CelebritiesI Don’t Hate Men; I’m A Hopeless Romantic – Toke Makinwa by alphonsoolajide(op): 7:35am On Aug 15, 2025
"I Don’t Hate Men; I’m a Hopeless Romantic" – Toke Makinwa Speaks on Pregnancy Journey After Baby Bump Reveal

Popular Nigerian media personality Toke Makinwa has opened up about her journey to motherhood, setting the record straight on misconceptions about her love life and views on men.

Just days ago, the OAP and actress surprised fans by revealing she is expecting her first child. In a candid interview, Toke shared that she had prayed to God to make her a mother before her 40th birthday — a wish that came true sooner than she expected. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to her, she conceived in December, just a month after turning 40 in November, and sees it as a testament to God’s perfect timing.

“The popular belief out there is that I bash men, I hate men. It’s never been the truth. I’m a hopeless romantic. People did not know that I was depressed. Till now, people did not know why I did that thanksgiving service and I’ve never talked about it till this moment. At the start, I told God I want to turn 40 a mum. I turned 40 in November and He did it December. He didn’t fail. God is never late. He just didn’t do it the way I thought it was gonna happen…”

Toke also addressed the public perception that she is critical of men, explaining that her outspoken nature has often been misunderstood. She emphasized that love has always been important to her, and she remains a romantic at heart.

Her heartfelt revelation has sparked an outpouring of congratulations from fans, celebrities, and well-wishers who have flooded social media with messages of support.

CelebritiesPeller Protests ₦36 Million Tax Bill From Lagos Government by alphonsoolajide(op): 6:12am On Aug 13, 2025
Popular TikTok star Peller has taken to social media to express outrage over a ₦36 million income tax bill allegedly issued to him by the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS). Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The social media personality, who shot to fame just last year, made the revelation during a livestream conversation with Nigerian singer Peruzzi, which was later reposted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

“I Just Came Into the Limelight” – Peller

Peller told viewers:

“Taskforce said I should pay ₦36 million for tax. I don’t have anything. I just came into the limelight last year.”

According to him, the amount is excessive, especially since he claims the government has never supported his work as a TikTok content creator.

Peruzzi Responds, Advises Quick Settlement

During the livestream, Peruzzi questioned why Peller had not been paying taxes and reminded him of his obligations as a Nigerian citizen.

“Why haven’t you paid your taxes? Do you know how much I pay as tax? I won’t mention it here, but it’s more than the bill they gave you,” Peruzzi said, warning Peller that ignoring the demand could lead to imprisonment.

He urged the TikToker to negotiate for more time and settle the bill.

Peller Claims He’s Being Targeted

Peller insisted the government’s move was influenced by his public display of wealth and disclosure of his TikTok earnings. He argued that most of his income comes from international audiences, not Nigeria, and questioned why he was being taxed at such a high rate.

The incident has since sparked debates online over influencer income taxation and the Lagos State Government’s approach to enforcing tax laws on social media personalities.

CrimeDriver Flees After Killing Tricycle Operator, Injuring Two Passengers In Lagos by alphonsoolajide(op): 6:01am On Aug 13, 2025
A fatal collision at Egbe Bridge summit, inward Ikotun, has claimed the life of a tricycle operator and left two passengers with severe injuries, after a Toyota Venza rammed into the tricycle in a reckless overtaking attempt. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The incident occurred on Tuesday and was confirmed by Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), in a statement signed by Mr Taofiq Adebayo, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment.

Reckless Overtaking Turns Deadly

According to Bakare-Oki, preliminary investigations revealed that the Toyota Venza, with registration number GWA 659 RD, was approaching from the Ejigbo axis when its driver attempted a dangerous overtaking manoeuvre on top of the bridge.

The vehicle collided head-on with an oncoming tricycle, popularly called a Marwa (registration number EPE 245 QM), which was travelling from Ikotun.

The violent impact killed the tricycle operator instantly. The two passengers – a male and a female – sustained serious injuries and multiple fractures.

Driver Abandons Victims, Flees Scene

In what Bakare-Oki described as “cowardice and moral dereliction”, the driver abandoned the victims and fled the accident scene immediately after the crash.

“Law enforcement authorities have launched a manhunt to apprehend the fugitive motorist and bring him to justice,” he said.

Emergency Response and Hospitalisation

LASTMA personnel rescued the injured from the wreckage, with assistance from Ikotun Police officers. The victims were rushed to General Hospital, Isolo, for urgent medical treatment.

Bakare-Oki extended condolences to the deceased’s family and wished the injured passengers a speedy recovery.

LASTMA’s Road Safety Warning

Reaffirming LASTMA’s commitment to road safety, Bakare-Oki warned motorists to exercise patience and check for oncoming vehicles before overtaking, especially on elevated roads and bridge crests.

“This tragic incident is a grim reminder of the deadly consequences of impatience and disregard for traffic laws,”he said, urging discipline, foresight, and strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent avoidable road tragedies in Lagos.

CrimeNigerian Man, Ademola Ayobami Idris, Jailed For Impersonating American Recruiter by alphonsoolajide(op): 5:50am On Aug 13, 2025
Nigerian Man, Ademola Ayobami Idris, Jailed for Impersonating American Recruiter in Lagos Cybercrime Case

The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced a Nigerian man, Ademola Ayobami Idris, to three months in prison for cybercrime after he posed as an American recruiter named Mike Samorano to defraud unsuspecting victims online. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The convict was arraigned on Friday, August 1, 2025, before Justice D.I. Dipeolu by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on a one-count charge of cyber fraud.

According to the charge, Idris, in 2021, fraudulently presented himself via Google Mail as an American recruiter in order to unlawfully gain financial advantage, an offence contrary to Section 22 (2)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.

Arrest and Confession

EFCC operative Kamal Musa Jubril told the court that Idris was apprehended during a sting operation in the Alagbado area of Lagos State following intelligence reports on internet fraud activities in the area. Upon sighting operatives, Idris attempted to destroy evidence by smashing his iPhone 15 Pro Max, but was taken into custody.

Initially claiming to be a cryptocurrency trader, Idris later confessed to engaging in online employment scams. He admitted sending fraudulent job offers to victims whose contact details he harvested from the Craigslist app, making $400 from the scheme.

