Politics › Re: Tinibu Could Not Make Ribadu President In ACN Now Claims He Made Buhari by ambale(m): 12:35am On Jul 13, 2025 |
Putindbutt: I have already addressed your dry talk on the earlier thread. In 2013, 2014 and 2015, when the merger was formed and the horse trading during the election, you were a kid collecting food money from your parents. Those people closer to Buhari in CPC have told you Boss Mustapha was yapping dust. You can either rest or continue in your delusion.
Tinubu gave Ribadu and Atiku platform under AC to contest. At the time, AC was still a young party and regional party just like CPC under Buhari was a regional party that could not make him the President. Until they came together to form APC which became a nations party. Buhari, in CPC, failed woefully in the SW, SS,SE and NC, he was only popular in the core north of NW and NE, which were not enough to make him President. In the South and NC, he was regarded as a religious and tribal extremists and a brutal military dictator until Tinubu came and whitewashed him as a repentant democract. I remember Buhari wearing a suit during campaign for the first in in history in his life 😂😂🤣🤣. Tinubu, you do this one 🤣😂😂🤣 They were mutually beneficial to each other That's still sounds better What about the NPDP, The ANPP and other small factions from other parties that make up the party prior to that election Saying expressly I made someone the president is very wrong in all senses Cos if Jonathan had tried to pacify his party members and the North a little bit, he would have won that election |

nairalanda1: And I am telling you that those best times did not mean we had a well developed sports system
I honestly wish I could agree with you, but even back then, our wins were covering a lot of problems.
Read about the term Potemkin city, and you will see it applies to our sports.
The fact is, we won nothing at the world athletics championships and failed to qualify for the u20 cups in 1995 and 1997 and we did badly in many other sporting tournaments. Back under abacha
You guys should stop using our victories to decieve ourselves. Sports is and has always been in a bad state in Nigeria. No be lie. It is that self deceit under abachan that led to the mess we have today The question is; Is our Sport better than it was then?? Shouldnt we be improving ourselves year in year out? |

nairalanda1: We did win trophies under democracy as well, infact two of our three afcon wins were under democracy
Also many of the wins under army were not a true reflection of our sporting acumen. Sports remains a poorly funded sector.
And army rule was very harsh. And the economy was still bad and Nigerians were still doing japa Una no go read, you just want to comment The best times in the history of sports in Nigeria was during the military regime and that's a known fact What we have today is players bribing their way to the team Shouldn't we be progressing better |

