Different reports have been moving around on the launch date of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 with some claimed it will be on the 11 of August, some said 12 but today Korean media confirmed the launch date of the Galaxy Note 5 which will be on the 13th of August and it will be held in New York. They also said that the event would also bring us the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, the larger version of Samsung’s curved screen flagship. Business Korea believes that the move to an earlier launch is due to the fact that Samsung wants to counter Apple’s upcoming unveiling of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. “It is believed that Samsung tries to not only check Apple, which threatens its number one position in global smartphone market share, but also capture consumers before the release of the iPhone 6S in Sep“, claims the report. The report also reiterates some of the specs we should expect for these two upcoming devices. For the Galaxy Note 5: 5.7 inch QHD Super AMOLED display, Exynos 7422 processor, 4GB of RAM, 16MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), S-Pen. For the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus: “a note without a stylus”, claims the report, with the same specs as above, except for the RAM, which is said to be 3GB instead of 4. Source: Business Korea Nawaooo better thing no dey finish at all, na so every year dis kind eye catching phones dey come out. Sticking to my lg g2 and Galaxy s5 till the next 3yrs.

Now we are in a market where there are so many smartphones with different display and sometimes we get confused on choosing the one we like. Display type is one of the major things to consider when buying a smartphone, so when you are under the sun or a very bright light you can still operate your device without having any problem looking into your phone. We want a display with high pixel density for clearimage, as less glare as possible and as bright as it can get for those sunny days, and as vibrant colours for joyable watching experience and It's good to always go for best especially if you can afford to. If you are confused with the best display you want in a smartphone, just sit back and continue reading. Touchscreen Display A touch screen display is a display screen that is also an input device. The screen is sensitive to pressure; a user interacts with the device by touching pictures or words on the screen with a finger or soft object. Types of touchscreen display Resistive touchscreen: Resistive touchscreen displays are composed of multiple layers that are separated by thin spaces. Pressure applied to the surface of the display by a finger or stylus causes the layers to touch, which completes electrical circuits and tells the device where the user is touching. Resistive type touchscreens require much more pressure to activate than capacitive touchscreens. As it is now there is no new smartphone with this kind of display anymore. Capacitive touchscreens: Capacitive touchscreen displays rely on the electrical properties of the human body to detect when and where on a display the user touches, by so doing the display can be controlled with very light touches of a finger and generally cannot be used with a mechanical stylus or a gloved hand. LCD: Liquid Crystal Display is the most common screen display in the world, and we have different types of liquid crystal displays (LCD). From cheap, low budget display technologies with dull colours and poor viewing angles, to high end ones, capable of presenting extremely vivid, natural colours with wide viewing angles. LCD screens produce some of the most realistic colors you can find on a screen, but might not offer as wide of a contrast ratio (darker darks and brighter brights) as an AMOLED screen. We also have different types of LCD like TFT LCD, IPS LCD, S-LCD, SUPER LCD, SUPER LCD 2 etc. TFT LCD: thin film transistor is a type of LCD flat-panel display screen, in which each pixel is controlled by from one to four transistors. The TFT technology provides the best resolution of all the flat-panel techniques. One disadvantage of TFT is that it has poor viewing angles and outdoor visibility under direct sunlight. They ought to consume more power, and.drain battery very fast. TFT screens are sometimes called active-matrix LCDs. The cost of producing TFT screen is low and that's why it's mostly seen on low-end smartphones. IPS LCD: IPS stands for in-plane switching. An IPS-LCD is a type of thin display that offers better viewing angles than TFT-LCDs. IPS-LCDs feature two transistors for each pixel and viewing angles are wider, outdoor visibility is better and should consumes less power. Production cost is a little higher, that is why we encounter them in high end phones. Super LCD: This differs from regular LCD by removed gap between glass and display panel, making better viewing angles, less glare and nicer look, picture appears closer to you, feels more natural and warmer. Super LCD is very popular in HTC smartphone phones though was actually produced by Sony. Super LCD2: this is just an updated version of super LCD with a very little features but almost the same function. OLED: Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display technology is much better as compared to the LCD display technology because of its excellent colour reproduction, faster response times, wider