CelebritiesLagos Court Restrains Baba Mohbad, Yomi Fabiyi, Others From Speaking On Omowunmi by alphonsojidebab(op): 8:30pm On Oct 01, 2025
Lagos Court Restrains Baba Mohbad, Yomi Fabiyi, Others From Speaking on Omowunmi and Son Liam

A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, Lagos, has issued a restraining order against five individuals — Baba Mohbad, Bukky Jesse, Yomi Fabiyi, Larry Omodia, and Adewale Mariam — barring them from making any public comments or inciting actions concerning late singer Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Aloba, and their son, Liam. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
One-Year Restriction to Protect Wunmi and Liam

According to the court ruling, the individuals are prohibited from issuing statements, engaging in online discussions, or inciting the public against Omowunmi and her child for a period of one year. The directive also forbids them from subjecting Wunmi and Liam to bullying, harassment, or threats in any form.

This legal intervention follows ongoing disputes and heated controversies surrounding the late singer’s family since his passing. The court emphasized that the order is necessary to protect the privacy, dignity, and emotional well-being of the mother and child while preventing further escalation of public harassment.
Why the Court Took Action

The judge highlighted that excessive public commentary and online debates had the potential to expose Omowunmi and Liam to further emotional distress. By silencing individuals who have been outspoken on the matter, the court aims to reduce misinformation, maintain public order, and protect the family from defamatory narratives.
Public Reactions Online

The ruling has sparked intense reactions across Nigerian social media.

Supporters believe the restraining order is a much-needed measure to safeguard the late Mohbad’s immediate family from harassment.

Critics, however, argue that such restrictions may limit freedom of speech and set a precedent for silencing public opinion.

The debate highlights the delicate balance between protecting vulnerable individuals and upholding constitutional rights in Nigeria’s evolving digital age.
What This Means Going Forward

With this ruling, Omowunmi and Liam are legally shielded from negative public statements by the named parties until at least late 2026. Any violation of the order could result in contempt charges or additional penalties.

The case also sets a noteworthy example of how Nigerian courts are increasingly addressing issues of online bullying, harassment, and defamation in high-profile matters.

PoliticsMay Nigeria Keep Happening To Me — Reno Omokri by alphonsojidebab(op): 5:48am On Oct 01, 2025
“May Nigeria Keep Happening to Me” — Reno Omokri Urges Citizens to Celebrate National Progress

Former presidential aide and social commentator, Reno Omokri, has urged Nigerians to adopt a more positive outlook toward the country, declaring that he hopes “Nigeria keeps happening” to him. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

His statement comes amid renewed debates around the phrase “Nigeria happened,” which recently trended following the tragic passing of ARISE News correspondent, Somtochukwu Maduagwu. While many use the phrase to highlight hardship and dysfunction, Omokri insists Nigeria also offers plenty of reasons to be proud.
Reno Omokri on Nigeria’s Recent Achievements

Highlighting the nation’s progress, Omokri pointed out key milestones that often go unnoticed:

Power Generation Record: Nigeria recently hit a peak of 5,801.84 MW, with a maximum daily energy output of 128,370.75 MWh, the highest in its history.

Refined Petroleum Exports: The country has become a net exporter of refined petroleum products, a feat achieved under only three civilian governments — Yar’Adua, Jonathan, and Tinubu.

Economic Growth: Nigeria’s economy expanded by $67 billion in just two years, signaling resilience amid global economic uncertainty.

Naira Purchasing Power: According to Omokri, the naira still holds stronger purchasing power compared to several African currencies, contrary to the narrative of total decline.

For Omokri, these achievements deserve equal recognition alongside Nigeria’s ongoing struggles.

A Call for Balanced Perspectives
Omokri stressed that hardship is not unique to Nigeria, reminding citizens that challenges exist worldwide.

“Every year in America, 20,000 people are murdered. That is more than twice the murder rate in Nigeria,” he said, urging Nigerians to put local difficulties into a global context.

He argued that focusing only on the negatives distorts reality and fuels unnecessary despair. Instead, citizens should celebrate progress while continuing to demand accountability from leaders.

“We Love Bad News” — Omokri Criticises Negativity Bias

The former presidential aide also criticised what he described as Nigerians’ obsession with negative news.

“We can choose to look at the negatives, but there are many positive things happening in Nigeria that we refuse to project because we love bad news,” he noted.

Omokri encouraged a mindset shift — recognising the country’s gains does not erase its flaws, but it helps foster national pride and constructive civic engagement.

Countering the “Nigeria Happened” Narrative

Omokri’s remarks serve as a counterbalance to the fatalistic “Nigeria happened” phrase, which has become shorthand for misfortune. By declaring “May Nigeria keep happening to me,” he reframed the expression into a message of hope, optimism, and patriotism.

His comments highlight the need for Nigerians to embrace a balanced discourse — acknowledging challenges while also celebrating incremental progress that reflects the nation’s potential.

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have arrested a security guard, identified as Godday, over allegations of abducting and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in the Mothercat axis of Trans-Amadi, Port Harcourt.

