PoliticsRe: Rivers PDP Faction Expels Amaechi by aluta2(op): 2:16pm On Jul 21, 2013
A faction of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said contrary to claims in some quarters, Governor Rotimi Amaechi is still a member of the ruling party.

It would be recalled that the Felix Obuah-led faction of PDP had on Friday announced the expulsion of the governor from the party citing the recent solidarity visit of some governors from the North and those from opposition to him (Amaechi) as reason for taking the decision.
However, debunking the report of the expulsion of Amaechi from the party, the factional state Publicity Secretary, Mr. George Ukwuoma-Nwogba in a statement, described the utterances of the state Secretary of the PDP, Mr. Ibibia Walter, as ‘unfortunate.’
Walter, who announced Amaechi’s expulsion on behalf of Mr. Obuah, had alleged that the governor was doling out state funds to his colleagues from others states for political gains.
But Ukwuoma-Nwogba dismissed the allegation saying, “The unfortunate utterances of Mr. lbibia Walter is unbecoming of a true party man. The likes of lbibia Walter are those destroying Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State through their unguarded utterances.

“However, for the interest of the general public and the faithful, our Governor, Chibuike Amaechi who is Chairman, Nigeria Governors’ Forum remains not only in PDP, but is also the leader in the state.
“Let Walter lbibia accept the fact that Governor Amaechi remains key to the continued electoral victory of the PDP in Rivers state. The governor remains committed to his membership of the PDP and as Chairman of NGF can play host to members of that forum either in Minna, Okrika or Abuja.”
Ukwuoma-Nwogba argued that the state PDP scribe should seek find a way to gain the confidence of the governor if he (Walter) meant well for the party just as he berated him for addressing Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka with disrespect.source

kel4soft: Walter, Obuah, Wike and the rest, they make me laugh. The state chairman can't suspend or expel a Governor, is only the NWC and NEC that have the impetus. Beside, Amaechi's suspension is in court and PDP can't act until the court process is over. That said, Felix Obuah faction are only boiling and frustrated because their mission last week thursday failed.
You correct, the case is already in court which the NWC and NEC is aware off. Those other faction are suppose to wait for de outcome of the court to take a decision. What happen just comfirm the high rate of impunity in this country.

A faction of the People’s Democratic Party, loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan, has announced the expulsion of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from the party.

The announcement came less than 24 hours after eight Nigerian governors in the putative All Progressives Congress, advised Amaechi to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan and brief him on the security crisis rocking the state.

The faction accused Amaechi of leading the opposition and of being a member of the yet to be registered APC, ” to achieve what it called a “Vice-Presidential ambition.”

Ibibia Walters, secretary of the faction declared at a Press Conference in Port Harcourt today:

“The PDP therefore bids him farewell from the party and also wishes him well in his future endeavours with the yet to be registered A.P C,while calling all and sundry to rally round President Goodluck Jonathan”

Walters accused the governor of flagrant abuse of office, claiming that the people of the state were dismayed that the Governor now basks in euphoria of his newfound role as the leader of opposition in the country as demonstrated by the solidarity visit of governors from the north.

The party also took a swipe at the Governor’s relationship with Professor Wole Soyinka and some opposition Governors, who they said have turned Amaechi’s “ mouthpiece”.

Walters accused Amaechi of funnelling the state’s funds into the handsof fellow opposition members, ”forgetting that everything one does has a price.”

They also slammed him of dramatically arranging the suspension of the executive chairman, the Vice Chairman and the seventeen Councillors of the Obio-Akpor Local Government through the State House of Assembly.

@aluta do u knw how many came for d 2010 asp interview? Do u knw if all were picked nd some droped?..wats gona hapen 2 lagos candidates who got txt 4 interview nd found dia name missing on d list?..irregularities here nd dia..360 names minus lagos candidates..how do u tink psc's gona rationalize dat? I believe d final list has already been drafted cuz in reference 2 2010 nd 2011 recruitment, among d listed names, sum numbers are blanked(wit no names)..2 me it implies dat folowing d selection proces of dia interview,dy were dropped(may b dy didnt cum 4 d interview in d first place) which result dia names bin cancelled on d list..I believe God has d final say over dis recruitment
PSC has another list apart from de one pasted. Peeople dat got text message n dere name was not found were allow to go in for de interview. U can't compare dis recruitment wit 2010..PSC has change dere policy about recruitment. I read in de paper some month back about federal character in de police, de PSC director of information said de era wen governor force candidate who are not qualify is gone. any state dat doesnot have candidate, candidate from state zone will be consider just as million joy as expanciate. Dis recruitment is a serious one. I guess if it was tru de state, zonal and national screnning we wnt tru I don't tink most of us we make it to this stage. Dis particular recruitment its different. I just pray de best candidate are selected

in reference to 2010 apointment of specialist/professionals, each state carries at least 30 candidates nd at most 34 candidates.in my own over many category(7),we all did well in the interview nd i dnt c any reason for any of us to b dropped.also in reference to what an SP said in d credential screening room,he said "for you to have gotten to dis stage,no one would be dropped" and concluded by sayin "dont worry"..he was referrin 2 all dat came for d interview..i believe d only reason for any of us 2 b dropped is if ur cert is detected 2 be fake ...i believe God wuldn't give up on us now dat we at d final stage, dats nt possible!!!!..so lets keep hope alive and believe he has done it
U compare a seleection of 2010 to nw, de post advertise is more dan 10 for de 2010 and ours is 4. De best analysis is de one done by million joy, take it or leave some people will be drop.just pray and believe ur name is dere.

Abubakar, IGP Inspects College, Shuns Journalists

By Ayodeji Dedeigbo & Oluwasanmi Joseph

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, Friday visited the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, to assess the ongoing rehabilitation of the college but barred journalists from covering the visit.

Abubakar arrived the Police College at about 5:30p.m.

Shortly on arrival, he promised to brief the newsmen drawn from various media houses after the exercise, but later shunned them when they tried to speak with him on the state of facilities in the college.

The newsmen were invited to the venue by the Lagos State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Ms Ngozi Braide.

Braide invited the journalists, according to police sources, following an instruction by the commandant of the college.

some of the buildings being renovated

Shortly after the departure of Abubakar, a police officer told the surprised journalists that the police boss specifically instructed that he did not need the presence of the newsmen at the venue.

The decrepit college had become a source of embarrassment to the Federal Government after Channels Television exposed the inhuman condition in which recruits live in the college owing to the poor facilities there.

While the IG was on tour of the college, it was observed that a Nigerian military officer took him round the facilities being upgraded.

He is Brigadier A. O. Shodunnke.

He appears to head a renovation team that has other soldiers on board, as the soldiers were seen giving orders , and releasing building materials to the contractors on site.