viewing angles, higher brightness and extremely light weight designs. OLEDs are solid-state devices composed of thin films of organic molecules that create light with the application of electricity. The plastic, organic layers of an OLED are thinner, lighter and more flexible than the crystalline layers in an LED or LCD. There are two types of OLED touchscreen, AMOLED and Super AMOLED touchscreen. AMOLED TOUCHSCREEN: AMOLED stands for Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode. A step ahead of OLED screens, the AMOLED screens can control each pixel individuality while maintaining the properties of a OLED panel. AMOLED screens have all the attributes of an OLED display like brilliant color reproduction, light weight, better battery life, higher brightness and sharpness and light weight designs. Production cost of AMOLED touch screen is very high and that's why is mostly seen on high end smartphones. Super AMOLED: Super AMOLED display technology is an advanced version of AMOLED display. Super AMOLED display is built with touch sensors on the display itself, as opposed to creating a separate touch sensitive layer (as in capacitive touchscreen), this makes it the thinnest display technology on the market. Super AMOLED displays are also much more responsive than other AMOLED displays and developed by Samsung. Retina Display: Retina Display is a term used by Apple for its high resolution (640 x 960 pixels) IPS LCD (with backlit LED) used by them in iPhone4 in June 2010. They call it the Retina display because its pixels cannot be individually identified by the human eye, thus making the display super sharp and brilliant. Haptic/Tactile touchscreen: Haptic technology has been used by Blackberry and Nokia Lumia phones for their touchscreen smartphones targeted towards enterprise market. This technology provides a tactile feedback on a touch action on the screen thus providing an immediate and unmistakable confirmation to the user. Gorilla Glass: Gorilla Glass is a special alkali-aluminosilicate glass shield with exceptional damage resistance that helps protect mobile displays from scratches, drops, and bumps of everyday use. Many companies like Motorola, Samsung and Nokia are now using Gorilla Glass to make their mobile displays more durable and reliable. And that's is, if you want to buy a smartphone today consider the touchscreen display and the touch itself and i will candidly advice you to choose between IPS LCD or Any of the OLED touchscreen with Gorilla Glass from 2-3 though smartphones with such are usually high end device. zpykios..nl/2015/07/choosing-your-smartphone-touchscreen-display.html?m=1 |

Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual assistant for Android has been leaked online and is available for download. Currently, beta version of the Cortana app is available for all Android devices running 4.4 and above. The app, which can be downloaded and installed on any phone running Android 4.4 and above, brings Microsoft's personal digital assistant the billion or so users of Android. Cortana is Microsoft's version of Siri and Google Now and seeing that the digital assistant will be shipping with Windows 10 and Microsoft hopes that OS will reach a billion users within the next three years, the platform is about to expand its user base by a boat load of users. By also releasing this app for Android and iOS, Cortana is set to be the most widely distributed digital assistant on the market. The app, which has been crashing quite a bit on our device but it is a leak after-all, is just like Cortana on Windows 10. But, this version does not support 'Hey Cortana' but besides that, will feel familiar to anyone who has used the feature before. We will be curious to see how the iOS app compares to that of the Android version. By its very nature, Android is much more open and allows developers to dive deeper into the OS whereas iOS is limited in this regard. The US Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Linda Thomas-Greenfield (pictured above) has stated that they would continue to pressurize Nigeria until it legalizes same sex marriage. She made this known on Monday July 13 during a live-web chat with journalists in Washington. "As a government, it is one of the highest priorities and strongest values that discrimination against anyone based on their sexual orientation and gender identity is wrong. We believe human rights should be available to everybody. As a policy, we will continue to press the government of Nigeria, as well as other governments which have provided legislation that discriminate against the LGBT community. This is very much a work in progress, but I think you will agree with me that the law in Nigeria really went far in discriminating against this community but also people who associate with them. So, we will continue to press the government, to press the legislature to change these laws and provide human rights for all Nigerian people regardless of their sexual orientation. With what is happening in the US, you can determine how far we are willing to go. We strongly believe human rights for all people and we are particularly opposed to legislation that actually targets the gay community for discrimination. So we are prepared to push this as a policy, not just in Africa but across the world.” http://lindaikeji..in/2015/07/lol-us-vows-to-pressurize-nigeria-to.html?m=1
