lagos Metroline and was the then Commissioner of Works under Alhaji Abdulateef Jakande from 1979 to 1983] is NOT an Ijebu. It's Dr. Obafemi Hamzat's mother that is from Epe which is originally Ijebu. Therefore he is eligible to contest for the Governorship elections. Ijebuland extends from Lagos State (Ibeju-Lekki, Epe, Ikorodu, Ajah) right into Ogun State. Aworiland also extends from Lagos State right into Ogun State. So indigenship is fluid as communities of the same Yoruba ethnicity straddle both sides of the Lagos and Ogun borders.
Second, 'Funso Doherty himself is of Ogun State origin from Ilaro/Yewa axis. His ancestor was of royal descent and was taken as a prisoner of war in the 1800s and sold into slavery but was fortunate just like like Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther and others to have been liberated from slave ships like many Yorubas of the interior and set free in Freetown. Doherty and the Rhodes-Vivours were NEVER indigenous to Isale Eko or of Awori-Yoruba descent. Their ancestries are from the Yoruba interior. Rhodes-Vivour is a compound name of two different families of which the Maternal side is Yoruba (Rhodes) BUT the ancestry of the paternal side (Vivour) is opaque and NOT likely of Yoruba origin even though the original male Vivour ancestor did NOT settle in Lagos Island but was living in one Portuguese-speaking Island where he owned plantations and was a merchant.
It's the same with Desmond Olusola Elliot who is from Olowogbowo where many Saros (Yoruba returnees from Sierra Leone came back home to settle after the slave trade).
Last but NOT least, I like the FACT that you told Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour to apologize for his highly IRRESPONSIBLE comments he made on his X posts which got dug up. He has been cocky about apologizing and folks haven't forgotten his infractions about NOT thinking in Yoruba. That was a blunder from someone who wanted to be the Governor of a highly traditional state such as Lagos State regardless of the presence of a cosmopolitan feel as an international business hub. His younger married sister Vivour-Adeniyi who was born in the late 1980s is currently in charge of a major Lagos State Government agency in charge of domestic violence and she is loved, well-spoken and refined than her older brother who tends to be uncouth. She has more political leverage than Gbadebo tbh because of her respectful attitude.
meobizy: Who? All these Gen X rappers. I never listened to most. Anything from 95 and before, count me out.
You have to listen to the tracks of some of my favorite rap OGs from the 1980s such as my main men LL Cool J and Kool Moe Dee just so you know the kind of stuff the are lyrically made of!
The original rap OGs who laid the foundations of rap are from the early 1980s. Those were the folks I listened to from back in the early 1980s to the late 1980s into the 1990s. The later rappers who evolved from the 1990s usually give a lot of props to the 1980s rap pioneers who are the Gen X MCs who laid the foundations of rap culture.
Think of the rock-solid Generation X rappers from the 1980s...
1. LL Cool J (who is still spitting out mature rhymes to the delight of younger Americans who are tired of the violence in gangster rap)
2. Kool Moe Dee 3. Ice T 4. MC Hammer 🔨 5. Vanilla Ice 6. Heavy D and the Boys... Etc
naptu2: Rap star Rob Base, known for hip-hop classic It Takes Two, dies aged 59
Rap artist Rob Base, best known for the 1980s hip-hop classic It Takes Two, has died after a bout of cancer aged 59.
The musician, whose real name was Robert Ginyard, created the hit song with his musical partner DJ E-Z Rock, and it is credited with helping to take hip-hop to mainstream success in dance clubs and the pop charts.
Base died "surrounded by family after a private battle with cancer" on Friday, just days after his 59th birthday, according to a post on his official Instagram account.
"Thank you for the music, the memories, and the moments that became the soundtrack to our lives," it said.
"Rob's music, energy, and legacy helped shape a generation and brought joy to millions around the world.
"Beyond the stage, he was a loving father, family man, friend, and creative force whose impact will never be forgotten."
A Harlem native, Base was part of a hip-hop duo with DJ E-Z Rock, a musical force that sprung to fame in 1988 with the release of It Takes Two.
The song quickly climbed to number three on the Billboard Hot Dance/Club Songs chart and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
The track has been sampled by Snoop Dogg and the Black Eyed Peas, and appeared in films like the 2009 hit romantic comedy The Proposal, starring Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds. It was also featured in the iconic video game series Grand Theft Auto in its San Andreas release in 2004.
Tributes began pouring in for Base on Friday evening.
"He WAS internationally known and he DID rock the microphone," comedian Dane Cook wrote on X.