Restitution and Sentencing

The EFCC tendered his extrajudicial statements, the recovered iPhone, and forensic analysis reports as evidence, all of which were admitted by the court. Idris restituted ₦300,000 to the Federal Government.

Justice Dipeolu convicted him and imposed a three-month prison term without the option of a fine. The court also ordered the permanent forfeiture of the ₦300,000 restitution and the iPhone 15 Pro Max to the Federal Government.

The EFCC reiterated its commitment to tackling cybercrime in Nigeria, warning that online impersonation and job scam schemes remain a criminal offence punishable under Nigerian law.

FamilyMan’s Body Remains Unburied For 5 Years As Wives And Children Battle Over Proper by alphonsoolajide(op): 12:26pm On Aug 11, 2025
Man’s Body Remains Unburied for 5 Years as Wives and Children Battle Over Property

A disturbing story shared on social media has reignited conversations around the dangers of polygamy in Nigeria.

A Nigerian woman, identified on X (formerly Twitter) as @Anambra_girl, revealed that her friend’s late father has remained unburied for almost five years due to an ongoing feud between his two wives and their children over the distribution of his property. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to her, the man had been married to two wives before his passing. Since his death, both women and their respective children have been locked in a bitter fight over who gets what, making it impossible to agree on burial arrangements.

“You see polygamy? Avoid it if you can. My family friend’s dad died almost five years ago and they can’t bury him yet because the two wives with their children are still dragging for the property,” she wrote.
Shockingly, she revealed that the properties have been left to rot due to neglect. Even the will the man left behind—naming trusted friends and his lawyer as executors—has failed to resolve the matter.

His properties are left to ruins because the family he left behind can’t come to agree. Even the will he wrote… still they couldn’t do it till date
,” she added.

https://x.com/Anambra_girl/status/1954271704496439422?t=bknokol0jKpc7dh69tYcKw&s=19

The revelation sparked outrage and sympathy online, with many Nigerians sharing similar experiences of family disputes in polygamous homes.

Some reactions include:

@OnyeAguata: “Nobody in the entire family ever loved the man. So nobody ever said they should set their greed aside and bury the man firsthuh?”

@MeduFavour: “Pls don’t advise anybody 😂 who get body make he or she put body, they will feel it.”

The case serves as a grim reminder of the potential chaos polygamy can bring when there is no unity, and why proper estate planning—and execution—is crucial.

PoliticsApostle Odekunle Epaphras: The Ibadan Prophet Whose 7/7 Program Draws Thousands by alphonsoolajide(op): 10:38am On Aug 10, 2025
Apostle Odekunle Epaphras: The Ibadan Prophet Whose 7/7 Program Draws Thousands — Miracles, Testimonies and Growing Influence

Apostle (Pastor) Odekunle Epaphras, the Ibadan-based minister behind the fast-growing “7/7” prophetic and covenant programme, is increasingly becoming a headline name in Nigerian charismatic circles — and for good reason. His services routinely pull large live audiences online (many broadcasts register 4,000+ viewers) and the ministry’s official channels host dozens of testimony videos — from healed bodies to restored fortunes — that supporters say prove the presence of signs and wonders in his meetings. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The 7/7 Program: What it Is and Why It Attracts Crowds
The “7/7” service — sometimes styled as a monthly prophetic/covenant meeting — is the anchor event for Apostle Epaphras’ ministry. It’s promoted across his YouTube, Facebook and TikTok platforms as an intense time of prophetic ministry, concentrated prayer and testimony sharing. Recent uploads of the 7/7 services and associated nightly vigils regularly show multi-thousand view counts and active live chat engagement, indicating a sizeable and engaged following online.

Miracles, Testimonies and Royal Visitors
A key reason people tune in — and travel to attend in person — is testimony time. The ministry posts a steady stream of short clips labelled “Testimony” showing personal stories: health recoveries, visa and migration breakthroughs, job and housing miracles, and financial turnarounds. On at least one occasion, the ministry published a testimony involving a traditional ruler (a king) who credited the ministry with a dramatic turnaround — a detail that has helped burnish Epaphras’ reputation among a broad spectrum of society, including some community leaders.

A Fast-Growing Ministry with a Local Base
Although much of the traction is online, Apostle Epaphras’ base is in Ibadan, where programmes such as the 7/7 prophetic service and weekly power services are held. Archived videos stretching back months and years show a continuity of programming — from Wednesday prophetic nights to special fasting and prayer days — suggesting intentional, steady growth rather than a flash-in-the-pan phenomenon. The ministry’s Facebook group and pages show tens of thousands of members and supporters engaging with content.

Background: From Bible College to Public Ministry
Publicly available material about the pastor’s background indicates a path familiar to many Nigerian ministers: Bible college or local training, followed by church planting and a shift into wider prophetic ministry. Local biographies and ministry blogs note his time in Bible school and the founding of Comfort Life Mission (and later related ministries), with subsequent growth into the online-broadcast model driving his current reach. comfortlifemissionblog.wordpress.comYouTube

Critics, Scrutiny and the Testimony Debate
No modern revival figure escapes scrutiny. Alongside glowing testimonials are sceptical voices online questioning the authenticity of some claims. The ministry itself sometimes posts cautionary messages about fake testimonies and urges discernment — a sign that, as with many large ministries, public scrutiny is part of the territory. That tension between faith-filled testimony and public accountability is a live conversation in comment threads and private groups.

Why People Keep Watching
There are several reasons the Epaphras phenomenon persists:

Relatability: Testimonies are short, personal and often framed in ways viewers can identify with (visa wins, health recoveries, job offers).

Access: Live streaming expands reach — recent streams show 4k+ engagement, meaning people who cannot travel still receive ministry in real time.

Social proof: High-profile testimonies and occasional appearances by local traditional leaders add a layer of legitimacy for some followers.

The Bottom Line
Apostle Odekunle Epaphras represents a fast-growing strand of Nigerian charismatic Christianity that blends local pastoral roots with savvy use of social platforms. For supporters, the ministry is a source of real, life-changing encounters. For critics, it raises familiar questions about testimony verification and the accountability of online ministries. Either way, the evidence of reach — frequent 7/7 services, thousands watching live, and a steady stream of testimonies — is visible across public channels. Readers deciding how to interpret those signs will want to weigh both the personal stories posted by beneficiaries and the healthy scepticism urged by independent voices.

