Plus, when one million out of 230 million are paying tax, HOW DO you expect any government, be it obi or tinubu...to do anything?
You cannot tax an underproductive to success, even your President knew that before he became president

15% sounds reasonable .

Most people employed in organized private and public sector pay that amount as tax.

The law only wants to expand it to other grey zone businesses that don't pay even up to minimum wage.

all those one man businesses like hotels and private schools will be forced to disclose their workforce and when it is found out that they are not even paying for NHIS, Pension and even the minimum wage , there will be trouble .

The tax law favours the poor and will bring to accountability since most people do not earn up to minimum wage working in these small businesses . Same small businesses are exempt from paying corporate tax, so why will they refuse to pay minimum wage ?
That's where the president is getting it wrong, hee sending a very bad signal to the populace

You've not even done any productive thing for the people in two years and the only thing that comes to your mind is taxing them to death

The only other option is to borrow even more then.

Simple and short.

Oil is going to keep falling in the foreseeable future. Oil also forms 80% of our revenue and we need it at 150 dollars per barrel to earn a revenue that makes sense.

Anyone quoting me should tell me how we can raise more money without tax and borrowing.

Don't mention fighting corruption because while it is very necessary, it still does not raise our overall income.
You have been shouting up and down

Is the tax the solution to our problem??

Government have refused to fix many things, now expect increase in House rent, transport fares and others and yet we still have to give the government a large chunk of money to squander again

What manner of government is this?

No government is perfect. We could start by holding those in power to account. That includes politicians when they waste money snd pastors when they say things like this.

If you want a country with a thriving middle class where the average person can buy a new car, live in a decent house, enjoy good healthcare and infrastructure, then we need to understand how modern economies work. The system we have now only guarantees poverty.

If there's one thing to note, taxation manytimes helps citizens to be alive to their responsibilities. People are more likely to demand better when they can see it's their money being spent.
Does this particular government looks like one that will even accept your criticisms??

They only want to loot and make people look away now

You want to be using Lagos and Rivers generated Tax to be sending people to Mecca and marrying wives for your jobless Almajaris, go and generate your own money, that is Loud and Clear now.
Are you guys even listening to whatever shit you're spewing sef??

You must be an Unserious Person if you take this book serious.
The same Buhari they are vilifying, as having led a govt. that plunged the country into a huge socioeconomic mess, which they are struggling to overcome.
The same Buhari that they said he sidelined Tinubu's men during his tenure.
The same Buhari that they are selectively prosecuting his cabinet members.
The same Buhari that they said refused to support Tinubu's ambition, until El Rufai and co stood there ground.

Even the unveiling of the book in the villa is a testament of it's purpose - to rewrite history!
Like I can't even believe my eyes and ears at the happenings right now

This is the problem with Nigerians, we suffer from selective amnesia. The book didn’t say that Osinbajo didn’t inform Buhari. It said Osinbajo didn’t seek his views on whether to run against Tinubu or not. There is a huge difference between informing for support and seeking advice.
And we all know that's a lie

Tinubu has a penchant for wanting to be the hero in every scene

And mind you, it is everyone's right to contest

The question that the Ojudu man failed to answer is why would Osinbanjo compete with his benefactor. Buhari rightfully said Tinubu I know and Osinbnjo I don’t know because he know him when Tinubu nominated him for the position of the Vice President. Though I have a high regard for Osinbanjo but I was highly disappointed in him for betraying Tinubu. I didn’t expect that from him at all.

“By the third discussion, President Buhari went further. In his considered judgment, he stated plainly that Professor Osinbajo was by far the best person for the job.”

So, Ojudu expected the President to tell Osinbajo not to contest. Who does that? No disciplined military man will ever support Osinbajo with his relationship with Tinubu. It is the highest level of betrayal.
He's countering the book sponsored by your lord that Buhari didn't support osinbajos bid

PoliticsRe: Pastor Chris Warns Against The New Tax Policy by ambale(m): 3:54pm On Dec 20, 2025

Having a progressive tax system where those who have more, pay more is one of the very few ways of distributing wealth which ultimately results in a richer and fairer society.

The natural direction of wealth is to get accumulated (i.e those who have are more likely to get more making the rich richer and the poor poorer. Progressive taxation helps break that cycle and gives more people a chance

What we need to demand is good enforcement and that the tax revenues are used properly.
And has the government ever distributed any wealth equally??

They live beyond their means and keep the people in perpetual slavery

Isn't it worrisome that an average working Nigerian can't even live a good life without getting their hands soiled?

IN 10 TO 20 YEARS TIME, NIGERIANS WILL BE BUILDING STATUES OF TINUBU IN HIS HONOUR.

He will be hailed as Nigeria's Lee Kuan Yew, the Singaporean leader who famously transformed that country with bold economic reforms.

You people have no idea what Tinubu is doing. He is restructuring the entire system to work, such that his successors will have no choice but to KEEP GOING ON THE SAME PATH.

When we reach our potential in the next few decades, we will all remember it started with the Tinubu Reforms of the 2020s.
Which system is he restructuring??

Corruption can never allow any impact to show

Sometimes they are like two, three or four sef,.so it's always rotational

When it's your family turn, you can step forward, so the present family that are suppose to bring the king are saying he doesn't have any linkage with their family root

FG should come out clean

The tax bill is an attempt to frustrated an already frustrated Nigerians

If the FG has pure intention, they need to STOP THE PERSONAL INCOME TAX WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT!

Let Manufacturing companies, importers, refineries, recycling companies, & other big companies be taxed. Everybody needs these manufacturing companies afterall nobody escape buying sachet or bottle water. If only these people tax, it will be single digit. The present format will end up eating up people's meagre income with tax. Tell me why I should pay tax on personal income and when I shop in the supermarket, I still pay another tax. When I make calls buying recharge cards from already taxed income, government still taxed me

The whole tax structure is a complete mess that needs to be cleaned up asap. Nigerians dont earn enough to be taxed!

If importers pay tax, it will be spread on the selling price

Manufacturers already add the tax to the selling price of their products
In as much as it's good to find money to run a government

But one thing I detest about this government is their nonchalant attitude towards the needs of the populace that might not even need monetary budget sef

If he can't let the government be.... We will drag his tiny voice around as well....

Obi should tell his supporters what he'd done differently if he was a president and what he'd done differently on the policies of the president and the suppose outcome from his suggestions and not fight to win election when he's got absolutely nothing to offer.
How does this actually relates with the article you're reacting to, that's what I'm asking you

Stop acting like a fuulish individual

Elrufai talked about Tinubu and Buhari and his associates, the next thing Peter Obi
