How do i even locate the thermostat

Bought my Peugeot 406 in April and have been studying it since.Its the 1.8L variant(assembled by PAN in 2006).it seems that the former owners tampered with the fan.It has double fans and these fans are always on.Having read various contributors on the issue of engine over cooling,i want to restore the fan to the manufacture's settings but the electricians i have met,warn me about doing that.The said the thermostat may not be working and the vehicle may start to overheat.How do i confirm that the thermostat is working.

Make sure you test before you pay, if you want to buy one from anybody. I have learnt my lessons.

Try plugging it into the OBDII port of an another OBDII ready vehicle.That way we could check if it is working.Some scanners that work on Asian vehicles may not work on European vehicles or even American Vehicles

Ikenna351: Yes,Clutch Throw-out bearing would make such sound when it fails. And if you keep using it in that condition, it will kill Clutch Pressure Plate. I believe water entered bellhousing and damaged the throw-out bearing. See what cleaning engine with high pressured water has cost you.

You don't have to undergo any training to use OBD II scanner. It comes with user manual. Or you google it.

I believe truth should be the minimum with regards to our dealings on Nairaland.In your post,you said the Honda's engine is sound,said also that it had no other issues aside the faulty gear box.When some one observed that looking at the engine bay,the vehicle appeared accidented,you denied the fact.
I left all i had to do today and went to see this "cheap" baby which my kid brother was tripping for.I met a man that had a strange goatee and we got down to business.My Observations:
1.The vehicle is accidented,the engine bay clearly shows that.
2.The Engine Smokes (Blue Smoke)
3.The Transmission is Bad.
4.Vehicle has soaked plugs and would only travel to "anywhere" in a dream.
Sorry,i had to tell you this way but i'm pissed off.Imagine travelling two(2)hours for a "good" deal,only to discover it's a lemon as the American's say.

Apologies for sounding ignorant.Pls which one is secondary fuel filter.I use a Nigerian Assembly(PAN)Peugeot406(EW10)and i just changed the fuel filter which is under the vehicle on the passenger side.Would that be the primary or secondary fuel filter.

Sometime ago Sienna in a fit suggested that a mechanic should be shot for an off the mark suggestion.Then i felt he was being too hard on our local techs.Today i really felt the same way.I discovered today that the mechanic who handled the 406 i recently bought removed the air filter in trying to resolve a matter that was obviously caused by a faulty MAF.Nigerian mechanics are a nightmare.

MrMexs007: Bros the fact it was shipped from the USA doesnt mean it is american spec...Check the country of assembly (bottom part of the Driver seat belt)that would tell you which spec it is. There are no American assembled Peugeot. Just like saying a UK assembled Honda Accord. You can count the number of Honda (any model) in the whole UK same with number of Peugeot in the USA (probably shipped into the USA from France) but not assembled in the USA

[color=#000099][/color]Didn't want to join issues.After the poor performance of the 405 in the US Market,Peugeot beat a retreat from that Market.The 406 was not officially sold in the US.All the same the 406 is a great saloon,i use one(assembled in 2006 by PAN Nigeria).