Politics13 Arrests, Zero Fear: How Sowore Became Nigeria’s Most Detained Freedom Fighter by alphonsoolajide(op): 8:31am On Aug 08, 2025
🔥 Arrested Over 13 Times? The Untold Story of Sowore's Fight for Nigeria Since Abiola’s Death!

When you hear the name Omoyele Sowore, think of a man who has taken more police beatings than some politicians have given speeches — all in the name of truth, justice, and a better Nigeria.

From the June 12 protests after MKO Abiola’s death to the more recent #RevolutionNow movement, Sowore has stood at the forefront of Nigeria’s most daring protests. And what’s been his reward? Tear gas, handcuffs, and detention cells — again and again. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

But how many times has Sowore actually been arrested?

Let’s break it down.
🕊️ Sowore: From Student Activist to National Disruptor

Sowore’s activism journey began in the early ’90s at the University of Lagos, where he was President of the Student Union Government. During the 1993 June 12 presidential elections, widely believed to be won by Chief MKO Abiola, Sowore led mass protests against the annulment.

When Abiola was jailed and eventually died in 1998 under suspicious circumstances, Sowore was among the youth leaders who took to the streets. For that, he was arrested — marking his first major brush with Nigeria’s security forces.
🚔 Arrested Again and Again: Sowore’s War with the System

Since then, Sowore has been arrested over 13 times — from Lagos to Abuja, and even at Murtala Muhammed International Airport.

Some of the most notable arrests include:

2005: Detained while covering a government scandal involving stolen oil revenue.

2011: Picked up during a protest over fuel subsidy removal.

2019: Arrested by DSS over the #RevolutionNow protest, held for over 124 days despite court orders for his release.

2021: Beaten and detained again during a peaceful protest in Abuja.

2023: Arrested while campaigning for human rights violations in Lekki.

2025: Currently in police detention for what his lawyers are calling a “murder plot in disguise” after he was injured and allegedly exposed to noxious gas.

🧠 Why This Matters: Sowore is Nigeria’s Conscience

Sowore’s story isn’t just about arrests — it’s about persistence in a country that punishes integrity.

Many activists give up after one arrest. Sowore keeps coming back.

He has used his platform — Sahara Reporters — to expose corruption, bad governance, and human rights abuses. He ran for President in 2019 and 2023, not because he thought he’d win outright, but to force a national conversation on justice, equity, and accountability.
🚨 Final Thoughts: A Hero or a Threat?

Love him or hate him, Sowore is one of the few Nigerians alive who has risked it all — freedom, family, even his life — to demand better for the people.

His arrest history reads like a timeline of Nigeria’s democratic struggles. The question is: How many more arrests will it take before Nigerians truly listen?

PoliticsSowore’s Lawyers Cry Foul, Allege Life-Threatening Conditions In Police Custody by alphonsoolajide(op): 8:10am On Aug 08, 2025
Human rights activist and Sahara Reporters publisher, Omoyele Sowore, is allegedly facing grave danger while in detention, according to a statement released by his legal counsel, Tope Temokun.

Sowore was arrested on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, after honoring a police invitation from the Inspector-General of Police’s Monitoring Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja. The invitation, which reportedly pertained to allegations of forgery and defamation, has since snowballed into a full-blown human rights controversy. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

According to his lawyer, Mr. Temokun, Sowore’s brief detention turned into an ordeal when he was allegedly brutalized and forcibly moved to an undisclosed location in the early hours of Thursday. The physical assault reportedly dislocated his right arm, and he was then transferred to what his legal team described as an underground cell.

The most alarming development, however, came with allegations that noxious gas was released into the cell where Sowore was initially held—a tactic the legal team believes was a deliberate attempt on his life.

“A Calculated Attempt to Kill Him”

“This is not negligence or incompetence,” Temokun stated. “It is a calculated attempt to break Sowore physically and psychologically. These unfolding horrors are not coincidental—they are deliberate, they are targeted, and they are evil.”

Temokun compared Sowore’s current ordeal to the historical cases of Chief Gani Fawehinmi and MKO Abiola, both of whom allegedly suffered chemical attacks while in detention. “We know these tactics; we’ve seen them used on voices the government wants to silence,” he warned.

Unlawful Detention and Human Rights Concerns

Despite voluntarily responding to the police invitation, Sowore was detained without clear charges and without legal justification. Human rights groups and civil society organizations, including Amnesty International, have condemned the arrest and subsequent treatment as politically motivated repression.

Amnesty International stated on Thursday that Sowore’s arm was visibly broken during his forced transfer to court and called for his immediate release.

Other prominent Nigerian lawyers have also criticized the incident, citing violations of due process, abuse of power, and growing concerns over rising authoritarianism.

Sowore’s “Crime”? Speaking Truth to Power

Sowore’s lawyers argue that the only “crime” he is guilty of is his relentless criticism of government policies and actions. Notably, he had recently challenged the legality of IGP Kayode Egbetokun’s continued stay in office beyond the constitutionally mandated retirement age.

“This is not law enforcement—it is state terrorism,” Temokun declared. “If anything happens to Sowore, the Nigeria Police Force and those responsible will be held fully accountable before both the law and the Nigerian people.”

A Call for Justice

As the situation unfolds, Nigerians and international observers are keeping a close eye on the fate of Omoyele Sowore. Civil society has called for a full investigation into his treatment, transparency from the police, and accountability at the highest levels.

Meanwhile, the legal team insists on his immediate and unconditional release, a public apology, and assurances that such violations will never happen again.

PoliticsTension Rises Again As Armed Bandits Abduct Zamfara Monarch After NAF Airstrike by alphonsoolajide(op): 10:29am On Aug 07, 2025
Tension has gripped Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State following the abduction of a traditional ruler, Alhaji Babangida Kogo, the district head of Yankuzo, by armed bandits.

The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, August 5, 2025, just hours after the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted a deadly airstrike targeting a major bandit gathering in a nearby forest enclave. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Monarch Intercepted While Fleeing Possible Reprisal

Sources confirmed that the monarch was intercepted along the Mararraba axis while attempting to flee his community amid fears of reprisal attacks by surviving terrorists. The armed group, riding on over 10 motorcycles, reportedly ambushed Alhaji Kogo and his entourage near the abandoned farm of the late Alhaji Malami Yandoto.

