EducationUs Academic Report Reveals Most Brilliant Black African Race by AlPicapcI(op): 7:33am On Apr 11, 2016
A United States Academic report for The year 2015 has suggested that the Igbo people of South Eastern Nigeria are the most Brilliant black African Race.
This doesn’t come as much of a shocker taking into account the Two Igbo students who broke records by gaining admissions into 8 Ivy League Schools. The students, Harold Ekeh scored 2270 out of 2400 on his SATs while Augusta Uwamanzu-Nna scored a 101.6 GPA.
17-year-old Harold Ekeh is a senior student at the Elmont Memorial High School in Long Island while Augusta Uwamanzu- Nna is a high-school student from Long Island, New York.
The 8 schools offering the admissions include: Brown University, Columbia University, Cornell University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Princeton University, the University of Pennsylvania and Yale University.
The report reads: “A search through the promotional materials of school for a black student – all schools and colleges would always show some black faces in their promotional materials if they have any – reveals that they have had at least one black student, and it was, unsurprisingly, a Nigerian Igbo.”
According to two online news portal, NBC News and MSN, the two teenagers are faced with “a big decision to make soon.” as Harold Ekeh has 13 admission offer from universities, 8 of which are Ivy League schools which according to NBC makes the choice-making decision harder than usual.
Ekeh while Speaking with NBC News said: “It’s very, like, stunning. It’s like getting hit with a brick, honestly. When you see congratulations, you’re like, wow your hard work has paid off, definitely.”

Christianity EtcReligion And Poverty In Africa. Why Is The ‘most Religious’ Country The ‘poorest by AlPicapcI(op): 10:31am On Mar 21, 2016
Religion and Poverty in Africa. Why is the ‘Most religious’ country the ‘poorest’?

I haven’t been to all countries in Africa but I have seen enough to understand some of the poverty stories that CNN churn out. Many find these reports offensive because it builds a negative continent equity . Alas, it doesn’t show the other beautiful sides of Africa- Our culture, our people, our values, our vibrancy, a rich history, the arable lands, our entrepreneurs, the tourist locations and so much more.

Statista published the list of nationalities that consider religion most important. Interestingly, 7 out of the top 10 countries with the highest ranking are African. Ethiopia ranked 1st with 98% and Nigeria grabbed the 9th position with 88%. No African country made the bottom 10 list. China has just 3% of her population considering religion important in their lives.

Curiosity creeped in and I did a side by side comparison of the GDP/Capita (amount of average income per person in a country) and the Corruption perception index (A ranking of countries according to the extent to which corruption is understood to occur.) I overlapped these with the religion importance ranking and there is a clear INVERSE relationship between the religion dependency and both the corruption and poverty levels.

Key insights.
China is the LEAST religious country yet its corruption perception level is lower than 7 of the most religious countries.
Ethiopia is the MOST religious country yet it is the ‘poorest’ within this pool which is counter intuitive.
Ukraine which has the lowest GDP/Capita amongst the least religious countries is richer than 90% of the most religious countries.
70% of the least religious countries are less corrupt than the most religious countries.
Japan, the 2nd least religious country ranks 18th on corruption perception index ahead of EVERY top 10 religious country.
From this, it shows the religious dependency in Africa hasn’t translated to lower corruption nor improved economic conditions . Does this mean Africans should become less religious?

I believe some of these actions will go a long way to help.

Focus more on Salvation versus Religion. There will be fewer wars if personal salvation is the focus versus religious intolerance or advocacy.
Practice the GOLDEN rule. ‘Do unto others as you want them to do unto you’. Do this EVERYDAY no matter your title or hierarchy.
Show Love. These days, LOVE is becoming one of the world’s scarcest resources, ahead of precious stones and Energy. If we all truly loved our neighbors, we will think of common good versus personal greed. There will be better leadership , less public funds looting, fewer traffic offences, less hate campaigns, less fake drugs in circulation, less pollution, less oil pipelines damages, less sabotage, less social media bullying. The list is endless
Do what God has placed in your abilities already. This is a sensitive one as it can come across as being less God dependent but the truth is God has given us brains already. Creation is already done; it is not work in progress. We have been given health, amazing arable land, great weather, natural resources and more. We are 1.1 billion Africans; we are 15% of the worlds’ population. It is up to us to turn Africa around.
Why are some of the most religious countries the poorest corrupt countries whilst some of the least religious are the richest and least corrupt?

