A Nigerian pastor has opened up about a painful experience involving a church member who allegedly deceived him with promises of a trip to Dubai and withheld his international passport. The story surfaced in a viral video circulating on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, where the cleric recounted how his excitement over an international trip turned into disappointment and betrayal. Eyes Of Lagos reports, Promised a Vacation in Dubai According to the pastor, the church member approached him with an offer to help him secure a visa to Dubai. The man allegedly assured him that the process would be seamless and encouraged him to submit his international passport. He also told the pastor that the trip would only last a few days and was meant for relaxation and enjoyment. Excited about the opportunity, the cleric said he informed members of his family and began preparing for the journey. Speaking in Yoruba during the interview, he explained that he trusted the church member because of their relationship within the church. “One of my church members asked me to bring my passport. He promised to process my visa and said I would be travelling to Dubai. He told me I only needed to spend a few days there and enjoy myself.” Airport Disappointment The pastor said he travelled to Lagos ahead of the departure date and arrived at the airport expecting to board his flight. However, he quickly realized something was wrong when the church member failed to show up. Several attempts to reach him by phone proved unsuccessful. According to the pastor, the man’s phone line eventually became unreachable, leaving him stranded and confused. What made the situation even more painful, he said, was the fact that his passport was never returned. “He Deliberately Kept My Passport” The cleric insisted that the document was not accidentally misplaced but was intentionally withheld. He explained that after waiting endlessly for updates, he eventually accepted that he had been deceived and was forced to begin the process of obtaining a new passport. “The passport was not misplaced. He deliberately kept it. I didn’t travel anywhere. He deceived me, and he was a church member,” the pastor said. Painful Reunion Years Later According to the pastor, the incident remained a painful memory for years. He disclosed that he eventually saw the man again about six or seven years after the incident, an encounter he described as emotional and difficult to forget. The revelation has sparked mixed reactions online, with many social media users expressing sympathy for the cleric while others warned Nigerians to be cautious when handing over important documents, regardless of who is making the promise. The incident also serves as a reminder that trust, even within close religious or social circles, should be accompanied by proper verification, especially when it involves travel arrangements and sensitive personal documents. https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/06/20/pastor-alleges-church-member-scammed-him-with-fake-dubai-visa-kept-his-passport/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod , Seun

The Lagos Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has ramped up enforcement operations across Alimosho and surrounding areas, leading to multiple arrests and the sealing of properties linked to environmental violations. The operation, carried out by the agency’s Project W.I.S.E (West) enforcement team, focused on curbing indiscriminate waste disposal, illegal dumping, and other activities contributing to environmental degradation. Key areas affected include the Ikotun axis and nearby communities. Eyes Of Lagos reports, During a night surveillance exercise, officials apprehended a 15-year-old boy (name withheld) for illegally dumping refuse at the Ikotun-Egbe roundabout around 10:00 p.m. The suspect was later handed over to the Task Force office in Oshodi for further action. In a related operation, LAWMA sealed a car lot located at Iroko Estate along LASU-Isheri Road after it was found discharging waste into drainage systems. A furniture showroom was also shut down for similar environmental infractions. Additionally, the agency issued an intention-to-seal notice to a mini store in Diamond Estate for failing to engage a registered Private Sector Participant (PSP) operator, a violation of Lagos State waste management regulations. The enforcement action followed complaints from residents of Kaslat/Sarumi Street, who raised concerns about an undeveloped plot being used as an illegal dumpsite. Reports indicated that cart pushers frequently dumped and burned waste on the premises. Upon investigation, LAWMA sealed the property and arrested a 65-year-old security guard, Abubakar Yunusa, for alleged involvement in the illegal activities. Speaking on the development, the Managing Director/CEO of LAWMA, Muyiwa Gbadegesin, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to sustained enforcement across Lagos State. He emphasized that acts such as indiscriminate waste disposal, burning of refuse, and the use of unregistered waste handlers remain serious offences under environmental laws. Gbadegesin urged residents to adopt responsible waste disposal practices by engaging only LAWMA-accredited PSP operators. He also encouraged the public to report environmental violations through official channels, assuring that the agency would continue to respond swiftly to complaints. The intensified crackdown highlights ongoing efforts by the Lagos State government to promote environmental sustainability, improve sanitation, and protect public health across communities. https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/04/17/lawma-intensifies-crackdown-in-alimosho-arrests-offenders-and-seals-properties/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod, Seun