While others were spared, the monarch was forcibly taken by the attackers, believed to be fighters loyal to notorious bandit kingpins active in the Tsafe–Zurmi axis.
Airstrike Preceded Abduction

Earlier that day, the Air Component of Operation Hadarin Daji launched a precision air raid based on credible intelligence and aerial surveillance, which tracked over 100 armed bandits converging for what was believed to be a wedding or celebratory gathering in a forest between Yankuzo and Munhaye.

“The impact was massive, charred bodies and destroyed motorcycles littered the area after the strike,” said a military source.

Scores of bandits were reportedly killed, while several others fled with serious injuries. The gathering included fighters from Katsina and Sokoto, crossing into Zamfara territory under the command of feared warlords.
Fear and Displacement in Surrounding Villages

Following the airstrike, fear swept through local communities, with many residents fleeing their homes in anticipation of retaliatory attacks. According to a Yankuzo resident:

“We knew they would strike back. That’s why our district head was leaving. Unfortunately, he ran into them before reaching safety.”

Search Operations Underway

Local vigilante groups and military ground forces have since launched a manhunt for the abducted monarch, combing forest trails and known hideouts in the region. Reinforcements have also been deployed to prevent further attacks and calm the rising tension.

This abduction underscores the desperation of bandit groups in Zamfara and the wider North West region, as they come under increasing military pressure through ongoing operations

HealthChina Reports Over 7,000 Chikungunya Virus Cases As Outbreak Spreads In Guangdon by alphonsoolajide(op): 10:07am On Aug 07, 2025
China is grappling with a Chikungunya virus outbreak, with over 7,000 confirmed cases reported since July 2025, primarily centered in Guangdong Province.

The outbreak has hit Foshan city the hardest, where hospitals are overwhelmed with patients. In an effort to control the virus’s spread, patients are now being hospitalized under mosquito nets, and are only discharged after testing negative for the virus. Eyes Of Lagos reports,
Strict Measures in Place to Contain Spread

Health authorities in Guangdong have launched aggressive containment efforts. Residents have been urged to eliminate stagnant water around their homes to stop mosquito breeding, the primary transmission route for Chikungunya.

Additionally, travelers from Foshan are required to undergo a 14-day quarantine to prevent exporting the virus to other cities and provinces.
Global Concern: Over 240,000 Cases Worldwide

While China battles to contain the local outbreak, the global situation is also alarming. According to international health reports, over 240,000 Chikungunya cases and at least 90 deaths have been reported across 16 countries since the resurgence of the virus in mid-2025.
What is Chikungunya?

Chikungunya is a mosquito-borne viral disease transmitted mainly by the Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus species. It causes sudden onset of fever, joint pain, fatigue, and rashes. While it is rarely fatal, the virus can cause debilitating long-term symptoms, especially in older adults and those with underlying health conditions.

Health experts are advising citizens to take precautions such as using insect repellents, sleeping under mosquito nets, and wearing protective clothing.
China’s Health System on Alert

Chinese health officials are working closely with international agencies to monitor and control the outbreak. Emergency response teams have been deployed in Foshan and neighboring regions, and public health campaigns have been intensified to inform and protect the public.

Politics2027: Goodluck Jonathan Reportedly Set To Run Against Tinubu – Insider Reveals by alphonsoolajide(op): 9:56am On Aug 07, 2025
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is reportedly making a political comeback and has accepted in principle to run for president in 2027 under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform, with the goal of challenging incumbent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to an exclusive report by Vanguard, a close ally of Jonathan confirmed that the former leader is seriously considering a return to Aso Rock, driven by concerns over Nigeria’s worsening economic hardship and insecurity.

“Jonathan is being urged to contest again to reposition Nigeria. The idea is to give him one term to stabilise the system and possibly return power to the North by 2031 without much resistance from the South,” the source revealed.

Northern Endorsement and Political Calculations

Behind-the-scenes meetings have reportedly been held to drum up support, including a high-level consultation with former military president General Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger State. Although details of Babangida’s response remain confidential, insiders say northern political elites are warming up to the idea of Jonathan’s return. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The plan, according to insiders, is strategic: a one-term presidency for Jonathan would cool tensions between the North and South, laying the groundwork for a smooth power rotation in 2031.
South-South Mobilisation and Party Conditions

Jonathan is also said to be consulting stakeholders in the South-South, particularly in Port Harcourt, to solidify regional backing.

Meanwhile, the PDP appears fully committed to bringing him back into its inner circle. Mallam Ibrahim Abdullahi, PDP’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, told BBC Hausa that public sentiment has shifted in Jonathan’s favour:

“People now admit they made a mistake by not re-electing him. He’s being asked to return and rescue the country.”

He added that Jonathan is setting conditions before formally accepting, including clarity on the party’s primary process and a defined role if he picks the ticket.

Sources also claim that some PDP leaders met with Jonathan in The Gambia, where he’s known to maintain a diplomatic presence, to persuade him further.
A Dramatic 2027 Showdown Looms

Should Jonathan officially declare, it sets the stage for a high-stakes 2027 presidential showdown between two political heavyweights—Jonathan of the PDP and Tinubu of the APC. The political landscape is bracing for a potential clash of legacies, ideologies, and regional interests.

Nollywood Star, Bolanle Ninalowo, popularly known as Maka or Makanaki, is spreading his wings beyond Nigerian cinema as he officially ventures into Hollywood, working alongside stars like Blac Chyna and Vivica A. Fox.

In an exclusive interview with The Nation, Ninalowo revealed that he recently wrapped up filming on a Hollywood movie project, marking a significant milestone in his international career. This comes after a brief hiatus from Nollywood, during which the actor says he was focusing on both family and new career opportunities abroad. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

“I’m doing some things in Hollywood as well—creating my mark over there,” he shared. “I just finished a movie with Vivica Fox and Blac Chyna, and I’ve got a few more roles lined up.”

While details of the movie are still under wraps, fans are buzzing with excitement over Ninalowo’s bold crossover into the American entertainment space. Known for his rugged charm and powerful performances in films like Picture Perfect and Coming from Insanity, the actor seems well-poised to make a splash on the global stage.

But it doesn’t stop there.

Ninalowo also revealed that he’s working on a new docu-series titled Maka ti Japa, a personal project set to premiere on his streaming platform, Makanaki TV. The series is described as a gritty, humorous take on the immigrant hustle, following the story of a stereotypical Lagos agbero who decides to chase the American dream.