"One of my favorite songs ever. Rob Base filled the airwaves with hit music. RIP man."
NFL Hall-of-Fame football star Deion Sanders wrote: "Prayers to Rob Base entire family and loved ones. He was a legend to me."
DJ E-Z Rock - whose real name was Rodney Bryce - died in April 2014 from diabetes related complications, aged 56.
He and Base became friends in the fourth grade, according to Rolling Stone.
They released their first single, DJ Interview, in 1986, before dropping their smash hit It Takes Two.
Base told Rolling Stone in a 2014 interview the song's creation was spontaneous and that he was shocked by its success.
"With It Takes Two, we were at a friend's house and we were just going through a bunch of records," he said.
"We had to go to the studio that night and we didn't have anything prepared, but we found and liked the Lyn Collins sample that night and went to the studio," Base continued.
"We didn't think that it would cross over and be as big as it became."
The rap OGs are gradually leaving the physical state. Coolio passed on at 59, then Rob Base too passed on at 59. Cancer is one thing that stem cell therapy researchers have to really work on to get a final cure. Some types of cancers already have cures through stem cell treatments. Stay in power Rob.

The best and easiest way to make semo is to first dilute in water the same way you'd pap or custard. Or simply dilute with water in a pot and put straight on the heat. Keep stirring until it begins to thicken up or add more semo as desired to thiken it up.
Add a lil water, reduce heat and allow to cook for 3-5 mins. Give the final mix and it's ready to serve.
Absolutely well said. That's how I learned to prepare proper semo back in the day with the hack... Just mix or liquify in water and then stir while it thickens. Voila you have your non-lumpy semolina ready.
SeePerson92: It can be sugary, because it is not well cooked, it's carbohydrate, so it's breakdown is sugar component. But seriously it is the easiest food for me. I eat semo every day for the past 15 years. If you want to know how to prepare it well , I can teach you.
AnonPoet: A member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has criticised former governors Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso over their decision to leave the ADC coalition for the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).
Both opposition figures recently exited the coalition under the ADC to join the NDC, a move Okonkwo described as insincere.
"Let me say they are political conmen. I am talking about Peter Obi and Kwankwaso,” Okonkwo said while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday.
“They came into the coalition on their own and they said coalition is the best and only method to send Tinubu packing by their own words and on their own without any reason, they left for NDC, is that not being a conman?”
Okonkwo alleged that Obi and Kwankwaso left the ADC because they were unwilling to participate in the party’s primary election.
According to him, anyone who leaves the ADC coalition is indirectly supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He, however, maintained that the exit of Obi and Kwankwaso would not significantly affect the coalition’s objective of unseating the ruling party in 2027.
‘South-East, South-South Will Align With Coalition’
The ADC chieftain also claimed that the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones would vote differently in 2027 in a way that would favour the coalition.
He said the two regions would align with the coalition and the North to vote against Tinubu.
“From 2015 when Goodluck Jonathan lost the election because of the South-South, South-East, they have been marginalized by successive presidents because they did not align with them.
“In 2027, the South-South and South-East will align with the coalition party, with the north and when they align, they will win Tinubu and when they win Tinubu, all the marginalisation will come to an end,” he said.
Okonkwo added that the ADC coalition would allow all aspirants to participate freely in its primary election and support whoever emerges as the candidate.
According to him, political parties that had adopted such an approach in the past had gone on to win general elections.
‘Why Obi Will Lose South-East’
Okonkwo also argued that Obi, who won overwhelmingly in the South-East under the Labour Party in the 2023 election, would not enjoy the same support in 2027.
“I am trying to tell you why Peter Obi will lose the entire South-East. Have you not heard of the slogan, Obi or nothing? First of all, that slogan is an abomination culturally in Igbo land.
“In Igbo land, there is something we call somadina, it means I will not be the only person that will thrive, I will not be the only person that will succeed, I will not be the only person that will live. And now, Peter Obi or nothing,” he said.
Okonkwo said he had nothing personal against Obi or any other presidential hopeful, stressing that his primary interest was ensuring that Nigeria gets a good president.
Obi and Kwankwaso are political con*men, they came into the coalition and said that it is only way to defeat Tinubu but because they are afraid of primaries, they left without a reason, looking at Obi for instance, in 2019 he was the Vice President of Atiku Abubakar, his chief campaign manager in the south. Only for him and his toxic followers to say Atiku Abubakar is not qualified in 2027 after he has brought you to national politics."