It is often said that curiosity killed the cat. What are your thoughts?

EducationRe: The Professor Said Dat Dere Is No God, Checkout D Student's Answer by AlPicapcI(m): 1:16pm On Jan 11, 2016
kentozybee:
An atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand:
‘You’re a Christian, aren’t you, son?’
‘Yes sir,’ the student says.
‘So you believe in God?’
‘Absolutely. ’
‘Is God good?’
‘Sure! God’s good.’
‘Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?’
‘Yes.’
‘Are you good or evil?’
‘The Bible says I’m evil.’
The professor grins knowingly. ‘Aha! The Bible! He considers for a moment. ‘Here’s one for you. Let’s say there’s a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?’
‘Yes sir, I would.’
‘So you’re good…!’
‘I wouldn’t say that.’
‘But why not say that? You’d help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn’t.’
The student does not answer, so the professor continues. ‘He doesn’t, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you answer that one?’
The student remains silent. ‘No, you can’t, can you?’ the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax ‘Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?’
‘Er…yes,’ the student says.
‘Is Satan good?’
The student doesn’t hesitate on this one. ‘No.’
‘Then where does Satan come from?’
The student falters. ‘From God’
‘That’s right. God made Satan, didn’t he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?’
‘Yes, sir…’
‘Evil’s everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything, correct?’
‘Yes.’
‘So who created evil?’ The professor continued, ‘If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.’
Again, the student has no answer. ‘Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?’
The student squirms on his feet. ‘Yes.’
‘So who created them?’
The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. ‘Who created them?’ There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. ‘Tell me,’ he continues onto another student. ‘Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?’
The student’s voice betrays him and cracks. ‘Yes, professor, I do.’
The old man stops pacing. ‘Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?’
‘No sir. I’ve never seen Him.’
‘Then tell us if you’ve ever heard your Jesus?’
‘No, sir, I have not…’
‘Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?’
‘No, sir, I’m afraid I haven’t.’
‘Yet you still believe in him?’
‘Yes.’
‘According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn’t exist… What do you say to that, son?’
‘Nothing,’ the student replies… ‘I only have my faith.’
‘Yes, faith,’ the professor repeats. ‘And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence…only faith.’
The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. ‘Professor, is there such thing as heat? ’
‘Yes.’
‘And is there such a thing as cold?’
‘Yes, son, there’s cold too.’
‘No sir, there isn’t.’
The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. ‘You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don’t have anything called ‘cold’. We can hit d own to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest –458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, ‘cold’ is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.’
Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.
‘What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?’
‘Yes,’ the professor replies without hesitation… ‘What is night if it isn’t darkness?’
‘You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? That’s the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?’
The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. ‘So what point are you making, young man?’
‘Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.’
The professor’s face cannot hide his surprise this time. ‘Flawed? Can you explain how?’
‘You are working on the premise of duality,’ the student explains… ‘You argue that there is life and then there’s death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but it has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.’
‘Now tell me, professor… Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?’
‘If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.’
‘Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?’
The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.
‘Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?’
The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. ‘To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.’ The student looks around the room. ‘Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor’s brain?’ The class breaks out into laughter. ‘Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor’s brain, felt the professor’s brain, touched or smelt the professor’s brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.’ ‘So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?’
Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. ‘I guess you’ll have to take them on faith.’
‘Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,’ the student continues. ‘Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?’ Now uncertain, the professor responds, ‘Of course, there is. We see it every day. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.’
To this the student replied, ‘Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.’
The professor sat down.
The student was Albert Einstein.

Technology MarketFG Plans To Acquire Three Jf-17-fighter Jet by AlPicapcI(op): 10:42am On Jan 08, 2016
WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Nigeria plans to acquire three JF-17 Thunder multirole fighter aircraft in 2016, becoming the first export operator for the planes.