“It’s about the life of an immigrant—a Naija agbero guy who says, ‘I fit go America too,’” Ninalowo said with a grin. “I wanted to speak for the streets, and tell the story of an area boy trying to make it outside Nigeria.”

Far from the typical portrayal of street boys as irresponsible or violent, Ninalowo emphasizes that the central character is ambitious, street-smart, and deeply relatable. Drawing from his earlier iconic role in Picture Perfect, the series hopes to humanize a segment of Nigerian youth that is often misunderstood.

“This character isn’t the ‘useless guy’ people often assume—he’s got dreams, responsibilities, and determination,” he added.

With production already underway, Maka ti Japa promises to be a compelling mix of drama, reality, and social commentary, painting an authentic picture of diaspora struggles through the lens of Nigerian street culture. It’s expected to resonate deeply with the global African community and lovers of raw, character-driven storytelling.

The dual announcements — a Hollywood debut and a street-level docu-series — showcase Ninalowo’s evolving career trajectory as he transitions from Nollywood heartthrob to global storyteller. By balancing blockbuster ambitions with grounded narratives, Ninalowo is setting a new standard for Nigerian entertainers aspiring to make waves beyond African borders.

Fans, both local and international, are now eagerly awaiting more details about the Hollywood film and the premiere date for Maka ti Japa. If one thing’s clear, it’s that Bolanle Ninalowo is no longer just a Nollywood star—he’s a rising global force.

Music/RadioAyra Starr Criticized For Using 'gay' Dancers In Promo For Roc Nation Debut Sing by alphonsoolajide(op): 6:40am On Aug 06, 2025
Nigerian pop sensation Ayra Starr has found herself at the center of heated online criticism after posting a promotional dance video for her upcoming single under Jay-Z’s Roc Nation label. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The short clip, which the singer shared on her social media pages, shows Ayra Starr performing alongside a group of backup dancers, some of whom appear effeminate in their presentation. While the video was meant to generate excitement ahead of the single’s release, it quickly attracted mixed reactions from fans — with many accusing the singer of “pushing Western values” and using what they described as “gay dancers” to market her music.

Ayra Starr, known for her bold fashion choices and genre-blending sound, has not yet responded to the backlash. However, the video continues to trend across platforms like Twitter (X) and Instagram, where fans and critics are locked in debates over cultural values, identity expression, and creative freedom.

“This isn’t about hate, it’s about protecting our culture. We don’t need this kind of influence in Nigerian music,” one user commented on Instagram.

“So because she signed to Roc Nation, she must now start copying the West? Very disappointing,” another added.

The controversy is particularly intense because this is Ayra Starr’s first release since signing a 5-year global deal with Roc Nation, the American entertainment agency founded by hip-hop mogul Jay-Z. The deal, announced just weeks ago, was seen as a huge milestone for the 22-year-old singer and a big win for Afrobeats’ global recognition.

Critics argue that Ayra Starr’s alignment with Western entertainment giants could lead to a shift in her artistic identity — one that may clash with traditional Nigerian values. For some, the inclusion of effeminate or LGBTQ+ dancers in her promotional materials signals what they see as an intentional move toward pushing a certain agenda.

Still, a large number of fans and cultural commentators have come to the singer’s defense, citing artistic freedom, diversity, and inclusivity as non-negotiable in the modern global music landscape.

“Let artists express themselves. Music is a universal language. Don’t reduce her creativity to who her dancers are,” one X user tweeted.

“You want global recognition but don’t want global standards. Pick a side,” another fan clapped back.

The debate reflects growing cultural tensions in Nigeria, where global trends often clash with traditional and conservative values, especially in the entertainment space. LGBTQ+ visibility remains a sensitive topic, with Nigerian law criminalizing same-sex relationships and societal attitudes still deeply rooted in religious and cultural conservatism.

As Ayra Starr gears up for what could be her biggest international moment yet, this controversy underscores the tightrope Nigerian artists must walk as they transition from local fame to global influence.

Whether this backlash will impact the release of her single remains to be seen. For now, Ayra Starr’s team has chosen to remain silent, possibly opting to let the music speak louder than the chatter.

Politics“every Billionaire In Nigeria Stole Government Money” – Orji Uzor Kalu by alphonsoolajide(op): 6:15pm On Aug 05, 2025
A shocking video of Nigerian senator, Orji Uzor Kalu, has surfaced online, sending shockwaves across social media and reigniting national outrage over corruption in high places. In the viral footage, Kalu openly declared that nearly all Nigerian billionaires made their wealth by stealing from the government. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

“They stole government money. Everybody you see today who say they’re a billionaire… they make government money,” Kalu is heard saying in a casual conversation with friends.

The former Abia State Governor and current Senator for Abia North, who has previously faced corruption charges himself, made this startling claim while seemingly unaware he was being recorded.
🔥 Social Media in Meltdown

The clip, which first appeared on X (formerly Twitter), quickly gained traction, with thousands of Nigerians reposting and reacting to what many are calling a rare moment of political honesty.

Here’s how some Nigerians reacted:

@shegzedon: “Which means Tinubu, Atiku, Obasanjo, Peter Obi, etc are ole.”

@BlackUriel01: “Lol, corruption everywhere. EFCC no go see this type oo, na only boys them dey target.”

@Twhyspecial: “This is proof that we’re still not truly independent. Politicians steal public funds with impunity.”

Others used the moment to criticize the selective justice system in Nigeria, where low-level fraudsters are hunted while high-ranking officials walk free.
💸 Is He Right or Just Deflecting?

While some have hailed the senator’s words as “the truth Nigeria needed to hear,” critics say it may be a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Kalu was convicted of corruption in 2019 and sentenced to 12 years in prison, only for the Supreme Court to overturn the conviction in 2020 on procedural grounds.

Still, his statements have sparked an overdue conversation about how wealth is accumulated in Nigeria, and whether true billionaires can emerge in the system without dirty money.
🧠 Eyes of Lagos Analysis

If Kalu’s words are anything to go by, Nigeria’s political class may have just been exposed in the most unexpected way. While the EFCC continues to parade Yahoo boys for social media clout, the real “heist” may be happening in the halls of power — and behind closed doors.

