PhonesGoogle Engineer Apologizes After Photos App Tags Two Black People As Gorillas by Amaechi5(op): 8:41am On Jul 02, 2015
Google came under fire this week after its new Photos app categorized photos in one of the most racist ways possible. On June 28th, computer programmer Jacky Alciné found that the feature kept tagging pictures of him and his girlfriend as "gorillas." He tweeted at Google asking what kind of sample images the company had used that would allow such a terrible mistake to happen.

Google’s chief social architect Yonatan Zunger responded quickly, apologizing for the feature.
As part of the new Photos app, users’ photos can be tagged and arranged automatically based on objects in the photos. For instance, pictures of skyscrapers are all arranged in an album appropriately labeled "skyscrapers." The tag feature learns as it receives more data, refining its method for recognizing and categorizing objects. The feature is flawed, but categorization isn’t the only step in photography that companies have had trouble with.

For years, Kodak used a coating on its film that favored Caucasian skin tones, making it more difficult to shoot darker skin. Nikon and other consumer camera companies have also had a history of showing bias to white faces with their facial recognition software. Zunger says that Google has had similar issues with facial recognition due to inadequate analysis of skin tones and lighting. "We used to have a problem with people (of all races) being tagged as dogs," Zunger says.

Google attempted to fix the algorithm, but ultimately removed the gorilla label altogether. Zunger noted that the company is working on longer-term fixes that revolve around which labels could be problematic and better recognition of dark-skinned faces.

PhonesSamsung Patent Could Double Smartphone Battery Life by Amaechi5(op): 6:57am On Jun 29, 2015
Samsung has developed a method that could nearly double the capacity of lithium-ion batteries, those found in current smartphone models. The technology involves adding a silicon material to the traditional lithium-ion layer that would increase the energy density and longevity of the battery.

The trick is taking advantage of a silicon coating that supports graphene (pure carbon) growth on top of the battery’s silicon nanoparticles but does not cause a silicon carbide formation that would disrupt the energy transfer. In research testing, this format increased energy densities from 1.5 to 1.8 times higher than current levels. The results were published online in Nature last week.

The research was led by In Hyuk Son and Jong Hwan Park, members of Samsung’s Advanced Institute of Technology and Energy Material Lab in Korea, who collaborated with other associated, Korean researchers of materials science. Samsung is currently in the process of patenting the technology, the research paper said.

Battery technology has long been one of the banes of smartphone technology. While camera functions, processing speeds and storage space have significantly improved over the years, smartphone battery life has fallen behind as sleeker, more powerful devices are pushed. This graph details the small progresses in battery technology over the years

That isn’t to say researchers, both those affiliated with smartphone manufacturers and those in materials science labs across the world, have not studied the subject and made breakthrough discoveries. In October 2014, a team of scientists at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore discovered a way to supercharge a battery from dead to 70 percent in less than 2 minutes, according to a press release. The researchers replaced the graphite found in a traditional lithium-ion battery with titanium dioxide.

As 9to5Google notes, Samsung’s new system could be used to make the phone slimmer or the battery power last longer. Regardless of what role the research ultimately fulfills, the technology will take time to enter the consumer market as more tests are needed. Consumers should not expect the see the technology implemented in upcoming Samsung smartphone models.

PhonesGuidelines On Choosing A Mobile Phone To Buy by Amaechi5(op): 2:11pm On Jun 27, 2015
Whenever there is a need for us to buy a mobile phone or tablet, we always come up with the question which phone should I go for, which operating system will i like most
and sometimes we gets so confused on the mobile phone you want especially as it is now every mobile phone brand brings out a flagship device in each calendar year. Like this year you hear of IPhone 6, Galaxy s6, LG G4 etc and one will be confused on which one to go for depending how much is in your pocket.

So i will be showing the guidelines on purchasing or buying a mobile phone or tablet.

Your pocket: when you want to buy a phone, you will first consider how much money is in your pocket cause the money you have can also determine the quality of a phone you will go for. So even if you don't have enough money to go for a flagship or a high quality phone, try and go for a better one but not the cheap ones cause cheap mobile phones won't give you the fulfillment or full satisfaction others will give you.

Operating System Of The Phone: Another thing to consider when planning to buy a phone is the operating system, Android, Ios or Windows or blackberry. Android phones are becoming more popular every day, and for a good reason Android phones are powerful, attractive, and easy to use and equally many are affordable.