The procurement plans, which set aside $25 million for the fighters, were reported by Nigerian newspaper Punch. The Nigerian government also plans to acquire ten PAC Super Mushshak basic trainers and two Mi-35M helicopters.

Punch obtained the information on the government's procurement plans from a leaked copy of their 2016 budget, which was presented to the National Assembly by Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari in December 2015.

Nigerian defense officials have been reportedly interested in the JF-17 following the IDEAS 2014 exhibition in Pakistan. DefenceWeb reports that during the exhibition a Pakistani defense official stated Nigeria was close to signing a contract for the jets to modernize its air force.

The JF-17 Thunder multirole fighter jet is a lightweight, single-engine aircraft developed in a joint-venture between the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and China's state-owned Chengdu Aircraft Corporation.

The jet is armed with a 23mm GSh-23-2 twin-barrel autocannon, and can be equipped with both air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles. The jet is in service only in Pakistan.

Checkout a peculiar definition of Nigeria System of government, this certifies the argument of Nigeria not practicing Democracy as claimed.

Prebendalism refers to political systems where elected officials, and government workers feel they have a right to a share of government revenues, and use them to benefit their supporters, co-religionists and members of their ethnic group. The term is commonly used to describe the patterns of corruption in Nigeria.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 10 Things To Quit Putting On Your Resumes by AlPicapcI(m): 2:52pm On Sep 08, 2015
Gboliwe:
1. References Upon Request :

“References Upon Request,” at the bottom of a resume is completely unnecessary! I get that you want to be as upfront and honest with your prospective employer, but that is an understood statement and it is not necessary to write on the bottom.

2. Hobbies or Community Activities:

Please, for the love of all people, quit putting things on your resume that could discredit you before you get the chance to interview. If you like to fish, don’t put it on your resume! You have no way of knowing if the hiring authority you are sending this to is the state PETA president. Putting hobbies or community activities on your resume could get you thrown to the “No” pile, before you get your foot in the door. Stick with business and leave any personal information!

3. The dreaded “Summary” or “Objective”:

It’s like Nancy Reagan said…JUST SAY NO! I understand you want to give a “summary” or “objective” of what you’re looking for, but unless it is imperative or extremely well written, it is unlikely an overwhelmed HR person or an executive recruiter, like myself will actually read it.

4. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

All resume headings should be in capital letters and be underlined. When listing your work history it should say “Professional Experience,” not recent experience or work history. This creates a more tactful way of listing your months and years you were employed for each company.

5. Be wise with Education:

Unless you have a bachelor’s degree or higher, move your education to the bottom. If you have NO education, DO NOT put education or some education. Leave the entire section out. If you have certifications put that as your header, not education, and keep it on the bottom of the resume, AFTER your professional experience.

6. Your College:

Employers don’t want to know the college, before the degree. Quit putting the college on top! The most common mistake I see on a resume is bolding the College, instead of the degree. For example if you have an MBA – bold that, on a separate line (preferably beneath the bolded degree) list your college.

7. Education from 1978?:

Why on earth are you going to put the degree you obtained 20 years ago before the degree you obtained 2 years ago. I don’t want to know that you graduated in 1978 with an Associates degree if you have graduated with another degree in 2004. Always put your most recent degree on top. Employers want to see that you have continued education, if applicable. If you have an MBA and graduated in 2004 it should like this:

Masters in Business Administration, 2004
Bachelor in Business, 2000
8. The 1 Page Resume Restriction:

Oh dear…why? Unless you have worked at only one place throughout your career, the old adage that your resume should fit on one page is NOT accurate. And please for the love of all things, anything under 11 font is ridiculous! I don’t want to have to use a magnifying glass to read what you have written. Think easy to scan, quick to obtain the information, and easy enough to read to GET YOU AN INTERVIEW.

9. Your Name and Address:

Your name should be in a larger font than the address, email address, and contact phone. It should stand out and grab the attention of the hiring authority.

10. Spelling or Grammatical Errors:

The goal of sending the resume to a hiring authority is to get an interview. Make sure it is easy to read, there are no spelling errors, or grammatical errors. This is the door that needs to be open to get the job of your dream. Make sure it is the best representation of what you can bring to a new company!