Crime“she Just Wanted A Job!” Fake Interview In Abuja Ends In Rape, Robbery And Frien by alphonsoolajide(op): 6:01pm On Aug 05, 2025
“She Just Wanted a Job!” Fake Interview in Abuja Ends in Rape, Robbery and Friend’s Death

What started as a desperate search for employment ended in tragedy when a young Nigerian woman lost her best friend and survived a horrific rape after falling victim to a fake job interview scam in Abuja. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

A Promise of Hope Turns to Horror

In a harrowing video now circulating on TikTok, a Nigerian lady recounted the gut-wrenching experience of being lured into a fake job interview, assaulted by multiple men, and waking up to find her friend dead in the same house.

According to her testimony, she had just graduated from school and returned home to her mother, her only surviving parent. With hopes of building a new life, she reached out to a friend in Abuja who worked at a local restaurant in Kubwa.

Her friend promised to help her get a domestic cleaning job that included accommodation — a tempting offer for any struggling graduate.

“She said the job came with accommodation and the employer was ready to meet me. I was so happy — finally, something was working out,” the victim said in her video.

The Trap Was Set in Dutse

The “interview” was scheduled in Dutse, a suburb of Abuja. The woman and her friend waited hours to be picked up by the so-called employer. When he finally arrived — accompanied by a mysterious heavyset woman — they were driven deep into an unfamiliar village and taken to a guest house.

“He said we should wait for food. Around 11pm, he brought us water and minerals. I didn’t take the mineral because I’m asthmatic. My friend did.”

Shortly after, her friend passed out. The man returned, lured her to another room for a “chat” with the female accomplice, and that’s when everything went black.

“The next thing I remember was waking up tied to a wardrobe and chairs. My friend wasn’t moving. I was raped by at least five men, including the one who brought us there.”

Friend Confirmed Dead, Phones and Belongings Stolen

The lady managed to crawl to her friend’s room, only to find her lifeless, barely breathing body. By morning, the perpetrators had vanished — stealing their bags, phones, money, and even her asthma inhaler.

“My friend never woke up. She died because of this. She died trying to help me. I don’t know how to live with that.”

The story has triggered national outrage, with social media users demanding accountability from law enforcement.
💬 Social Media Reactions

BeeHoneyTipsPH💅🎀🇳🇬: “Omg 😩 I wouldn’t have opened the door. I would pretend to be asleep!”

Geemoney: “Trace the guy from the call log! Why aren’t police acting on this already?”

Morris Moore: “This is why I trust no one. Life is too hard and people are wicked.”

Prettyfavie: “So even trying to get a genuine job is dangerous now? Father, protect us!”

Precious Diamond001: “Life 💔 This is what poverty and hunger lead to. May God help us all.”
⚠️ Fake Job Interviews: A Growing Crisis in Nigeria

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case. Fake job interviews are a rising tactic used by human traffickers and sex predators in Nigeria, especially targeting women desperate for employment. The lack of background checks, informal job markets, and inadequate law enforcement have made it easy for predators to operate freely.

🛑 If you’re job hunting:

Never attend interviews in isolated locations.

Always verify the legitimacy of the company or employer.

Avoid interviews that involve accommodation promises or require pick-ups.

Inform someone of your location and set check-in times.

🙏 A Call for Justice

As of now, it is unclear whether the case has been reported to the police or whether an investigation has begun. Viewers online are urging the authorities to trace the perpetrators using call logs and CCTV where available.

CrimeNigerian Man Nabbed For Fake Bank Transfer While Trying To Impress Girlfriend On by alphonsoolajide(op): 5:48pm On Aug 05, 2025
Nigerian Man Nabbed for Fake Bank Transfer While Trying to Impress Girlfriend on Girlfriend’s Day”

Romance Gone Wrong: Man Caught Faking Bank Transfer to Buy Phone Gift for Girlfriend on Girlfriend’s Day

In what many online users have tagged as a “love crime”, a Nigerian man has found himself at the center of a social media storm after being caught attempting a fake bank transfer to purchase a phone gift for his girlfriend on International Girlfriend Day. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The incident, captured on video and shared via a viral post on X (formerly Twitter), shows the man being confronted by angry bystanders and a dispatch rider after he allegedly placed a pay-on-delivery order for a smartphone — only to attempt a fraudulent transfer upon delivery.

One bystander is heard in the video saying:
“You get mind you dey order delivery, when dispatch come you dey put dispatch for debt. You order for original phone.”

The accused man appeared embarrassed and unable to provide proof of the alleged transaction. The situation escalated quickly, with many condemning his actions and questioning why someone would go to such criminal lengths just to impress a romantic partner.
Social Media Reacts

As expected, the story triggered mixed reactions online. While some mocked him, others questioned the pressures that push young men to such desperate acts—all in the name of love.

@lifeinsolace: “Na wa o. For a girlfriend that will leave him on seeing this video? Nah.”

@eSoul_licker: “You dey tiff because of toto. If I say make dem put tire for him neck now people go say I too do.”

@JOSHSTITCHIST: “You no get money you dey do girlfriend things to impress — no go fix your life.”

@_realkingsley: “Na fine boy like this dey go this extent to please woman? Him life don spoil.”

Love or Lunacy?

The incident has sparked conversations about the lengths to which some men go to impress their partners, especially on celebratory days like Girlfriend’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and birthdays.

According to a relationship expert, “There’s nothing romantic about impressing someone with stolen or fake means. Real love isn’t sustained by lies or debt.”
Final Thoughts

While romantic gestures are part of relationships, faking a bank transfer to buy a phone is outright fraud. This case serves as a harsh reminder of the dangers of peer pressure, financial irresponsibility, and the societal expectations that often drive young people into risky decisions.

At the time of writing, it is unclear whether the man was handed over to authorities or simply shamed and let go.

Woman Spends Over ₦40 Million on Lip Enhancements to Achieve Doll-Like Appearance — See Shocking Transformation Photos

In a story that has shocked and fascinated the internet, Andrea Ivanova, a woman from Bulgaria, has spent an astonishing $26,000 (over ₦40 million) on lip injections alone as part of her mission to transform into a real-life Bratz doll. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Andrea began her extreme transformation journey in 2018, undergoing an extensive list of cosmetic procedures aimed at altering nearly every feature of her face. Her surgeries include lip fillers, cheekbone enhancements, jawline contouring, chin reshaping, and even bosom augmentation — all designed to help her achieve what she describes as her “dream look.”

