A faction of the People’s Democratic Party, loyal to President Goodluck Jonathan, has announced the expulsion of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi from the party.

The announcement came less than 24 hours after eight Nigerian governors in the putative All Progressives Congress, advised Amaechi to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan and brief him on the security crisis rocking the state.

The faction accused Amaechi of leading the opposition and of being a member of the yet to be registered APC, ” to achieve what it called a “Vice-Presidential ambition.”

 Ibibia Walters, secretary of the faction declared at a Press Conference in Port Harcourt today:

“The PDP therefore bids him farewell from the party and also wishes him well in his future endeavours with the yet to be registered A.P C,while calling all and sundry to rally round President Goodluck Jonathan”

Walters accused the governor of flagrant abuse of office, claiming that the people of the state were dismayed that the Governor now basks in euphoria of his newfound role as the leader of opposition in the country as demonstrated by the solidarity visit of governors from the north.

The party also took a swipe at the Governor’s relationship with Professor Wole Soyinka and some opposition Governors, who they said have turned Amaechi’s “ mouthpiece”.

Walters accused Amaechi of funnelling the state’s funds into the handsof fellow opposition members, ”forgetting that everything one does has a price.”

They also slammed him of dramatically arranging the suspension of the executive chairman,the Vice Chairman and the seventeen Councillors of the Obio-Akpor Local Government through the State House of Assembly.

You correct, the case is already in court which the NWC and NEC is aware off. Those other faction are suppose to wait for de outcome of the court to take a decision. What happen just comfirm the high rate of impunity in this country.

A bunch of circus clowns, no democratic credential, no respect for the law.

The NWC of the party suspended him, and he is currently challenging his suspension in court, and which the court has ordered the PDP to maintain the status quo(stopped from taking further action) pending hearing on the suit challenging his suspension by the party. So the purported expulsion is illegal.

These men are the same mischief-makers who continue to manufacture and sell rumors, sow seeds of discord between Amaechi and the President.

While I can't wait to see him being kicked out of the party, due process must be followed. The case I understand is in court and the law should rule.

By the way, why is the Nigerian media portraying Obuh led PDP exco as a faction? The court ruled in Obuh's favour and he was duly sworn in. PDP national, INEC and the rest recognise him as Chairman.