Ios operating system is also very good and powerful with a very powerful camera features, the screen sharpness and the softwares etc. But sometimes it isn't as easy as Android when operating it. And the demand for the it is very high even with the high cost of purchasing it.

Windows phone is very nice phone though is not as popular like the other two but it is a good phone that one can have like their home screen is superb, screen clarity is nice, the sound when playing music is very good and all that.

BlackBerry os too nice though they seems to be fading away as days goes by. So when buying a phone or tablet know very well the operating system that will fulfill your demand in a smartphone.

Knowing the features of the phone: When buying a phone, you will also check the features of the phone you want to buy. Like the camera, Internet speed, touch screen, memory of the phone, messaging etc.

Design: Mobile phone design is another thing to look into when buying a phone, depending on your choice, maybe you would like to have a phone that is too thick, or a rugged looking phone, or a sleek phone. So when making your choice make sure you choose the one you will be comfortable with.

Screen Size: This is plays huge when buying a phone, what is actually the size of phone i want to have is it 4.5,4.9,5.0, 5.2 or 5.5. You might be the type that play games so much and would want to watch movies with your phone, then i big screen size from 5.0 is the perfect answer. So screen size determines too depending on what you actually want to do with your device.

Battery of the Phone : The battery is also an essential thing to consider when choosing a mobile phone. Heavy mobile phone users usually go for a phone that has a long battery life like from 3000mAh - 4000mAh. You will have to know yourself if you a heavy phone user or a casual user cause it will determine the battery life you should choose.

Other key features to consider when buying a mobile phone or tablet are

The camera and screen resolution
Phone memory and the RAM of the phone
The Phone CPU
Mobile network: CDMA,HSPA+, 4G and LTE
Bluetooth, NFC

PhonesBest Android Screen Recorder by Amaechi5(op): 1:01pm On Jun 25, 2015
Hey guys i want to share with you guys Android screen recorder which you can use to record everything that is happening on your Android smartphone screen and can as well share the video to your friends be it your gaming or anything you are actually doing with your phone.
Another good thing i like about the screen recorder is you can give your friend or girlfriend your phone and just record whatever they are doing with your phone without their notice, sounds mischievous but yeah i like it.

Rec Recorder

Rec. is an Android screen recording app with an elegant interface .When you open the app, all you need to do is adjust the bit rate and duration according to your preference before you tap on ‘Record’ at the bottom to start.

You can also enable audio recording and name your recording before you start the recording as well, and you can also hide the record notification so that no one will know that you are recording your home screen. The cons of this recorder Audio recording is inevitably poor but other wise is a very good screen recording app.

Download Rec recorder from here www.datafilehost.com/d/54720a86

Recordable

Recordable is the easy way to create high quality screen recordings on Android. It also allows you to record everything that happens on the screen of your Android device without having to root the device.

The video files created by this app will be saved as MP4s on your device's memory and the resolution will be the same as the resolution that your Android device has, so the quality is usually excellent.

Download Recordable from here www.nextwap.net/mobile/WV2_PM1Cce/recordable_pro.html

So thats my best two Android screen recorder, though there are quite number of them in Google play store but i prefer this two. If you have better ones, you can share with me.

SportsDangote: I Am Ready To Buy Arsenal At ‘whatever Price’ by Amaechi5(op): 10:10am On Jun 18, 2015
Business mogul, Aliko Dangote, is insisting that soon he will have “enough time and enough resources” to buy Arsenal Football Club, whatever the price.
Dangote, 58, is Africa’s richest man having amassed a fortune in the region of $18.4 billion (£12.2 billion). He is currently the 67th richest man in the world.
He first spoke of his interest in purchasing the Gunners two years ago and restated it last month when he admitted that one day he hoped to buy the club, adding that he already knew his strategy to take them forward.
That day may arrive sooner than first expected, with Dangote telling the BBC wednesday that the completion of his proposed oil refinery in Nigeria would provide the funds necessary to launch a takeover of the club.
“When we get this refinery on track, I will have enough time and enough resources to pay what they are asking for,” he told the BBC Hausa service.
“There were a couple of us who were rushing to buy, and we thought with the prices then, the people who were interested in selling were trying to go for a kill,” Dangote continued.
“We backtracked, because we were very busy doing other things, especially our industrialisation.”
“They are doing well, but they need another strategic direction,” he added. “They need more direction than the current situation, where they just develop players and sell them.”
Stan Kroenke is Arsenal’s majority shareholder, with the American owning 66.64 per cent of the club’s parent company, Arsenal Holdings Plc.