A Pricey Obsession: Over 32 Procedures in 4 Years

By 2022, Andrea had reportedly undergone over 32 cosmetic procedures, with lip enhancements being her most frequent and drastic change. Her dramatically enlarged lips have earned her the unofficial title of the woman with the “world’s largest lips.” In total, she has spent more than $26,000 on her lips alone, with additional expenses tied to other facial surgeries.

Despite repeated warnings from medical experts about the serious health risks associated with extreme cosmetic work, Ivanova has shown no signs of slowing down.

“I wanted to experiment with myself to see how many injections and how much filler my body could take,” she said in a recent interview.

Doctors Warn of Health Dangers

Andrea’s personal doctors have voiced concerns over the long-term impact of such extensive procedures. Several professionals have reportedly refused to perform further injections, particularly after seeing how stretched and inflamed her lips had become.

“My doctor was afraid to inject more hyaluronic acid into my lips, but I was adamant. I will not stop,” Ivanova confessed.

Medical experts continue to stress that excessive filler use can lead to tissue damage, infections, and even death if improperly administered or overused.

Nigerian Man Confronts Prophet Over Alleged Fake Prophecy After Paying ₦3,000

From Natural Beauty to Bratz Doll Aesthetic

Photos of Andrea Ivanova before her transformation reveal a completely different woman — one with a more natural and youthful appearance. The newly surfaced “before” images have intensified public debates over beauty standards, self-image, and the growing obsession with plastic perfection in social media culture.

Her facial changes are not the only modifications she has made. Andrea also underwent bosom augmentation, increasing her size from 75C to 75E, another move that stirred public reaction.

Love Life Affected but Passion Unshaken

Despite admitting that her dramatic transformation may have affected her love life, Ivanova insists she has no regrets.

“I know not everyone likes my look, but I love it. That’s what matters. I feel confident and unique,” she said.

Her journey has sparked a wide range of opinions — from admiration for her boldness to criticism about unhealthy beauty standards and self-endangerment.

A Conversation About Cosmetic Obsession

Andrea Ivanova’s story is more than just about lip fillers. It highlights a growing global trend where extreme body modifications are used as a form of self-expression or identity, often at the cost of health and relationships. Whether viewed as empowerment or excess, her journey undeniably raises important questions about the future of beauty and personal transformation in an increasingly image-driven world.

Celebrities"Before It’s Too Late" – Wizkid’s Associate, Godson Raises Alarm Over 2baba’s Co by alphonsoolajide(op): 8:42am On Jul 31, 2025
"Before It’s Too Late" – Wizkid’s Associate, Godson Raises Alarm Over 2Baba’s Condition, Urges Public Intervention

Nigerian music executive and close associate of superstar Wizkid, Michael Uyi Agho, popularly known as Godson, has publicly expressed concern over the mental and emotional well-being of legendary Afrobeat singer 2Baba (Innocent Idibia). Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Taking to his official Instagram page, Godson urged Nigerians to stop mocking 2Baba’s marital struggles and instead intervene before the situation spirals out of control. In a now-viral post, he hinted that the singer may be silently crying for help, even as the public continues to turn his personal issues into a source of entertainment.

“2Baba Might Be Screaming for Help” – Godson Warns

Godson’s post comes on the heels of unconfirmed rumors circulating online about 2Baba allegedly tying the knot with another woman identified as Natasha, despite still being married to actress and longtime partner, Annie Idibia.

In the post, Godson voiced deep frustration over what he described as the growing disregard for the legendary singer’s well-being, blaming both the public and those close to 2Baba for ignoring the warning signs.

“Wait o, na so Nigerians just allow women ruin our legend, my mentor, my helper, my backbone. From Annie to Natasha. I honestly wish I could tag his useless friends,” he wrote.

“Free 2Face Idibia. Say no to drugs. 2Face needs help. 2Baba is screaming for help, and we are using him to catch cruise,” he added.

Social Media Reacts: Sympathy, Criticism, and Debate

Godson’s emotional plea sparked a wide range of reactions across social media platforms. While some fans echoed his concerns and called for mental health support for Nigerian celebrities, others dismissed his statements as vague and sensational.

Some users argued that Godson’s call for help lacked evidence, especially in light of the rumor-heavy climate surrounding 2Baba’s personal life. Others, however, praised him for speaking up, noting that public figures often suffer in silence due to societal pressure and online bullying.

“It’s easy to laugh at someone’s pain until it’s too late. I think Godson is right to speak out,” one Instagram user wrote.

“This post is dramatic. If 2Baba needs help, it should be handled privately,” another replied.

Celebrity Struggles Behind the Spotlight

2Baba has had his fair share of public scrutiny over the years, particularly around his marriage to Annie Idibia and alleged infidelities. Despite being one of the most celebrated figures in Nigerian music, with decades of iconic hits and global recognition, the singer has frequently been in the spotlight for his personal life as much as for his career.

Godson’s message draws attention to a larger conversation around the mental health of celebrities in Nigeria, many of whom face intense public pressure and lack of privacy.

Conclusion: A Wake-Up Call or Publicity Stunt?

Whether or not Godson’s outburst is rooted in facts, it brings to light the importance of taking emotional distress seriously, especially when it involves high-profile individuals. The ongoing scrutiny of 2Baba’s personal life is a reminder that fame does not shield one from pain—and perhaps, now more than ever, empathy is needed over mockery.

FamilyWife Discovers Husband’s Secret Second Marriage On Facebook After 3 Kids by alphonsoolajide(op): 7:34am On Jul 30, 2025
Wife Discovers Husband’s Secret Second Marriage on Facebook — After 3 Kids and Years Together!

In a heartbreaking twist straight out of a Nollywood script, a Nigerian woman has gone viral after revealing how she discovered on Facebook that her husband — with whom she shares three children — had secretly married another woman. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The tearful story was shared in a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), where the woman emotionally narrated her ordeal. According to her, she had been married for years but always faced rejection from her husband’s family — especially his mother, who strongly opposed the marriage because the woman is from Anambra while her husband is from Enugu.

“His mum never supported our marriage. She even sent demonic messages to me, saying I’ll die if I don’t leave her son,” she said.

Despite the warnings and red flags, the couple tied the knot and started a family. But things never got better.