His statement quickly drew attention online, prompting a sharp response from VeryDarkMan (VDM). Eyes Of Lagos reports, Reacting publicly, VDM challenged Sowore’s involvement in the case, questioning his authority and warning him against interfering. Authorities in Spain have uncovered a sophisticated underground tunnel used for smuggling drugs from Morocco into Europe. The discovery was made in Ceuta, a strategic territory that serves as one of the few land borders between Africa and Europe. Eyes Of Lagos reports, According to investigators, the tunnel was concealed beneath an industrial warehouse, making it nearly impossible to detect. What shocked authorities most was the level of engineering involved: Water-pumping systems to prevent flooding Soundproofing mechanisms to avoid detection A multi-level structure resembling a mining operation Police revealed that the tunnel stretched about 19 metres deep and was designed like a maze across three levels. It featured: Rail tracks with trolleys for transporting drugs Storage sections for holding illegal substances Cranes and pulley systems to lift heavy loads Despite its narrow size — roughly 1.2 metres high and 80 centimetres wide — the structure was described as highly advanced and professionally built Investigators say the full extent of the tunnel remains unclear because parts of it are currently flooded. This has raised suspicions that the network could be even larger and more complex than initially believed The discovery is part of an ongoing operation that began in February 2025. So far, authorities have seized: Over 17 tonnes of hashish Approximately €1.4 million in cash A total of 27 suspects have been arrested, including two alleged ringleaders. One of the key suspects was apprehended on March 26 in Morocco and is reportedly linked to a similar tunnel discovered previously. Police believe the tunnel was operated by a well-organized criminal syndicate working across borders. The group allegedly coordinated with traffickers using: Speedboats Fishing vessels Land-based smuggling routes Spain continues to be a critical entry point for illegal drugs into Europe due to its proximity to Morocco, one of the world’s largest cannabis producers. Locations like Ceuta and Melilla are particularly vulnerable, as they represent the only land borders connecting Europe directly to Africa. The discovery of such a highly engineered tunnel highlights the evolving tactics of international drug cartels and raises concerns about border security worldwide. Authorities say investigations are ongoing, with more arrests expected as they work to dismantle the entire network. https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/04/01/police-discover-secret-drug-tunnel-linking-morocco-to-spain/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod , Seun

Nigerian media personality, Dayo Adeneye, popularly known as D1, has sparked widespread reactions after reflecting on a time when the Nigerian naira held significantly stronger value against the United States dollar. D1 made the revelation during an interview with media entrepreneur, Chude Jideonwo, where he shared a personal experience from his early travels abroad. Two Nigerians, Adebayo Aliu and Fatuntele Tunde, have been arraigned before a Federal High Court over alleged defamation and cyberstalking targeting Moniepoint Microfinance Bank. The case, filed by the Inspector-General of Police, is currently before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia at the Federal High Court in Abuja. According to court documents, the defendants are facing a seven-count charge bordering on cyberstalking and defamation. Eyes Of Lagos reports, The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/122/2026, was filed by a police officer, Anthony Egwu. In one of the counts, Aliu and Tunde were accused of conspiring in January 2026 to orchestrate an online campaign aimed at damaging the reputation of Moniepoint. Alleged Online Campaign The prosecution alleged that the defendants created a fraudulent platform designed to generate misleading online engagement against the company. They were said to have promised a sum of ₦500,000 to unsuspecting individuals who would post comments using the phrase “Moniepoint Scandal” and share fabricated negative experiences about the microfinance bank. According to the police, the action was intended to incite public unrest and disrupt order. The alleged offence is said to contravene provisions of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended in 2024) and is punishable under the law. However, the scheduled arraignment could not proceed as the defendants and their legal representatives were absent in court. Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia subsequently adjourned the matter until April 27, 2026, for arraignment. The case highlights increasing concerns over cyberstalking, misinformation, and the misuse of digital platforms to damage reputations in Nigeria’s fast-growing fintech sector. Legal experts say the outcome of the case could set a precedent for how online defamation and coordinated digital attacks are handled under Nigerian law. https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/03/17/two-nigerians-court-defamation-moniepoint-cyberstalking/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod , Seun

Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Ayra Starr has opened up about the personal experience that inspired her emotional song Where Do We Go, revealing that it was influenced by a complicated secret relationship she once had. The singer shared the story during an interview on Way Up with Angela Yee, where she spoke about the emotional journey behind the track. Eyes Of Lagos reports, According to the “Rush” hitmaker, the relationship was a private and emotionally difficult situationship that only she and her partner knew about. She explained that although the relationship had its challenges, the strong emotional connection between them made it difficult for her to walk away. Ayra Starr said: “It was a secret, unhealthy situationship. No one knew except us. My friends kept telling me to end it, but I loved him and kept going back because we had a real friendship.” The singer noted that despite her feelings for the person, she eventually realised the relationship was not progressing the way she had hoped. This emotional confusion later became the inspiration for the song “Where Do We Go.” She said the song reflects the moment she began questioning the future of the relationship. “It wasn’t going anywhere, so I started asking myself: where do we go from here? I wanted it private, but at the same time I wanted him to fight for me.” The revelation comes amid recent speculation linking the singer with fellow Afrobeats star Rema, although neither artist has confirmed the nature of their relationship. Fans have since taken to social media to share their thoughts, with many praising Ayra Starr for being open about the emotional experiences that inspire her music. The 23-year-old artist has continued to gain international recognition for her unique sound and storytelling, with many listeners relating to the vulnerability expressed in her songs. https://eyesoflagos.com/2026/03/12/ayra-starr-secret-relationship-where-do-we-go/ cc: Mynd44 , Nlfpmod , Seun

Among those present was the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who said he attended the event to celebrate the singer’s achievements and support the initiative. “She is one of our finest talents and today is about celebrating her and supporting this great vision,” the governor stated. The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation is a non-profit organisation focused on providing aspiring artists with music education, mentorship, and industry connections across Africa. The foundation aims to support young creatives in multiple aspects of music, including: Music production Songwriting Sound engineering Music publishing Film scoring Music therapy Music business and industry management Savage explained that the initiative is designed to expose participants to the wider possibilities within the music ecosystem beyond performing alone. “Music changed my life, but talent alone is not enough,” she said. “There are many careers in music — from film scoring to music production and publishing. I want young people to see the full scope of opportunities in this industry.” The foundation’s first program, titled “Berklee in Nigeria: Tiwa Savage Intensive Music Program,” will run from April 23 to April 26, 2026 in Lagos. The initiative is being organised in collaboration with Berklee College of Music, where Savage previously studied after receiving a scholarship earlier in her career. According to Savage, the program will select 100 talented participants, who will receive free world-class music education during the four-day intensive training. The participants will gain practical knowledge in areas such as performance, songwriting, music production, and the business side of the music industry. Savage also revealed that a few exceptional participants may receive full scholarships to study at Berklee College of Music, including accommodation support. “We’re funding this through the foundation so participants won’t have to pay anything,” she said. “This opportunity is for people who are prepared and ready to take their talent to the next level.” Savage noted that the goal of the foundation is not only to nurture talent locally but also to connect African creatives with global opportunities. She said the initiative would serve as a bridge between talented musicians in Africa and the international music industry. “The vision is to build a pipeline that connects African talent to the rest of the world,” she explained.