Ikaeniyan0: Every Nigerians knows that without Tinubu, Buhari would never have become the president of Nigeria Of course he's instrumental to the win, but the only issue people have with his supporters is aggravating his role in national issues Amaechi, Saraki, Oshiomole were all instrumental too Infact there were many instrumental persons then, it was a merger after all But I believe the PDP bloc were the game changer in that process But they were never well compensated |
Politics › Re: Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by ambale(m): 2:58pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
SmartEnergyng: Boss Mustapha should know better. Revisionism or Amnesia. so let's jug up his memory. By 2015, Muhammadu Buhari was a northern juggernaut with zero traction in the south. He lost three consecutive elections—2003, 2007, and 2011—failing to secure even 2% in any southern state. Buhari had reach in the desert but no bridge to the coast.
Enter Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The 2015 victory wasn’t divine—it was strategic. Tinubu brought the political architecture, the South West votes, the elite coordination, and the ACN machinery that formed the APC. That party wasn’t born in the north—it was negotiated in Lagos and midwifed across the Niger.
To now hear Boss Mustapha suggest Buhari could’ve done it alone is more than false—it’s dangerous revisionism. In 2011, Buhari won zero southern states. In 2015, thanks to Tinubu, he won Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti—securing the crucial two-thirds spread.
This wasn’t a northern coronation. It was a coalition presidency—and Tinubu was the hinge.
If the northern elite think they can return to power without meaningful southern alliance, they’re politically deaf. Nigeria isn’t ruled by nostalgia. It’s steered by negotiated balance.
👉 Don’t erase the bridge that carried you. 👉 Don’t bite the hand that delivered you.
Boss Mustapha should know better. People like Amaechi, Saraki also were instrumental in that same election, but Una no displace them?? Stop worshiping your fellow man Tinubu no be wetin una dey call am to be |
Politics › Re: Tinubu, ACN Contributed Insignificant Votes To Buhari's Election - Boss Mustapha by ambale(m): 2:53pm On Jul 09, 2025 |
emkz: Many of those who worked under Buhari have turned out to be ingrates because of unemployment.
In 2011, coalition talks failed as Buhari refused to concede the vice presidential ticket to Tinubu's camp. In 2015, the merger paid off when Buhari conceded the vice presidential slot to Tinubu.
The additional 3 million votes led to offsetting Jonathan's votes by 2,571,759.
Without Tinubu, Saraki and some others, Buhari would never have won that election and Babachir and Boss Mustapha would not have been SGF.
Tinubu contributed immenseley to rebranding Buhari and successfully removed the tag of religious fundamentalism from Buhari, which influenced Buhari's marketability.
Despite Buhari's team sidelining Tinubu during Buhari's tenure, Tinubu remained true to the party. Despite the party abandoning APC Edo during Obaseki's second term campaign, Tinubu supported the party. Despite many in Buhari's camp refusing to openly campaign for Tinubu, Tinubu campaigned as if his life depended on it. Buhari later joined when it became clear he was being unfair to Tinubu.
Now, many of Buhari's disciples who feel sidelined are now undermining Tinubu. Osinbajo himself undermined Tinubu by running against him and got served. It's been only two years, and many of Buhari's disciples cannot stay the course. Buhari and Tinubu were the arrowheads of APC. Buhari had his time, Tinubu also deserves his time. After Buhari, Tinubu took more heat on behalf of APC during Buhari's tenure.
There were rumours that some people in Buhari's government were more disposed to an Atiku presidency when the Ahmad Lawan project failed. The way they are trooping to the coalition, it is clear where they stood.
Even if Babachir, Boss Mustapha, Malami, Laureta Onochie and some Buhari's closest fellows detest Tinubu, they should be reminded that Buhari would never have been president without Tinubu's support.
To politicians, think of the future. Do not make enemies because of temporary hunger. You abuse Tinubu today. Tomorrow, you might need someone from his camp to support you. Why should he trust you?
PS: To the fellow below:
I do not know why you assume I am pained. If Tinubu does not perform to your expectation, vote him out. That is your democratic right. If he fails, I'd support him to go home. My survival is not tied to Tinubu being in power or anyone else. But what we will not accept is the lie that those whose records in public office embarass them that they cannot even publicly talk about it are the ones to rescue Nigeria. We must rescue Nigeria from those who sold government assets to their friends. We must rescue Nigeria from those who destroyed NITEL and ruined power sector reforms. We must rescue Nigeria from those who used their positions to influence their wives getting 4 billion naira monthly to train Niger Delta women on only gawd knows what. We must rescue Nigeria from religious extremists who said EU election observers will return in body bags. We must rescue Nigeria from those whose accomplisments were prison breaks and declaration of public holidays. We must recue Nigeria from those who slap vulnerable women in shops asking "do you know who I am?" We must rescue Nigeria from those who built an uneconomic and voodoo railway from Kano to Maradi and refused to build a maritime university in the Niger Delta. We must rescue Nigeria from the Church of Emergency Messiahs of Nigeria of Latter Day Saints. We must rescue Nigeria from you! Why must everything be about Tinubu?? The Role of god he likes playing is what is hurting his performance now At the conception of APC, he was not even a Governor The PDP bloc gave them a whole lot cos that's what really broke Jonathan's influence At least we remembered the famous 16 is greater than 19 Make una sofry dey worship this man abeg, it's irritating |