“We lived in the same house and didn’t talk for a whole year. He was tired of me. He lied and pretended a lot,” she recalled.

At one point, the husband returned from a trip with a young woman who began following him around. When questioned, the man’s mother claimed the girl was “just the neighbor’s daughter.” But things took a darker turn.

“In 2021, I visited the village, and he brought the same girl along. She was already playing with my children and even doing my daughter’s hair,” the woman narrated.

The final blow came in 2022 when she stumbled upon her husband’s wedding pictures with the same girl — on Facebook.

“He didn’t even tell me anything. I just saw it on Facebook that he had married her,” she said.

Now a single mother of three living in Abuja, the woman says the emotional toll of the experience has aged her rapidly.

“I just clocked 40, but I look 65,” she added.

Career7 Classic Lies Lagos Workers Tell (no. 3 Will Make Your Boss Side-eye You) by alphonsoolajide(op): 7:48am On Jul 28, 2025
Lagos is the city of hustle, bustle — and a little small-small fibbing to survive 9 to 5. In the land of “no dulling,” office workers have perfected the art of telling white lies to stay sane (or just to escape unnecessary wahala). Whether it’s dodging HR, late coming, or needing “urgent” personal days, these classic fibs are so common, even the bosses don’t believe them anymore. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

Let’s break down the top 7 legendary lies Lagos workers tell — and trust us, No. 3 will have your manager questioning everything!
1. “I’m Almost There!” (From Ikorodu 😩)

Nothing screams Lagos delay louder than this lie.
It’s 9:14 am. You’re still brushing teeth in Iyana Ipaja but texting your boss, “I’m almost at CMS.”
Meanwhile, Google Maps says 1 hour 45 minutes.

🗨️ X Reactions:
@JoblessYemi: “If I had ₦10 for every ‘I’m almost there’ lie, I’d be working in Banana Island by now.”
2. “I Had a Family Emergency”

This excuse is the go-to when deadlines are ignored or meetings are missed.
And somehow, these emergencies only happen on Fridays or Mondays. 😏

HR be like: “This family must be really dramatic.”
3. “My Laptop Crashed”

A modern-day classic.
Suddenly, the Excel sheet vanishes. The PowerPoint evaporates. The deliverable is gone.

👀 Translation: “I forgot to do the work, but if I blame the system, maybe I’ll get an extension.”

💥 Warning: Overuse of this lie will make IT guys suspicious and bosses irritated.
4. “I Didn’t See Your Email”

A lie as old as Yahoo Mail.
Never mind that Gmail shows “read” receipts. Lagosians still act like the message fell into a Bermuda Triangle of spam.

📩 Some even reply, “Just seeing this,” to a message sent 4 days ago. Classic!
5. “NEPA Took Light” (In an Office with Inverter)

This one’s hilarious when it comes from people who work in fully powered offices or cafes with constant Wi-Fi.
Yet, “light issue” is the best way to explain a disappearing act during Zoom calls or missed deadlines.
6. “I Was Stuck in Traffic” (Even at 7am 😅)

To be fair, Lagos traffic is a legit excuse… until you realize they left the house at 8:59 for a 9:00 meeting.
Some even blame imaginary “tankers” blocking Third Mainland when they actually overslept.
7. “I’m Sick” (But at the Beach 🌴)

Suddenly, food poisoning hits… and the next day, your ‘sick’ colleague is in a tagged beach photo with sunglasses and mojito.

💻 Boss: “I thought you said you were admitted at LUTH?”
📱 Instagram: “#SoftLife #VitaminSea”

Conclusion:

In Lagos, survival requires smart thinking — and sometimes, smart lying 😅.
But beware, your boss might already know these classic lines. So, next time you’re tempted to say “My phone was stolen” after ghosting work, just know… you’re not the first. And definitely not the last.

The Federal Government has announced that all WAEC and NECO examinations will transition fully to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) by 2026.

CBT to Tackle Exam Malpractice

Alausa commended NECO for its seamless pilot session, describing it as a major step toward full digitisation.

“WAEC and NECO will soon be like JAMB—conducting exams in certified CBT centres nationwide. This will curb malpractice, improve exam credibility, and build a modern, tech-driven education sector,” Alausa stated.

The government plans to repurpose thousands of JAMB-certified CBT centres for WAEC and NECO candidates, encouraging both public and private investments to expand infrastructure.

By November 2025, all objective papers will be taken via CBT, while essay papers will fully transition by 2026.

NECO Registrar, Prof. Dantani Wushishi, assured of the council’s readiness, urging state governments to support infrastructure development, especially in remote areas.

NECO recorded 1,367,210 SSCE candidates this year—its highest so far—with Kano State topping the list and Kebbi State having the least. The Nigerian International School, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, had the lowest number of entries, with just eight students.

The Federal Government has announced plans to clear the ₦81 billion owed to N-Power beneficiaries for unpaid allowances dating back to 2022 and 2023. This decision followed a closed-door meeting held on Tuesday, July 22, convened by the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau.

The meeting brought together representatives of the aggrieved beneficiaries, their legal counsel Abba Hikima, and top government officials, including the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

FG Commits to Clearing Backlog

Speaking after the meeting, Senator Barau described the discussions as “productive,” confirming that the government had begun making arrangements to settle the outstanding payments.

The beneficiaries came to the Senate for help, and I reached out to the minister, who responded positively. We’ve had a fruitful discussion, and the government has shown clear commitment to clearing the backlog. As a result, the beneficiaries have agreed to suspend their legal action,” Barau stated.

Professor Yilwatda admitted that the government owed the beneficiaries, explaining that the allowances were captured in the 2022 and 2023 budgets but not released due to funding gaps.

“We secured approval from the service-wide vote late last year and are now working to begin disbursement within this fiscal year. We are committed to settling everything before the year ends,” Yilwatda said.

Legal Action Suspended

Confirming the government’s assurances, beneficiaries’ lawyer, Abba Hikima, revealed that the lawsuit filed against the government had been suspended.

“My clients are being owed around ₦81 billion. The minister has assured us that payments will start once the 2025 budget implementation begins. We appreciate the Senate’s intervention,” Hikima noted.

The chairman of the N-Power beneficiaries, Kehinde James, expressed gratitude to the Senate and ministers for addressing the matter after years of frustration.