According to reports, the suspect was apprehended last Tuesday by officers of the Amadi Police Division with support from security operatives of a nearby bank. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Speaking with journalists, the victim’s mother revealed that she had sent her daughter to withdraw money from an ATM when the guard allegedly dragged the teenager into the bank where he worked and attacked her.

“On Saturday, September 20, 2025, around 1 pm, I wasn’t feeling well, so I gave my daughter money for transportation and asked her to help me withdraw cash. After some time, I called her but she didn’t pick up. When she finally answered, her voice was very low, and she said she was on her way home,” the distraught mother narrated.

BusinessWhy Every Nigerian Believes They Can Start A Business From Scratch (and Fail Hil by alphonsojidebab(op): 8:12am On Sep 27, 2025
Why Every Nigerian Believes They Can Start a Business From Scratch (and Fail Hilariously)

Alphonso Olajide Babatunde September 27, 2025

Nigeria: the land where ambition meets optimism… and sometimes chaos. Every week, social media lights up with friends, colleagues, and even strangers announcing their latest business venture. From “Organic Shea Butter for Every Home” to “Handmade Earrings That Will Change Your Life,” Nigerians believe they can start a business from scratch—and the confidence is unshakable. But the journey? Often hilarious. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
1. The “I Saw It Online” Entrepreneur

Somewhere in Lagos, a young Nigerian sees a viral TikTok video about someone selling homemade candles and immediately declares:

“I’m quitting my job. Candle business time!”

Two weeks later, their candles smell like burnt socks, their Instagram page has 20 followers, and they’re already blaming the government for lack of support.
2. The Family “Investor”

Every Nigerian startup comes with a mandatory family pitch:

Uncle: “How much do you need?”

Cousin: “I can give 5,000.”

Aunt: “Make sure you give me 50% of the profits.”

Despite the small investment, Nigerian entrepreneurs act like Elon Musk—with zero marketing plan and minimal capital.
3. The “Business Plan” That Doesn’t Exist

Many Nigerians start businesses with a plan so detailed it can fit on a napkin:

“Step 1: Sell product. Step 2: Make money. Step 3: Retire young.”

Sometimes, “Step 1” is simply buying items from Alaba Market and hoping customers magically appear.
4. Social Media: The Business School

Nothing screams “legit entrepreneur” like posting products on Instagram or X. The hashtags fly:

#HustleNaija #SupportSmallBusiness #BuyFromMe

Even when no one buys, the post gets 50 likes from your mom, your aunt, and one random cousin you barely know, and suddenly the entrepreneur feels like the next Jeff Bezos.
5. Hilarious Failures (and Lessons)

The Nigerian business journey is full of funny, relatable fails:

A guy sells plantain chips only for birds to eat half the stock.

A lady launches a perfume line but forgets the caps—spillage everywhere.

A man tries importing gadgets but orders from a fake website—hello, cardboard boxes full of rocks.

Despite all these, the optimism never dies. In Nigeria, failure is just the first chapter of the success story.
The Takeaway

Every Nigerian may think they can start a business from scratch, but the real magic is the journey: the hustle, the social media ads, the family pressure, the tiny wins, and the laughable fails. It’s what makes Naija entrepreneurship both relatable and hilarious.

So, to every Nigerian with a side hustle idea: buy that candle, post that TikTok, and laugh when it goes wrong—because in this country, ambition always comes with humor.

CelebritiesPastor Hands Out Bras And Wrappers To Curb ‘indecent Dressing’ In Church by alphonsojidebab(op): 7:20am On Sep 27, 2025
Evangelist Isaac Josiah, lead pastor of Reclaimers Ministry in Benin City, Edo State, has sparked widespread discussion online after a viral video showed him distributing bras, wrappers, and pyjamas to worshippers during service. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The pastor claimed the initiative was aimed at discouraging indecent dressing in church, warning that anyone unwilling to adhere to the church’s standards should find another place of worship.
A Controversial Approach to Modesty

In the video, Josiah criticized revealing outfits, particularly those worn by female members. He instructed his ushers:

“Brother Osase, Eric, and Chimere, you are at the door. From today, any girl who enters this church and we see her nipple, we will give her a bra and say, ‘We have discovered that you can’t afford a bra. On behalf of the church, we give you this.’ If we can’t change you in this church, look for another church.”

He also outlined rules for male congregants, promising to provide belts for men whose attire he deemed inappropriate.
Protecting Nursing Mothers

Pastor Josiah emphasized that nursing mothers’ bodies are private and should not be publicly exposed in church. Ushers were instructed to provide wrappers for women whose outfits were too revealing, ensuring modesty during services.
Discipline Over Fashion

Josiah stated that the measures were part of the church’s broader effort to raise disciplined members, stressing that church should focus on spiritual growth rather than attraction to physical appearances.

“Many pastors will not tell you what I am telling you. If we can’t change you in this church, look for another church,” he said.

The pastor’s hands-on approach has stirred reactions on social media, with some praising the commitment to modesty and discipline, while others criticized the method as extreme.
The Takeaway

Whether controversial or commendable, the viral video has reignited conversations about appropriate dress codes in Nigerian churches and the balance between personal freedom and spiritual discipline.
